Let me start off by saying that Lana and the Rainbow chefs crew did an outstanding job with accommodating my husband, Daniel, and I during the few months of planning and prepping for our wedding this past July 2022. Daniel and I started talking about and planning our wedding late February 2022. And we were recommended to reach out to Lana and her company Rainbow Chefs for the catering. Daniel and I were originally planning for a cocktail wedding, as opposed to a traditional sit down dinner. We were madly sending out inquiries to different food catering companies, food trucks, restaurants, etc., with no hope in regards to the insanely expensive prices for the amount of people we were expecting, about 200+. Finally, Daniel's manager suggested that we reach out to Lana. We scheduled a zoom meeting with her, and had an unforgettable first impression of her and her plan for our last minute wedding. She broke down every detail we needed to be aware of and prepared for, including prices, and even discussed different options her company could offer to us. It was not easy to plan a wedding with 200+ guest invitations, in 4-5 months, but thankfully we were lucky enough that Lana and her crew were available for our wedding date and were able to help us throughout the process. During the entire planning time, Lana diligently checked in on both Daniel and I, sometimes individually, making sure tasks were being done and loose ends were being tied in time for our big day. Not only was Lana on top of us daily/weekly regarding our wedding planning, but she was also conscientious toward our mental health and instilled lots of important advice. About a week before our wedding day, Lana, Kate and Viana came to the venue, along with our other vendors, to have an overall tour of the venue, to make sure they knew where to maneuver the food tables, the kitchen staff, the bar situation, etc. On the day of the wedding, Lana was exceptional! Her and the Rainbow Chefs crew made sure our guests were well taken care of. I got compliments from our family and friends about how great the staff was, so that definitely meant alot. Throughout the night, along with our wedding planner, Lana was making sure that Daniel and I ate, that we were aware of things she and her crew were doing, etc. They definitely helped ease some of our planning and event stresses. The communication, diligence and honesty that Lana and Rainbow Chefs presented to us throughout the entire planning and event process was one that we absolutely recommend to anyone who is planning a wedding or large event/party!! read more

We did a cooking course with the Rainbow Chefs in 2021 and still haven't received the recipes. They stopped responding to my text/emails once the course was over. Very questionable communication from the Rainbow Chefs Update- After three painful weeks, I have finally received the e-recipes that were promised to us in August, 2021. During the past three weeks, Lana from Rainbow chefs kept on promising that she will send the recipes to me without providing a date. I had to follow up with her multiples time to get an update. Along the way Lana kept on saying that Rainbow chefs went above and beyond to create the recipes for our camp and the recipes are supposed to be an "extra effort" for our camp, however, this was actually advertised to us before we signed the contract. I felt really annoyed that one dared to describe something that's 11 months late as "extra effort". In addition, the first version I received was full of typos/formatting errors and missing TWO dishes. Lana told me those were missing because she lost the recipe files--but according to her that everything was custom made for our camp so she had to write the recipes from scratch? If she had the "files" all this time why not just send to me? To conclude, lots of inconsistent information from Rainbow chefs. I would advise everyone to think twice before choosing to work with Rainbow chefs read more

My daughter did a few weeks of the beginner classes. (Just a little history on my child who is going through her 12 year old awkward and in-between faze with a few insecurities to battle. Never feeling quite too confident in a lot of her activities) And i just want to say that for an up and coming business my daughter was completely inspired!! She did the morning class for her main dishes and the afternoon classes for the dessert. Chef Lana emailed us every week my daughter was there, the recipes for both entrée's and dessert! I was ver happy my daughter has found something that she feels creative in and she felt so comfortable with chef Lana. She even taught how to make the dishes fancy for presentation. I will be signing her up again sometime in the fall once school settles. We were very happy to be part of the academy and also looking forward to the mom and daughter classes ! Side note: my daughter insisted cooking dinner for us almost 4 nights a week through out her experience at Les Petit Chefs... was the cutest thing but we were stuck doing the dishes of course cause of all her hard work!!!! read more

