I checked out the SanTan WinCo Foods for the first time after hearing they sell the Arizona brand teas for 70 cents. The rumor was true...and they had most of their staple teas and juice cocktail drinks to choose from! Being the first time in a WinCo store, I was impressed by the size of the place and the name-brand selections they carry for some items. The aisles were wide and easy to navigate. What was supposed to be a quick grab and go of beverages turned into 45 minutes of shopping for many items. They have fresh-cut meats and fresh-caught seafood in the back of the store. Their frozen food section was also quite large compared to standard grocery stores. They carry fresh produce as well! On the way out, there was a large sign saying this is an employee-owned company. That's pretty neat I'm not handing my money to a large faceless corporation, but to a consortium of employees. WinCo may become a once a month or once a quarter stop to restock some of our family favorites! read more

After I get gas at Costco, I usually stop in here as it's right across the street. I love that they're open 24 hours and employee owned. This store is huge and always very organized and clean. They really are the supermarket low price leader as their prices are so much lower than their competitors. They post price comparisons all over the store so you can see how much you're saving which is cool and very helpful. You have to bag your own groceries but it's not a big deal to me. My favorite thing about this store is their huge bulk section. They have everything you can imagine. I especially like buying spices here as there's a huge variety and I can buy exactly the amount I need and reduce waste. This store has excellent prices on vegetables and fruits too. I usually use their self checkout. It's very convenient and I'm in and out very quickly. read more

This is the cleanest location and I love shopping here. I can get fresh vegetables, spices, and meat at the lowest price anywhere. Today I found great looking New Zealand bone in lamb shanks for only $6.98/lb! I especially like their bulk bins as I can get just the amount of spices I need instead of having to buy an entire bottle that I don't use and go stale. There's never any lines and I can self check out and get out quickly. read more

I had 11 which is under the 15 item limit. She counted each little candy cane as one item that was in a bag from bulk food. That was one item! It's been my experience that this location is never full to the point where you have to wait in a long lines. Perfect!!! Stopped in for grapes and laundry products but ended up, coming out with bulk products I did not realize that they have bins that you could purchase grain and candy items that you want/ need by the scoop. This is a game changer for us honestly. I end up throwing so much away for not being able to use/ eat it before expiration but now knowing that bulk products other than candy are offered here, I will start getting them here. The prices are a bit less than shopping at frys stores on some items in my opinion. I've noticed that, their grapes are never good grapes, always mushy and not plump but. other items such as pineapple and potatoes are of good quality. There's plenty of onsite parking and shopping karts along with sanitizer wipes to wipe down the karts. I had been shopping for about a 1/2 hour when a manager approached me and asked me if I had dropped a $20 bill. I reached in my pocket and realized I was missing one. He handed it to me and said I had fallen out of my pocket in the produce department. When I first started shopping. I was on the other side of the store when he found me. And how did he know it was me? He had taken the time to check the servalance camera to see who may have dropped it. And then walked around the store until he found me That is going above and beyond the call of duty. Thank you for that. It's also the reason my wife doesn't let me carry cash. read more

I will not shop at winco! Neither will my family and friends. My SIL went to winco late one night to pick up some things for my daughter because she was very sick at home, just found out she was positive with Covid. They had to cancel their vacation because of her having Covid. They are both in the medical field and very responsible and have never done anything like this and it was an honest mistake! He was shopping and began the o not feel well, so he grabbed a premade sandwich and ate it while shopping for her. She was at home sick running a high fever and he was in a little bit of a rush and not thinking he forgot to pay for a $2 sandwich, approximately. Not the point. He had all intentions of paying for it, it just slipped his mind and as he walked out he was stopped. They didn't even give him a chance to just pay for it. That would be the first thing winco should have done but instead they took it way too far! Not only did they threaten to call the cops! Over a sandwich, but they fined him $250 for an honest mistake. Tell me no one has ever walked out of a store with something in your cart you didn't pay for because you honestly didn't notice it was there or maybe you drank a bottle of water and forgot to pay for it? I have seen people in frys eating bags of chips or some other snacks then put the open bag back on the shelf. At least he was willing to pay for the sandwich but no that was not enough for winco! He was told he had until today to go into the store and pay this fine. Not told what method of payment it had to be. He showed up today to pay it and they wouldn't take the payment and said he has to mail in a MO. I'm sorry, but you could have given him the chance to settle up and pay for the sandwich as it was an honest mistake. This guy is far from someone who would steal a sandwich let alone steal anything! So when my daughter told me what happened, we won't be going to winco and now we will let our friends and extended family know not to shop there! read more

