I really wanted to check out downtown Georgetown and this place came highly recommended. It's a very old, candlelight dinner type of place, where people dine quietly and the servers are very proper and polite :) I was considering a glass of wine but ordered dessert...everyone was raving about the Bananas Wildfire...it did not disappoint! (oak grilled glazed bananas, served in a brandy snap cookie bowl with chocolate and vanilla ice cream, bittersweet chocolate sauce and whipped cream) I kind of felt guilty...but oh well, you only live once ;) An old theatre is next door and it was sweet to see elderly couples dressed nicely, holding hands. Based on my three star experience today and my five star experience last time, we'll put this place at a solid four. Today my chicken and dumplings was (were?) hot and peppery and rich. Came with a side of charred squash which was smoky and perfect. The service was quite good too but my friends "lunch ribeye" was more than half fat. Thin and riddled with it. SHUDDER. The last time I was here, the food was incredible. The service was incredible. And it was dinner so maybe the lesson is that you should go at night, enjoy a little ambiance, wine, and a leisurely dinner at a nice restaurant in Georgetown. read more

This place is exactly what you would imagine a restaurant should be in small-town America somewhere, right off the main town square. It's really cute, warm, and inviting. I'd bring out-of-town guests here just for that alone. Ambience: See above... but yes, it is very cute. You walk into a hallway with the bar on the right and restaurant on the left. We didn't check out the bar but the restaurant is reminiscent of a family dining room. We were seated at a booth. Fresh flowers on every table with a candle. This place is great for big groups as we saw several parties with 10-15 people. They have the big round tables so your party does not have to be split between tables or sitting at one of those long tables were you can't hear people at the other end. Service: In addition to ambience, this is probably the best thing about this place. Waitresses are all very attentive and personable. Checked on us several times and gave us some honest advice about drinks and dining options. Food: Soooo, if there's one thing negative about this place, I'd say the food is not awesome. Wine selection seemed big, but limited if you want it by the glass instead of the bottle. The bread rolls were warm and fresh and our shrimp artichoke heart appetizer was tasty. My bacon wrapped filet mignon was a little dry, and not quite melt-your-mouth. We also had the alpaca striploin with the chimichurri sauce and that was tough and dry... might just be alpaca but I wouldn't order that again. Bottomline: Really cute place with a huge menu selection for meats/proteins. Come hang out for a drink and bring friends. Great for big groups. I'll come back to check out breakfast/brunch. While in Georgetown for a week, we dined 3 times at Wildfire because we just couldn't get enough of its excellent fare and superb service! The cocktails were absolutely delicious. Even stopped by just for carry out cocktails one evening as we strolled around downtown. All the food we ordered was top of the mark (except one pasta dish, the one with chicken breast, which just didn't compare well with all the other delicious entrees we had). The steaks were perfectly cooked and very tender, including the truly memorable chicken fried steak. The shrimp entree was creative and delicious, too. And the appetizers--WOW, if we'd been less, er, "porcine" we would have made dinner just with the stellar appetizers, especially the scallops and shrimp! Nice atmosphere, not overly noisy, great great service. read more

BURGER REVIEW: "She ran calling WIIIIIIIIILD FIIIIRE..." Sorry, I can't help but have that old 1970's tune in my head when I think of this place. Upon scouting Georgetown for my relocation, I stuck my head in this place a few months ago, as it caught my eye while strolling about town. I was also lured to it by the smoky aroma of their smokers. I didn't stick around that time, but I put it on my "must try" list. So, this week, I happened to have an old friend visiting me from New Mexico, so we popped in for a drink. I know, this is a burger review. I'm getting to that. We looked at the bar menu, and I spied "The Melt". Without hesitation, I ordered their take on the traditional patty melt. It arrived quickly, which is always good. They serve it on Texas toast instead of the standard patty melt rye bread. I loved the idea, but they didn't seem to toast or grill the bread quite enough. It was a nice, thick bread, but it tended to get a bit soggy and gummy. That may be my only complaint, though. The patty was cooked to perfection. The carmelized onions were also done perfectly--not too firm. not overdone. A very nice melted swiss to tie the burger together nicely. It did come served with lettuce, tomato, and raw red onion, which I left on the burger at first, but realized these elements are just plain incongruous for a patty melt, so I jettisoned them, and restored The Melt to its pristine glory. Underdone bread aside, this was a very good burger. I'd order it again. To give a quick nod to the bar, it's a really great little lounge. The staff was nice, the beer was cold, and they have a great happy hour. The decor was rich, with red walls and a darker wood for the bar and accents. Some pretty cool art was on the walls , to give it a nice modern touch. Classy! read more

