We came in around 4 PM on a Sunday, got quickly seated, handed menus, water, etc. Food - overall very tasty. We were first served with warm up garlic bread, rolls, it was a pleasant surprise. The assorted tempura was light and crunchy. The gyoza had a crunchy outside, packed with flavor in the inside. The Hakata ramen is very flavorful (not to mention, very affordable these days). The tantanmen wasn't our favorite, I'll be honest. It kind of tasted more of a Sriracha flavor. Portions are pretty big, standard. Most places I can only eat half, and save the rest for lunch the next day. The desserts were delicious, I believe they were $4.95 each? The strawberry cake kind of reminded me of 85 bakery (if you're from California), but the flan was my favorite. The staff and other patrons have spoken in Japanese, it made me feel like I was in Japan again! Very memorable experience, will return again!

This place really took me back to the Moo Kra Ta buffets in Bangkok and made me nostalgic. I hope they do have more options in terms of seafood and veggies! I hope the restaurant specifies clearly that the services are on reservation basis only because it isn't clarified anywhere yet. This would help a lot of people. Also, I hope the restaurant informs, directs and put in place about the parking spaces available around. Can't wait to get back already!

Located in Downtown Phoenix, the parking situation is a little hairy. There is paid parking nearby,…read morebut it definitely is better to come a little earlier to scope out the parking situation and get that sorted before your reservation. My party and I had a reservation on a Saturday night at 9pm (when it's 13 people, what can you do). What kind of sucked though (and mainly why I'm deducting a star) is that we did wait an additional half hour to be seated after our reservation time. Our theory is that they didn't think the entire party would actually arrive, and they were not ready to accommodate us. To be fair, the restaurant IS on the smaller side, but there was 0 communication during that half hour on what was going on... which isn't really good for us either. We got the original set, and this somewhat confused me as well. The food was really good, and was definitely a restaurant that I'd go to for the experience, but for some reason some of the meats were doubled while others weren't. The double portions were really nice since our party was so large, we needed to split the food between 4 different grills (so each table got 2 grills each, feeding 6-7 people in total or 3-4 people per grill), but then we had to share the portions where we only got one serving. It wasn't bad, but to me, didn't make sense. The food was really good though; I didn't care too much about the soup, but the green sauce was SO good. Mixing a little with the soup was incredible. I thought the beef and pork were really good. I personally left the restaurant full, but many others in my party did not. I think it's a really good amount of food for 2 people, but when you push to 3+, you probably do not want to come hungry. Also--the live music at Pemberton next door is SO LOUD, you're going to be shouting at your table the entire night when you sit outside. I think I would come back if I wanted to show this place to someone who didn't live here, but it isn't on the top of my list for when I'm trying to eat out, but I will definitely consider this for special date night occasions. It is extremely expensive for what it is though. For $70+ you risk the chance of leaving not full which SUCKS.