We need more stores like this one. 24/7, always reliable, competitive prices, and AMAZING selection. Only downside is you might have to wait 1 minute for someone to ring up your items but if it's 3am what do you expect. They are usually always quick too, thank you WinCo for never letting me down, it's like a better version of Costco. read more

This four star review is generous. Let me start there. I don't feel like they deserve the full fourth star but it feels harsh to take them to a three because there are some positives to appreciate. First and foremost the store is a significant size with a lot of product. The prices are decent and the few employees that we've actually interacted with were friendly. The store itself, however, could use a good scrubbing and some detail paid attention in corners, etc. Upon one visit there was an entire group of employees blocking an aisle way while chitchatting, which was quite frustrating. I don't think they were local employees. I think they were managers or execs visiting from corporate but they should have enough sense to get out of the customers' way. read more

We have been shopping at the store ever since it opened. We have never ever been forced to put all of our items back into the cart and move to another checkout line when we only had five items. This woman who made us move, obviously had a problem with us cause she was letting other customers go through with more items than we had six or eight bags and we had like one thing over the 15 items which is ridiculous. I have never ever been treated like this, and according to a managerShe was New but it took almost 45 minutes to get through the line. There is hardly ever anybody working and every morning I need to stop here it has one register open and they never open the self check out in the morning. I'm sorry but people that are stopping in the morning for one or two things want to be in and out. I don't understand how there's workers walking around but nobody can open the register. Today for example I was in a long line and the employee working at the register said oh go over to aisle 13 she's going to open. Another employee came over and went to the register so I went over and then the other employee told me no I'm not opening I'm just checking something fun I had to get back in the long line and of course at the end because I didn't want to upset anyone even though technically I was in front of them to begin with. It was my first time checking out WinCo. This grocery store is huge! It offers something for everyone. It's easy to get lost in the abundance of product and overspend, while this store claims it offers lower prices. My complaint is the checkout. There was only one person open, the rest were self checkout. I was in a time crunch, so I went to self. As soon as I got there, the lady overseeing self commented that I have over 15 items. Self checkout is only for 15 items or less. I apologized, and continued. Of course, there were some hiccups during self checkout and the associate was less than helpful to help. She hollered from her register what I needed to do, rather than approaching me. I didn't see a sign or posting indicating debit card or cash only and tried using my credit card. Again, hollers from her saying I can't use my credit card. I felt embarrassed and ready to leave by then. I don't know if I'd come back to this particular store because of the checkout hassle. read more

As of this writing, they're a predominantly West coast chain with stores in Idaho, Washington, Oregon, California, Montana, Utah, Arizona, Nevada, Texas & Oklahoma. My reason for writing this thorough review, complete with a ton of photos is, I truly value the WinCo Foods shopping experience! First off, they're employee owned and don't accept credit cards, which helps cut down on processing fees. Be advised you will need cash, personal checks or a debit card to shop here. They have an ATM at the front of the store if you need cash. The store offers a diverse selection of produce, quality meats, seafood, and a complete deli counter. The bakery offers fresh bread and the basics. The staff is friendly; everything is clean and organized. I think the prices are just a little under the average on most things. One thing you don't see much anymore, is an impressive selection of bulk foods. They have an area where you can grind your own almond and nut butter, and also dispense bulk vinegar and virgin olive oil. Honey is huge as well. Lastly, they have a sizable bulk fresh-roasted specialty coffee area. WinCo Foods offers a Customer Service Counter that will cash payroll checks, sell money orders, offers Western Union money transfers, Coinstar and FAX services. On Jan 11, 2025 around 7:30pm I was shopping at this Wico store on peco rd and when it was time to check out there was only 1 register lane open out of the 17 register lane they have, so I was in a hurry to get home to my wife who is battling cancer so I decided to use the 15 item or less register lane because they were all open and because I only had 2 extra items, the check out register started to peep because I went over the items by 2. The employee came over and stated that I should not have use the 15 item or less register because it does beep, I stated the 1 regular register full with other customer(s) and I had to get home to my wife who is ill cancer, the employee then stated it does not matter you can not use the 15 or less item register, she was rude and heartless, then she walks over another employee sitting on her butt at the end of another register i then noticed both of them laughing, I was so embarrsed by her tone her attitdue . I will never shop at this winco store or any other for that matter and by the way I left the items in the cart without paying . so sad for it happened. read more

