We decided to head over to HH Cotton for a little birthday celebration lunch.. I was craving a nice white cheddar cheese bacon burger. Yummy they make the best... I decided I wanted to try their Mezcal cocktail and it did not disappoint. We tried the ahi nachos with fresh avocado. And the mahi-mahi tacos, we ask for corn tortillas instead of flour, so good. Our waitress Daryan was so sweet and so attentive.. She heard that it was my birthday and... brought over a delicious birthday dessert which was the warm butter cake with vanilla ice cream and berries... perfect ending to a great meal. This restaurant has a nice front patio , as well as event space in the back for any parties or large get-togethers. This is a very dog friendly property. The monte crisco sandwich was soooo yummy!! The kalua pork in it was so tender and juicy and flavorful. The ranch was amazing too (I love ranch.) I loved it and my boyfriend loved his poke bowl. Drinks were amazing, service was fast and friendly too. Overall we had a really good experience! I have been wanting to try this place out for a while and it did not disappoint. They also have live music that was really nice in the background. Overall I would come back and I recommend trying this place when in San Clemente. read more

I decided to explore downtown San Clemente and after a bit of walking around I stopped at this spot. I sat at the bar and ordered my usual. The mule was good, but a little spicier than I liked. I ordered the coconut shrimp and they were served up pretty quickly. The shrimps were a good nice and nicely battered. The dipping sauce delicious as well. I closed out by trying an IPA that was part of their rotation and I was quite impressed. This place stays busy, so definitely give it a try if in the area. read more

Saturday night dinner for two at 7:30pm and no reservations needed. The service took a lot longer than expected. Zero complaints about the food. Good flavors, decent portions. The band that started at 8pm and played the rest of the evening was the STAR of the night! Powerful vocals from the female singer and great music from the all male band. People were dancing and having a fantastic time. Lots of beer options. Cali Creamin on Nitro was excellent! read more

Wow! How have I lived in southern OC for so long and not been here before? It felt like heaven when I came to this restaurant for brunch a couple months ago. First, the food was amazing! I love eggs Benedict so my boyfriend and I decided to order that. We wanted to share different items so we could taste more, so we decided to get the crème brûlée French toast and chorizo avocado toast as well. All three were absolutely divine and the guava mimosa we had was also amazing. I think my favorites were the French toast and avocado toast. I would highly recommend coming here for brunch! The waitress we had was also very welcoming, helpful, and knowledgeable about the menu. The food came pretty fast too so I would say that the customer service was great. When we went, there was a musician who was playing very nice covers of popular songs so that definitely helped add to the experience. Probably not a surprise to anyone reading this review, but I'll come back for sure! read more

We came too early for lunch on Sunday so we had to order from the branch menu, which had very good selection. They do not serve lunch on Sunday until 2:00. Our waitress Faith was the best. Funny, entertaining and service spot on. Very warm and inviting. Great outdoor seating. Drinks were unique and delicious. The service here was incredible. Our sever Katie was the absolute best! This service was outstanding, Katie was nice and had great recommendations. We had a larger party (6) people and she was wonderful. She was able to split our checks at the end too. The host was also great, he was so friendly and nice. They had a large beer and cocktail selection. The food was also so good. The blta was great and the fries were crispy. It was just such a great lunch experience on New Year's Eve. read more

I enjoy this place. It's got both indoor/outdoor seating. The three times I've come I've sat outside and get fresh air while watching Del Mar scene. Nice staff, good menu options, and live music on weekends. Casual place. Good vibes. My most recent visit I had an ahi wrap which was tasty. More importantly, I absolutely love their sweet potato fries with side of ranch. The truffle garlic fries are good too not great only because you better be prepared to have garlic breath from the chunks of fresh garlic. I'll definitely be back. read more

Love the indoor/outdoor seating vibes. My friends were able to bring their dogs and sit comfortably. The food was great! Everyone loved what they ordered. Service was quick and everything came to the table pretty fast. We loved how there was a parking lot in the back, making it easy... otherwise it's very difficult to find parking in the other lots and on the streets. read more

