I brought in a small but sticky problem--a missing set screw from a bathroom towel fixture--and Stephanie didn't skip a beat as she spent twenty minutes searching for the right size and style to fix it. I've been in and out of this hardware store a handful of times. I first went out of convenience (it's the closest) but I have went back because they are helpful. It's a relatively small store considering the two main hardware behemoths, but they have lots of the basics and with a decent parking lot for a store this size, it's easy to get in and out of. I had to return multiple tools and they gave me no issues with exchanges and refunds. read more

Stopped in to buy a simple item, which they had in stock. The problem was they had the most godawful old-timey music BLASTING throughout the store. It was truly awful. I wanted to poke around and see what else they offered, but had to get out because I couldn't bear it. I doubt I'll go back. Too bad because I'd like to support a small neighborhood store. read more

Do not try and duplicate your car key fobs here. I ordered a couple and when I checked status 2 weeks later, it wasn't ordered (the manager tried to say it wasn't shipped) so he had to put a rush on it. When it finally did come in, they weren't able to program neither one of them. I had to get a refund. I ended up going with a locksmith. It was cheaper. He came to my residence. And it took no more than 20 mins. He already had the key fobs and it was cheaper as well! These guys don't know what they're doing read more

2 stars because they have the rental carpet cleaner I need! This store is a mess and looks more like a swap meet than a nice hardware store. There is so much junk stacked everywhere and yes I said junk. This is not really the reason for the review. I was helped by an older gentleman with a long beard. He took a copy of my ID and went to get the machine. When he was walking over to get it he was talking to me so I followed. He then made a comment about my drivers license and how the picture must be extremely old because it looks nothing like me and how the rain must have been hard on me today. Making a comment about someone like that is very unprofessional, inappropriate and down right rude. I am so disappointed and honestly offended. Be kind, you never know who you are talking to and how they might take that type of comment. read more

I bought three rat traps: Victor, TomCat and Jawz. Came home and set the Victor and TomCat with no problem, but the Jawz spring mechanism would not catch. Drove back to the store with receipt and Jawz trap (which I had already put peanut butter into), and explained to clerk what happened. I wanted to return the Jawz and get a Victor in its place, and simply pay the 40 cents + tax extra due to difference in price. When clerk processed the return, he said I owed $2.21. I asked how this could be when the Victor was $8.99 and the Jawz was $8.59. Another clerk at the counter butted in and said it was because I used my $5 off of $20 or more purchase... which did not make sense to me either. Then this same other clerk who was trying to make the Jawz trap work, implied I had put too much peanut butter on the trap. The peanut butter was not in excess -- it simply filled the little hole. And if this know-it-all other clerk had taken time to see how the trap was engineered he would have seen the peanut butter was not bearing weight on the trip deck at all. Instead, he chose to try to make me look like I didn't know what I was doing. I'm the one who spent my gas and time driving back to the store to return a defective item, and this is the treatment I get? Shame on him! I paid the $2.21, took my Victor rat trap and left the store... perhaps never to go back again. read more

I don't come to this store very often, however the times I have, I have always received such great service. The members here are so knowledgeable and helpful! When I called in to check a stat on my online order Nick assured me it would be fulfilled by the end of day, he then called me about an hour later letting me know its done even though I got an email stating it was shortly before his call. I love love the communication and customer service. I felt like Nick went beyond to reach out to me about my order. There was another gentleman who I forgot his name, but stated he doesn't always work at this location. He was extremely helpful when I needed help looking for a product. Not only was he able to find it within seconds, but he also asked me if I needed any other supplies and ask me what kind of project I was doing. He was very engaged and helpful. Prices are great and although the store may be a tad small for my liking, they have SO much to offer. I am always amazed by their inventory and cleanliness! read more

Customer service, bah! Have a 3yr old can of paint that i wanted to have shaken. First one of the workers was going to do it, but a young "supervisor " ran over to say that they don't shake old paint cans b/c sometimes they spray paint all over the machine. (Imagine a paint shaker machine with paint on it!!) He handed me a stir stick and paint can opener, "but we will give you these." I went to Home Depot at the Plant, and what do ya know, they shook it in their machine. Wasn't even they're paint brand. The man said that the paint was still good, looked up the color on the computer, and said that they could replicate it if i wanted more. This is the 2nd time in 4months that Ace on Lincoln has disappointed me with their, "We don't do that" policies. read more

Sadly, I'm very disappointed. I ordered a very simple decorative chain online that said it was "in-store." It wasn't.... Oh well, I got over that... What is really pissing me off is the driving back and forth trying to pick up my item. The fact that I ordered my item on April 30th, then later April 7th received an email declaring it was "Ready for Pickup" I then did what any normal person does... I drove to the store to get my item. Which I checked to see once before if they actually had "in store" as was mentioned online but was not promised. I arrived to the store and waited in line even though my item has already been paid for. A gentleman looked in the system and said that the item was not ready and I should wait for their call. He said to call back if I dont hear back... It now has been 13 days since my order was placed. I should have and would have had it by now had I ordered it online. However, the item was $3.99. Shipping it would have cost more. Not to mention as I did in the beginning, this was supposed to be "in stock" originally. I understand being understaffed. But I have 1 single item. And it's been 13 days. In addition. How did I receive an email stating my order was ready. And how did I come into your store and you guys not locate this order somehow. This is extremely disorganized. I work in management and someone needs to manage this team better. There is absolutely a list of online orders that comes through. Someone should be going through those orders and making sure they have been taken care of. I can only imagine the amount of cancelled or delays due to mismanagement. I have always been treated well at Willow Glen Ace Hardware on Lincoln Avenue. Employees seem both helpful and informed on the products. Yesterday was a sharp departure. My furnace had suddenly stopped working in late December. I had three people from three different furnace companies over to check it. All three said my furnace needed to be replaced, but they were booked for the next several days and couldn't replace it right away. Freezing, I immediately went to Ace Hardware to pick up a couple of space heaters, selecting two of the salesman's suggested model. Miracle of miracles! A fourth service person from an earlier call came the next day. He was in my home for less than 20 minutes when he had my furnace humming with heat! The charge? "I wasn't here that long," insisted "John." He wouldn't take my money. I insisted on taking his card. It read "DG Heating & Air Conditioning, residential & commercial, 408-201-9411." No longer needing the two big, heavy, unopened and untouched space heaters from Ace Hardware I took them back. I did not have a receipt. They had been reasonably priced and I had probably paid cash. The gentleman behind the counter refused to take them back. "May I speak to the manager?" I asked. "I am the manager," he replied, curtly, hoisting the two boxes and taking them back to my car. What a wonderful experience on the phone and in person. I needed to program my Lexus key fob and Ace hardware is the lease expensive! Spoke to Alex over the phone where he double checked whether it can be done. He then explain to me that Jonathan and himself are the only two that are capable of completing the task. Alex is off on Tuesdays but Jonathan was here when I set me up. While he was assisting he was also assisting others...as we were walking out of the store he greeted everyone in the parking lot.all I can say is that is great customer service! read more

Ace in willow glen is not a place I would recommend going. I called in which I spoke to Zach regarding. Smart Key Fob programming. He recommended that purchase the key from them in order to guarantee work, however they could program the keys outside keys with no guarantee regarding the longevity of the programmed key. I was fine with that, then when I arrived Jonathan said they don't do Smart Key Fob programming or cut smart key. Obviously there is a significant disconnect in communication and services provided, which was a waste of my time. I would recommend another hardware store which can support your needs. read more