A lovely little gem in the middle of Georgetown! We were looking for a place to stop in for lunch and found Wildfire on Yelp. True to their word, Yelp reviewers did not steer us wrong. We were a little late for lunch, so the place was really quiet - in fact there was only one other table being served while we were there. That provided for a nice quiet lunch and pretty fantastic service. We got the pureed raspberry iced tea - best infused iced tea I've probably every had, and regular iced tea for our drinks. We were promptly brought bread, which was nicely crispy on the outside and warm and soft on the inside. My boyfriend had a cup of the green chile posole soup which was surprisingly good. For our entrees, we had Macadamian Jumbo Shrimp with Mango-Yellow Tomato Cocktail Sauce, (which was excellently breaded and the mango sauce was delightful), and the Grilled Monterey Chicken Bacon & Avocado with Artichoke Tapenade on a Ciabatta Bun and wedge fries. While this burger was amazingly good, and one of the prettiest presented burgers I've ever had, it was SO messy that it was hard to eat. The atmosphere was nice - with two separate dining rooms, and a separate area for the bar, and they were still nicely decorated for Christmas. They had a nice combination of booths and tables, and half-booth-half-table options. All in all, we really liked this place and had a great experience here. The prices for lunch were incredibly reasonable and because it was the middle of the day, we found nearby parking easily. If we ever find ourselves in Georgetown again, I'm pretty sure we'll be coming back! read more

This place is to die for! The greeter was such a cheery fellow and our waitress was absolutely stunning! Every girl in the place was super adorable. The entire staff really did put a smile on my face. The cucumber mason jar martini is probably my favorite drink I've had in a long time. I'm into more tart drinks than sweet, so it was just perfect for my taste. My mum got the ruby red martini which was pretty good, but I just couldn't get over mine! I had a cup of tortilla soup with my main dish. It had a variety of chunky veggies and chicken topped with cheese. I love when my soups aren't just broth and a few scattered pieces. Amazing flavor! I'm always scared to try new things, but I just had to have the penne pasta with marinara sauce. It had red and green capsicum, fresh asparagus, fresh poblano mushroom caps, and tender artichoke hearts all seared with a smokey flavor! I'm absolutely in love with this dish. My favorite part is that the pasta is gluten free so I didn't have any stomach ache after. I would honestly drive 30 minutes again to this place for dinner if I wasn't so lazy! read more

Came to Georgetown for a quick visit to the square and we popped in here for a bite at lunchtime. The service was friendly and we were seated to a pretty packed house right away. On first glance, the menu has got an enormous amount of selections. This is the kind of place Robert Irvine comes into and forces down the menu on because there is just too much here, and you wonder how they keep all the ingredients fresh and can go through them. My wife ordered the lemonade which was far too sweet. It probably needed almost double the water and lemon to balance it out. I ordered the chorizo stuffed pork loin with bacon collard greens and while it was ok, I wouldn't particularly recommend it or go for it again. The pork loin was on the more well done side and not particularly juicy, and there was very little chorizo to the point of really not even being able to taste it. The collard greens were pretty good I thought, however. The prices were pretty reasonable, so at least I wasn't let down by that, but overall the meal wasn't as enjoyable as the ratings let me to hope for. Wildfire works in a pinch, but I wouldn't go out of my way to dine here. read more

