Conviently located right next to the Pincchetti open space preserve, the option for a glass of wine after a hike is one I couldn't not pass up. They open at 11am so that gave me plenty of time to hike before hand. Even right at opening there was a good amount of people that run in the second the gate is open to grab a table. You can get wine by the glass, the bottle, or set up a tasting. In this case just a glass was sufficient. I got the Sparking Brut Rosé. It was delicious though I will say, on an empty stomach post hike, it hit harder than it normally wood. They don't have good options that I saw and judging by the other tables, it's being your own everything. It does get kind of loud but overall it was really nice to just sit and sip on some wine with some really pretty scenery. I'd definitely come again to have a picnic on the grass and do a full wine tasting. read more

We had a lovely hike up to the tasting room and enjoyed a flight each where we chose individually! We followed it up by grabbing some glasses to go outside to the picnic tables and enjoyed sandwiches we had packed. I've been trying to get to Picchetti Winery for some time and finally made it today. It's a beautiful drive to the winery, which is next to the trailhead. We hiked the Zinfandel trail and then had a lovely picnic lunch. There are several picnic tables and most are shaded. We then made our way to the tasting room. It was quite crowded today, but we didn't have to wait too long. For $25 we got to taste five wines. The pours were okay for the price. The wines were yummy and staff very friendly. I wish the tastings were seated though. I will definitely be back, possibly in the fall. read more

Casual, fun, peaceful, along with great wine! One of the best spots to come to if you're looking to come enjoy a relaxing day with friends and family. We usually come here after doing wine tasting at Ridge winery as this is located at the bottom of the hill. They offer walk-in wine tasting or you can purchase wine directly and enjoy it outside on the property. It has an outdoor barn vibe with a lot of picnic tables and chairs available for seating. I would recommend bringing some bites such as charcuterie or lunch items to enjoy as they do not have food available. Our favorite wine to order is the sparkling Zinfandel. It's perfect on a warm/hot day as it's served chillin temp. Fruit forward wine with a nice sparkling finish. I've never had a wine like this at another place but it's the perfect solution for those who prefer red wine but want a cold drink like a Chardonnay or Rose. Friendly staff and great wine. We had a lovely Mother's Day picnic and wine tasting at the winery. There's lots of tables and open Meadow to set up your picnic or gathering. We were able to bring camping chairs and blankets. They have a wine tasting room, but you can also purchase wine to enjoy outside. We purchased a bottle of red and white and it came with an ice bucket and glasses. When we were done, we simply returned the glasses and bucket to the tasting room. Mother's Day was incredibly crowded, but otherwise you can always find a table or place on the grass. The tables are generally shaded as is part of the grass area. There's plenty of places for families to run around and there is an adjacent hiking trail. read more

I had such a superb experience at this winery, would highly recommend! My boyfriend did great finding it and planning it into our weekend getaway. We did some hiking on one of the trails first before stopping in for wine tasting. I'm not big on wine whatsoever, but tell me why every wine we chose on the tasting menu was just so good! I was really surprised by how much I enjoyed the red wine as it was probably the first red wine I've tried that I actually liked. Unfortunately I didn't get a picture of the tasting menu when we went so I don't remember the names of the ones I tried, but I think there are easily no bad options. I like the fact that I can start a hike at a winery and have done so many times. However, this last time made me second guess my everreturning to this winery. When we arrive, there was no notifications that anything was amiss. Upon attempting to use a bathroom, that's where the problems started. The bathrooms were both closed. When I inquired about another bathroom, I was informed that the nearest one was down the hill at the reservoir and I would have to drive there to use them. When I asked what employees were using, I was told they either had to hold it or wait until their break to drive down the hill. I was then informed I could used the surrounding woods if I wanted to (which I was then so lucky to see a man drop his pants and pee right there in the parking lot). I can't even imagine how many peoples urine I had to walk through that day. Absolutely disgusting!!!! There are nicer places, closer to me ,where I don't have to walk through people's urine to get to. read more

I love coming here. It's pretty close to my house, it's not difficult to get to. It is busy on the weekends but on the weekdays it's so quiet and peaceful. I've done two team events here and we had the best afternoon sitting around picnic tables, drinking wine, eating lunch / snacks, and playing board games. Food - you can bring outside food here. You can't bring outside alcohol (makes sense). We brought games and a BT speaker (kept on a lower volume) and had a blast. Very kid friendly. Be warned this is a kid friendly place.... I brought a group of 8 here for my birthday in November. We were able to get a group of 2 tables away from the families, thankfully. The grounds were well kept and the tables were wooden but clean. The wine was absolutely amazing, a bit pricey but delicious (+/-$50 per). Picchetti Winery sits atop a beautiful winding road with gorgeous view and (definitely a first for me!) its own hiking trail! We didn't go this time since we had no idea and were underprepared for a hike, but we walked a bit down the trail and it was so lovely. I was very pleasantly surprised by the open grassy areas, picnic benches, and the sheer amount of families/groups present! I had never seen so many happy kids running around a winery, it was super wholesome. Tastings are only $25 per person (sharing is OK), and you have the freedom to pick from a list of wines. The tasting was super lax, our pourer did a great job explaining some background about our selected wines and was very timely with each pour. We were in and out in about 25 minutes. I had a great experience! I think this place is great for a fun casual date, and you can even go on a little walk/hike on the trail afterwards to talk about what you tasted. A winery with a hiking trail? Sign me up! Located right on the outskirts of Cupertino, this winery makes for a nice mini get away from the rest of South Bay. My friends and I hiked the Zinfandel Trail first and treated ourselves afterward with refreshing wine (obviously the best form of hydration following a hike in 80-90 degree weather). I opted for the wine tasting, which is an INCREDIBLY amazing price. $20 for 5 different wines? That alone is enough to draw me back here. But the service and ambiance really made it for a laid back and relaxing experience. I ended up sampling the Savignon Blanc, the Brut Zinfandel, Cabernet Sauvignon, the Port, and the Mission Angelica. I'm not one who can identify wine notes or anything of that sort, but all were incredibly tasty and the reds were not too bitter. For the Port, they serve you a piece of fudge with it, and the pairing between the two elevated the experience! The inside has multiple spots to stand for wine tasting, but no indoor seating. The outside is filled with picnic benches and chairs in an open space, making it perfect to hold a picnic and play some outdoor games over some wine. I'm excited to know there's a great winery nearby in South Bay - don't need to make the long drive to Napa! I'm really excited to show this place to friends in the future! read more