Rainbow Chefs helped make our annual TOCTW 2018 Event another HUGE success! Over 175 kids enjoyed a fun and also a learning filled day at our HP Palo Alto Campus. I have to say....I didn't even get to experience the class. I signed up for spring camp 2 weeks ago. I called today to ask a question, and was told that the camp had been canceled. Nobody called to tell me. I would have shown up monday morning with a negative surprise. I felt this was irresponsible. I now have a day to find a camp for my son! and, still waiting for a refund. NOW ON FOR THE GOOD NEWS... I have been talking to Jahvita and she has been nothing but accommodating. They were really apologetic about what had happened. We had the pleasure of hiring Rainbow Chef's to cater our small but wonderful wedding. They sent their chef Matt Legaspi, who completely amazed us with his skills, professionalism and creativity. He showed up on time and called ahead to let me know he was on his way. I had provided him with the menu and ingredients my family like for our lasagna dinner. He told me he would include his own appetizer and desert and that he would "Chef it up for us"... All of us had been running like chickens without heads and for the first time after the ceremony, we could finally exhale. Oh dear. We had Rainbow Chefs host our 9 year old's bday party with a total of 10 girls. What a disorganized disaster! First, I was assured that a three hour party would include four recipes including a dessert. Well, of course I wanted to make sure that we cooked things that the Birthday Girl actually likes to eat, right? Mine wanted pizza puffs, fried rice, "homemade" ramen, and cupcakes. I got so much push-back when I went over the proposed menu and was even told, "You know, your daughter's not the only one eating that day." Well, yes, but that doesn't mean we have to make and serve food she doesn't like and won't eat. Keep in mind: we selected only items that appear on their published menu selection! One thing my daughter LOVES is red velvet cupcakes. I took a TON of care to inform them of one guest's food allergy to red food dye, and they assured me that the red velvet cupcakes would use beet juice. Awesome! Then we arrive at the party, and I see red food dye. "Well, this never happens, but there was no beet juice at ANY of the markets!" If you had the party booked over a month in advance, would you wait until they day of the party to get a specialty product? As I watched them making cupcakes, there was NO COCOA in the red velvet cupcakes. Then they make a half batch of cupcakes with no red food dye for the girl with the allergy, and the instructor says, "You know, red velvet cupcakes are just vanilla cupcakes with red color." NONONONONO, that is just FALSE. All would be forgivable if the vanilla cupcakes were tasty. They were the worst cupcakes I've ever tasted. Next were pizza puffs, which was basically puff pastry with pizza toppings. To be fair, the girls really liked these when they were done. But for 10 girls and one instructor, want to know how many rolling pins were available? ONE. Yes, ONE rolling pin for 11 users. 10 people had to stand around watching one person roll out their dough. At this point in the party, we had cupcakes and pizza puffs in the oven, and the girls were STARVING. It was mid-afternoon (party started at 3pm). You would think experienced party planners would know how to pace things so that there was food to eat along the way. Nope. They got a drink of the homemade "orangina" they made and that was it. The party pretty much devolved from there, including me making rice crispies treats while the girls decorated their godawful tasting cupcakes (rice crispies treats were the substitute menu item when we were told it would take too long to make ramen, "and not everyone likes soup anyway," and it was going to be ramen *out of a package*). Also, the instructor forgot entirely that they were supposed to make fried rice, so while the girls were eating their pizza puffs and cupcakes, the instructor was the only one cooking the fried rice. And just for a cherry on top, one of the girls VOMITED after eating the fried rice. My daughter said the fried rice tasted funny and didn't eat much herself. How embarrassing to "host" such a party!!! I was also told that recipes would be sent to me via email so that we could share them with the group. Suffice it to say, I never heard back from them again. So thanks a lot, Rainbow Chef. Way to make a birthday party memorable for all the wrong reasons. read more

This company does to return messages & getting a live person to answer the phone is impossible. I signed my daughter up for one of their summercamps & it was cancelled. I have been seeking a refund since 7/7/2014 & I am assured it would be sent to me via 4 different emails over the last 3 months. While I can't speak to the quality of their classes, the need better customer service & refund procedures need improvement. read more

I cannot express how disappointed I am to write this review. If you see Rainbow Chefs, don't walk away... Run! Rainbow Chefs ran a "camp" at my child's school and it was 100% awful. Other parents have their own horror stories, so I will just share ours. The "counselors" were completely unfamiliar with children and with cooking, and they spent more time looking at their phones than they did watching our children. Unbeknownst to us, on the 2nd day of camp, one of the "counselors" decided to put our 7 year old child on a timeout, put a chair in the corner of the room and had our child face a wall. Then the "counselor" left the room and had an 11 year old "supervise." Our child ended up getting knocked off a chair, suffering a gash in his lip, and getting 6 stitches. And we incurred $4k in medical expenses. Lana, the owner of Rainbow Chefs, initially blamed our child, then other children, and then our school and community. Lana finally agreed to reimburse us our out of pocket costs... but then she repeatedly broke her commitments and did not follow through. It is now over 1 year and I am taking Rainbow Chefs and Lana to small claims court to recover our out of pocket costs. If you decide to send your child to Rainbow Chefs, GOOD LUCK! read more

