This is one of the few great wine stores that actually has an extensive collections of wines, and older vintages that you will never get from Total Wine, BevMo, Draeger or even K&L! They also conduct Master Classes, inviting wine makers from all over the Old and New worlds. These classes are fun and they also pair food with the wines you will be tasting! If you have not been to Artisan, you should take a trip there to check it out! read more

James recommended and delivered a perfect mix of wine and champagne for my 60 person gathering in San Jose, only 5 days prior to the party date. Highly professional and a joy to work with him. read more

Amazing wine store. Dont just go there to buy wine. Go there to talk to staff about what you would like. They know their stuff: not because they want you to buy wine, but because they LOVE wine. James and especially Christine are amazing sommeliers. And yes, prices are reasonable as well for their very, very wide selections. read more

Definitely a hidden gem! This place is a wine lover's dream! I love how they offer such a wide variety of wines from all regions, making it easy to explore and discover new favorites. The staff is incredibly attentive and takes the time to thoroughly help you choose something that suits your taste. Their knowledge and dedication really make the experience enjoyable and personal. Whether you're a seasoned wine enthusiast or just starting to explore, this is the perfect spot to find exactly what you're looking for read more

I"ve been coming for years. They are a great place to find an unusual wine at a great price. And a great place to taste wines. They're happy to recommend wines without passing judgement on your taste in wines. read more

Meh. Showed up looking for a nice bottle of fizz (and said as much). Was ushered into the fizz room and assured that they'd be back in a moment. Was ignored for 5-10 minutes until I walked out. I don't know if it's correlated or coincidence, but I was coming from a day of working in the trades and looked, well, dusty. Either way, I went down the street and bought some Dom elsewhere. (And truthfully, if they'd made a compelling case, I'd have spent more than that.) read more

Artisan Wine & Spirits Mountain View CA Wed 4/12/23 © Had $1.5K Bourbon Hand-Delivered locally to my home! A Gift from my overseas IT DevOps friend! Thank you Paul! My IT guy who lives in Europe has surprised me with home hand delivery! And thank you to Artisan Wine & Spirits, what a unique store right here in my hood! Service, world class! It's a rare thought-after tiny-batch boutique Bourbon, only 2 bottles in stock! I patronized this gem of a store for rare finds in beer & wines for a decade, at least! It used to be called Artisan Wine Depot. This is the place I know I can always count on when looking for wine for any occasion - whether to gift, to bring to a party, or to get for yourself! There's very extensive selection of wonderful wines you can explore. The pricing is reasonable (not inflated just because of the use of the word Artisan), and the service is out of this world, friendly and helpful! There are great finds to be had here! So much better than your run of the mill BevMo stuff:) There's a lot of controversy in the whiskey market, it's very strange right now, but the overall fact is, a lot of these whiskeys are taking a long time to make & that creates extra scarcity... prices are through the roof! Procuring a good bourbon is an undertaking, because of the popularity & demand that grew exponentially during the pandemic. Real completion for these bottles on the market! I'm going to enjoy this W.L.Weller Single Barrel Straight Bourbon Whiskey immensely! Cheers y'all! *Well, he's drinking down the bourbon like it was soda pop, Trying to quell a feeling he knows ain't gonna stop, He's mortgaged out his blood for one more chance to breathe [ update Review #765 w 1 pix on May 2, 2023 ] W.L.Weller Single Barrel Straight Bourbon Whiskey! $1.5K Hand-Delivered locally from my overseas DevOps! Beautiful storefront, with an extensive collection. Exceptionally friendly and knowledgeable staff. Thanks again for the recommendation!

Do you like wine? then you don't need this review you should have been here before. :) Seriously though you can go to your big box stores and have a huge selection, but does anybody there actually know their wine? come here and have someone who actually loves wine help you find what you're looking for. I myself go here because they have stuff i want that i can't find anywhere else. Now i'm a customer for life because of how i'm treated there and they will order the wines i'm looking for. love this place. read more

I've been coming to Artisan wine for over 15 years. I actually use to frequent both of their older locations located in mountain view, and also in Los Altos; across the street from Mountain View. This hands down is my favorite wine shop. Everyone in the store is super friendly and very knowledgeable about their products. However i must give compliments to James, he is a treasure trove of information. He has lead me along many journeys across different regions and always leads me to a gem. After going to Artisan wine, you will be spoiled with your selection. You will realize that your normal wine shops just dont cut it anymore. Artisan wine has the cult favorites as well as some of the more casual stuff. Even after covid, the store has pivoted and still has excellent service. You can always find something amazing here and delivery is painless. Give this store a shot! You wont be sorry read more

