Service was good, but food was just okay. Sambal Sambal with chicken ($15.50)- marked "spicy" but it was not spicy at all. It was a mix of big pieces of chicken and vegetables (onion, eggplant, basil, zucchini, red pepper). The portion of chicken was relatively large in comparison to the entire dish, but there really wasn't anything special about the dish. It definitely tastes a lot like the Thai dish pad kee mao due to the basil. Wok-Glazed Ginger with chicken ($15.50)- consists of caramelized onions, mushroom, string bean, bell pepper. This tastes more like your typical Chinese take-out. I personally didn't really like this dish because it was more on the sweeter side. Golden Dragon Roll (14.00): consists of spicy tuna, avocado, crunch, sliced eel, and wasabi tobiko sprinkled on top. I would give this roll a 3.5/5- not incredibly delicious but doesn't taste bad- just average. I really despise wasabi but I didn't taste any wasabi in this! Interior: PLENTLY of seating, and the wall waterfall by the bar looks really pretty! Service was pretty good and my waiter was super nice and gave us some recommendations, however, I do not see myself coming back here. read more

Stop by for a lunch. This is so far the best fusion restaurant that impressed me. 5 jumbo shrimp, cooked with long green bean, squash, mushroom etc. A very thoughtful combination bring good flavor. Not just onion and broccoli which most other restaurants do. Served with both white and brown rice. Rice was moist, soft and sticky with very good texture. Creative deco with palm tree. At this frozen -10 degrees weather, bring you warm feeling of long beach California. A clever idea. Really Good food. Reasonable price with such quality food. People are super friendly and attentively. Definitely come back again soon. read more

Wild Ginger - Asian Fusion Near Me - Great Neck, New York

I had really low expectations of this place. Wild Ginger looks and sounds like what a Chinese restaurant would be if it was opened by Westerners who think they know what Chinese food is. Truth be told, this is a "fusion" restaurant but the majority of the menu is Chinese inspired or based. Good thing food always trumps what your eyes see. The menu is expansive and is mostly a modern spin on classic Americanized Chinese food (General Tso' chicken, etc.). Food was really tasty (surprisingly) and excellently prepared. Flavors were well balanced and control of the level of oil was very well done for a Chinese menu. Eggplant and tofu in garlic sauce was very tasty. Lemongrass shrimp was flavorful with excellent array of vegetables mixed in. General Tso's chicken was crispy and well balanced. Service was good and prices are decent considering the size of the portions (most are for sharing). Thumbs up and a solid 3.5 stars. read more

This is one of my family's go to restaurants for Asian fusion for years. However, last evening chef had to be a replacement. Food was pretty bad: spare ribs grease and flavorless, chicken wraps were too overwhelming, chicken satai over cooked and so was the chicken in the chow fun, basil beef too much basil . Hopefully, it was just an off day but will think twice before going back. Sad. read more

Wild Ginger - Bass Fish with white rice and vegetables - Asian Fusion Near Me - Great Neck, New York

I have been here with my friend and was seated immediately. There were few customers, and it doesn't seem to be busy. It took some time to take an order because only one waiter was managing the hall. I have asked him if he is the only waiter, and yeah, he was. He told me that he also makes drinks and doing all other stuff besides taking orders. He seems hectic seeing the sweats on his forehead. He runs the hall in order to keep up with customer's demands and satisfaction; I didn't really bother him at all. We have ordered Pad Thai and Flank Steak Basil dish, and it was delicious. The service was spectacular and friendly, but I can point out that the service is slow due to the pandemic. The waiter told me they usually (pre-pandemic) have 4-6 waiters with a food runner and a bartender. So you have to be really patient to get service here. Also, They don't have desserts due to pandemics. I will come here again if I have another chance to travel to Great Neck area. TL;DR The food was delicious, and our waiter and the host were very nice. The service is slow due to only one person managing the hall. They don't carry desserts due to pandemics. read more

I have to preface this by saying I'm not a fan of Asian fusion restaurants. IMHO, the more cuisines involved, the more mediocre the result. My wife and kids are very fond of this type of restaurant, so I have visited a lot of them. We went to the Bronxville version of Wild Ginger a few times pre-Yelp. Even my family got tired of the food there. We went last night with a mixed group of relatives, in an attempt to please everyone. The room is nice enough. The seating is very tight- there's no reason for this outside of Manhattan. The service was OK. Appetizers included sesame noodles that were too sweet and very fatty, very sweet spare ribs. The main courses varied between blah and OK. The sushi was OK, and better than I remembered it. The spicy tuna and salmon rolls both looked and tasted the same- they could just as well have been spicy catfish rolls. The other sushi rolls were good. The various wok-based dishes were so-so, very oily and over-seasoned. We all wound up drinking like fish when we got home. If you want Chinese food, go to a Chinese restaurant. If you want sushi, go to a Japanese restaurant. When you try to please everybody, you wind up pleasing nobody. read more

So many great options. Good place to choose if you have group of people that want different things. They have a dish for everyone. I order the tom yum soup and the lobster crab salad. Omgosh the tom yum was absolutely delicious. I have to say the best I've had and my favorite spot for this soup. Wish I could get a larger size of this so yummy. The lobster salad was good and I actually was able to split it with my boyfriend. It's a good size with lots of lobster and crab meat. We also had a seafood dish. Definitely a very tasty meal. We devoured the seafood dish so quickly so was unable to take pictures. The place is a great size and has a nice clean bathroom. They share a parking lot with other stores so it does get busy at times but we were able to find a parking. read more

Food was dry food was cold good was just horrible will never order anything again I paid 30 for nothing no thank you wild ginger