As a parent, was amazed with their customer service, friendliness and subject matter expertise. All the guests loved the experience and we literally fought to have the last piece of their yummy chocolate cup cake! Rainbow Chefs has been a big part of our families lives for 4 years now so I thought it was time for an update. The expansion to birthday parties has served to be great addition to Rainbow Chefs offerings - we have done two different parties one for each of our kids and each party was themed as our kids chose, with plenty of fun food for the kids to eat and make, and left us with parents emailing for the recipes to the meals! We have also tried the Catering service for our adult dinner parties and the food has been impeccable and fresh. The sea bass cooked to perfection with succulent creative sides - things I would have never even thought of. Rainbow Chefs has been and continues to be a big part of our life and we have seen the positive impact it has on not only our kids but on us as well. I came across Rainbow Chefs when doing an online search for options for my 12 year old daughters birthday party. She LOVES to cook and loves the Food Network show, Cupcake Wars, so when I came across this party idea, it was PERFECT!! Kim was very easy to work with, from getting us booked at our location, to selecting our party details and she even helped me put together great party favors for all the girls. I paid $645 to Rainbow Chefs for a summer camp for my nephew. I was notified by Lana that the camp was canceled due to low enrollment and that a refund will be issued. This company is extremely unprofessional and disorganized. I spoke to Lana several times on the phone and through email and have not received my refund. She keeps saying that she will issue the refund immediately but I have not seen anything. Thank goodness I paid with my credit card as I can go file a complaint with my credit card to obtain my refund. SHADY COMPANY. STAY AWAY!! read more

My six year old twins were really looking forward to this cooking class being held after school at their elementary school. I couldn't believe they wanted to take a cooking class because they are picky eaters! However, after three months of the class, we have been pretty disappointed. For starters, the teacher never showed up the first day. No word to the parents, the school or the park and rec office who offered and signed students up for the class. Second, because of this missed class, the parks and rec office was told (and relayed to me) that Rainbow Chefs was going to add on a class at the end of the series to make up for this. That didn't happen either. Finally, as parents, there was NO communication about what the kids were making or recipes for how to duplicate it! How stupid that you would teach children how to cook/make something but not send something home so that they could do it again! This class was not inexpensive and I feel like we just got taken for a ride - totally not worth the money. Total disappointment...We won't be taking this class again and will tell others not to waste their money. read more

I am a big fan of LPC Academy and we love this amazing school! I have a 9 year old daughter who doesn't like to do anything in the kitchen. Not only she is a bad eater but also she would never help me out with cooking. After attending 2 weeks at LPC, I couldn't recognize my daughter. Lana, who is an amazing chef, was able to turn my kid around. She was able to teach my child about different kinds of food, nutrition, and great manners. Lana was able to identify which foods my child likes the most and turned them into healthy meals, which is very important to me. My daughter learned how to make unbelievable dishes, soups, bake.... it is just AMAZING. My daughter is a better eater now and started to help me in the kitchen more and more, especially on weekends, when I let her bake Lana's delicious deserts. I love LPS Academy and so does my daughter. Thank you, Lana, for being an amazing chef/ teacher and for opening such a great school for kids. We really needed one like this here, in Peninsula. My 12 year old daughter attended the gourmet bakeshop and did not learn anything. This may be better for younger children. The instructors did most of the cooking. The kids got to chop onions with a plastic knife, and do some mixing, but were not allowed by the stove / oven. My daughter does not like many vegetables, so she asked if she could put cheese in the quiche or leave out the onion. The chef told her that they could not make accommodations and she did not have the eat the food if she did not like it. One day they made mac-n-cheese - with onion and peppers. Many of the items made had peppers, onions, tomatoes, etc... so if your child does not veggies, this is not a good class. I called and talked to Lana. The next day the chef told the class was told not to complain to their parents, as they did not have to eat the food if they did not like it. I ended up making her lunch every day to bring with her. They made croutons one day. The chefs made the oil and herb mixture away from the kids, so my child could not even tell me what was in it, BESIDES THE DEAD FLY the instructor removed from the bowl, saying - it is just a fly. read more

