We have been wine club members for about a year and we really enjoy the offerings at Wine Outlet. Instead of having only one winery's wine, we have an assortment. We've taken classes and came out with a wealth of knowledge, stopped by during their specials and picked up ridiculous deals (a case of Napa white wine for $36 - that's $3 a bottle!) and overall just enjoy our visits where we usually get a few tastings too. Although we no longer live in Seattle, we are always happy to stop by for our quarterly wine club pick up! read more

My husband surprised me with a trip to the wine outlet. I thought it was just a retailer, but it's so much more! First, the complimentary wine tasting included a Chardonnay, Sangiovese, Demi-sec and a Port. The Sangiovese was AMAZING! The staff is a certified som and very knowledgeable. She and the owner hold class to increase your wine knowledge. They also curate the wine club, which can be customized for quantity and taste profile. Definitely a place to visit! read more

I signed up for the Mastering the Art of Wine Tasting three-week course (Monday nights from 7 to around 9 pm at the store) and have been loving the experience so far. I also went to the annual April pig roast and tasting/sale, had a great time, and picked up several wines for myself and for friends and family. If you're a wine club member (free to join), you get $50 off the course and $1-3 off wines at the sale. The store is clean, well organized, and super cute, with lamps made from wine bottles. I'll definitely keep coming here even after the course ends read more

This is now my go-to wine shop. In fact, I plan to cancel my two wine clubs and just partake during the tasting sessions at Wine Outlet! The variety of wines at fair prices make this an incredible experience. I always walk away with a few bottles to hold me over until the next event. Enjoy! read more

This is a wonderful spot for recommendations. They have lots of amazing wines for a variety of price ranges. I'm a relatively new member to the wine club and love it so far. It's reasonably priced and the wine is excellent. Also just super friendly staff! I'll be a regular for a while. :) read more

Knowledgable, friendly, great selection and value. If you're more interested in the wine than the "experience", this is the place.

Cute little spot with lots of bargain wines for sale. Wine Outlet had a lot of ones from all over the world. Nice selection from France, Portugal, Spain, Germany and Italy. If your looking for whites, Sparkling or dessert wines you won't be disappointed. I was on a hunt for some big Washington reds and they had a very limited supply. Super friendly staff. Lot's of parking out front. read more

Wine Outlet has been around for years, and when they had their Green Lake store, we used to go there quite often. Fast forward 6 years, while they no longer have the Green Lake location, their original store is better than ever with an interesting selection, fair prices, and wine tasting facilities. What I really like is the fact that they have an interesting selection and wines of good value that you won't find anywhere else (I just tried my first lagrein wine this week from them and it was awesome). At the same time they will also have some Leonetti and higher end wines in stock. Places like the Wine Outlet make me very happy to be back in Seattle! read more

The Wine Outlet is a hidden gem in Seattle. Inside it is warm and comfortable. The wine selection is ever changing and they are always willing to help find a bottle in your budget. I have become a member of their wine club and always look forward to seeing what selection they put together each month. The owner and staff get to know their customers, know what types of wine you prefer and it is a very personalized experience each time I visit. For too long I drove right past it wondering what it was like inside. And after my first visit, I had a new favorite local wine shop and look forward to stopping in. A great place to find unique and delicious wines in any budget with staff that feels like neighbors you have know forever. Seattle fave!! read more

Like 'Half Priced Books' but with wine. Like the Grocery Outlet, sans the stale 'Little Debbie' Like.. if the dollar store sold booze. Yep, like that. Great deals and informative staff. I walked in looking for a 'party' wine, and walked out with a $25 bottle for $15. Dope! read more

I stumbled upon wine outlet over a year ago and never looked back! The prices are great and the selection is eclectic. Best of all, Sylvia always takes great care in helping me select a bottle that best suits my taste, and she remembers me every time. It's that "Cheers" vibe that I appreciate and makes me eager to come back. Thank you Sylvia, I really appreciate you!!! read more

