The 2004 reserve was sooo tasty! The other reserves will get to that in a year or two, I'm sure, but I'm not wino enough to remember when to drink which vintages two years down the line. It was $15 to try the 3 regular and 3 reserve wines, plus you get to keep the riedel glass with their logo in it. I don't think it's a bad deal. It's the really fatty bottomed ones to let the wine breathe! yay! If you don't want the glass, it's $5 off the tasting (so $5 for regular or $10 for the reserve tasting). Not bad. If I hadn't purchased 17 bottles of wine the previous day, I would have easily purchased a bottle of their 2004 reserve. The pourer was a really nice, friendly woman who really knew her stuff. They have a really nice shaded picnic area in front of the tasting room to enjoy your wine/cheese or just the view after your tasting. read more

While sipping and sampling, you can enhance your experience by the wonderful views across the acres of vineyards and vistas. So we loved the concept of this winery... they took their best wine and served every year starting from 2012 and had a 1998. Their wines were really good and it was a great experience trying them in that order. The gal that poured was knowledgeable and even assisted us to find our next wineries to visit. They also had cheese to pair our wines with which is always a big plus! I loved the service and friendly people there. Even on a busy weekend they were very attentive. read more

Well if youre into Pinot you should stop in at Windward .. I am a huge Pinot guy and to be honest didnt like many here . but all palates are different and their take on Pinots are a little different .. so give them a try .. I did end up buying their 2014 .. pretty tasty read more

Since you can't do zero stars on Yelp, the one star is for the cool truck out front. We have just started enjoying "good" Pinot's and decided to try this place since that's what it's sole focus is. What a mistake! This is one of the few Paso wineries where we didn't like the experience at all-- from the man behind that bar who wasn't talkative (or friendly) to the horrid chemical taste of each of the wines. The four of us dumped every taste and at $10 x 2 for 4 little tastes, it was like flushing a $20 bill down the toilet. I swear we were in there for 5 minutes. We just kept hoping that at least one of the four would be drinkable. Unfortunately all four missed the mark. Please, do yourself a favor and avoid this place at all costs. I should have read the other Yelp reviews before going here. If I had, I would have driven right past it. If you want a good Pinot, head further south and towards the coast. Sorry Windward... your ship has sailed and it's time to pack it in. On a high note, YOU MUST go to Ecluse since it is really close. Now that's what real Paso wine tasting should be like. Stopped by during ZinFest weekend. We were here before a few years ago and remember the 03 being great. Well time passes and the 07 is not so good. They only serve Pinots here, nothing else. They charge $10 and only waive if you buy 2 or more bottles (at $38/bottle!) The friend who wanted to come by here loved the 03; but was very disappointed this time around. She left with nothing but bitterness. There were 20 Ferrari's at the time we stopped by. Yes 20! Brand spanking new ones! Can you smell the money?? We've scratched this one off the map and won't be returning... maybe in 5 years or so, we'll see. read more

I had heard they only made Pinots and since I'm a fan of Pinots, I wanted to check this place out. Tasting fee was $10 per person for their vertical flight: 2010-2013 Monopole Pinot Noir. The son who helped us was friendly, but since we were the only ones there tasting, it was a little uncomfortable being so quiet. We did walk out with a bottle of the 2012, but I wasn't overly impressed with the selection. They don't comp any of the tastings either. read more

Had a private and personalized tasting hosted by the owner and winemaker Marc Goldberg hast Sunday. We revisited the 2010 which has matured into a stellar product with all the fruit and minerality that a young Pinot should be showing. Than he dis a barrel tasting of the 2012. Whow Whow Whow never in my life has a wine been so beautiful in such a early age great fruit and showing even a youthful balance and finesse. Marc expressed that he expects his 2012 to be the best he has produced in his 20 years of being the "Wine Sheppard". read more

Those a$$holes charged me $20 to taste 5 wines. YES, $20 for 5 wines. And then I went and bought a $36 bottle from them. I showed them. Hmph. For real though: Yeah this place is stuffy a little, yes i am really upset they charged me so much to taste (oh but I got a really pretty glass to keep), but I thought their wine was phenomenal. Don't go here to get drunk, there are plenty of free tastings in the area, but this is some great pinot. read more

I'll rate them average, since we didn't actually taste there, on the basis that I hope their wine is as good as they're charging. It's $10 to taste 3 pinot noirs (they apparently only make one wine, and so you taste 3 years of the same wine) and that's it. I trust the wine's really good, because at $10/3, it damn well better be. That's up there with the absurdly overpriced Napa locations. read more

This was my favorite winery of our recent trip to Paso and I can't say enough wonderful things about it. The wine was really good, the service was really good, they had art on the walls which made it more beautiful, there was a Lath house in front of the tasting room with gorgeous views. The bathroom here was really nice as well which is always a plus! I can't wait to go back here! The tasting fee is $10 but worth it, and you get to keep your pinot riedel glass! (I broke mine at home so I was super excited about that!). read more

We were about to come here last week, when we pulled into the driveway and immediately recognized the place as somewhere we once came before a couple years ago. It was a heart breaking experience, as Napa has crummy Pinot and more recently crummy Cabernet (Sonoma, still good). As far as Windward, ll the Pinot sucked, it was frustrating. 4 wines (2010, 2009, 2008, and 2008 gold), tiny pours, over priced, and awkward conversation. The 2008 gold was a lot better and didn't have he chemical taste, but at over $60 a bottle, its not worth it. Personally, I wouldn't make this stop again. read more

The owners were very rude and pretentious. They kept talking about how much they love burgundy yet their wine is a poor example of Pinot Noir. Maybe change your attitude and spend more time focusing on your wine. read more

This some good Pinot. Definitely more earthy in style and surprisingly not alcoholic in nature. They poured '05, '06 and '07, both the estate and reserve bottlings. Consistent style from vintage to vintage, with the '05 being complex, perfumed and well integrated and the '07 being young and very fruit forward. The '06 wasn't bad, it just didn't have that extra something. The reserve bottlings were consistently bigger and fruity, but weren't quite as gracefully feminine. Nice finishers as well. No Dijon clones here, so if you like the dark red Santa Barbara Pinots, know what you're getting into here. The Dijon clones are supposedly for cooler climates, and attempting them, even in a cooler part of Paso, is probably ill-advised. These guys clearly know what they're doing and are making very good Pinot. read more

BEST Pinot in Paso! In an area not known for Pinot, this place really stands out. The tasting is really special because you taste different vintages of their Estate Pinot. Not sure of any other winery that offer this. Heather was really knowledgeable on the area and why they are able to grow such good Pinot there. They have a cheese pairing that was only $5 and it was delicious. They are close to town and right off the 46, but it feels secluded and beautiful. We had a glass on their patio after our tasting because we couldn't leave that view right away. read more

My sister in law and I have been to over a 150 wineries in this area. How did we miss this one!!! I know we will keep it on our must revisit map and we can't wait to share our wines with friends and take them to the winery. Stephanie was pouring on Saturday when we came in and was so accommodating. She gave us information on the wines, history of the family and the support they give their community. The wines were so yummy and we tasted all four. That's right I said FOUR. That's all they had and all four were Pinot Noir, which is all they do. We thought this was unusual, but when you do something so well you should perfect it and Windward has done just that. I highly recommend you make this a stop. Remember if your looking for good wine it's about quality not quantity and they have the quality hands down. read more
