Wow, I haven't been over here in so long, but I was picking up a particular set of beers for my friend and I decided to walk around and see what else they had when I discovered they had this delicious beer I had over the summer at Gordon Birch in San Jose Japantown! I was highly impressed with their eclectic varieties of cider, as well as these fruit cider beers and a number of different organic liquors, as well as wine and mixers!! Originally, I could not find the beer my friend was able to see on their website that was somehow in the store, but it was not in the refrigerator instead it was on the endcap. He didn't need them cold so it was perfect!! One of the employees found it with ease!! The store was very big and very well organized! I was quickly able to walk down the full aisle of cider beers as well as another part that was import beers and specialty. I guess Amber beers or maybe seasonal beers! There seem to be something for everybody here!! Plus, there was a really close parking spot at the angle of the door, so it was easy for me to get in and out! I will definitely be back for these fruit beers!! read more

There is a good variety of beer, wine and liquor here. The 5 cent sale on wine is a great deal. They have branched out to a lot of non liquor items. I'm not sure if that is good or bad. But, as an impulse buyer, I do take advantage of the variety of goods that they are selling. read more

Big praise to the two employees working Jan 7, Thursday afternoon! I got harassed on the street by a random guy and went in there because I was scared. Two employees noticed I was scoping out the street from inside and asked me if I was okay. One of them offered to walk me to the street when I felt safe enough again, which I accepted. Her presence and the small talk we shared calmed and grounded me! The care both of the employees showed me is very much appreciated. read more

Rude, unhelpful staff. I went to the Sunnyvale location to buy a bottle of Merlot for a colleague who was retiring. Not having been there before, I asked an employee - who was busy chatting - where the Merlots were. A casual wave of the hand and "They're over there with all the other wines". I asked if he could show me. With a loud sigh and a shake of the head he stalked off to the wine section, gestured at some shelving and then walked back to his friend without a word. I walked out without buying anything and I will NEVER be back. Look at all the 1 star reviews this place gets and judge for yourself. It's just a liquor store. If you are looking for no service and NO answers to your questions, then this the store for you. Ordered on line and was told that would be notified when my order was ready for pickup. Three days later went to my site and my order had disappeared. Called the Sunnyvale store and asked for the status of my order since was never notified when to pickup time. Could not get an answer to my question but only "call back in the future since we are very busy now". Never again. read more

It's always a ghost town when I come to BevMo, and this time was no exception. I've never compared their prices to Total Wine, but they have always had a good selection and reasonable prices in my opinion. There was just one guy that I could see working in the whole store, but he was super friendly and helpful, and made sure I found everything I needed before I left. They have all the alcohol you'd expect as well as a great array of soft drinks and mixers to choose from too. read more

This was the 3rd location I drove to because it said they had a specific drink in stock. The cashier nearest to the door just stared at me while I was walking in. I walked around the store to find what I was looking for, but they didn't have it on the shelf. (The store app said they had 5 in stock.) I approached the two cashiers who were talking about their schedule. The lady that didn't greet me was complaining how she wasn't given the schedule she wanted. She went on for a whole 5 min while I was standing there. The other cashier she was talking to saw me and didn't acknowledge me as well. They eventually acknowledged me after a whole 5 min of standing there, having to listen to them have a conversation. I showed her a picture and asked if they had it. Without even looking at the picture, she goes "no, that's all we have" At other locations, they help you look for it in the back. AFTER DRIVING TO 3 LOCATIONS, I WAS SO DONE. read more

ID theft alert: BevMo has a new policy by which they scan everybody's driver's license as a condition to sell you anything, even if it is not alcohol. Stores like BevMo are not heavily regulated like financial institutions are and therefore have no incentive to invest the hundred + million dollars to safeguard that information. If they get hacked, or if an employee who is about to quit gets a copy of people's driver's license numbers, date of birth, address, that's enough information to commit identity theft. People can get credit cards under your name, rent a car and never return it, etc and you end up with the burden of proving that you're a victim of ID theft. It is extremely disrespectful towards customers to collect that info because BevMo is not in a position to protect it adequately. So I am now going to Total Wine, much better selection and I've always found qualified staff to assist me when needed. If we boycott BevMo due to their disrespectful and irresponsible practice, they may revisit it (or go bankrupt!). read more

