Stunning Vineyard views of the Bay Area and beautiful farmland and amazing Cabernet! Great secret for a small winery! Family owned. I first went to Vidovich Vineyards when they first opened up because I saw its sign and i decided to check it out. The family just opened it up to public. The view from the location is stunning! The Cabernet was absolutely amazing and so i joined their wine club! I moved away, but i stopped by the winery and was so happy to see the Wine Spectator in 2024 rated their 2021 Monte Bello Cabernet at 94 points!! I love sitting at the top of Santa Cruz Mountain, in this small like home experience, and drinking fantastic wine!! Thank you to the great staff who were so friendly to me!

One of the best views to be had in the Bay Area, let alone a winery. Though it is an arduous trek up the hill, wine tasting with a view like this is a lovely way to spend a weekend day. We came for Mother's Day, and there was a decent crowd. Most of the seating is outdoors of course, but there is ample seating inside if you prefer that. The staff was very attentive, and generous with pours. And with a tasting fee of $25, this place checks all the boxes for a nice wine outing in the South Bay.

4.5/5: view 3.5/5: wine This venue is beautiful and the view itself is worth the trip. I think my hesitation may be how quiet it was for a Saturday afternoon. We were a large party of 8-10 and were the only patrons on arrival. A few other small groups came in though as we tasted. The staff was super sweet and even came outdoors to us to pour wines. They were also really accommodating when we got to hot and wanted to move back indoors- definitely not something that could have happened at a busier winery. I definitely think it was reasonably priced tastings and wine. I would return again.

Look at this view!

Finally got to visit this dog friendly vineyard and it was wonderful! Staff very helpful and view is amazing. Wine tasting was great as sampled reds. Will need to come back to get a bottle from the red that was to my liking. Definitely recommend this vineyard as it's family friendly. Thank you for hosting us on our day off!

The view!

I visited for the first time this past weekend and had a really nice time! I even became a wine club member! The wines were delicious and the view is incredible! Also they're dog friendly :) I can't wait to go back!

What a wonderful Sunday experience! My girlfriend and I were supposed to go up to Sonoma, but we happily rearranged as we ended up getting a later start to our day. No matter! We ended up going to Vidovich on a whim and were pleasantly surprised. We'd known about their wines from Vino Locale in Palo Alto and enjoyed them enough to check it out! We got there at around 2 on a Sunday and it was the perfect vibe. Quite a few other people, but pleasantly chill. The views especially were spectacular. We did their tasting, which showcased their collection of Cabs. For those curious, the place is especially known for their Cabernets. If you're a fan, great! If not, I really recommend giving it a shot. I'm not a Cab man myself, but I quite enjoyed their collection (their 09' blend was especially smooth). Mike and Jack were working that day and both were quite informative about the winery, the collection, as well as a few other protips about the wines they offered. Jack was an absolutely wonderful host, making us feel comfortable and helping us appreciate the differences in the wines offered. We left with a bottle, but will certainly be back again. If not for the amazing wines, than for the amazing scenery, the peaceful environment, or the hospitality offered by Jack! Would absolutely recommend to anyone looking for a great winery away from the touristy bustle of Napa/Sonoma, with just as good grapes.

Great winery all the way at the top of Montebello road. We came here after stopping at Picchetti. The view is absolutely amazing and they have cute picnic tables where you can sit and enjoy the view. They only have cabs and a limited selection of wine, but I really enjoyed the great service!! We ended up chatting for an hour and didn't realize the time had gone so quickly. There was also a live band so I wish we could have stayed and enjoyed that. Definitely worth the drive up.

Ask the Community - Vidovich Vineyards

Are pets allowed inside?

If it is a service dog yes. We do allow all dogs outside. We love doggies here.

Do you use all your estate grapes? Or do you sell to other wineries and producers?

Hi Edmund! Sorry for the slow response. We don't quite utilize all of our grapes - we sell a portion of the Montebello Road to other producers. I hope that helps!