Today, guest writing for Tim O will be Mel R (http://www.yelp.com/user_details?userid=CbwS4MCR9e2zNgZAtzncDg): Hi, I'm Tim O You may know me from such funny, useful and cool reviews as: Little Red Hen: Cowboy House of Horror http://www.yelp.com/biz/the-little-red-hen-seattle#hrid:1WksmayouKjjvYqmEqLdjA Or Ocho: mi estmago estall adelante http://www.yelp.com/biz/ocho-seattle#hrid:6b5KkjEFuOAOFX12E37Q0A So in all my magnificent-make-Mel R-tinkle-from-laughter-glory; I, Tim O, would like to bring, yet another notch in my review belt. The Wine Outlet is a great place to discover new little gems or old favorites at a discounted price. I highly suggest getting on the mailing list for updates on special events like: wine tastings, how to's and garage sales. I attended a said garage sale and walked away with 8 bottles: 3 roses, 1 white, 4 reds (1 French; 2 Chilean; 1 Argentina) all for $57 and some change. I, Tim O, am such a wine connoisseur and bargain shopper; unlike Mel R, who roamed aimlessly about like a lost castrated Pomeranian in a pen full of horny females; my S.O. rewarded me with praises for it too. We drank and made sweet Vino love under the stars. read more

This place is great for the following reasons: 1. It's chock-full of friendly people who actually know a LOT about wine. 2. You can walk in, admittedly know nothing about wine other than the fact you enjoy drinking it a lot and think you had a syrah once that was especially tasty (read: it was on the endcap for $7.99 last March at Trader Joe's. What was it called again? Huh.) 3. Said friendly, knowledgeable staff person will, whilst not judging you or turning up any noses at your complete fumbling lack of wine skills, send you home with a $9 bottle of something which would've cost $15 even at Trader Joe's that they're sure will be great with your (insert random dinner plan here)- and they'll be RIGHT. Mad skills, wine outlet. Mad skills. They also have a wine bar now where you can get some tasty snacks and try some fancy schmancy wines without paying super fancy prices- although I will admit it was kinda weird to also see some $7-10 glasses of wine on the menu when I know I can get the whole bottle for $11 like ten feet away...so I guess I'd stick with the still-exorbitantly-priced-bottle selections at the wine bar to really feel like you're justified sitting there to drink it. Could just be I'm cheap though. read more

It was seven years ago today that the first Wine Outlet in Sodo. It is one year ago today that opened Greenlake Wines + Wine Bar (Elliott Wine Outlet opened 7 years ago last October). Every year, on the anniversary of the SoDo store, they throw a FREE pig roast to celebrate the occasion and to thank his wonderful customers for making it all possible. This year will mark the 7th fete. This is a big deal (last year we had five pigs roasted) with lots of partying and carrying on and wines to buy at very low prices. you should really mark your calendar and plan to attend the party. Come on down and enjoy succulent roast pork and fine wine. I have attended this event every year with my friends. Wine and roast pig..ahh heaven. read more

This place is great - Richard Kinssies was in the store both times I stopped by, and each time I bought excellent reasonably priced wine. The second time was Super Bowl Sunday, and they were offering free bratwurst and a wine tasting. Yup, that's right. Free pork. A couple of times a year they roast a pig. Free pork! According to their website, I just missed this last one. Oh well... next time. Come for the great wine. Stay for the free pork. read more

Andrea was nice enough to stay a little late when I called to get a nice bottle for our 5th wedding anniversary. She explained everything about the wine, and the price was great. Thank you so much. read more

Not your normal wine shop experience here. The proprietor, Richard Kinssies, was a former wine columnist, wine educator, and author. He continues to hold classes at Wine Outlet. You can learn a lot with a casual conversation or just hanging around at his shop. Richard hunts for wine bargains and passes them on to his customers. Consequently you'll find many wines not available on your local grocer's aisles. Quantities are often limited, we stop in on a regular basis to see what's recently come in. He's got a $uper deal on a tasty Barolo not found anywhere else. Many of the wines are available for tasting before you purchase. There's a wine club too, but unlike the others, you aren't stuck with expensive wines from the same winery every quarter. Here you get some distinctively different wines to try, pre notice on super specials and events and a discount on the Monday evening wine classes. read more

Time to be classy with some off-priced wine bottles, instead of the spouted gallon party/sailing wine boxes. Maybe even attain virtue amongst friends by having some food and wines on table at the same time. The demonstrative gesture to let guests pour their own glasses is now available. Surreee! Wine Outlet thrives on getting consumers the best deal around town on domestic and international wine selections. Social drinks and frugal people around Seattle can maintain dignity and be somewhat luxurious on their alcohol splurge(s) with this type of merchant around town. The savings is sooo worth it! read more