I'm a massive single malt collector based in the east coast. Not only did these guys have a bottle I was hunting endlessly for but the price was incredible, so no brainer there. Even after I placed that order I decided I wanted another bottle, and they let me include it before they shipped it and didn't charge me additional. You guys are on my radar now, and it was a pleasure doing business with them. read more

I called today and spoke to a gentleman (sorry I didn't get your name) I asked for a specific wine for an important family friend. Unfortunately they didn't carry it but he recommended me another similar one they had and held it for me. When I came in he mentioned a different store may have had it and he gave me their info and They ended up having it. No I didn't make a purchase with them here unfortunately but that doesn't mean I won't be back! Great customer service comes a long way. I'll return again for any future wine purchases. Thank you ! read more

Artisan is a gold mine for amazing wines at equally amazing prices! I also find the staff to be very knowledgeable, helpful and passionate about their jobs (the perfect combo). I highly recommend attending one of their weekly tastings if you're looking to learn more about wine or just simply try a variety of incredible wines. Recently, I brought a bottle of Vintage Moet 2006 to a fancy dinner in NYC. I bought it at Artisan for just $70. It was on the restaurant's wine list for $350 and it would probably have been worth close to every penny at that price given how good it tasted. When trying to find some more of this wine, I realized most other retailers were charging at least $110+. This is just one example of the deals that can be found at Artisan! read more

Artisan Wine & Spirits - Beer, Wine & Spirits Near Me - Mountain View, California

This place is amazing! They are super helpful and informative, and I love the fact that they are welcoming of all wine drinkers across the spectrum. They make time for the newbies as well as the connoisseurs. I also appreciated that you can go to the staff with your likes and dislikes, as well as a price range, and they will provide many suggestions to meet your needs. You can tell that the staff really loves wine and spirits and also wants to share that love. The location is super convenient, just off El Camino, and don't be afraid of parking because there is a huge lot behind the building. I will definitely be back whenever I am feeling at a loss of what to pick but want to make sure that I make a good impression (e.g. fancy BBQ at the big boss' house!) or want to ensure that I pick a special present. read more

They've a good selection of wines from different regions of the world. On learning that the wine I wanted was no longer available, Matthew helped me find 2 wines that were from the same region, one similar in taste and the other a blend which I'd never tried before. He also explained about the varietals and the flavor differences. I highly recommend Artisan Wine & Spirits to all Wine aficionados. read more

Always world class service. Great service oriented staff! Website was having issues and the staff immediately handled my order.

James Tran rocks! He's so knowledgeable, kind and fun! And, yes, he loves his wine! Great selection and prices, too.

My favorite local wine shop by quite a bit. An excellent selection from around the world and knowledgeable staff. Never disappoints!

I came into this place for the first time and I had a wonderful experience. I was helped right away, the staff was very knowledgable, and their selection is awesome. I also felt that their prices were fair, and their sales prices were more than fair. I think this is a great place when you want to try something new. Also, two little pro-tips for this place: 1. If you are having an event, they give discounts when you buy in bulk. So ladies (or gentlemen), if you are having your wedding and would like champagne for toasts and whatnot, this is a great option. 2. They do wine tastings which I found really fun. I think that if you are looking for something new to try, it is a great opportunity to give something out of your normal go-to's a shot. read more

**************************** REVIEW 895 ******************************** I always love their wine selections here. Great service each and every time I visit. However, if I'm 110 lbs, 5'6" I have a hard time navigate through this shop, so afraid that my handbag would hit and break a few bottles, how can a handicapped person be able to navigate through here?! I wish they can organize the shop a little more, I always have to ask for assistant because I'm afraid to break these bottles. Although, a lot of time I know exactly what I'm looking for, I don't need to ask for assistant every single time. Another way to shop here is when you get their email, call or purchase online, they hold it for you and you just need to to pick up! However, it takes away the thrill of browsing through wines and wines and wines! read more

Artisan Wine & Spirits - Got champagne? - Beer, Wine & Spirits Near Me - Mountain View, California

