I wish I remembered their names because they absolutely deserve recognition. They know me by name every time I come in and always make me feel welcome. My eldest daughter and I were on our way out of the City of San Clemente after watching the Championship Finals of the Select Medical Orange County Cup in June 2025. We found ourselves stopping by Wingstop located at Gateway Village Plaza. I love their Hot Honey Rub (HHR) flavor! So very addicting at every bite. This dry rub is a combination of honey, brown sugar, smoked paprika, garlic powder, onion powder, cayenne pepper, black pepper, salt, and ground mustard. Now you know why it is SO GOOD... sweet and spicy all in one! We walked in to order the wings. Ambiance was nice with colorful tables. Both restrooms are right in the same space as the dining area which I find odd. The gentleman who took our order was pleasant and accommodating. Thank you sir! I asked if they still have the 20 wings for $20. They sure did. One 20 for $20 please! I was allowed 3 different flavors, but I wanted all of them in HHR. I have tried their other flavors and nothing compares to their HHR. I am salivating as I'm typing right now LOL. Wait time was about 20+ minutes. They were super busy with walk-in and online orders so it was understandable. They did their best to get the orders out as quickly as possible. Thank you Wingstop! The wings were super hot and delicious. No compliants on the goods. However, I had 3 small gripes. Gripe #1... all 20 wings were placed in one tight box.... they could have separated 10 wings in one small box and another 10 wings in another small box. If I had a Time Machine, of all the world's most tragic events, I would go back in time to stop myself from eating here. I was greeted by a reptilian fluoride stare and a mumble that I can only assume must've been some attempt at a greeting. After placing my order, I waited around 30 minutes for my food to be made by Slo-Mo Joe back there who was working with all the enthusiasm of a salted snail. I hate to do this but, enough is enough. Came in and placed a order. Young girl who took my order was having trouble with customer in front of me. Lady asked for a cup for water and she charged her for a drink. When lady said something girl told her it's to locate I already rang it up. I came in for an early dinner on a Wednesday. I didn't have much time, and figured Wingstop would be a good place to eat quick, and get back on the road. I was immediately greeted by the staff as I entered, and they were ready to take my order. I ordered the 10 piece bone-in combo, with original hot, and spicy Korean sauce flavors. The order comes with fries and a fountain drink, and your choice of dipping sauce, so I went with the honey mustard. Before I paid, the cashier asked if I'd like to add an extra 4 boneless wings of any flavor for (I think it was) an extra $2. I accepted and got the mango habanero for the boneless wings. The cashier took my money and thanked me with eye contact and a smile, and as they got started on my order, I took my cup, and went to the soda machine. This location has one of those cool, coca-cola machines that let you mix and match hundreds of different flavor combinations for your soda. I wasn't feeling adventurous, so I stuck with the classic fanta orange, but I love that the option to get creative is there. While I waited for my food, I grabbed a table by the window and looked around. The dining area was clean and well decorated with lots of vintage aviation themed posters, and a framed football jersey from San Clemente High across the street, which was a nice touch. They had TVs playing an NFL football game (rerun, as it was a Wednesday), and the usual generic pop music playing in the background. My food was actually brought right to my table, rather than me being called to the counter, which was a nice touch, and it was all hot and freshly prepared when I got it. The wings were perfectly sauced and glistening with flavor. The fires were cooked to a perfect golden brown, and dusted with just the right amount of seasoning. I dug right into the original hot wings, and they were everything you want in a classic hot wig. Tangy, salty wing sauce with a kick of heat, over perfectly cooked fall off the bone chicken meat. I ate all 5 original wings in no time, and picked every scrap of meat off the bones. I also like how the paper they're served in allows the sauce to pool, so you can roll the wings in the sauce before eating for extra flavor. It's a good thing they let you take as many paper towels as you want because with all that saucy flavor, I needed them! Next, I drank some soda to cool my mouth down, and tried out the fries. Again, perfectly cooked to a light, crispy golden brown and the seasoning they put on them is fantastic! Sweet and salty at the same time, but when you dip them in the honey mustard sauce, it just elevates the whole experience to the next level! That sauce is a sweet, tangy mustard sauce that compliments the fries and makes you want to just keep eating them. I had to pull myself away from the fries and dig into the Spicy Korean wings. Again, the wings were perfectly cooked and tender, but this sauce had a bit of a complex flavor. Subtly sweet and savory with a soy sauce and garlic base, and just the right amount of heat to tie it all together. I was loving it, and again, rolling the wings in the sauce at the bottom of the paper before eating is a pro move. After demolishing the wings, and finishing off most of the fries, I decided to check out the boneless bonus wings with the mango habanero sauce. Unfortunately, I wasn't as in love with these wings. They were cooked well, but boneless wings are always a little drier than the bone in, and these had a breading on them that was seasoned and salty. The strong breading flavor clashed with the sauce, and it just didn't work for me. Out of all the food I tried at Wingstop, the boneless wings were the only thing that fell short. Oh well, I still loved everything else. The food came out fast, hot, and fresh, the restaurant was clean, and the service was top notch! I highly recommend Wingstop when you need that fast food fix, and I will definitely be back! read more

Very disappointing when we just moved here and ordered from this location for the first time. Wings way over cooked to the point I only ate half my order, asked for them to be extra wet, aka extra sauce, well they were dry as can be. Asked for extra cheese on voodoo fries, barely any cheese to the point the cheese soaked in all the fries. We will try again down the road to give it another shot and hopefully can improve review then. I went from a one star to a five star.
