I rented amber uplights to illuminate the surrounding space and the Cask Room looked great! It worked beautifully with my wine/gold/black theme. The appetizers were delicious. Guests chose from four dinner entree options and all reviews of the food were positive. My braised short rib entree was tender and tasty. I also opted for the late night sundae bar which was a hit with our attendees. The administrative and wait staff were courteous and on schedule. The ONLY thing I would suggest is filling the specialty cocktails (which cost more) to the rim. I did receive feedback from guests regarding that. I would not hesitate to book another event at Domenicos.

The ingredients were all measured out for us. I appreciate the instructor taking the time to explain food science (e.g why European butter has a higher fat percentage/melts more easily when contact is made with skin, why we refrigerate dough). However, I do feel like there was a lot of time spent explaining this when we could have been working on making the croissant. I'd prefer if we just got succinct instructions and got sent on our way while fun facts about croissants and how different ingredients interact with one another are told to us. I've taken a baking class at Sur La Table where there are TVs placed around each perspective, so everyone can watch as the instructor works on her dish instead of awkwardly huddling around the table craning to get a peek at the proper technique. When I made my croissant at home, they were perfectly buttery and flaky. Baking Arts also printed out PDF instructions for us to take home. As for the selection of baking goods, I noticed a lot of novelty tools that caught my interest! They have a decent selection of food dyes and edible glitter/pearls that are perfect for decorating cakes and baking with.

Daniel and I started talking about and planning our wedding late February 2022. And we were recommended to reach out to Lana and her company Rainbow Chefs for the catering. Daniel and I were originally planning for a cocktail wedding, as opposed to a traditional sit down dinner. We were madly sending out inquiries to different food catering companies, food trucks, restaurants, etc., with no hope in regards to the insanely expensive prices for the amount of people we were expecting, about 200+. Finally, Daniel's manager suggested that we reach out to Lana. We scheduled a zoom meeting with her, and had an unforgettable first impression of her and her plan for our last minute wedding. She broke down every detail we needed to be aware of and prepared for, including prices, and even discussed different options her company could offer to us. It was not easy to plan a wedding with 200+ guest invitations, in 4-5 months, but thankfully we were lucky enough that Lana and her crew were available for our wedding date and were able to help us throughout the process. During the entire planning time, Lana diligently checked in on both Daniel and I, sometimes individually, making sure tasks were being done and loose ends were being tied in time for our big day. Not only was Lana on top of us daily/weekly regarding our wedding planning, but she was also conscientious toward our mental health and instilled lots of important advice. About a week before our wedding day, Lana, Kate and Viana came to the venue, along with our other vendors, to have an overall tour of the venue, to make sure they knew where to maneuver the food tables, the kitchen staff, the bar situation, etc. On the day of the wedding, Lana was exceptional! Her and the Rainbow Chefs crew made sure our guests were well taken care of. I got compliments from our family and friends about how great the staff was, so that definitely meant alot. Throughout the night, along with our wedding planner, Lana was making sure that Daniel and I ate, that we were aware of things she and her crew were doing, etc. They definitely helped ease some of our planning and event stresses. The communication, diligence and honesty that Lana and Rainbow Chefs presented to us throughout the entire planning and event process was one that we absolutely recommend to anyone who is planning a wedding or large event/party!!

Very questionable communication from the Rainbow Chefs Update- After three painful weeks, I have finally received the e-recipes that were promised to us in August, 2021. During the past three weeks, Lana from Rainbow chefs kept on promising that she will send the recipes to me without providing a date. I had to follow up with her multiples time to get an update. Along the way Lana kept on saying that Rainbow chefs went above and beyond to create the recipes for our camp and the recipes are supposed to be an "extra effort" for our camp, however, this was actually advertised to us before we signed the contract. I felt really annoyed that one dared to describe something that's 11 months late as "extra effort". In addition, the first version I received was full of typos/formatting errors and missing TWO dishes. Lana told me those were missing because she lost the recipe files--but according to her that everything was custom made for our camp so she had to write the recipes from scratch? If she had the "files" all this time why not just send to me? To conclude, lots of inconsistent information from Rainbow chefs. I would advise everyone to think twice before choosing to work with Rainbow chefs

These two gins (and more) are…read moreproduced by Old World Spirits which operates out of a garage in an industrial park in Belmont. Don't judge just because it's an industrial park, this place is a tight, efficient operation and makes great use of it's space. It's got a huge copper still that makes everything from gin to rye whiskey to brandies to absinthe. On Friday nights you can get a tour and tasting for $15. Because of California law, spirits cannot be sold at the distillery, except wine/grape based brandies. The Blade gin is a citrusy gin with a lot of complexity but not much strong juniper flavor that turns most people off. The Rusty Blade is the same Blade gin that is aged in barrels which brings out more cinnamon, nutmeg and vanilla. It's very much a winter spirit in my opinion. The pear eau de vie brandy really packs a punch with a lot of great pear flavor and though I'm not really a fan of eau de vies this one is a great one. Also, make sure you try the walnut liqueur, based on a Croatian family recipe, for something different. Finally, yes, absinthe, real absinthe, is now legal in the US and you can taste La Sorcière here. It's a great traditional absinthe with a lot of anise flavor. The distiller who gave us the tour and the tasting was really nice and knowledgable. It was a great experience and I encourage everyone to visit once.

