Not a single can or case of Espresso Martini was left out. I asked a couple of employees for help..and Ross stepped in to assist. He scanned the barcode..confirmed the item was in stock..and spotted the cases up high. Without hesitation..he grabbed a ladder and climbed up to get me exactly what I wanted. Ross's helpful attitude from start to finish was outstanding. He went above and beyond to make sure I left happy. I was having a rough day and really wanted that Espresso Martini to unwind after work..thanks to him..I didn't have to settle for another flavor. Great store and excellent service. Highly recommend!

Palo Alto Fine Wine & Spirits on Middlefield popped up, well reviewed. I like that part of town, so I off I went. Arriving at the location the curb appeal was PA all day. Walking through the front door it was apparent that they are at the top of their game. Strolling toward a floor-to-ceiling wall of whiskey I had high hopes. Oh, to put that in perspective, their ceilings are probably 24-ish feet high. So would we need a ladder, a clever picking device or some Cirque du Soleil types, to retrieve a top-shelf selection on this particular day? Nope. It was a lot of whiskey, some if it was fine, I even like a lot of it, but for what it was it was mostly unremarkable. Scanning the rest of the store, wine seems to be their thing. I didn't shop for any, but I have a hunch there are many good ones to be had. Lately I have had a policy of buying something from every shop I set foot in. We need to take care of one another right now, all the time really, but I wasn't just going to cram a bottle of something into my last spot. So I went to Plan-B. Any good beer? Oh yes indeed. While their selection looked sparse, seriously their chillers were mostly empty shelves, there was some great stuff available. I wouldn't call myself a beer expert. I'm kind of all over the place and up for anything, but I do like stouts and sours. I ended up with two of each. They were all local-ish selections. Two from Alvarado Street in Salinas, one from Sac and another from San Carlos. Buy local when you can. Your neighbors need you more than Bezos right now. As I write this review I am sipping on Motor Oil No. 9 from Alvarado Street Brewery in Salinas, CA. It's my first time trying it, I wasn't sure if it would work out or not, but the idea of a stout with something fruity added was intriguing. So how would I describe it? It's like somebody dumped some of their Pineapple Jarritos into a pint of Guinness, then put some heavy cream in there. In other words, awesome. Don't knock it 'till you try it. If I find it again I'll buy it. Palo Alto Fine Wine & Spirits has a lot to offer.

The service was standoffish, although I did like that this location had picnic benches outside to eat at and a nice sized parking lot. All in all at the end of the day it's between a 3 to 3.4 to me and we likely won't be back.

I was highly impressed with their eclectic varieties of cider, as well as these fruit cider beers and a number of different organic liquors, as well as wine and mixers!! Originally, I could not find the beer my friend was able to see on their website that was somehow in the store, but it was not in the refrigerator instead it was on the endcap. He didn't need them cold so it was perfect!! One of the employees found it with ease!! The store was very big and very well organized! I was quickly able to walk down the full aisle of cider beers as well as another part that was import beers and specialty. I guess Amber beers or maybe seasonal beers! There seem to be something for everybody here!! Plus, there was a really close parking spot at the angle of the door, so it was easy for me to get in and out! I was offered help and directed to chat with Aaron in the Mariners cap. I showed him a photo of my wife's favorite wine and said, "She loves this, but isn't a big wine drinker, so I'm looking for something she'll like that isn't $40 a bottle." He turned and walked straight over to a particular bottle and handed it to me. "Very similar, even has some of the same words on the label, and is only $20." I see from the label that it's specifically imported by them. Then I picked out a bottle of southern Italian red that got great reviews on Vivino. At checkout, Aaron kind of pulled it away from me and shook his head. Then he went and picked out a Sicilian one. I haven't tried either yet, but I really like this kind of service. This is what I need to refine what I like most. I expect to come back here with an update.

Seriously? The global wine market is collapsing, but K&L won't condescend to provide basic customer service. I'm happy to take my business elsewhere.

But I've always known TWM has way better selection. Walking in, honestly, the sheer variety kind of overwhelmed me at first. That said, the aisles were laid out really well, so once I got my bearings it was easy to browse around by type. That's about when Justin, the floor/wine manager, came over and asked if I needed a hand. He ended up walking me through a bunch of different spirits, taking the time to actually explain things rather than just pointing at bottles. What I appreciated most was that he wasn't pushy at all - no upselling, just genuinely helpful recommendations. That's honestly what got me to trust his suggestions, and I walked out with more than I planned on buying. Zero regrets, though.
