They have beer! All the big brands, plus several of the 17 cases of craft beers. (see pic). They have soda. Think, all the majors. They have energy drinks. Rows of rows of different energy drinks. Lots of sports drinks. Lots of water. And tea! We love Arizona iced tea, and they have a lot. In this picture, there are several flavors I haven't seen anywhere else. Believe me, I've looked since I discovered them and haven't found them in grocery stores or gas stations or walgreens or anywhere! So now I drive here when I have a crave. It's right next store to La Costena, my fav burrito shop. A couple other cool restos in this strip mall too. New owners a couple years ago keep this place friendly, clean, and well lit. They really take pride in their huge selection.

Since I don't spread negative or try not to, I won't get into the details. However, I will warn people who enter this store to be prepared that you might encounter some extremely rude and disrespectful encounters with staff. The person who started yelling at me had zero basis for it. I was pretty shaken after the incident. I've been in other Bobs Discount Liquors and have been treated kindly and respectfully. Something I highly believe both parties in any interaction should always be doing. This particular store I recommend avoiding. There are some issues with respecting people that are not good. My recommendation is to visit a different location. Bobs Liquors is a great store. Just not this location. Sad to leave a review like this as I always look for every reason to leave a good review. This time the only thing I know to do is to warn people to be aware if you decide to walk in.

After striking out at a new place yesterday and…read moremissing out on a Stagg Jr. at a regular place the day before, and finding myself in PA on other business, with some time to spare before going home, I hit the Yelps for a bottle shop. Palo Alto Fine Wine & Spirits on Middlefield popped up, well reviewed. I like that part of town, so I off I went. Arriving at the location the curb appeal was PA all day. Walking through the front door it was apparent that they are at the top of their game. Strolling toward a floor-to-ceiling wall of whiskey I had high hopes. Oh, to put that in perspective, their ceilings are probably 24-ish feet high. So would we need a ladder, a clever picking device or some Cirque du Soleil types, to retrieve a top-shelf selection on this particular day? Nope. It was a lot of whiskey, some if it was fine, I even like a lot of it, but for what it was it was mostly unremarkable. Scanning the rest of the store, wine seems to be their thing. I didn't shop for any, but I have a hunch there are many good ones to be had. Lately I have had a policy of buying something from every shop I set foot in. We need to take care of one another right now, all the time really, but I wasn't just going to cram a bottle of something into my last spot. So I went to Plan-B. Any good beer? Oh yes indeed. While their selection looked sparse, seriously their chillers were mostly empty shelves, there was some great stuff available. I wouldn't call myself a beer expert. I'm kind of all over the place and up for anything, but I do like stouts and sours. I ended up with two of each. They were all local-ish selections. Two from Alvarado Street in Salinas, one from Sac and another from San Carlos. Buy local when you can. Your neighbors need you more than Bezos right now. As I write this review I am sipping on Motor Oil No. 9 from Alvarado Street Brewery in Salinas, CA. It's my first time trying it, I wasn't sure if it would work out or not, but the idea of a stout with something fruity added was intriguing. So how would I describe it? It's like somebody dumped some of their Pineapple Jarritos into a pint of Guinness, then put some heavy cream in there. In other words, awesome. Don't knock it 'till you try it. If I find it again I'll buy it. Palo Alto Fine Wine & Spirits has a lot to offer.
