In these times of social distancing and having several points against myself for being at risk for virus complications, I tried the online order and pickup your order at the front of the store now offered by BevMo. When I got there, no other customers were at the store, but the attendant, who wasn't anywhere to be seen, ordered me back to a red line. I still had to approach him and cross the red line to put my drivers license on a makeshift counter, and then, he had me pull down my mask so he could compare my face with the face on my drivers license. He himself had no mask or gloves on, like you would see at a market for someone performing a similar activity. The order was promptly and accurately filled, hence two stars instead of one, but I'll find somewhere else to get my pandemic alcohol. read more

This is, I guess, our local BevMo. Closest to our home. They have the usual huge selection, and are a fairly large location, though not the largest. I always sort of dream of bringing foreign visitors here. Or just some folks from a state with more restrictive liquor laws. It would blow their mind. Prices are okay ( usually in line with or a little higher than those at specialty shops ), and can be very good when they have sales. They have a huge selection of mid-level items, but do not carry a wide variety of really high end stuff in most categories. They have a particularly well-curated beer selection at this location ( recent complaints about putting beers in the sunlight by the windows are hardly limited to this store - and they have changed things around so that most of the stuff stored there is not prone to being light-struck ). We like coming to their beer tasting ( Friday after work ) and also their wine tasting ( Saturday lunchtimes ) - they do a much better job with these than some locations, having regular staff members who know their stuff hosting both of them, and usually providing some snacks to go with the tastes. The wine tasting is very friendly and laid back - no wine snobs here, and you tend to meet people who know their stuff at the beer tasting - local homebrewers and German beer enthusiasts. These are great chances to try some things you might not otherwise get to try, and to talk about the drinks with someone who knows a little bit about them. It's $1 for the beer tasting and $2 for the wine tastings ( BYO glass for the wine tasting unless you want to taste out of a little plastic cup ). Service has always been friendly, and if you get the expert, you can learn a lot. Management has been very responsive to complaints when we've had them. It's our go-to liquor warehouse. read more

Probably one of the best BEVMOs I've been so far. What a clean and nice store. They are never out of some product, they always have whatever you want and, if they don't, they wil tell you to try something similar. The stuff are amazing, they are always ready to help you... they are friendly, attentive and also they are always ready to help you!! and it doesnt matter if you dont know anything about drinks, they will help you and make sure you leave the store happily. This is a solid BevMo location. I've stopped by to browse and also to pick up an online order and haven't had a bad experience. They carry a good amount of specialty craft beers, so I always check out that section. Their whisky/bourbon/scotch section isn't lacking either. There isn't usually a line when I go, but it moves quickly if there is one. The only negative is that the parking spots are quite small, as is the parking lot, so it can get quite squishy if the store is busy. read more

BevMo's getting a little too big for its britches with respect to some prices, but this store is more about convenience than anything else. I buy only beer and their American craft selection is excellent; although, the German selection I would say is just barely average and could be alot better. (Finally, they carry Einstock Icelandic beer.) The staff is always helpful, with some far more knowledgeable than others. read more

NO PRICES!! That means it's FREE, right? Since there were plenty of clips but not a single price tag for the entire wine section, I asked the hefty sales guy hiding by the back cases. He complained that he didn't know, didn't have a price gun, and then complained about having to walk across the store to find out the prices. If you like to be greeted by a fat guy with a laziness complex, who can barely croak out "Uh, the pri-ice??" then by all means shop here. If you expect Expertise, this isn't the place. If you expect Helpfulness, think again. If you believe in a Customer Service, ask yourself why this guy comes to work at all if it's just too much effort to put prices on the shelves, or god-forbid, walk across the store in the interest of providing quality customer service. Thumbs down. Go to K&L instead. This place is the pits. read more

I'm a long-time customer of BevMo, but I noticed lately that their prices seem a little high. So I comparison shopped a couple of items -- a bottle of New Zealand sauvignon blanc and a 4 pack of GUS soda -- with Whole Foods (Yes! Whole Foods, aka, Whole Paycheck) In both cases, WF was cheaper. The GUS soda was $5.50 at WF, $6.99 at BevMo. The wine at BevMo was $17 retail, $15 with the BevMo discount card; it was $14 at WF. I really like BevMo, but I'm going to do some more research. I'll be disappointed if I find out they are routinely ripping me off. read more