See all

Contrary to what many have said, I actually found the random boxes of wine and in general "organized" chaotic view in the old locations (El Camino, and Evelyn) to actually be the charm of this place. It gave a very non wine snob feel, and the owners I believe are a sister and brother team who are always friendly and eager to recommend wines based on their own experience. I don't know if they still do free tastings if you hit a certain purchase tier since they have started drawing ridiculously large crowds (esp for Napa, French Bdx, and Champagne) ever since they first moved to the El Camino location, but I recall the owners have been super chill about it - that is, if you buy some bottles and ask about it usually they send you on your way with a glass. On occasions they have special pricing but you need to be on their email list. For example, the latest Nicolas Feuillatte entry level rose champagne was at least 10 to 15% cheaper than anywhere else I can find. I also used to stock up on Stags Leap Artemis there as they have the best pricing for case purchases even including Costco. Not sure if they still stock them anymore. It's one of the better wine stores in the Bay Area, with always competitive pricing and an eclectic selection. read more

This place is awesome! The staff is super friendly and knowledgeable. As mentioned in other reviews, they're very nice and it never feels pretentious. Two things great about their selection: 1) They have interesting, seasonal things - e.g. the front of the store is loaded with interesting sparkling rose today (in the summer). Not just the cheap $10 bottles like at safeway either. 2) They have a great selection of standards (e.g. the big Napa cabs you can find anywhere), but more importantly they have a ton of wines with high RP and WE rankings all over the store with prices. Most wine stores focus on getting you to buy expensive stuff - Artisan Wine Depot makes sure you can get excellent wine at a reasonable price. This is definitely the place I'll visit next time I need to pick up wine (and it's out of my way). PS. They also have a good beer selection (Belgians, Germans, West Coast IPAs, etc.) read more

Total snob!! I'm a big foodie and not well versed in wine but do like to drink good wine. Have many nice wine snob friends. They're just snob good luck in selling! I was interested in buying Elijah Craig 12 Year Barrel Proof Batch C920 from them. They stated: Retail Price: $120.00 Artisan Wine Depot Price: $94.97 You save $25.03! Best shop in the Bay Area! Great selection and amazing owners! I will be coming here for years to come!

Artisan Wine Depot is this crazy little wine (and spirits) store with too many bottles in the space. The people are really incredibly helpful. I've gone in asking to match wine to food at a particular price point (both low, for large parties, and high, for fancier dinners), and they're great at that. I've had people there tell me, well, I'd serve this wine over that wine. They totally geek out about favorites of mine, like single vintage champagne. And they remember - ie, last time I was in, they told me my favorite champagne was out of stock but the had recommendations for what else I could get. They have tastings on a regular basis. There is sometimes a charge, which can be applied towards a purchase. It's a great way to learn about wines. read more

The owners are very knowledgeable with every wine they have. They are eager to help you find what you need and are super nice!!

They have fantastic selections of wines, champagnes and any kind of hard liquors if you are looking for something special. I got really good wines that I don't see often at liquor stores. Just love what they have. Special occasions.... you should go and check them out. read more

i love Artisan Wine & Spirits. As someone who doesn't know much about wine, I always find enjoyable bottles at a good value. The different pre-set cases have helped me learn a lot about different types of wines - what I like and I don't like. Really a gem. read more

My local wine shop! I feel so lucky that this place is only a couple minutes from my place and has such a wide selection of wine and even some spirits. It's always a pleasure to stop by because everyone is so friendly and chill. The employees are super helpful in providing suggestions, and I really like how they have a large variety of half bottles if you just want to try something. Their prices are fair and competitive. It is incredibly convenient to purchase wine on their website and pick it up at the store. I love to bring wine/champagne as a party gift, and I know I'll always get something good here. It's somewhat of an adventure to browse their large selection since there is just wine EVERYWHERE. Hidden treasures await at every box. I like that they have print-outs with reviews on certain wines, but sometimes you can't find that particular one. It doesn't really matter though because you'll always walk away with something wonderful! Lately I've been lucky to have been invited to complimentary wine tastings for my previous wine purchases. It's a super nice bonus for supporting this business! You're going to allow me to try 6-10 different wines for free? Thank you, how kind! Don't mind if I do! Speaking of kind people - Christine and James are the nicest and so incredibly knowledgeable. James is always super friendly and somehow recognizes my purchases. He is able to tell me what I would like based on what he knows I've bought in the past. Does that mean I am buying too much wine or he just has a good memory?? Support small local businesses! Small parking lot in the back is convenient and easily accessible since this store is on a corner and has 2 openings to the lot. If you buy a lot, they're really nice and help you bring it to your car! So friendly! read more