We celebrated my sister's 50th birthday here on July 21st. I was impressed with the impeccable service and how much they went above and beyond any expectations. The service was not only top notch, but handled by the General Manager, Nicholas. He made sure everyone and everything was perfect. He did everything from handling the bar service to making sure the food was set up and ready at all times. He went above any and all expectations. The food was delicious! Javier the head chef made sure everyone was happy and eating. He not only prepared the delicious food, but made sure it was set up and hot. The food was endless and so filling. So let me tell you about this gem of a restaurant! Wow! The cutest and coolest restaurant to go to for a little happy hour or nice lunch or dinner. This place did not disappoint! I can't wait to visit again. The private room we had was amazing! It was in the back of the restaurant and private enough to enjoy this very special day. Thank you for such a memorable experience at your amazing restaurant. read more

Much bigger space inside than expected. The ambiance is casual-american & relaxed. Food has so many options. From poke nachos their signature to steak, tacos and brunch favs like breakfast burrito and french toast. Service is super friendly and quick. Ordered Creme brûlée french toast which is amaaaazing Poke bowl: okay has imitation crab meat Steak & eggs with truffle fries : steak ordered medium well and came well done. Chewy and too salty. Eggs was supposed to be fried but as we asked for only egg whites it came weird as pictured but tasted fine. Taco trio: okay comes with black beans. Son ordered sliders with fries. Tasted fine. Kids loved Appetizer we ordered pretzel and flatbread bbq pizza. The pretzel was outstanding. The cheese a little spicier and the honey mustard fresh and delicious. Highly recommend this place. The creme brûlée french toast is theeeee best. Patio outdoor seating available. And live music sometimes and even line dancing and taco Tuesdays. And they have freeeesh raw jalepenis. It's meh. It's all I can really say. There's some strong pros and cons which leads me to the review I'm leaving. The service is suuuuper slow. First time I came, it was a Friday night so I gave them the benefit of the doubt. Now I came on a Sunday morning, restaurant is basically empty. Still slow. Took 12 minutes to have a server acknowledge us to order. Didn't catch her name but she was very sweet and patient. Just too busy with everything else going on be running around. The food is a little about average, not too bad. Took a long time to pay both times... took a while for them to clear old plates, even though they checked on us to see how the food was. It was just meh. read more

The CUTEST place to walk into and immediately we had the best service. We walked in with 17 people which can be daunting, but they worked so fast to seat us and we were blessed to have the most darling server, Logan!! He was so attentive, so patient and our water glasses never ran out. The mahi-mahi tacos were so delicious and we also started with the Brussels sprouts and cauliflower and they were both amazing as well! My old fashioned cocktail was made to perfection! We just had the greatest time and felt so welcome! We are actually content right back this morning for birch because yesterday was such a great experience!! I just celebrated my 40th birthday in HH Cotton's private back room. I simply cannot say enough about their amazing staff! Javi, Nick, Faith and Miguel went above and beyond to make it the best party ever. The food was fantastic! We had a taco bar, cesar salads and the coconut shrimp for an appetizer. In total there was about 43 people in our party and everyone said they had the time of their lives and raved about the food. We went tonight during the 49ers game and the service was good but the food was very mediocre. Honestly probably the worst and most flavorless chicken sandwich I've ever had and the wings were the tiniest wings I've ever seen. The burger was alright, just your typical cheeseburger. What a wonderful experience I had with a friend dining at HH Cotton this MLK Day. The service was the best. It is so very rare to find such a caring staff in the restaurant business these days. The food is good. The service - typical maybe too much asking how things are. Today (Jan 7, 2024) was San Clemente cold. I asked the front if they could close the door - no. Not prompted by me, the bar tender asks - no. I then backed him up. Door still open, under 60F at the bar. They were also out of the first two beers we ordered. I just went with water. Net - bring a jacket (I was in my Colorado wool), don't expect accommodation . I left early $40-$60 below what I would have spent and likely not going back for a long time. read more

Good for drinks and appetizers. The food and service are hit and miss. Really, nothing more to say.