READ THIS BEFORE SHOPPING HERE I couldn't make up how bad the service here is. Came in late on sunday night about ten minutes before closing, so we tried to be quick, but the cashier was clearly annoyed even though we were ready to pay well before 7pm. When I went to pay, the tall ogre looking cashier asked for ID then literally threw my ID ON THE FLOOR lol! This place is awesome. I can buy everything from my hard alcohol to wine to beer to soda to water to juice, etc. Whoever came up with an idea of a store full of beverages is a genuis cause America loves beverages. Anyhow, I came to this location to pick up some wine for a wine party and it was my first time at a BevMo! ever. This in regards to returning. Back story - I bought 22 bottle of champagne for my wedding and the restaurant didn't chill them so we didn't serve them. I'll keep a few bottles but having 22 bottles of champagne is a little excessive for me. I know Costco doesn't allow returns for wine so I called to ask about the return policy and they said unopened and with receipt is fine. AWESOME!!. so I thought. It was one of those cold morning and then by lunch it was warm. I had packed them in the car in the morning and went during lunch to return them. The bottles were a little damp when I got to the store and they were giving me soo much grief over it. If I knew it was going to be such a pain to return I wouldn't have wasted my time and just had a mimosa party. Not going back to this branch ever again!! read more

Great selection of beer and spirits. No issues there. Wine is another thing. I have a major problem with Bevmo and their dodgy advertising of some of their wines. First, they employ Wilfred Wong - the Leonard Maltin of wine experts - to help plug many mediocre wines. If Parker, Suckling, Tanzer, Wine Enthusiast or Wine Spectator haven't said something good about a wine - and it seems the majority of the store falls under this category - then it will have the Wilfred Wong stamp of approval on it instead. Second, when Bevmo does mention good reviews from known critics/publications, you need to check that the wine's vintage mentioned in the blurb corresponds with the one on the shelf. Case in point - I was at an event where a friend brought a 2009 Allegrini Palazzo Della Torre, noting it had been bought from Bevmo where it was touted as a Wine Spectator top wine of the year. Uh, it was the 2008, not the 2009, that made the Spec's Top 100 list. And indeed, having tasted the 2008, the 2009 wasn't near the same quality. Third, markups on wine are higher than other spots. The frequent 5-cent sales they run may look like a great deal, but consider the everyday prices that subsidize these "sales". Thanks, but for wine (or spirits, for that matter) I'll make the trip to Wine Club or K&L where you get honest advertising, fair value at various price points, excellent customer service and superior selection. read more

Good selection but they didn't have my rodenbach grand cru. To be fair this particular bevmo had more sour beers than the ones I have been to previously. Staff were quick to help you find things and there's lots of options in the fridge so you don't have to wait a few hours for a cold beer. Husband was happy with his alagash and I got my monk something or other sour beer. Yay. They do wine and beer tasting here. Lots of parking as it's in a shopping center. read more

This Bevmo seems to have everything that I usually look for. Since I steer more towards beer, the section seemed smaller than what I've seen elsewhere. In particular, the amount of 40 ounce domestic craft beer bottles was somewhat less in variety. That also did affect the amount of refrigerated chilled bottles too. I did manage to buy a 32 ounce Sierra Nevada Seasonal Brown Ale and a Stone Brewing Company Vertical Epic 10/10/10. I think this Bevmo still has some growth issues to work out but I think they'll come around eventually. read more

The employees here are pretty helpful, their stock is a little limited for higher end wines (typically only carrying a bottle of Joseph Phelps at a time). If you want quantities or a larger selection I'd recommend going to a larger store as this one seems to only carry the basics. Bottom line, good for when you've ran out of something and need to restock or just for some low to mid-level wines. read more

I like BevMo in general. I've got the card, I order online sometimes, I take advantage of the internet discounts when they come along, and in general I'm pretty happy that this new one in Sunnyvale is open, having done my share of trips to the San Antonio, Stevens Creek, and even Great Mall locations for particular beers. I'm not really a wine drinker, so I stick to the other two drink groups when I go, and I've also picked up some random glassware... it really is a one-stop shop as far as I'm concerned. I knocked off one star for now, though, because their web ordering is a pain. I really wish their inventory scheme was more obvious with fewer clicks, and that the navigation of their inventory was just a bit more slick than it is. This is being nitpicky, yes, but this is also silicon valley... how about a website ordering setup worthy of the stores behind it! I've not been to a BevMo tasting (of beer, preferably), so that might also put a star back. I'll revisit later. read more

