I wish I could give Wings N' Things 1/8 of a star.I ordered the shrimp and 4 wings basket for lunch.The food was such a disappointment.Especially the wings.The wings looked like they came from a Bee hummingbird(The smallest existing bird).I cant believe the cook would serve this to a paying customer.No shame!They were also over fried and had no flavor.I was the only one in the restaurant that was ordering at the time, so I'm not sure what the issue was today. The fries were ok and the shrimp looked pre-packaged.There was no hand breading going on in this joint. The restaurant lobby was not appealing.A few stools to sit on,a table turned upside down and the tool used to drain deep fryers sitting out front. Jerk chicken may be my favorite food on the planet and unfortunately, in Minneapolis, there simply aren't too many spots to get it. I passed by this spot on the north side a number of times and figured that I'd check it out. The first thing that you notice is that this definitely isn't a Jamaican spot. It's an inner city fish/chicken spot that just happens to serve jerk chicken. I was cool with that still and opted for the jerk chicken and rice bowl, extra spicy ($8). The bowl was filled with jerk chicken. It didn't have much gravy on there and the meat was crazy salty (coming from someone who LOVES salt to a fault). However, it still tasted crazy good. What was quite odd about the dish is that they put giardiniera in the dish (albeit grilled). The taste and crunch was definitely a nice addition, but certainly not what one would expect out of a jerk chicken dish (especially if you are Jamaican). As a whole, very solid, but just different. If your expectations are for rice and peas, cabbage, plantains, etc, this ain't the spot. However, if you want a bowl filled with jerk chicken for super cheap, it's worth a shot. read more

I remember going to Shorty and Wags off Nicollet and 38th, WAY before it was hipster-ville and it was really sketchy...like Broadway KFC-bullet-proof glass kinda sketchy. Unfazed. So this is a take-out joint in the same building as the 4th St Saloon with a parking lot you had to get to through an alley. You know, the big bar right on the corner of B'way and I-94 with the jazz-music mural...except they never present jazz here...hmmm... There was one guy running the kitchen/take-out counter/back of a bar food kitchen. Sho-nuff $9.99 whole wings, with a choice of cajun and/or lemon pepper seasoning. Drinks, fries, and sauce are ala carte. I got a basket of fries for $2.99. The whole thing came to less than $15. The food came in about 5-10min. In that time as a good Yelper that I am I checked-in, and then read a 1-star review of someone who got sick off the crab. Ok. If someone actually ordered shellfish from this place, with their amazing decor, right off B'way and 94...ok you understand. The place is called "Wings 'n Things." Don't order the "things." Order "Wings!" I have zero sympathy. Sorry...on with my story. It did give me one-second of pause. But I thought well...deep fried wings at 1000 degrees...nope no worries for me. There is a very small parking lot located on the side of the restaurant in front of 4th st saloon but you might have to park on the street. I decided to stop by when i saw their online post about $3 gyros, a February special. Wings N Things is a restaurant designed for to-go orders; small, with chairs and no tables. I stopped by twice. My first time there, i ordered the gyro special and deep fried mushrooms. The gyro was good. Every component of it (the lamb meat, sauce, onion and tomato) by itself is pretty plain, but together, they are amazing. The mushroom holds a good and flavorful batter, with a good crunch. The second time, i ordered a gyro combo (gyros with fries and a drink for about $6), their gyro special, and their wings special; 15 wings for $10 (these specials are only for the month of February). Gyro was good as usual. Fries were meh, nothing special. The wings were good, but nothing amazing also. Overall, wings n things is the neighborhood guilty food. But the best part is that you can be hanging out at the 4th St. Saloon late at night, and just walk up to the window they have directly into the bar. First off I want to say that I am not out to ruin anyone's business, and I found the food (despite the errors) to be quality. What I recieved was 20 overcooked(on the verge of burnt) buffalo wings, two orders of fries, and a burger. The wings, despite being over cooked, were not awful. I can tell had they been cooked the right amount of time, they would have been on the higher end of the scale. The fries were crispy and good!( hard to do with delivery food). The burger, although unexpected was delicious. It had bacon, carnelized onions, and mushrooms. It was the bright spot in a disappointing order. I have ordered from this place several times and the order is rarely correct but I usually just let it slide. This time however is the worst. I ordered 30 wings, 2 orders of fries, and the chocolate cake. What arrived was 2 orders of fries that were 68 degrees (but could be reheated), 10 wings that were 75 degrees, and the chocolate cake -which seems fine but is a whip cream based dessert and who knows how long it was sitting out. Please note that this order was place at 11-11:30am and was scheduled for 6:30pm delivery. So there was no rush, just poor service. The chicken wings were very tough to chew like they were overcooked or just bad quality, and it was almost completely flavorless. With wings, seafood, cajun options, and other munchies, Wings N' Things is a solid spot to get your fix of incredibly unhealthy food after a long day of work.:) They also deliver which is a feature not many food business' in the North Community do, so take advantage of that option! It's not a place you dine in or eat in. You can take your food and move it to 4th Street Saloon, but usually I take mine to go. The wait can be a bit long as the process they have to ringing out and preparing the food is tedious. Usually one person is working at a given moment (Or at least during the times I've gone), but the wait for your food is usually well worth it. If you're in the North Community and want a quick place to grab a bit that's tasty and reasonably priced, check out Wings N' Things. But it's not a place I'd go out of my way to check out. I am always skeptical of northside restaurants, Worry about quality, sometimes food isnt the real purpose. But a friend went here and said the food was good so I tried it with bite squad. I can testify that the shrimp was good quality if sliiiightly overdone on arrival - thats always a risk with delivery - if the food is hot there is some carryover cooking- it would have been perfect eaten right away - The shrimp came in split shells - easy to peel, if messy, it came with a half ear of corn on the cob and red potato wedges -the corn was overcooked, but still good. The potatoes were cooked properly. All of it was soaked in hotsauce. I didnt specify how I wanted my hotsauce,because I didnt know the shrimp was going to be cooked in hotsauce, I found it yummy. It also came with a lime. I cant even tell you how much that unexpected and perfect touch delighted me. It was a good lime. The lemon pepper shrimp is lightly floured and fried. Nicely salty. I didnt detect the flavor of lemon or pepper but I still found it to be tasty. This came on a bed of shoe string fries and those were white ... undercooked. The dog enjoyed them. Delivery on both orders took about an hour which is on the long time side for delivery. I dont mind this, to me it means fresh food and a thought for customers standing on line. I do think they should take care to quote accurate times so that the delivery person isnt losing money waiting around. Every place in town serves chicken wings. There aren't alot of places that have shrimp at all and crab legs. So this was a nice find. read more

Ordered 48 buffalo wings from this location by UberEats. Wings are described as "fresh" which means that is an excuse for more than 3/4 of the wings having feathers in them according to the manager that I spoke to. I barely ate 8 of them before throwing out this terrible food. Also of you ever expect a refund for this awful food don't bother calling the store. First off you can hardly underatand them because of the noise, sounds like they set up shop on a moving train, and second all they will do is offer you more of this awful food for free next time you come in. Wasn't the biggest Philly so I was glad I had fries paired with it, and I decided to take a bite of 'em. MAN. THOSE FRIES THOUGH! The fries were absolutely amazing.