I was super excited when our pre-k offered this as an enrichment program. However, our pre-k stopped offering it after the Chefs cancelled two weeks in a row. Our school felt that they were inconsistent. I wish it had worked out. Perhaps I will try them out in the future if they improve. read more

Our kid enrolled for one week for Summer Camp in the Highland campus. The experience was great. It was very professionally run, all the children were happy and truly enjoy the camp, activities were well thought out and the learning was real, as our kid immediately wanted to and able to repeat new recipes at home. LPC was a great for my 5 year old daughter! As of right now, we are very busy family who is constantly on the move & don't have time to cook 7 nights a week. I am glad my daughter now has the skill set to start to think about what is going into her tummy! I sent her to the Kinder Chef's Class which I was very delighted to taste the Teriyaki Salmon Dish when I arrived at the end of the course! I love that this is an at home business, I wouldn't feel comfortable sending my 5 year old daughter to work in a industrial kitchen & I feel that eating should be taught in a warm-family environment, which Svetlana, the instructor, offers! When I first dropped off Hailey Lana gave me a small explication about what the children would be doing that day! I was pleased to see that all of the ingredients where fresh and had nutritional value! I left feeling secure that my daughter would learn about proper table manners as well! I saw an improvement right away after bring her home, and tasting her dish! I would recommend LPC to all of my friends & plan on sending Hailey to the winter camp! 1 star = Eek! Methinks not, according to Yelp. If no stars were an option I would have done that. This "academy" is a joke. Where's the curriculum? An academy gives the illusion that there are skilled teachers with a background in the subject area they teach. This is NOT the case here. The one and only "teacher" is a woman who has ZERO nutritional education, ZERO degrees in child development or teaching certification. When presented with a lactose allergy she asked if Kefir (the yogurt drink) was ok, SERIOUSLY?! Do NOT send your child here. It's over priced and teaches children that "healthy food" lacks any flavor and is often burnt and inedible. The location is a personal residence that is in NO WAY regulated by ANY standards of health code as evidenced by the constant ant problem, the rotting food, improperly kept meat (sitting on the counter for hours), the inability to SAFELY accommodate those children with food allergies or sensitivities. I was offended when I learned that the 5 year olds were being taught about how many calories an egg has. As if Americans don't already have a broken relationship with food! There are several other places in San Mateo/Peninsula to send your child where they will learn to cook and bake in a relaxed environment and naturally learn about math through measuring and science through baking, etc. Les Petit Chefs Academy is NOT that place. They do not measure using tools but rather "eyeball" the amount because the recipes are either not written down or are grossly inaccurate AND the children are not encouraged to participate because "they might spill" and " it takes too long". Hey, here's a thought....slow down, it's not about the meal it's about the experience...but I guess that cuts into your profit margin. read more

My boyfriend and I have been using Rainbow Chefs personal cheffing services for a little over a month now. I filled out a contact form from the website without being too sure if we would be able to afford it or whether it would be any good. After an in depth conversation with Lana, we had decided what type of meals we were looking for and it was surprisingly within our budget. Now, every Sunday, one of the fantastic Rainbow Chefs comes to our home with groceries, cooks our dinners for the week and tupperwares it with heating instructions. The dinners are light, healthy, and delicious. We enjoy simple foods like a turkey and tomato ragu with salad and RC has been able to keep us healthy and happy, making our weekend dinners out much more enjoyable! read more

My daughter Samantha has always been interested in cooking and I'm personally not the best cook, so I enrolled her into lPC.I'm so happy with the results so far, Samantha has actually been teaching me recipes as well as healthier alternatives that she learned from Chef Lana and has even made new friends! We came in with a tall order: a cooking birthday party at our home for 15 energetic 3- and 4-year-olds. Rainbow Chefs delivered an experience that was fun (and age-appropriate) for the kids and hassle-free for us. My communication with Lana leading up to the event was great, and the chef who was assigned to us was friendly, professional and on time the day of the party. I do think the pacing could have been a bit faster to keep the kids' interest in between tasks, but I recognize that preschoolers are very challenging for anyone to keep totally under control! Super responsive, kind, thoroughly professional, adaptable, good food. They responded to a rather odd request to cater a special event and yet did it with aplomb. Or rather, just one guy - Chef Sacha - did it! The only minuscule hiccups were about the scope of what the caterer would do (i.e., set the table? unclear) and the timing, but that was also mostly our fault on the communication side.