Del Mar street in downtown San Clemente has truly come of age as an amazing stretch of real estate known for its numerous restaurants, sports bars, wine and entertainment venues and ice cream shops - all nestled amongst the surf shops and retail stores which stretch from the Pier Bowl to the Pacific Coast Highway. HH Cottens has established itself as a premier sports bar and restaurant which offers indoor or outdoor seating, craft beer and cocktails and savory food which pairs perfectly. Spend a day crawling from the Fishermans on the pier up to South of Nicks at the top of Del Mar, and stop at every fine choice along the way. HH Cottens is conveniently located mid way through that journey and is the ideal spot for lunch and libation. read more

The chicken tenders were literally non-existent. Like the $17 basket was smaller than the $16 burger! Two tenders and a dash of fries does not make for a good amount of food for a $17 appetizer. I really wanted to like H H Cotton's but alas..... it's not worth the $$ at all. read more

Food is always great no matter what is ordered! Love the pretzels (not dry or dense) and wings (Buffalo flavor is moderate spicey) for apps. The chicken waffles, grilled cheese, & salmon bowls are also great choices. They have a kids menu too for the lil ones. Services is good at the bar and with table service. They have live music on the weekends and it can get busy. Casual vibe with good food, reasonable prices. Happy hour 3-6 with $3 off apps and $1-$2 off of drinks. read more

the food was okay. The steak and eggs had too much garlic on them and the steak was just okay. My friend is in the Navy, stationed in San Diego, and we have not seen each other in 4 years due to deployments and scheduling conflicts. We were FINALLY able to find a day to meet for lunch, so we chose HH Cotton's as a nice halfway point. It was a great place to catch up! We went on a Friday around noon and it was not busy at all. Our waitress was really great and checked on us constantly, refilling coffee and water without us ever having to ask. For lunch we started with their Lumpia. Wow! No joke, I want to drive back down to San Clemente JUST to eat those. I will get like 3 orders for myself and that will be my meal. They were fantastic! Super crisp with the most delicious filling and great dipping sauces. I had the Brisketeer Mac N' Cheese, which was a huge portion of really creamy mac, covered in loads of BBQ brisket. Tasty & filling dish! I brought half home and my husband devoured it. He said he wants to go down there to try more of their food as well. My friend had their daily special, which was Ribeye with mashed potatoes and asparagus. It was served with a red pepper sauce that she said was amazing. She loved her steak, said it was cooked perfectly. This is a great restaurant with cool decor, a friendly staff, wonderful food, and in an awesome location with lots of parking. I plan to go back! read more

Avocado toast!?? More like avocado hoax! This was our second time here and it was disappointing (considering our previous visit was fine). Service was slow for a Sunday around 1pm. It wasn't packed at all and our food took forever to come out. I ordered a decaf coffee, but unfortunately they said they didn't serve decaf. Really... for a brunch place!?!? Ok bummer. But the lowlight was the avocado toast. I took one bite and blah. Barely any avocado and the bread was really hard. I needed a steak knife to cut it. The server was nice about it. Gave me a couple of avocado slices on the side. We also ordered the chicken and waffles and French toast. At least those dishes were ok. read more

Cool sports bar to hang out and watch football on Sundays. It's also cuz they have unlimited mimosas option for their Sunday brunch. Food was so so. The thing I wanted ran out so I ordered the J Gable instead and it was pretty good. Lacked some flavors but they have their green homemade sauce to cover it. Bloody Mary was decent. My bf ordered the Grapefruit gimlet and it was horrible- all syrup/sugary. Service was okay. We main server wasn't really attentive. We had to seek service from another server walking around. Tried them for the first time this Thursday night. Service was excellent and prompt. We had Poke Nachos for appetizer ($17). It was very good. Can use a little bit more Sriracha but quality and quantity was perfect. Garlic Truffle fries ($8) were a bit more greasy than I would like them to but in terms of taste they were very good. For main course we had: Blackened Salmon ($26): Two big pieces. Crispy from outside and juicy and flavorful from inside. Soul Melt Sandwich ($18): Vegan sandwich with caramelized onions, mushrooms and avocado. It was very hearty and tasted good. Blackened Scottish Salmon Salad ($20): Again they hit it out of the park with this salad as well. I would definitely be going back there again and recommend it to others too. read more

HH Cotton's in San Clemente is RIGHTEOUS BROTHER! OK - that's my Hulk Hogan impression... kinda hard to translate that in writing... Whatever... GAH! Anyways, my first time in was indeed, righteous. I had an Aloha Burger - that's right - pineapple and teriyaki on my burger... What's wrong with you people? "Pineapple and meat?" "BLAAAHH!" It's soooo gooood! HUSH! And the fries?