Signs up regarding mask wearing however those are just for show. Nobody enforces mask wearing, unlike Target who will stop you at the door to give a free mask. We happened to get behind a mask-less couple who declared that they didn't like masks & told the cashier not to believe everything she read & she happily went along with their theory's. The wife declared she didn't want "carbon monoxide poisoning" they husband proceeded to cough while bagging his grocery's & decided to top it off by licking his fingers to grab more bags. Clearly health issues were not the reasons they didn't wear masks. I could not have been more disgusted. My mom has a compromised immune system & just like others she needs grocery's & thought she could rely on a Company to enforce the mask policy that they claim to have. I felt bad for the kids who had to use the space he just left with his germs as they went to bag grocery's for their mom. Not one employee said anything to the maskless open cougher who licked his fingers at the Winco. Not one employee wiped down the bagging area. I've shopped at WinCo in California before, and always liked their bulk foods section. I was again very impressed with this new store that opened in Gilbert near SanTan Village for the ever-expanding buying-in-bulk options. I mean, you can buy Pork Rinds in bulk here! That's ridiculous... ridiculously awesome! (Although it might be an indicator of future cardiac health issues if you really need to sustain a Pork Rind habit that involves buying them by the pound!) The other bulk foods available at WinCo includes a dedicated station for walnuts and pecans, honey and nut butters, an impressive array of whole bean coffees, and bulk spices (even taco seasoning... amazing!). I was also pleased to note that their prices are very competitive when it comes to lunch meat and other items that I hate to get nickel-and-dimed to death on. Wasn't entirely smitten with their choices of beefsteak however. I can find better prices on New York Strip steaks (Costco, for instance), but their ribeyes were decent and only around $6/lb. I would advocate checking out WinCo if you're a savvy, price comparison shopper. You're likely to find that they underprice the competition on a lot of grocery items, however, their selection may be lacking in some departments. Nonetheless, it's a great big huge store that is fun to explore, even if it's on a fact-finding mission to see how many peach gummy rings you would need to buy to fill an entire bathtub. read more