Nice winery in San Francisco. The property itself is a bit smaller than I expected and could use some updating, but the atmosphere is still rustic and charming. When you arrive, you head into the tasting room to order a bottle, glass, or tasting. The tasting is pretty expensive at $25, so instead we chose to order a bottle of rosé for $30. The white rosé was drier than I've had before, but had nice notes of strawberry and watermelon. We found a picnic table in the shade to relax and enjoy the summer weather. Many of the other tables had brought their own food and table cloths, almost like a picnic, which I thought was very smart and fun. There were quite a few bugs that flew around us and tried to get into our drinks, but this is expected being outdoors. Overall, it was a nice experience and the wine was good. The best way to enjoy this place is to gather few friends to have a picnic under the tree shades. Many appeared to have exactly the same idea. As for wines, you can open a couple bottles or pour as many glasses as you wish or both. In that sense, this is like an outdoor wine bar. We brought our picnic basket and poured 4 reds: Red Pavone, Graciano, Syrah, and Cab. Pavone is a Bordeaux blend, the rest varietal wines. Overall, Syrah was our favorite and Cab least (although still good). As an amateur wine drinker, I think they are all good ones. Per glass or bottle, I think they are probably 20% above similarly rated wines. That's within norm for family wineries in this Cupertino area. They typically sell only from the premise and settled on the prices the customers will pay. It's not a bad idea to plan for a ~3 mile hike at the adjacent open ranch and finish it with a wined picnic here. We did a slightly more vigorous one at the nearby Fremont Older Preserve. The trailhead is just 15 minutes' drive away. read more

Our server was Hunter, a very knowledgeable and fun guide who took us on a journey ranging from a sparkling Brut Zinfandel to a magnificent Chardonnay to very well-balanced reds. There wasn't one wine I did not like, but the Zinfandel was extraordinary because it was lighter than most. The property offers hiking trails with beautiful views and picnic tables. The winery closes at 4 pm but the outdoor area is available until 5 PM. Guests are encouraged to bring their food. Just please clean up. I highly recommend the hike and the wines! A not so hidden gem that I wished I knew about when I first moved to the Peninsula! Perfect location for families who want a gathering and have wine at their disposal. The winery has tastings and bottles to purchase. We tried a few of their rose, red, and white and all were solid. What makes it unique is how family oriented this place is. There's a lot of picnic tables and open grass to have a picnic (bring your own food!). Not the ideal place for those without kids though (go to Napa/Sonoma instead :-D). They also have a few peacocks that were a hit with the kids. We are members and visit Picchetti a few times a year. We have always loved how family friendly it is, and have enjoyed many relaxing afternoons as a family picnicking, and enjoying the sunshine with a bottle of wine. However, on our most recent visit, things were over the top. A family was hosting their child's birthday party on the lawn, with a bubble lady with a microphone surrounded by 8-10 kids under 3. My very first time visit to San Jose and while stopping by at the information booth at San Jose ( SJC) Airport, a kind lady that worked that day gave us some wonderful advice, she mentioned this winery. Picchetti Winery, which was so close by to the hotel we were staying at in Cupertino. It is really only known to locals, when we arrived at Pichetti, one of the staff who gave us information about Picchetti, asked us, "how did we find out about Pichetti?" I guess he was surprised to see non locals visiting Pichetti that day. The drive to Picchetti was nice, there is also access to open space hikes at trails nearby. My bucket list when I am in shape, I would love to do the hike. I noticed the fun sign in front, " Slow, Adults at Play",which I had to snap a photo with my other half. Picchetti Winery, started in 1880s is one of the oldest surviving wineries in California. Picchetti offers a variety of award winning wines. Picchetti wines are only sold here at this Winery. Besides the wine tasting, special bonus during my visit was seeing the beautiful Picchetti Peacock. What a very nice experience at Picchetti, my husband and I have to admit we were buzzed from the wine tasting, We got the build your own tasting flight of five wines for 15.00 +tax. The wines we chose were very nice, smooth and strong. That is some good stuff right there. If I were to move, I would move here just so I can be close to this winery, I can join the wine club and be a regular too!! haha, overall wonderful experience here, I definitely make a stop at Picchetti again.