I'm a big fan of Bev Mo esp. when they have the second bottle for 5 cents sale, I'm there. And when ever I'm back home in South Bay, this is the Bev Mo I frequent. They guys/gals here are friendly, helpful but at the same time they do not hover over you so you can shop at your leisure. Since I'm know to go overboard in getting my wines, Bev Mo provides good service by carrying my wines to my SUV like this afternoon. There's always parking at this place, like the lay out of the store & the selections are great. At the moment, I'm savoring the Chardonnay by William Hill Estate which scored 91 pts. by Wilfred Wong. My goal is to one day meet this Wilfred Wong guy, he influenced the way I buy my wine (I'm such a push over, lol) read more

The service here is perfect, in that the employees are attentive when you need it but will generally leave you alone if you look preoccupied. They're knowledgeable, too, and readily admit when they aren't sure. I recommend this BevMo for anyone with questions about wine, too, because at least some of the employees know the differences between regions and can make recommendations based on your taste. Also, ask them about their wine tastings! I don't know how often they hold them, but they're worth dropping in for. All that aside, they of course have a pretty thorough collection of liquors (single-malt scotches abound) and beers (really, I don't find anything lacking), a decent selection of snack foods (including cheeses) and interesting non-alcoholic drinks too. Bonus: they're also open regular business hours on the 4th of July! read more

Every BevMo feels like paradise to anyone who appreciates alcoholic beverages. The have a very good and wide selection. They are slightly more expensive than the supermarkets, even on promotions. But if you need something specific, or you just want a bigger choice, then BevMo is the place to be! PROS: - Wide selection of REAL Belgian beer. And I mean the stuff Belgians would actually drink. - Clearly organised shop. CONS: - A little bit more expensive then elsewhere. The guys here are super nice! I always feel welcomed when I enter this particular BevMo. I came in to get premade Cosmos one time, and the guys were cool. Then, I came back last week for a case of bubbly. I wish I could remember the guy's name, but he said that they could special order ANYTHING that we wanted. I came in on impulse today with my friend because she had wanted. To try some new kinds of beverages. We walked in the door and were not greeted by any of the associates within our distance, or even offered help during our time inside the store within our forty five minute walk. She had decided later on just to get some miniture bottles of alchohol to take home and try. This is were an okay experience went to bad. When we were making the final selections at the mini bottle spinner I noticed the register associate approaching us, only to be sidetracted by a customer who was ready to ring out. We approached the register also, and placed her bottles on the counter. My friend asked if I could grab her a soda and I proceeded to do so. Crisanta at the register asked for my friends ID, and my friend proceeded to make small talk commenting on how she knows she looks young expecting the cashier to be friendly and joke back. This wasn't the case as crisanta gave her a tiny lecture on how she does look young and that she should always have her ID on her. Grabbing the soda for her to pay I was then looked at accusingly and asked to also present my ID. I went out to the car for my wallet and came back in to produce it for her which she then swiped and glared at me as she handed it back over. I have no issue with being asked to produce my ID, but it was the way that this associate went about it that bothered me. She was very rude about the situation, and I feel it could have been handled a lot nicer than it was. Even the man behind us in line looked a bit shocked about what had happened. One of the bigger BevMo stores in the area (at least when compared to the ones in Mt. View and Redwood City.) This one is just about a mile from home and is my go-to for beer and wine. Bottled beer selection is quite good, with a nice variety in the seasonal section. Since I also have a Kegerator, this is my first choice for getting new kegs for it. Although It's usually best to call ahead, I can just drop in and they usually have something I'd want to drink for the next 30 or so days. Staff is helpful and friendly. read more

Well, what's there to say.. It's a BevoMo! and it always has everything I need, drink wise. I don't usually need help finding anything, but it's slow in there and the employees are always around to help. The only cons are that they can't seem to fix my BevMo! rewards card, I've told them 4 times now... and there's always a creepy old drunk there who smells super bad and comes at me like a Zombie or something. read more

In fact, I think Trader Joe's generally has cheaper prices for the comparable wine and beer.
