I've known about this place for a while now and I FINALLY got a chance to get here. What else can I say? Let's start with the collard greens. They taste like the ones grandma used to make. Candied yams were delicious! I loved the brisket sandwich which was very very flavorful. My wife went crazy for the fried catfish she also loved the candied yams as well. Who knew you can get soul food in a mall in Burnsville that tastes like this? I will be back and tell everyone I know about Shuga's. The owner served me. Her customer service with me and how she treated other guests makes you want to support them. The location is in the food court in the Burnsville Mall and is easy to find. Nothing special but if more people knew about this place more businesses would open up in the mall just on the strength of Shuga's.

5 Stars - Soul Food Heaven! I had the rib tips and wings combo with rice and gravy and collard greens -- and let me tell you, this plate was everything. The rib tips were smoky, tender, and glazed to perfection. The wings? Crispy on the outside, juicy on the inside, and coated in a rich, flavorful sauce that had me licking my fingers. The rice and gravy added that comforting, home-cooked vibe, and the collard greens were seasoned just right -- savory, soulful, and full of depth. You can taste the care in every bite. Fast and friendly service. The price is super reasonable for the generous portions and quality. If you're craving bold, satisfying soul food in a casual setting, Shuga Wings & Things is a must. I'll definitely be back!

Let me start off by saying. The service was Great, l had high expectations because of one of my food influencers said it was great l follow him around town ( He Lied) this food was anything but good. I tried some of everything place has no taste and hou will see, they didn't even try. If U like chicken with No seasoning this is the place for U. I gave them two stars because of the lady up front.

My pregnancy cravings were hitting hard, and I was looking for some good soul food. I found this…read moreplace on Yelp, but there weren't many recent photos, reviews, or an updated menu, so I decided to give them a try--and I'm so glad we did! I called to ask about their hours and whether I could place a to-go order. The lady who answered was incredibly kind and patient. This was our first time ordering, and I sent my husband to pick it up. We didn't realize they were actually located inside the Burnsville Mall food court because the address online led him somewhere else. He called, and the same sweet lady happily explained where they were. Even though we ordered about 30 minutes before closing, they were so understanding and never made us feel rushed. We ordered the catfish meal, KO sauce chicken wings, beef rib tips, and banana pudding. The fried catfish was BUSSIN'. Even after a 30-minute drive home, it was still hot and crispy! The KO sauce wings were delicious too, and next time we definitely want to try the lemon pepper flavor. My two favorites were the beef rib tips and the banana pudding. The rib tips were so tender, juicy, and packed with flavor. And the banana pudding? Oh my goodness... I'm drooling just thinking about it while writing this review. It even came with a cookie on top! My baby girl was kicking the whole time--I think she approved too. The meals also came with collard greens and mac and cheese, and both were tasty sides that completed the meal. Most of all, thank you to the owners for waiting for us to pick up our food right at closing time. Your kindness and customer service meant a lot, especially for first-time customers. If you're craving comforting soul food, don't let the lack of online photos stop you. This hidden gem is absolutely worth checking out, and we'll definitely be back!

Phenomenal service and food here!! If you want genuine authentic soul food you have to come here…read morenow!! The greens were cooked to perfection and I got hot sauce to put on top because it made it even better. I licked my fingers like a child after polishing all of the chicken off the bone. I don't like Mac n cheese but they make a good Mac and cheese! This is saying a lot because I HATE Mac n cheese but wanted to see if they could change my mind. The drink selection is amazing and they are canned so you know they are and not from a dirty old machine. The special sauce I got on the side per recommendation was hands down one of the best dipping sauces I have ever had. The banana pudding was amazing and smooth! I will be back and if you haven't been here I highly recommend it!

My dinner was especially good....the chicken fried perfectly...all dark meat the way I like it. The potato salad was not what I expected but I was pleasantly surprised. I'm used to a mayo based potato salad but this was even better with lots of flavor! The corn was also delicious. Everyone was very happy with their dinners. The chicken and waffle dish was also good. Ratio of breading to chicken was perfect and perfectly seasoned. The honey butter that came with it was also delicious. The New Orleans shrimp bowl was great too. The ratio of shrimp, which was perfectly cooked, to rice was good. Lots of great flavor. I think that everyone in our party enjoyed what they ordered. The only "ding" would be the service. We had to ask for silverware so we could eat and had to wait for straws because she forgot. I'm still going to give it 5 stars even though the service was lacking a bit. She was very nice but seemed rushed.

I was looking for a place for my daughter and me to have dinner on a Wed night, and I had always…read morewanted to try this restaurant. Unfortunately, the experience was pretty disappointing. Parking is a challenge. The restaurant's parking lot is much too small for a restaurant of this size, and because it's backed up against hotels, finding a spot meant parking farther away. I ordered the Carolina Summer Risotto (GF) for $21.95 because I love a good risotto, and with very limited gluten-free options, this seemed like the best choice. The menu describes it as saffron risotto with Cajun shrimp, tomato, asparagus, zucchini, squash, arugula, and lemon. What I received was a very small scoop--maybe 1/2 cup--of what tasted more like yellow, sticky rice with shrimp. There was no asparagus at all, and only a couple of small pieces of zucchini and squash cut into tiny chunks. It looked nothing like the photo on the menu. For nearly $22, I expected a much more substantial portion--not something that looked like a food-truck serving in a paper cup from the fair. My daughter ordered the 6-piece chicken strips with fries for $17, and thankfully, those were much better and very generous in portions. The chicken was very moist and, in her opinion, worth the price. The atmosphere was another issue. It was extremely loud, almost to the point where it was difficult to hear the person sitting across from you--even though the restaurant wasn't full. The waitstaff was friendly, which I appreciated, but unfortunately, the 'okay' entree food, portion size, noise level, and parking issues outweighed the positives.

Ever since 2020, the climate surrounding the George Floyd Square has changed dramatically, and this establishment has become an even stronger integral part of the community as the square itself had represented how the community thrives with its people. A lot of respect for the establishment from that perspective. In terms of food, I would say the soul food, which contained mostly sides, were the main highlight for me. The mac & cheese was salty enough. The fries were solid in a "you can't really go wrong with it" type of way. The candied yams had enough sweetness. The collard greens could taste better but standards must be lower when they're not homemade. I also enjoyed the catfish fillets as they were fried to preserve enough hotness and softness. A lot of what they served, they made on the spot, which was what may be causing longer wait for some. Meat-wise, a lot of items could use further improvement because they were too dry, such as the smoked wings and the beef brisket. The wings were dry to the point that they condensed and got extremely salty. The brisket relied a lot on the sauce and the existing fat on the meat for juiciness while the meat itself didn't have a lot of flavor or juice. As for the ribs, they had some seasoning, and tasted just fine, and weren't as dry. But I have had ribs in Texan barbeque places before and knew what "seasoned" ribs were like and therefore concluded that the ribs here were not spectacular. With all that said, however, I still will return here as often as I can because I love supporting this business. The person serving me was very hospitable and patient. I still got some pretty solid barbeque even if it's not Texas. Besides, outside just the barbeque food, the soul food was solid, like I had mentioned above.
