Loved this place! We were in a tea room and had a fantastic waitress. There were 6 of is and we got a ton, literally every roll and app was good/fantastic. I ordered 90 dollars worth of sushi. One roll , the Tonga roll that has shrimp on top and smoked salmon inside, had so much artificial liquke smoke in it that I had to spit it out. They also put two other rolls in one box with the ruined roll so it contaminated the taste of a few pieces from the other rolls. When I called, the owner refused to take responsibility for it and at least reimburse me for the disgusting smoke flavored roll, and said there was not wrong with it, nobody else complained. She added that Injust don't like the smoke flavor. With this she was arrogant and condescending! First, she can't decide for me what I like or don't like and second I am a very good cook and I can make a very competent judgement on the overkill of a artificial smoke flavoring! There was a booger on the table cloth. They got our orders wrong, they used canned tuna for the spicy tuna. The sukiyaki was tough and just not good. It took 30 minutes to get the bill (we counted). I'm not one to leave bad reviews for places but I'm sorry, this was the absolute worst. Only redeeming factor? They have fresh wasabi. Love this place! I still dream about Windy's Chicken Salad and have never found any Asian restaurant with an equivalent. The only salad that's even more delicious as take-out than when dining in. The sushi is the best you'll find in Ogden (but not as good as Ichiban in Salt Lake, mainly because its selections are more limited). I've been here a few times now. but the very first time, I tried going to a trendy sushi restaurant on 25th street, but was so displeased with the selection, and the wait time, so we stopped waiting and came over to Windy's Sukiyaki and fell in love. The place was nice, calm and relaxed. The service was fantastic and fast, everyone was so kind. We had a lovely time. I took my mom here, and we got a private room in the back that time, it was fun and cool and we had great time. It was my mom's first time trying sushi. We had a great time. Love this place. Option to seat in casual or private dining, works for family dining or special occasions. Cons: Sushi rolls aren't as inventive or fresh tasting as Tona sushi on 25th St. However, Windy's still does do good sushi and is MUCH cheaper. There are no outstanding desserts here - head elsewhere for your final course if desired. Parking lot is awkward, but doable. Only open after 5 pm for dinner. read more

I have heard quite a bit about this place from friends, so a group of 8 of us went on a Tuesday night. We had called ahead, and were immediately seated in a private room. You remove your shoes before going into the room, and you sit on the floor which was a fun surprise. I got the Yakisoba combo, the taste and mix between noodles and meat/vegitables was good. But I thought it was a little pricy for how much food I got. The other places I go to usually give you soup or salad to begin your meal, but they charged you extra for each. We also got the Black Widow, Alaskan, and Hulk sushi rolls. The only thing I could compare these rolls to were buffet style rolls, they are better than nothing, but its not like you enjoy it after eating. I have been to most sushi places in Northern Utah, and this was toward the bottom. The black widow had too much going on. All the rolls tasted the same, you couldn't tell the difference from the tuna, and crap rolls. Our service was not great, the waitress was actually kind of rude to us. read more

Can't comment on the atmosphere of the private rooms since we ate in the open dining area. The area felt worn. High chairs were stacked in the entrance of the men's room. A garbage can with supplies for clearing tables was also stacked next to the high chairs. The black walls were filthy, especially by the doors. The soy sauce bottle on the table was sticky. The chairs were uncomfortably close to other tables' chairs. Not an inviting space. Overall, some of the worst sushi I've had recently. Quality or quantity didn't match the high price. I was surprised to find an adequate Japanese-style restaurant in a town like Ogden, which seems to have very few Japanese residents. We ate there for dinner in one of the private rooms. Our view was of a small garden and the floor level table (with a well for our American legs, not used to kneeling). I wouldn't call the ambiance "amazing" but it was more than adequate. I had chicken Yakisoba, which seemed heavy-handed on the shoyu element, but the chicken was light and the vegetable ingredients were cooked just right. My dinner companion (a Californian with discriminating sushi standards) had a sushi assortment which she pronounced more than adequate. Next time I'm in Ogden, I'll give Windy's another try, and order the special salmon dinner. read more

Private Tea Room experience was amazing, but possibly not a great idea for people who are elderly or otherwise mobility impaired. Might also be awkward to get in and out of the seating area if you wear a short skirt or dress. Another tip - no alcohol sold here. We reserved a private tea room for the two of us after our wedding elopement ceremony. It's not truly "private" as you can see across to another tea room and you can hear what's going on in the restaurant, but it was definitely a unique experience. You step up into the tea room and then you sit on the floor in a little chair with no legs (so you have back support) and there is an opening under the table for your legs to dangle (or to reach the floor if you are taller). It was really quite comfortable. If you haven't had the garlic edamame, you haven't lived yet. The gyoza needed some work - they were really large and mostly tasteless - steer clear! We ordered King Crab, which came out perfectly cooked with warm butter. Absolutely delicious. We also ordered a few rolls. Highly recommend the Hulk! If I ever get the opportunity to return to Ogden, I'll be ordering the Hulk without the jalepeno - just a touch too spicy for me. The ice cream was also delicious. read more

This is just an awesome place. Tonight we had; mars and california rolls, their sushi is always good pokee (spelling?) For the first time. It was fantastic! Really good spiciness and great flavors. Fried rice, their rice is also always very good Garlic edamame, amazing My wife had the sukiaki for the first time (vegetable/tofu) and she said it was great. Shes been craving it again all night. I've loved Windys for a while. It's as good as almost any of the best sushi places I've eaten at all over the world. This place, Midori, and Tsunami are the best places I've had sushi in Utah. The only thing I can say bad about Windys is that , strangely, it seems that the food they serve on the non-tea-room side of the restaurant is more hit and miss.