Wildfire used to be an upscale restaurant in Georgetown but I was very disappointed during my visit on Saturday, July 1, 2023. I was celebrating my 70th birthday with family and we were a party of 10 which included 2 toddlers. I made the reservation for 3pm between their lunch and dinner so the kids wouldn't be disruptive. We arrived on time, we ordered promptly but things were moving slowly. After dinner three ordered coffee. After a long wait it arrived cold so it was sent back for a fresh cup. I think three ordered dessert. We waited forever for the dessert and only two arrived. The waiter forgot to place the order for dessert number three. Another long wait. Now the waiter asked if anyone wanted to order another drink. I think three mixed drinks were ordered. Once the drinks arrived the waiter presented the bill. No problem! The transaction was completed and our party was finishing up with the cocktails they had ordered. Now appears a woman, who I later found out was Amber. She stood between my husband and I like a statue. It was 4:58 pm. I noticed her and made eye contact but she never said anything. She then asked my husband if he was hosting the party. She said your two hours were up and we needed to leave. I mentioned politely that the service had been slow and that we were finishing the cocktails. She stated we were told upon reserving that there was a two hour limit. I made the reservation and no mention of time was given. I understand time constraints but Ms Amber needs to find out the facts about why we are still at the table before embarrassing us in front of family and other patrons. That was not the way we wanted to end a celebration. I posted this review on the Wildfire website and it was taken down. The site says ' here's what our satisfied customers have to say'. We spent a lot of money, portions were small and the service was slow. It seems like someone would want to reach out instead of deleting a review. Me and Hubby stopped by the Wildfire in Georgetown, TX for lunch on Monday, December 6, 2021. We both ordered French Onion Soup and 10 oz New York Strip Po' Boy Sandwiches with fries. The French Onion Soup was very cheesy and tasted really good. The Po' Boys were layered in soft Italian bread and topped with mushrooms, grilled onions, and mozzarella cheese. We ordered the steak Po' Boys medium well; however, we received RARE steak Po' Boys. We really wanted to enjoy our Po' Boys; we were quite disappointed that we couldn't. I had eaten here before a few years ago and gave it another try in our recent visit to Georgetown. Overall, I found the food substandard for what I expect when paying in the upper teens for an entree. Dinner started with butter and bread. I was hungry and was eager to have an appetizer. Well, the rolls seemed like they were left over from some they made at least a couple of days ago. The bread was dry and was tasteless. For my main course, I had the Chorizo Stuffed Grilled Pork Tenderloin based on the waiters recommendation for a good pork dish. The food came to the table lukewarm to room temperature and overall I found the dish uninspiring. On the plus side, the meat and vegetables were cooked to the appropriate levels which did make it slightly better. I don't plan on eating here again. PS: I asked the waiter about a wine and he described it as both dry and sweet. How can that be? He did bring a sample -- it was dry. read more

Well come to find out because of COVID they close at 8 and their website never updated. They were so friendly and encouraged us to stay even though we apologized profusely and were willing to leave. Wonderful dinner with colleagues. This is a GREAT spot to go for MEAT in large and tasty quantities. I had a fabulous 16 oz steak and great baked potato. It seemed like more than 16 ounces... it was huge but soooo good! DO try the polenta appetizer-- a stand out and not something you can get anywhere. They have a great wine list. Only downside, no one seemed able to advise on wine selection -- so we had to largely guess. We were prepared to be up-sold so they missed an opportunity. Definitely recommend if you are in Georgetown. read more