I pretty much love all the BevMo's. They have so much selection that you often feel like you're going to lose your mind. This location has a bit of unused space which is kinda weird. I mean there is actually a lot of unused empty space! Like you could walk for 30 seconds and not bump into anything. Pretty strange for a BevMo, so fill that space up! Still, they have such a huge selection of alcohol that you could spend the entire day here thinking about what you might want to try. Service was friendly when we asked for gift packages, which they had none of. Overall, a pretty good BevMo location, albeit with a lot of empty space. read more

Since they were having the 5cent sale, I decided to come in stock up on some vino. It's a huge store and well stocked. Great selection of wines and spirits. They also carry some deli items. Some of the staff are too busy to smile or help since they rather be restocking. Perhaps they left their personalities at home. Who knows... The guy at the check out was nice but no common sense at all. He took the 12 bottles I bought and put them in one box. As if I'm some huge guy that could carry it to my car. Even he couldn't lift it as he used all his energy just to push the box toward me. Me being me, stopped everything and went to get more boxes so I can spread them out for easier transfer. ( I did apologize to the folks in the line behind me) Will I be back? Only when they have the 5cents sale and if my hubby is with me. Every time I come here, I always find what I need. Employees have been super helpful. Recently, they pointed out the newest 21st amendment brews they just got in stock. Plus, Hell or High Watermelon now comes in a 12 pack! Yay!!!! I never see this location packed. As a result, lines can get long if there's only 1 or 2 cashiers open. Parking lot is super big so you never have to worry about that. Central location right off El Camino and Bernardo-close to 85 off ramp. read more

The worst customer service by the guy at the checkout counter, the elderly asian gentleman. He wants to scan my drivers id even when buying non alcoholic beer. When I ask him do you still need my id for non alcoholic beer, he insists it has alcohol. It wa not about needing the id anymore, but him trying to forcibly get me to agree that the bud zero alcohol beer does have some alcohol. And then when I said no it doesn't he gets all mad and pulls the beer away and almost shouts do you want to buy are not. I should have said no and walked out. I didn't but I am not going there any more. BevMo just lost a customer. read more

I love this BevMo - they have an awesome selection and their staff is super knowledgable. I always come here when I'm looking for a brew that I have tried at a local beer garden, and more times than not they have it! They also have tasting events on Saturdays! Watch out for the low iq cashier. We came in on a Sunday afternoon and left some wine at the cashier to go grab something else really quick. He puts the wine on the table behind him. I come back not even 2 minutes later and he doesn't recognize us, so I tell him we left some wine here a second ago. They have a large assortment of alcohols, which is great. The staff is very friendly and knowledgeable about all the alcohols. I had some questions about some bourbons and absinthe, and they were able to answer everything. I found everything I needed here at very affordable prices. read more

BevMo is a great spot to pick up hard liquor, wine, champagne, mixers, beer (tons of beer), kegs, soda, and a few snack items (chips, cheese, etc.). I have not had one bad experience in all the years I have visited this BevMo location. The staff members are extremely friendly and ready to help you find any item. FYI - If you are looking for soda do the following: walk in the store, make your way to your right towards the wine, pass through the wine section until you reach the soda. Finally decided to move beyond beer at the grocery store and expand my palate a little, but I have a very specific taste for stout beer but don't know much about it. First time ever to BevMo and I was overwhelmed. I asked a worker for help and she said "Let me get Mike...he knows a lot more about those stout beers". Mike came out from his break in the back room and totally educated me on the history, way it's made, and what to expect the taste to be. He was right! Mike's advice was so helpful. Without his help, I wouldn't have the knowledge to branch out to other beers I might like. Looking forward to trying that Russian stout beer on a special occasion. read more

Gotta love the $0.05 wine sale! What's even better? The wine/drink tasting in the middle of the store! What's the point of buying two bottles of whack wine when you can taste it before hand? SWEEETTTTT!!!! Prior to this last trip, I was able to try some pear beer. "PEAR BEER, Papa Smurf?!?!? YUP! I ended up buying 2 bottles.. (I know they're in there going "BAM! Got you, Sucka!") If you're trying to venture off into another drink territory that isn't your own (mine's tequila, I was looking up vodka), the employees are real nice to give you a quick tutorial and recommendations on what's best. I think this one may be smaller then the other ones, but the people are nice here too. DRINK UP! read more