Then suddenly he got back to her a few days later, said that she had never paid and there was no confirmation. Funny, then why did they have us down for Saturday if they had no confirmation. My friend sent him a screenshot of THEIR confirmation email for the Friday appointment, so he went back to saying he'd give us a free tasting. Well, it's been weeks now and he won't respond to our emails to set up the appointment. Lousy customer service, they don't deserve anyone's business.

I debated about writing this because this is a black-owned business. But honestly, just because you…read moreare black-owned doesn't mean you shouldn't strive to provide an excellent experience. I purchased a table for my family and friends to attend the Sip & Swirl Events in Livermore. We were excited to attend. We were told we would be in a VIP section and receive wristbands. This experience was supposed to include a table covering, ice bucket, charcuterie board, and a small centerpiece. We were also supposed to get pours from Staff Walking Through The Event. We were also told that VIP guests Did NOT need to check in with general admission. They stated that my guests and I would go straight to the VIP area, which would be near the event center. Our table would have my name on it, as well as eight pink wristbands. Since there were so many issues, I will list the points. The event started at 4 pm, and at 1:37 pm, I received an email stating that the event truck was broken into and all items for the event were stolen. She requested that we bring chairs, blankets, food, and wine glasses. When we arrived at the event, no one was there to greet or direct us. There was no check-in table, and I had to ask other event attendees who was running the event. After 10 minutes of searching for the host, I showed her my ticket and asked where my table was. She looked confused, walked away, and never returned. I then began to walk around the event to see if I could locate the table. I finally found my table with my name on a pink Party City wine bag, but they were still setting up my table. Which appeared to be an afterthought as we were separate from all the other tables. I then had to chase the host down again to get the wristbands for my guest. I asked about the charcuterie because, in the email, she said she had the items, just no boards. She responded she had the things but no boards, as they were stolen. However, she was trying to figure out a plan. Mind you, we never got any salami! There was no wine to sip or swirl as no one was working the event. They had two bars located clear across from our table. The lines were super long, and we were expected to stand in line for one pour. I made the best of the situation, so I went inside Wente and purchased wine for the table and two charcuterie boards. Only to be approached by someone who identified themselves as a helper of the host, stating that I could not bring outside wine into the event. Well, one, it's not outside wine; I purchased it at Wente Vineyards, and two, what do you expect us to do, sit at the table and wait for the non-existent workers to pour the non-existent wine? The DJ could not turn up the music until 6 p.m. due to other patrons at the winery who were not a part of our event, our table was clear across the other side. We were unable to hear the music. One of the event attendees had a medical emergency, and there was no event staff to be found. EMS was called, and the Wente staff had to come and assist her, and they were very helpful. Also, I'm still unclear; the host says her truck was broken into while she had lunch. So the event started at 4 pm. At noon, shouldn't you be at the event setting up and not getting lunch? I don't know. Maybe I'm a skeptic, but it sounds wild to me. Lastly, even if all your items were stolen, that doesn't account for you not having anyone working the event. Were the event staff stolen out of the truck as well? She also could have publicly addressed the attendees and said something to us to help us understand the flow of the event. It just appeared like we gathered together and all wore pink, but no one was there to organize. I'll say this: Our community always knows how to pivot and have a good time despite everything. I saw folks having pizzas delivered and buying wine. I know the Wente staff appreciated our purchases. The whole team at Wente was terrific, and they were very helpful! This is in no way a reflection of their service and their beautiful property. I plan to go to Wente again as the wine was excellent, and their staff were amazing!

I sent the following email to the host, April:…read more "Hi there - due to the unfortunate turn of events at Wente on Sunday, I'd like a refund. I bought 3 tickets & 3 "wine pass" wristbands. Because we were told not to bring certain items, we didn't. So we had to resort to using a plastic table covering as our "blanket" and borrow wine glasses from Wente. In addition, the wine "ran out" before we could use our "wine pass", so that resulted in us spending an extra $100 on Wente wine. No one even checked us in or provided an update to what was going on, so we really could have gone for free, but certainly not for damn near $100 per person. I'm sorry to hear about your van being broken into and the items stolen. Hopefully you can understand where I (& several other attendees who I've seen be vocal on social media about Sunday) are coming from w/ asking for a refund, especially since not much was or has been done to make up for it." My fiance and I came here with a deal from Living Social for a "wine making experience." The deal was a bit on the pricier side ($120), but it also came with six bottles of wine. Throughout the night we were able to taste about seven different wines and were also given several cheese pairings and a brownie, all of which were pretty delicious. Part of the deal was also to bottle our own wine to take home. Fun! The only real downsides were that I was expecting it to be more like a class, which it wasn't at all. We had a quick intro to the facility and short tour, then bottled our own wine, which only took a few minutes. While I wasn't expecting to go out and harvest and ferment our own grapes, since it was called "wine making," I thought there'd be a little more to it. I also couldn't help but think of what a clever advertisement the deal was for the facility, which was smart on their part, but also evident throughout the night as we learned about the actual wine making club and were reminded many times that cases of wine were available for purchase. Either way, any event that involves wine and cheese makes me happy, so I'd say it was a success.

Dom and Gloria and the rest of the crew are just terrific, and have become like family to us. We typically get the Napa Cab grapes and opt for blending just before bottling. That means, we crush straight cabernet sauvignon, and let that mature for almost two years. About a month before bottling we'll sit down with the winemaker and experiment. With small volumes we'll play around with adding 10% sangiovese or 3% petit verdot, or a dose of montepulciano, or whatever seems to fit. Sometimes we go with an addition, sometimes we just let the cab speak for itself. It is a very rewarding way to enjoy wine. And as I wrote in the Domenico review, their facility is terrific for holding events.