Big Empty Store, No Credit Cards, Kind Of Odd Vibe This was my first time popping into this store. We got some hamburger bins and little things. The store was clean and actually nice to walk through though I wasn't looking for much. There were almost no people shopping for some reason, maybe the state sponsored quarantine has something to do with it. Upon attempting to check out at the self checkout none of our credit cards would work in the credit card machine. I asked a worker who was grumpy and appeared annoyed that neither of us saw the tiny sign under the credit card terminal that says no credit cards. Their register even asked us to select payment and we kept putting the card in and it wouldn't work... so cash it is, but ugh... If I make it in here again ever I may recreate my review with more detail and maybe happier takes of employees that don't have attitude problems like the old white lady today. Jesus I spent an hour gathering 399 dollars worth of stuff and wind up leaving it because I have no cash or check. Check ... what the hell is that?!!! My mother 88 years old called time on checks 5 years ago! Poor lady at the register dragging my 50lb bags of sugar across the register area because they have no cordless register guns! I have now lifted it twice myself and oh by the way have to put it back in my cart as I bag my own groceries! The poor lady tears the bag of sugar open on the conveyor makes a mess and leaves embarrassed . Epic. I don't know what it is about this place it feels like the twilight zone. Perhaps they moved all the cemetary headstones but left the bodies under the foundation. But it just feels off, but they have a excellent selection of produce. Bulk foods (I mean anything you would want in bulk that you could eat, if they were next to a college like ASU they could sell a nice bulk selection of condoms and make a killing on the diversity of selections.) Lets talk about produce, their prices are way better than Costco across the street. I won't buy produce at Costco because for some reason it goes bad very fast and I have two kids whom eat everything but when I buy produce at WinCo it lasts for a few more days. It makes me consider if CostCo is running a just in time produce so its at the peak of being ripe. That's fine if your a restaurant and you need your purveyors to deliver everything ripe and at peak flavor. So I buy all produce at Winco. Consider this, when I go sometimes they are out of produce and while that does not impact me very much it makes aware they stock enough for every two days and not longer. Lets talk about meat, they have a nice selection of all meats you could want and red meat right now is a mint I don't understand why its so expensive but after this review I'm going to look. But the prices for red meat here are very reasonable Pork and Chicken are lower in price than other places too. I didn't see the already cooked chicken but I would bet its there. They have a nice beer selection which was a surprise and since I'm not a member of AA I picked up a six pack. Besides as my grandfather said "AA is for quitters" and he was a high functioning alcoholic. In the end it was a stroke and not alcohol that took him at 89. I take serious issue with the review of John S. This person has a serious axe to grind on Winco and if you read it consider it was written by someone whom perhaps suffers from OCD and hates dogs. To write that the dog is could do his business in the produce? Serious? Its 2018, we can't let a slight go on twitter without burning down the whole planet and he thinks we would all let it go if a dog was crapping in the produce? SAGE is rude and nasty to customers. There was an issue with my WIC card. I've never had an issue with my WIC card ever until this day. The first two times there was a system issue. Sage kept telling me to hit Ok but the only thing on my end was Please Wait. No option to hit ok. The third time he claimed it was denied my the source. My WIC was working just fine at every other store. Sage told me out of his/her mouth "Oh well. There's nothing we can do." Sage was in such a rush to leave because his manager told him to cut his light off. He basically ran out of there once he was finished ringing us up and we had to deal with his end of the night attitude. Because of this I'll never shop at another Winco. I only shop places that have great customer service which I've always experienced until Sage. Sage has no business working with customers with that attitude. read more

I used to shop at the WinCo in Southern CA and loved it. The employees were so friendly and gave great customer service. The employees that work here look miserable. I returned an item to the courtesy counter yesterday and the older woman with the blond hair was not at all friendly and didn't smile at all. Also, I usually go through the self check out and the employees never say hello. The prices here are generally on par with Walmart. You do have to bag your groceries yourself and you have to pay cash/debit. It is a big store and it is clean. They have bulk items which I used to use, but the other day I saw a small child putting his bare hand deep in the bin while the mother was playing on her phone. Not very hygienic. For a native Chicagoan like me, this store brings back the memories of the old Cub Foods. The quality of the food is excellent and the prices are reasonable. However, what drives my rating is two things. First, the customer service. I have been to larger stores like Frys, Albertson's, and Basha's. When you walk into them in comparison to WinCo, the experience is night and day. The people at WinCo genuinely try to help and we often seek out those who have made our experiences memorable (Yes, Dani, we are talking about you!) Second is the Bulk Foods section. Many of the items in that section are cheaper or even better quality than the name brand products. For instance, let's suppose you are getting some Frosted Flakes. The average cost of Kellogg's Frosted Flakes is over $3 per 15 oz box. For that price, you can almost get 2.5 lbs of Frosted Flakes from the Bulk Section. Third, the sales at this store tend to be quite phenomenal. When they opened, they had a sale on full slabs of ribs for $.99 per lb and you could get a decent slab for $5-$7. Recently, they had strawberries at $.75 per pint. Can't beat those prices anywhere. This store is our go-to aside from Costco. read more