I really enjoy shopping here after the store in Mountain View moved to a much smaller location in Los Altos, which makes me claustrophobic compared to the old store. Ducked in here to pick up some specialty beer to go with my famous chili. Much larger selection of wines and beer at this location. Upon check out I was asked if I found everything I was looking for, when I asked if they stocked a certain beer I was looking for the very nice lady at the cash register went back to the computer and looked it up. Apparently it was seasonal as they had not stocked it since April. That was so very nice of her to let me know. Great shopping experience and being a BevMo discount card member really adds up to great savings! Highly recommended and will return again! read more

Imagine a poor, discouraged Pennsylvanian fellow arriving to a Californian BevMo store for the very first time. If you're not familiar with alcohol laws in PA - you pretty much can't buy it anywhere. No beer/booze at a gas station, supermarket, Target. Only at a few selected liquor stores that are nowhere to be seen. Having spent too much time in PA myself I was that guy. The minute I walked into the store I felt like a child in a candy shop. So. Much. Booze. I probably haven't seen that much alcohol in one single place all of my life. And everything is so affordable. A 2 liter Russki Standard bottle for $20?! This is paradise. Vodka no bueno? Drown yourself in all sorts of Whiskey, Gin, Wine, Beer... and what else you'll find. This is yours to enjoy, responsibly. My husband's cousin called at 8:55pm and informed the employee, NATHAN, that he would arrive by 8:58 because he was sitting at the light 1/2 block by their store. They were still on the phone when he walked up to the door. Once he arrived, Nathan let him into the store and then immediately told him that he had to leave. He became very unprofessional and VERY RUDE. It was a very awkward situation for our cousin. Also, if he were the owner, I'm sure he wouldn't pass up a customer spending $119 on 1942 Don Julio. The coolest thing about this Bevmo is that it is located in a plaza that is actually CALLED "Bevmo Plaza". It used to be Good Guys plaza, but screw that, beer is better than electronics anyway (well, not Macs, but that's another story). My friend and I were greeted immediately upon entering, which has never happened to me at a Bevmo. I didn't even know where the voice was coming from, so I was a little startled. Then I ran to look for my beloved Celebrator, only to find it wasn't on the shelf. A salesperson asked what I was looking for, then corrected my pronunciation of "Celebrator" (he said it like "Cel-a-BRA-torr", and I just say "Celebrator !" which is what I become when I drink it: a celebrator !). He said they, like everyone else in the freaking county, were out of it, but offered the Paulaner Dopplebock instead. Meehhh. That's not what I wanted. I protested, but he didn't offer to call another store or anything. He just shrugged his shoulders and walked away. Repeat after me: Customer. Service. We've all had to do it, right? I have a firm belief that every person in the US should be required to perform customer service-type work for a certain period of time (like how young men HAVE to join the Israeli army), or completely at random throughout their lives (like jury duty). It would just make the whole shopping experience better for the retailers and the consumers. Anyway, what I did find here was a fraise lambic by St Louis which I hadn't seen before, and a British ale called Melbourne Bros Strawberry Ale, which is a traditional British pale with strawberry juice added and fermented in the bottle (I think). It's different from a traditional lambic in that the fruit flavour is not a vital part of the beer production itself, and that it lacks the bacteria necessary to be a true lambic, but I can totally disregard that. The British are fantastically rabid about fruit beers, and Melbourn Bros is a good, refreshing, tangy-sweet girlie beer at it's finest. The next time you're here, grab one of the Melbourn Strawberry or Apricot beers for your girlfriend so she'll stop drinking those Smirnoff Ice things. OH! But the thing I loved about this place: as I was making my purchase and getting ID'd (sometimes it freaks me out when they don't ID me, there is no way I look any older than 25... right??), the clerk made the sweetest comment ever. I've been using my passport as ID because my license broke in two (don't ask), and in my passport photo I'm wearing glasses and a meaner smirk than usual. The clerk looked at it, looked at me, and smiled, saying "This doesn't do you justice". British beer and getting hit on? I love Bevmo. read more

I was at work tonight listening to a Coworkers tale of Woe then she mentioned Wine. That reminded me of my quest to find a good Sangria. That's how I ended up at Bevmo . This Store is Huge . They have a big selection of Cognac and Scotch which I like. I ended up with Cruz Garcia Real Sangria 3 Liter Box Of Wine .I'm enjoying a glass right now . Its quite tasty. read more