And now I have been to the Wine Outlet location on Elliott to the new wine bar. What a fun place - Richard was there and his enthusiasm is infectious. I'll be bck for happy bites and sips! yummmmm. read more

I love wine. I love a bargain. Thus, what isn't there to like about Wine Outlet? How often can you patronize a wine shop where a renowned wine writer, Richard Kinssies in this case, is there willing to spend as much time as you need to find the perfect wine? Richard scourers the earth looking for great values then gives his time away to educate and assist his clients. In addition to all this he has installed a sweet little wine bar, offers wine classes and has the occasional BBQ open house! Just as an FYI, you may have to track him down very soon with his opening of a new wine shop/bar in the Greenlake area in February. read more

Wine should be fun. It does not need to be stuffy or expensive to be great . . . that is exactly why I love the wine outlet. It is stripped down, bare bones with some terrific buys and knowledgeable staff. I grabbed a sparkling shiraz to share at Thanksgiving, that was not only unique, but pretty tasty with the turkey. I decided to take their wine tasting class this Spring. It was well worth the time (3hours), but a little spendy. It seemed that the owner had filled the class with a few friends and employees, so there were just a few of us paying the full price ($125). Richard knows his stuff and makes more complex wines feel approachable. The email newsletter is great for special wine notices and they sponsor a number of tasting events with food - pig roast, salmon - however, I have yet to attend one. Stop by and browse, you can pick up something fun for 10 bucks! read more

Wedding wine! I've been meaning to stop in for a while and I'm glad I did. Richard was helpful and informative. I purchased a Columbia Valley Red to try this evening. We'll definitely be back to do some tastings and purchase wine for our big day. The prices are affordable and each wine is hand selected which is really Eastern Washington-esque and I love that. The atmosphere and the furnishings are unique and inviting. read more

After being totally screwed by Esquin Wine Merchants (see my review!) the Wine Outlet totally saved my fiance and me! Not only were the wines amazing got tons of compliments at our wedding reception prices were great too! We anticipated spending double what we ended up spending at the Wine Outlet and we were thrilled. I highly recommend the Wine Outlet! read more

If you want a great selection of wonderful wines, this is the place to go. Richard is a well of knowledge with interesting, informative stories and a great personality to match. I have never gotten a bad wine from here and the prices are phenomenal! He also holds classes every so often in the upstairs classroom in his store. I just took his food and wine pairing class, and had my mind blown with all the information he provided. I'm pretty sure I filled my entire paper with notes from all his great information. Being a wine club member gives you a lot of perks too! Lots of great discounts on wine and his Seattle wine school classes are $35 for wine club members, compared to the regular $65. If you're a wine lover, you must stop by here! read more

I love the Wine Outlet! Richard knows how to pick his wines, and price them so that I can afford them. As far as I know, there is no other place in Seattle where you can sample a flight of Châteauneuf-du-Pape. A while back, I attended a tasting class of Italian Brunello di Montalcino wines (amazing), and will be going to a sake wine tasting class next week. Classes are only $25! If you love wines and are on a budget, this is the place for you (and me)! read more

I am updating my review and giving wine outlet 3 stars, because I was able to talk to a nice girl who works there, named Kenny (spelling?). She was very sympathetic with the fact that our order had been misplaced. After 20 minutes on the phone, she finally located my account and remedied the situation. However, based on my conversation with the owner, Richard, the day before, I will not be rating this place greater than three stars. read more

Neat Spot. I wrote a review on the Wine Outlet and great deals on wine here - http://bit.ly/bZV2Vr.

Super friendly and helpful. Richard is really great at making suggestions and isn't one of those wine snobs that makes you feel silly for having a limited wine knowledge. The prices are also great and he doesn't point you to the priciest bottle. read more

Interesting wine shop. They do have some fantastic value old world wines, though some of the cheaper bottles have not been up to standard. The staff is very friendly, bit sometimes not quite as knowledgeable as I would like them to be. I have been very pleased with favourites they have picked out, but not so pleased about advice about particular bottles I want their opinion about. read more