With an entire empty dining room, they turned us away. Said they were expecting reservations in 45 minutes. We stated we only wanted a quick appertizer as we had somewhere to be before then (next door). Shame they'd turn away an easy sale that could have been something as simple as, "we can't seat you now, but may we offer a to go option? Or our next reservation is--- would you like to return then?" Instead went to a nearby restaurant on the square that greeted us warmly and happily took our money. Wildfire management could use a lesson on quality customer service. The first time we ate here, EVERYTHING was excellent. Food, service and ambience meshed together to provide us a wonderful evening. But, upon returning last month (August), the food and ambience was lacking. The service was still superb, but the meals for each of us (5) was disappointing. The veggies lacked crispness, perhaps cooked too long, or sitting in a pot waiting to be served. My filet was ok, but lacked any indication it was grilled, and was bland in color. Yes, I know, meat changes color when cooks. But, as someone who BBQs regularly, the filet's appearance simply did not measure up. Yes, I ate it just so I could be fair in this rating. I can honestly say it tasted as it looked - bland. When we we were leaving, a nice lady was standing near the exit and asked how everything was. We did not have time to go over the litany of concerns with her. This review will have to do. Perhaps they changed chefs, or decided on a different way to prepare their dishes. We had the elk filet, stuffed shrimp and the rack of lamb all of which were phenomenal. Solid beer selection and the house cab is good. Polished the meal off w a decadent key lime cheesecake. Cute restaurant in the Georgetown Square. Large menu with steaks, fish, chicken, etc. but with a Texas touch. We had the polenta for an appetizer which was very good. For dinner I had the scallop pasta which was yummy and had other seafood hidden in it. My husband had the ribs which were a huge portion. The service was an A+++. Our waitress was very attentive and friendly. After we paid the bill we sat on the front outdoor area so my husband could smoke and she brought me a water while I sat there. It is our go to place for special occasions. It's lovely. Good is good. Service excellent. Love their fried shrimp.

There are times when the quality does not measure up to previous visits, and "especially the portions" change from day-to-day depending on who is serving up in the kitchen, we guess. There are no standards in place for consistency. The table next to ours orders their meals with sides of sweet potato fries and get a sizeable amount. Someone at our table see's that and orders them to get at best 1/2 the amount. I ordered the shrimp enchiladas at lunch because it's my go to, but this time instead of sizable shrimp throughout each enchilada they chopped 4 small shrimp at most to go into 2 enchiladas. It will be a long time, if ever, any of us return to this pub. Went with friends recently for Prime Rib night, and hands down the worse excuse for Prime Rib anyone of us had ever had anywhere!!! It was so shocking. Not what anyone who comes to Texas should ever experience. One of our friends could not chew the dense, dry meat and stopped eating at the second bite. Another friend said take it home to your dogs. She replied, "Are you even serious right now??!! Agreed!! read more

Though the place is nice and dress code can be casual, you were treated as though the place is fine dining. The food was delicious with decent portion sizes. Our drinks were never empty and the waiter was very attentive and cordial. It was a great place for us to go out for our anniversary. Will likely be back for special occasions. This was our first time there. We ordered the pepper steak and elk. You could really taste the oak in the food. It also smells incredible right when you walk in. read more

We went back to wild fire for a family celebration. What a different experience this time. Ordered a bacon wrapped filet medium well. It came out bloody. They took the steak and potato back and tried to recook it. It was hat but still had blood in the meat. By his time everyone else in my party had finished eating and they still wanted to try to save this steak. I really don't think you should pay 40.00 for a small filet and have it recooked 3 times . My husband finally asked why they just didn't cook a fresh steak properly. It was then they offered a new steak. I said just forget the steak and the potato. We were ready to leave. Why would I want to sit and eat by myself? No return for us.. they did take my steak off of our bill. It was the least they could do. read more

Had a belated Valentine's Day dinner here and was very disappointed. Our server kept walking away before we could actually tell him what we wanted. The scallops app was okay, but wrapped in the bacon with the strange BBQ sauce was just weird and a little too salty. I got the elk tenderloin medium rare, the consistency of it was very nice but there was absolutely no flavor whatsoever in the dish. My husband makes better mashed potatoes any my asparagus has more flavor. The elk was supposed to have some kind of blueberry compote but I couldn't taste that, or anything else really. I was so sad! I had a couple bites and was just really disappointed, especially for a $35 plate of food. My husband's shrimp was good but everything else on his dish was totally lackluster. The flourless torte and shrimp corn chowder were delicious, but certainly didn't make up for everything else that was lacking. We won't be going back. Such a disappointment. read more