A notch above your standard chain liquor store due to the friendly and attentive staff. They have just about everything, and then some selections for snacks to go with your booze (hey-hey!) and glassware to serve it in. Not the best prices, not the worst.Plenty of parking and plenty of selection. I went looking for St.Germain and actually got a cheaper knock-off that I didn't even know existed. When I was leaving an insane irate woman came in, complaining that some liquor bottles broke in the back of her car in the box they issued it to her in. I couldn't help but laugh as she was demanding the manager pay to have her seats cleaned. It made me feel awful for the nice manager who had helped me a little earlier; he was, of course, polite and professional with her. read more

There are two thoughts that ran through my head when I saw the BevMo banner go up on the old Good Guys site: 1. Awesome, I have a BevMo that is walking distance from my house. My life will never be the same. 2. Great, I have a BevMo walking distance from my house. My liver will never be the same. This BevMo is nice and it saves me the trouble of having to go to the one on San Antonio. The wine selection is not quite as strong as other BevMo outlets, but the beer selection (especially Belgian) is quite strong. This BevMo doesn't necessarily stand out in any way -- it's a good old solid BevMo that can meet all of your needs for adult beverages. read more

Great selection. Some beers can only be found here. Personally, I love their Red Trolley and Belching Beaver peanut butter ale. These two can't be found anywhere else. They're always in stock too. Also, Sean always provides top, exemplary customer service. He is patient and delivers great advice on drinks and cocktails recepies. This location is my favorite one ever. read more

The staff here is so friendly! I called ahead to hold a bottle of Clase Azul and the girl on the phone not only located a few bottles, she checked to see if it was on sale for me. Sweet! When I walked in, I was greeted by not one but two associates and helped out with a few wine selections which turned out to be fantastic. I also got super helpful recommendations on other tequilas from the manager when I had questions about gifting other types of tequilas and they even did a little round table discussion about it. I love it when people give intelligent opinions on something they're passionate about. It helps make a $90 purchase easier on the mind when a group of drinkers make a unanimous decision. They even offered me help out to my car for the three bottles. I thought they were joking for a second but I guess it's just habit for them at this point. I thanked them and said I was all set, but guessed they'd just wanted to follow me home to help me sample my new bottles. read more

Aw why the low rating? I came here to pick up a wine opener (I had a cheap one until now and could not open a bottle to save my life... I actually had to throw the last bottle I bought out because I messed up the cork so bad! Good thing I'm poor and only buy cheap wine, haha). Anyway, every single staff member who saw me asked if I needed help, and one of them walked me through all the different types. Went with the Oster electric opener as suggested and it is a definite game changer. Just opened a bottle of pinot in about 3 seconds and am happily sipping away as we speak. They also have a treemeneddouss selection of wines and more, but obviously that's expected. I was able to get everything I needed in one stop -- wine, wine glasses, and wine opener. But really, I'm giving 5 stars for their amazing staff. Super helpful and polite. read more

I so miss living by this new Bevmo that opened up in Sunnyvale. It's like an ultimate supermarket for alcoholics, hahahaha Great wine selection and I found all the things I need to make my mango mojitos, which I have perfected! They even have a nice selection of cheese , caviar and gourmet snacks! I found St. Andres brie there, and you find it at stores like Trader Joes, Whole Foods and Andronicos. Well anyway, it's one of my favorite brie's, and I was totally surprised they had fine cheeses there :-) read more

This is a pretty good place to get your liquid needs. I do have some minor gripes however... minor!! 1) lack of consistent layout.... whenever I go into this place... I always get lost!!! granted that the stores all seem to be in re-used or re-purposed areas, I'm not exactly sure how this can be done... its still annoying to have to re-orient every time I walk into these places. 2) I tried to do a special order here a couple months ago. I explained the situation to the guy, we talked for about 5-10 minutes on the situation... it was something that I used to be able to find, but hadn't been able to for the past couple of years... and could he find out ... and give me a call back.... I got nothing back from them. It's bevmo... glad there is one near, and I don't even buy that much! read more

Twice I've had the absolute worst customer experiences at this BevMo location. Don't dare coming into the store within 15 minutes of closing regardless of only quickly grabbing two items. There is a woman who works weekday evenings who makes it a point to be condescending with any questions as to where items have been moved to (they are remodeling) so everything is moved around. Both times I've checked out exactly at the closing time posted online which apparently is extremely upsetting to her. I'm not sure how this lady is able to keep her job in customer service as this location is notorious for the "rude BevMo lady". Be warned and don't let people like her ruin your day, just go to another store down the street. read more
