The image shows the exterior of Willard's BBQ restaurant in a shopping plaza, with several parked cars in the lot. The storefront has a black awning with white lettering displaying the restaurant's name, and adjacent storefronts include a dentist and other businesses. The sky is clear and bright, with the sun shining overhead, creating lens flare and casting shadows on the ground.

The sandwich combo at Willard's is one of the best bbq sandwich deals around. I think it's even better than any sandwich combo around. I stopped by the Reston location and had Smokey Joe's Chopped Beef Endz Sandwich with mashed potatoes and gravy, and beans and rice as sides. I also ordered a piece of cornbread. The chopped brisket came in a generous portion. And since I was dining in, they served it and the sides on a disposable plate, along with a small container of gravy. Doused in their sweet bbq sauce, the caramelized smokiness of the meat really shined. Whenever I have a sandwich here, the filling always spills out onto the wrapper and, doused with more sauce, makes a good finale to the meal. The mashed potatoes were thick and well blended. Bits of potato skin were mixed throughout. The gravy was wonderful -- rich and slightly spicy. The beans and rice were good, but you should reserve a little gravy for this, too. The cornbread cube was perfect. Slightly sweet, slightly squishy, and slightly crumbly. The Reston location has limited seating and a weekday lunch crowd could easily overwhelm it. The Chantilly/Dulles Expo Center location is huge (years ago, the adjacent business space closed and they took the wall down between the two). The sauce selection is good -- I usually go with the regular sweet bbq sauce and sometimes add the hot bbq sauce to add some zing. Occasionally, I'll go for the gold sauce as well. If you like vinegar, they have a North Carolina version for you. What I still can't get over is the great price of the sandwich combo. It includes two sides and ranges from $9.79-13.99, depending on the meat. That beats out a lot of combo meals at places like Wendy's and Arby's ("we got the meats" my ass). Sure, you don't get a drink included with that at Willard's, but just bring your own water. Soda's bad for you, anyway. Arby's has its place (Beef 'n' Cheddar, limited time crispy fish sandwich), but, especially if you're at the Expo Center, if there's ever a choice between the two, it should be Willard's.

Burnt Ends - A disposable white plate contains shredded barbecue meat with sauce, baked beans, and mashed potatoes topped with gravy. A small plastic cup of barbecue sauce is placed on the plate. A slice of cake with a golden-brown crust is wrapped in branded paper, with a plastic fork resting on it. A bottle of water is positioned nearby on a red metal table with a perforated pattern, suggesting an outdoor dining setting.

From Maryland and come to here for lunch whenever I'm in the area. Great food. Great portions. All the meats are good. Sides are great.

Texas Sliced Beef Brisket Platter - A white plate holds sliced beef brisket with barbecue sauce, accompanied by macaroni salad, coleslaw, and a piece of cornbread. The meal is served on a wooden table, typical of a barbecue restaurant setting.

I can't quite claim to be a pit BBQ expert but for me, Willards always satisfies the occasional BBQ craving. I always order the brisket platter and recently tried their macaroni salad as a side - very tasty with a little heat! The cornbread is also on point every time. Staff are always friendly and welcoming.

Ordering area - Order counter with menu boards hanging above, displaying barbecue dishes, sides, and platters. Digital screens below show special offers and prices. The counter has a metal and white tile design, with a staff member visible behind it. The interior includes a neon sign, a wooden table with a caddy, and a refrigerated display case. The setting is a casual barbecue restaurant with a focus on smoked meats and sides.

Stopped by and tried Willard's ribs today. Cost was decent. 35$ for a full rack two sides, 2 drinks and 2 corn breads. The ribs were about a 7/10, a little dry but flavorful. The mash potatoes and Mac and cheese were very good. The corn bread although huge pieces lacked flavor which was disappointing. The employees were very nice and helpful. The place in general can be a bit complicated to order from since there are a lot of choices.

Texas Teaser Tray - A disposable white plate on a red tray contains pulled pork, two types of barbecue ribs, a sausage link, macaroni and cheese, and a serving of rice and beans. Two small black cups of sauce are placed behind the plate on a wooden table, with another dish partially visible in the background.

Stopped in to Willards for a quick lunch on a Friday afternoon. Thoroughly enjoyed my experience. The guys behind the counter were very nice and the food came out very quick. There's a decent amount of seating area if you want to dine-in. I got a tray with a bunch of different meats and sides. Standouts for me were the sausage and dirty rice. Brisket was good not great but the rib and pulled pork made up for it. Found this place to be very affordable as well seeing as I got a plate full of barbecue, a couple sides, and a drink for around $20. Will differently return for lunch again.

a tray of ribs and sides - The image shows two red trays on a wooden table, each containing barbecue food and sides. One tray has sliced smoked brisket, ribs, and fried chicken, accompanied by coleslaw and green beans. The other tray contains cornbread slices, pickles, and a small container of sliced cucumbers. Utensils, napkins, and condiment packets are also visible, along with a menu and a glass of drink. The setting appears to be a casual dining environment, likely a barbecue restaurant.

It tasted like cafeteria food! The buns were pure slop. I had higher hopes . The potatoe salad was better than actual meal..

The one blip was when we first entered, the young-ish man at the host desk looked at us with a "What are you doing here?" grimace. I was stunned since the hosts are usually very happy to see patrons come in. Beyond that, though, we had a lovely time. Our server was quite friendly and got hubs customized Cuban order just right. I had the killer tomato basil soup and tasty grilled cheese. I also got an order to go of the Buffalo Chicken wrap. It was yummy the next day for lunch. We hadn't been to NYAJ's in years. It had somehow fallen off our dining radar. We'll be back more often after our recent terrific dinner.

I meet some old friends at this restaurant fairly often and we are always well taken care of. We often have Caesar as our waiter and he has been there a long time, and always does a great job. He is polite, friendly, professional and attentive. The food is good. I don't know if I would say there is anything fantastic about it, but I have never had a bad meal there. I've had the chicken parm, the Cuban sandwich, burgers, and salads and everything had been tasty and freshly prepared. I love a good Cuban sandwich and NYAJ's is a good one, and they are one of the few restaurants with a Waldorf salad on the menu, so I have ordered that several times. My only critique of that would be, I wish it had the candied pecans that are listed as an ingredient on the menu, but the last 3 times I have had that salad, they have been missing. I also love the French onion soup there, as well as many of the appetizers. You really do not have to worry about getting a bad meal at Not Your Average Joe's, it's very reliable.