Best wine store, on par with K&L. Every time I go in, I say, I'm looking for X, at $Y per bottle, for Z occassion, and they knock it out of the park. One time I was choosing a wine to bring to a friend's parent's for dinner, and they are super into Italian wines, and I let him know that the friend is in wine sales for a certain company, and he went out of his way to pick a wine that was not in her sales catalog, because he just knew her catalog. Wtf. The family was crazy impressed with the choice of wine. You never go wrong here, and they will help you with that $100 gift bottle, or that $15 cheap and cheerful bottle. read more

I used to go to the old location on VIlla back in the day. When they moved I kind of lost touch. Recently I was eating nearby so I dropped in. Man the inventory is almost claustrophobic. I walked into one of the rooms with the late harvest wines. Chateau Rieussec, Royal Tokaji and some other goodies. However I kept myself in control and raided the beers instead. A solid offering of the worlds crafts. Mikkeller sours were my score that day. read more

I love the wine selection here and all the e-mails I get about updates to their inventory. The staff is very knowledgable and super friendly. I'm sure if you wanted you could talk for hours on end about what wine you are looking for and why, and they can help. They also have a lot of new and upcoming wines, and they have a bit of a nice older vintage selection too from time to time. They are not stuffy or arrogant, and they are clearly in the business because they love wine. I especially like the various tastings they do, and they do a great job hosting them. Will be back many times! read more

I rarely write reviews, but great service demands it. I popped in here yesterday after work to grab a couple of nice bottles as a team going away gift for our manager's departure. The woman who helped me didn't just immediately steer me to a bottle, but she asked me a couple of thoughtful questions and helped me find two bottles that met our budget perfectly and will surely delight our departing boss. I ended up picking up another bottle as a housewarming gift for a friend + one for me that she had open and let me taste. Who knew New Zealand sauvignon blanc could be transformative? There was a wine tasting event, so the atmosphere was hopping. A must visit venue for all of your wine needs. read more

I wanted the Moonstone Sake Plum but can't find it at BevMo! Googled it and they said that Artisan Wine Depot had it for only $8.99! Usually it retails for $12 so it was cool that they had it for cheaper. They only had 2 bottles in stock, so I swooped up both of them. Wine tasting was happening when we got here -- didn't have time to try it out, but possibly next time. I like this bottle shop a lot. They're friendly and knowledgeable. It's great for someone like me, who doesn't really drink a lot of beer or wine. Not sure on their prices. Since it's in Los Altos, I just assume it's a little pricey...but that's okay. They're great. read more

One of the best customer service experiences I've ever had! I wanted to order a nice bottle of wine for our CEO and have it delivered to his home the same day. Not only did Connor assist me in selecting a perfect Bordeaux, he sent me pictures of the bag options and included the personal note I wanted to go with it. I got a text when it left the store and another once it was delivered. Absolutely terrific service! I live in San Ramon, but I know I will pay them a visit next time I am in the area. read more

This this is another little wine shop in Mountain View. They have a decent selection from all over, from French Wine to your standard domestics. Prices are competitive to other wine shops, but selection is limited, although good for a store of this size. That said, it is fairly cramped with pretty poor signage. I don't have claustrophobia, but this place does make me feel like I almost do. At times, it almost feels like Artisan Wine Depot is trying to compete with the bigger stores like Bevmo, K&L or Beltramo's in terms of variety, but can't do it in a adequate fashion due to much more limited space. I personally prefer Beltramo's or K&L down the highway due to their better organization and more open feel. That said, people here are friendly, so Customer Service isn't really lacking. They may want to rent a warehouse or some storage space somewhere, as that would allow them to offer an increased selection and allow them to greatly improve their organization. read more

Great wine tastings to get Educated and try different varietals that you might like. Always bring a good mix between high end and high value wines. Their inventory is Very good, but most of all come there for their expertise and wine selection, especially when I want to try something different or getting a gift for a friend from a variety that I am unfamiliar with . Guess I could go to Costco and grab some $50. wine, but not sure if that is any good (no one there to provide any guidance or alternative selection), and with Artisan know that they could provide a better wine recommendation at the same price. Recently bought a few bottles of French white and red and they where all hits. They seem always to be looking to provide best value for the price you are seeking , and as such I buy almost all of my wines from Artisan now. read more
