Very close to my house. Been coming here for years. They recently revamped the menu. Lots of options. Everything I've had has been yummy. Super friendly staff. Great outdoor seating.

This location has been plagued with bad luck for the last few years- When it was the Oasis, I loved…read moreit...there was a short stint for JRs BBQ- the food was good but not great for everyday fair. I think that for the location, this place definitely now has staying power. I stopped in last week to see what they had. It is hard to find good salads in our area, so I decided to go with a California Walnut salad (half orders available!). Very fresh greens...good dressing. I also ordered a half cup of chicken tortilla soup- I fell in love with the soup...was not very chunky (my daughter pointed out) but it was very flavorful and perfect for lunch when you have to get back to work and be worth something. I noticed that they had Greek Spaghetti for the special of the week...it looked and smelled AMAZING- for $7, a HUGE plate...but there was no way I could even think about going there. I actually have to get back to my desk and not sleep :) Today I managed to get the whole office to order. Wouldn't you know they delivered it? I got again, the walnut salad and a cup of today's soup: TOMATO BISQUE...my eyes rolled in the back of my head when I tasted it! The guys who ordered the fried chicken sandwich special said it was VERY good...those who ordered burgers found them lacking- I signed up for the weekly special to be emailed to me....so now I get a good idea of what they can do...mostly American fair: burgers, sandwiches, etc...and weekly specials. The employees seem youthful and happy to be there- management is very nice, as well. I'm very, very excited to have them in the 'hood!

One thing about outer Sacramento is it can be difficult to find restaurants open for lunch…read more Unless, you are going to SacTown Cafe. SacTown is open for breakfast and lunch. I went with my girlfriend, I ordered the BLT she ordered the Roasted Veggie Wrap We both chose Kettle chips and fruit with it. The BLT was "bonus" with turkey, avocado and cream cheese in addition to lettuce, bacon and tomato on a generous french roll. This was extremely delicious and the turkey had some terrific seasoning. The Roasted Veggie Wrap came with onion, eggplant, zucchini, peppers, polenta & goat cheese. At first I was thinking the goat cheese might be weird on the wrap, but it turned out to be brilliant. The textured tortilla that was served with all of this was delicious. This was a fantastic wrap, and I really enjoyed it. The side of fruit and Kettle chips hit the spot. I recommend this if you come here. I was tempted by the menu and took extra time deciding what to order. Everything sounded so amazing. I will have to make a trip back here to try some other sandwiches/wraps.

I am well overdue for this updated review but here I am nearly a month and a half later. My husband…read moreand I came here for Valentine's Day even though I mentioned to him my prior and only experience was not the greatest. What convinced me was their Valentine's menu and let me say it sure didn't disappoint! Our server was Mia who was an absolute pleasure to have. She was attentive, kind, and very informative of the menu when we were indecisive. We were seated in their speakeasy, completely separate from the main restaurant, which I enjoyed much more. (less hustle and bustle) The ambiance was more romantic and intimate. I chose the Grilled Salmon served with garlic mash potatoes, fried brussels sprouts, and maple bourbon glaze. This was 15/10! Everything was perfection. The salmon wasn't too wet or dry, brussels were lightly crispy and not bitter like I've had at other places, garlic mash was well-seasoned and so creamy and fluffy. That glaze was everything that pulled the dish together! The maple glaze wasn't too sweet and had a nice subtle flavor. If they ever have this on their regular menu I'd order in a heartbeat. My husband got their North Atlantic Lobster Tail. They did not skimp on the lobster at all!!! His plate was served with bistro rice, broccolini, and butter to drown the lobster in of course. Rice was fluffy but could've used a bit more seasoning and broccolini was cooked well while still having a bit of a bite to it. We ended the evening with their Pot de Crème served with hazelnuts, strawberries, and whipped cream. This was another delicious bite! Yes, it is chocolate so you would expect something super decadent and overly sweet. That was not the case... It was similar to a mousse but a little more denser and rich but still offering such a creamy and silky texture. Glad we came here to celebrate Valentine's Day! Cheers to second chances!

We went to Sheldon Inn Restaurant & Bar on a Saturday night, and honestly, this started off as one…read moreof those "let's just try our luck" kind of dinners. We had checked online and even called and were told no tables, but figured maybe we could grab a spot at the bar. When we walked in, I thought, " What's the harm in asking"...and somehow a table for two had just opened up. One of those meant-to-be moments. I started with a martini, which was great, and I ordered the macadamia crusted halibut special with asparagus and mashed potatoes. The fish itself was really good. The potatoes needed a little help, though. I definitely wish I had asked for extra sauce and a little salt and pepper, but I did appreciate that they tasted homemade with those bigger chunks. We also got the French onion soup to start, and that was so good. It had little tips of filet in it, and honestly, that might have been my favorite part of the whole meal. My husband ordered the stuffed chicken, and this is where things kind of went sideways. The chicken was really dry, and then halfway through, he bit down on what looked like a cherry pit. Definitely not something you expect, and kind of a mood killer. We called the waiter over, and they were very apologetic, and the service the entire night really was great. But between the dry chicken and that surprise, we were kind of done at that point. We were planning on dessert, but just didn't even feel like it anymore. That said, we've been here before and have had really great meals, which is why I wouldn't write it off. The service was great, everything was clean, and it still has that nice, classic feel. Also, a side note, I used the restroom before we left, and I have to say, as a mom, seeing an actual changing station with drawers and supplies made me so happy. I remember those flimsy fold down tables and being nervous using them, so this felt like such a thoughtful touch. They even had a bidet, which I tried to check out, but it wasn't working. Helpful tip: Get the French onion soup, and if your dish comes with a sauce...ask for extra. Not a perfect night, but enough good here that we'd come back again.

We were able to make it before 4:00 pm, when lunch prices change to dinner. The food was okay. I can always count on the salad, fried chicken and rolls to be satisfied. For dinner, they also provide steak, but trying it twice, my pieces were very chewy, even medium rare, so I gave up. You pretty much had to depend on sight because the labels did not coincide with the food. For example, the turnip greens were labeled fish, etc. The variety is helpful when don't quite know what you want, and great being able to try whatever you want, but I stuck to a drumstick, mashed potatoes and gravy, greens, a salad and a roll, after letting the steak go. I was pretty full after that and wanted to grab a cotton candy to go but they were out. When I asked if they were making more, they said 10 minutes. We sat leisurely and waited about an hour after checking again. When I checked a third time, she said no more for the day. I wished she would've said that in the first place.

PROS: Service was friendly, we told them we were excited to try this place for the first time and they explained how everything was put together. The establishment is clean and has a seating area for dine in. The meats were juicy and tender, not dry like I've had at other places. The rice was seasoned well. The salad added a great way to cut through the meats and rice. Everything was delicious and we will definitely return with some changes in HOW we order. (Less sauce and crispier fries). Advice we received from one of the men working there... the bowls will get you stuffed and the gyros will be perfect. He was so right, however, I did order a lot. Mixed platter & chicken platter: 9/10 needs less sauce (but this is my opinion) in the future I'll order sauce on the side. Loaded fries: 6/10 everything was good, the fries just were supposed to be the main attraction and they weren't. I will order this again though, and ask for the fries to be double fried extra crispy Mixed Gyro: 9/10 everything was perfect.