A freind and I went to the Ridge Winter Soiree - a member event in February. This was on a Thursday…read moreand even though this event was supposed to be open to all members during the day but because the weather was so bad, members were given slots of time that they could attend. We went in the early evening. The place is in the Cupertino hills and up a steep hill, driving can be tricky and one you get there, there is not much parking, at least for the number for people who were there. And the parking is precarious - you pull right up to the edge of a steep drop. And backing out of the parking spot can be even trickier. Ridge had 5 stations set up with Station 1 starting with their rose, it was quiet good. When you walked into the tasting room, you were greeted, you name checked against the list and you were handed a tasting of the rose. In the outer room, there was only standing room but the adjoining smaller inner room had a couple of tables and chairs. Station 2 was small bites and they were small, which is surprising for a member soiree! There was a choice of a tiny bowl of hummus with a couple of carrot sticks and some pita chips and a small piece of toast with duck pate and a slice of chicken fat. They both tasted good but I have been to other member events at other wineries where there was a reasonable amount of food. Stations 3, 4 and 5 were red wines and quite good. Station 5 was in a separate building and was served with a tiny cup of saved cheese. As our time was up - 4-6pm, we left but barely 2 miles down the road, there was a fallen tree that completely closed off traffic both sides. Everyone who was leaving turned back around because we were told that it would take a couple of hours to move the tree. Even though tastings stopped at 6, Ridge opened up some more bottle and went beyond the 6pm hour to accommodate the people who did not want to be sitting in their cars for 2 hours. Funny enough, almost every one who was struck up in the mountain were the people who were attending the soiree. It dd not take 2 hours but one hour abd the folks at the winery were good natured about it. They kept us updated regularly on the situation. Ridge has great wines but their customer service, from precious experience, could be better.

Prices are on the higher end, but wines are high quality They allow outside food. Have both indoor and outdoor seating. Decent views. Service was excellent. They just opened last year so I guess not many people know about it. But the drive up is rough and winding. The one way dirt road is shared with hikers too. It is sister winery to Mount Eden. Mount Eden is only open weekdays while Domaine Eden is only open weekends. They serve both wineries' wines for tasting. They have 5 tasting flights varying from $30, $40, $45, $60, and $65. 3 wines per flight and they pour a good portion. We got to try 3 different flights to share. Mount Eden Estate , Chardonnay, and Cabernet flight. All the wines were pretty good. Fruit forward and bold. Our favorites were the first Chardonnay , Pinot noir Tanaka project , and Cab from Mount Eden library. I believe it was 3 bottles purchase to waive a tasting fee. Pricey wines. There was only one male staff. He was friendly and made sure we had enough shade when the umbrella shade moved. You can bring outside food. Nice Mountain View.

The process of booking a time was flawless - response was immediate and the booking was made over text with a email reminder. I booked for a Sunday at 3:30pm, the tastings are 90 minutes and they close at 5pm. The drive is something else, it's beautiful but it is a long, slow drive up winding roads and I lost internet connection a couple of times on the drive but well worth it - the winery is on 360 acres, most of it undeveloped but you drive into the working portions. There is plenty of parking but some of it is far and the closest parking gets filled up quickly, especially on a beautiful day. I was told that it gets busy around 2pm so come before then to beat the crowd. I parked and checked in, you have to go inside to the tasting room to check in and pay. There is some seating outside and inside and also along the picturesque windows looking out into the vineyard. There is a private seating area, separate from the tasting room that is free to members or if you spend $500. The tastings themselves are $45 and they have 2 different flights. That is a bit expensive but not overly so. I picked the Pinot Noir and Chardonnary flight and they also have a darker red flight. You get 5 pours with each tasting. There were all women who were serving and they were GREAT - welcoming, friendly and helpful. I asked if they had any 2017 chardonnay left and the lady helping me made sure she checked and got me the answers to all my questions. The wines themselves are pretty pricey, the chardonnay's were $85. The Pinots are poured before the whites and when I asked about it, I was told that their chardonnays are acidic and pouring a red after makes the reds taste flat. All in all - a great visit. I would definitely recommend this winery and I will be going back!!

Shocking. ** Chardonnay was out of this world. Good nose, legs, and mouth feel, long finish, but we still couldn't get past the $35 tasting fee pp and only $10 of the tasting fee is waived if you buy a bottle‼ That still brings it down to $25... Yikes! The wine attendant was drab, seemed uninterested in us..,,., no smile or joie de vivre. Not "welcoming " at all. 20% industry discount (parsimonious) Usually a 30% discount for industry /trade. 20% is usually a wine club discount. Signage is non-existent heading west. Drove by for a couple of miles looking for the sign. Positive: Chardonnay was very well balanced The first Pinot Noir was very well balanced Beautifully decorated for Christmas season Having ability to sit at a round table with the four chairs was a plus for us older folks. The wine attendant waited on us at the table which was a plus. Summary: Being a 70+ person I have a lot of experience growing grapes, a bit of hands on wine making, consuming wine since the early 70's, and pouring at several different winery tasting rooms in Paso Robles and Alameda. won't be back. 20 years ago the winery was booming with customers, the staff was very friendly and informative. The tasting fee was nonexistent if you bought a bottle it was waived. With so many other wineries to choose from we probably won't return.