The location is near the square in Georgetown and we easily found parking right in front Inside, the tables are well spaced and the room has a nice cozy and elegant feel. Seating was fast and our server, Shannon, was friendly and thoughtful and took time with us to answer all of our questions. We tried: Light and fluffy dinner rolls Cajon crawfish blackened chicken Frutti di Mare Caesar Salad The Cajon Chicken was delicious and a "Must try" for anyone wanting a taste bud explosion. The Caesar salad had 2 giant prawns, 4 large scallops, and beautiful pile of crust calamari on top of a crisp, fresh salad. The dessert menu looked fantastic, but with the large dinner portions, we had to promise ourselves we would eat less so we could get dessert next time. Overall, the best food experience we have had since our move to Texas 6 months ago. We will definitely go back so that we can try some of the other choices. read more

Decided to go north to Georgetown We had brunch with me ordering Eggs Oscar style $14 (poached on english muffin with real crab meat and Salmon and hollandaise). My wife ordered veggie green chili egg white omelette with asparagus and artichokes. $12. Flavors were fresh and good. Service was on point. They even provide free fresh fruit and wonderful little scones for FREE with a breakfast entree. The atmosphere is cozy/country with an upscale refinement. I love that they play old jazz and have maintained the tradition of brining warm rolls and butter to the table. What can I say? I'm a gluten junkie. 3.5 Stars My wife and I decided to take in the 1st Friday Art Festival advertised online. We walked around the square experiencing the sights, sounds and art...which was limited I might add..after our square journey we dropped in to Wildfire. The Maitre d worked us in as we did not not have reservations. The hostess showed us to our table and Josh introduced himself as our waiter. Bread came right out deliciously amazing. To this point everything was excellent. Service was fantastic...they obviously cared about service. We started with a French Onion soup and a Brussel Sprout and beet salad. I might add the menu is beautiful and the descriptions are mouth watering. I choose the Teal Duck Breast. Considering I had just ate at Maison Pucha Bistro in Houston I wanted to compare as the prices were relatively the same. Soup was served first classic French Onion Soup presentation...perfect. When they set the salad in front of me I was confused. The tremendous description in the menu sounded like a masterpiece. Then a salad in a little round bowl with chopped up red beets was placed in front of me. It looked as if I was receiving a salad at a diner for a lunch special instead of a fine dinning establishment. Though the salad had good flavors, I was so distracted by the presentation that I was honestly disappointed. Then my main course... just zero presentation again. The Duck which is the highlight of the dish was just placed on the side of a plate like an after thought. A large scoop of mash Potatoes, carrots and green beans was just piled on the plate..the green beans and carrots had little flavor and were undercooked. The Duck though decent flavor had been cooked inconsistently. Part medium part medium rare. The skin had not been removed which made it very difficult to eat. I actually cut it off...it had decent flavor but the skin and inconsistent temperatures created some tender pieces and other parts were very tough. Just average at best. I will say on this evening the food did not match the service. Josh was fantastic, the Manager made a trip by and he was charming and efficient. The maitre d was right on top of his game...the Chef and kitchen really let the serving staff down. This restaurant has a romantic rustic atmosphere and provides great wine and service. They do need to work on there food presentation and food preparation care. That's all on the chef and kitchen. 5 star service 2.5 on the food...the soup and bread was 5 star and amazing. read more

The atmosphere is a large part of the charm. There was not a whole lot of "walking around" room, but the coziness was fine. Service was not memorable, meaning nothing stood out to me, either good or bad. The food was pretty good. We had the calamari for the appetizer, it was good. I have had much worse and some better. (That is a dish I use to "judge" restaurants if they serve it.) The main courses we had at our table were the cobb salad, couple of burgers, pecan crusted chicken salad, kids meals- chicken strips for both. The food was good, as was the presentation. I read some reviews about food temps and not being kid friendly, etc. and I did not experience that at all. Our experience was just fine. We will go back for sure. I am slowly but surely making my way around the notable spots in Georgetown and so far, all but one of them (I won't mention them here but they are in my reviews) has been really good. This is another place near the square that will likely not disappoint. It is worth trying at least once for sure and you will probably go back. read more