OUTSTANDING. OUTSTANDING. OUTSTANDING…read more We tried bb.q Chicken Midtown Phoenix last night for the first time, and oh my goodness, we were completely blown away! We ordered the 8-piece Cheesy Blast Chicken, and that was all we needed to understand why people love this place. The chicken was absolutely incredible. The flavor was everything. The chicken was crispy, juicy, fresh, and packed with flavor in every single bite. That Cheesy Blast seasoning was SO good. It had the perfect amount of cheesy flavor without overpowering the chicken, and once we started eating, it was honestly hard to stop. This was one of those meals where everybody gets quiet for a minute because the food has your full attention. We only tried the Cheesy Blast Chicken this time, so I can't speak on the rest of the menu yet, but based on that one order alone, we are DEFINITELY coming back to try more. If the rest of the menu is anywhere near as good as what we had, we are in trouble because this place is about to become a regular stop for us. And I absolutely have to talk about the girl who was working the window last night because her personality was TEA! She was outgoing, funny, welcoming, full of personality, and just completely one of one. You know when somebody has that kind of energy where you immediately feel like you've known them forever? That was her. I could seriously become best friends with her any day. She made the whole experience even better just by being herself. Customer service matters, and she absolutely nailed it. She was warm, engaging, and had the kind of personality that makes you remember the experience after you leave. Great food will bring people in, but service like that makes people want to come back. As far as the ambiance, I want to be fair. This location is in the downtown Phoenix area and is connected to a gas station, so it doesn't really have that traditional restaurant atmosphere where you walk in, sit down, and enjoy a full dining experience. Personally, I think bb.q Chicken would absolutely SHINE in a different standalone location where the atmosphere could match how amazing the food is. The food deserves a space that really showcases it. That being said, the location would NEVER stop us from coming back. Everything else about the experience was nice, the service was wonderful, and most importantly, that chicken was absolutely phenomenal. We came for an 8-piece order of Cheesy Blast Chicken and left already talking about coming back. That alone says everything. If you're anywhere near downtown Phoenix and you're thinking about trying bb.q Chicken, DO IT. The Cheesy Blast Chicken was absolutely outstanding, and the service made the whole experience even better. Five stars without hesitation. The chicken was outstanding, the service was outstanding, and the girl at the window last night had a personality that was truly one of one. We WILL be back!

I came in on a weekday afternoon for a lunch pick-me-up and there seemed to be only one staff member working, and I was the only one in line. I was a little surprised to find out it was actually attached to a Chevron, as I'm not quite sure what the dine-in situation is like. The wait was a little bit (10-15 mins), but I was kind of expecting that since it's not really a typical fast food restaurant, from what I know. I got the 6 piece honey garlic boneless meal with rice and a soda, and the tteokbokki to go. The flavors are all spot on, exactly the same as all the other locations I have been to, and really impressive for a fast-casual Korean spot. My only thing is that their chicken portions are quite small compared to the other ones, like almost half the size for the same price. That did throw me off a little bit, but it was overall a great meal and there aren't any Korean spots in the area so I'm okay with overlooking it. I'll have to come back and see if the portions were a one-time thing or if that is the typical case at this location. But in a pinch, this definitely hit the spot and quenched my craving for Korean food!

When I saw the restaurant was empty, I admittedly had that momentary feeling you sometimes get walking into places later in the evening, wondering if the staff will be annoyed you're coming in close to closing or if the food quality won't be as good. He served me fresh chicken, and the meal was delicious. More importantly, he made me feel welcome. It never felt like I was inconveniencing anyone by coming in later in the evening. Great food, great service, and exactly the kind of hospitality that keeps people coming back. I'll definitely stop in again the next time I'm in town!

Looking for an easy option in Cityscape I came across Mo'Bettahs…read more This is a counter order establishment that is fairly simple overall - sides of veggies, mac salas, or rice, with protein options of chicken, steak, or shrimp tempura. The chicken has some variation for different flavor profiles or katsu vs grilled. The part which threw me off was the amount of food per size. The owner came out and gave us the run down, with the largest size being 1lb of meat, but the smaller two sizes did not register for me until I ordered the medium and realized it might be better to split as some then and some leftovers. The meat itself is very good and I could see myself just getting a box of the meat with no sides. The cuts are well grilled and/or fried. I wouldn't be shocked if those were the plated highlights at a higher end restaurant, so I will definitely be back for more and to try the non chicken options. The sides were nothing out of the ordinary. I did really like the Mac salad, but it was a bit heavy with all the meat I ate. The veggies and rice were standard. At about $16 or $17 per medium box this price was more than fair in my mind.. I am hoping Mo'Bettahs is in Cityscape and expands. My only recommendations which would put this below a 5 is that the signs explaining how to order were a bit unclear. The walk up side shows potential bowl combinations, and then there is another side which has the pick your owwn menu. I was a bit confused when ordering and more direct and earlier would have been helpful. I can see that being a challenge if they get busy and there a multiple new customers in line. Again, I will be back. This is my new choice over Chipotle and Cava.