I literally got everyone in my old office to order from here ALL the time. If one of the bosses were treating us, I always ordered from this spot. Your girl was the Asian thai food plug. I ordered my usually order was a pad thai (it was sometimes a hit and at times a miss honestly). I have heard that the rolls are delicious and curries are pretty good too. read more

Listen ive been coming to wild ginger for about 3 years now. The location at Rockville center is much better . If i cant get there I go to the one in great neck which is much different. I ordered sesame chicken and beef lo mein. I was eating my lunch in my car and came across a bandaid n I discovered it whilst eating the chicken . I was not going to post anything but im still nauseous just thinking about that i might have ate some one elses blood. Ive realized that day when comjng in the restaurant my throat felt itchy and i kept coughing a lot as if i couldnt breathe . This place smelt of mold as well. When i confronted the cashier that said their is no manager managing the restaurant and they dont have a manager she only gave me half of my money back and offered me free food . I wanted all my money back . I threw up when i got home . She didnt give me all my money until i told her i was going to report this . Anyway worst experience at a restaurant ever . Worse then fast food . I dont think ill be eating out agin for a very long time. read more

Came here for a work lunch and was not disappointed. The appetizers were enough for 4 of us to share - great dumplings. We all enjoyed our entrees. I had the general tso's chicken, all white meat it was fantastic! We also ordered the fried rice to share which was great. The staff is friendly and accommodating very attentive !! Also they brew tea in very cool little tea pots, i had the green tea which was great. I will definitely be back as the cocktail menu looked fabulous! read more

They take forever. Put me on hold for 7 minutes when I could've been ordering from somewhere else

Here, the service was fairly quick but the food was only mediocre. I tried the Cold Sesame Noodle, chicken dumplings, Thai summer rice, and General Tso's chicken. The Cold Sesame noodle was good in taste, but too salty. The chicken dumplings were very dry and the worst of the four. Thai summer rice had a mix of pork, chicken, and shrimp which was nice but it was not the best fried rice I've tried. The best one was General Tso's chicken - it wasn't too salty or too sweet & it was exactly what I was looking for. Really, all my 3 stars go to this dish and the kind server who was attentive and friendly. I don't think I want to come back, but I do want to try the sushi options here! read more

Went to wild ginger about a week ago, it was a party of 10 so we made reservations before hand but as soon as we got there we were seated so that was great. We had questions about the food portions and the waiter was glad to answer all the questions we had. We ordered appetizers and all were really good, especially the crab cakes and chicken wraps. For the main course, we ordered all different dishes so it was nice that we were able to try different things and all the food was deliciousssss, no complaints on anything concerning food My one complaint was that our table wasn't set up properly , so we had to keep asking for utensils and napkins but other then that i had a great experience, food was delicious , service was great, i would def come back read more

I was looking for a restaurant that would host my sister's bridal shower, that would go with the theme we chose. I've been to Wild Ginger before and enjoyed it in the past but I needed to write a review for the excellent service and food we received this past weekend. Justin helped me create a menu for my guests, and we had appetizers, noodles and main entrees that were so delicious my guests even took some to go! The ambiance is also perfect, with a nice skylight room, we went for lunch and the sun gave the room perfect light. They have a few outdoor seats as well. I also commend the caring and attentive staff Justin had for my shower- they went above and beyond to make sure we were all taken care of. Thank you Justin and staff for an incredible experience! I will be coming back, and my guests will be too!! read more

So, I feel like I'm a pretty fair yelper but something is very disturbing to me. About a year ago I wrote a review about this restaurant and it wasn't very flattering. Super detailed. The only reason I decided to look up my review is because a friend just invited me to dinner there today and I wanted to share my experience with her. Unfortunately, yelp has since removed my review. I know the manager was pissed about it and they invited me back to "make it up" to me but I declined. Could they have gotten yelp to do what they claim they don't? Things that make you go "hmmmmmmm" What I remember: The service was ridiculously slow and the food was okay. It took forever for our server to come back with the bill and we had to actually chase other servers down to get to-go boxes. We paid the bill at the podium since she was nowhere in sight. Our server finally reappeared like a bat out of hell and insisted that she bag my food instead of bringing the bag to me (my husband hated his food so much he decided to leave it). I pressed down on the metal handle on my to-go boxes as to seal them shut. The next day as I removed the containers from the bag they were in, I noticed that my metal handles were not pressed in as I had given it to her. Please tell me what the reason could be for her opening up my food before bagging it? Smh. Also, I remember the bathroom being filthy with no soap for me to wash my hands. How are the employees washing their hands? Hmmmmmm. read more

He had the most important date of his life here. The staff gave her the best Singapore May Fun I don't know if it is still on the menu.that was b4 he became a rock star. LETS GET WILD! So Wild Ginger is a chain of restaurants and I'm very familiar with them since my dad worked with them in his business of japanese imports and exports. He spoke highly of their owner so i wanted to give them a try. Came in here and was amazed with their decor and plates. Just brilliant! They must have a great interior designer! Now let's talk food. They do an asian fusion with thai, japanese and chinese dishes. The food is great and the portions are perfect. I've just been to so many thai food places that I couldn't give them a five star rating. The food didn't wow me. It was great but not memorable. I want to be amazed with my food as I love tasting and trying everything. So Wild Ginger, if you can get more WILD, I will give you 5 stars. I'll still be coming here to eat because I love you and support my local businesses. read more

I came here for dinner with a party of 10 and every single one of us left happy and stuffed! If you like seafood in particular, you will love this place. This has to be one of my favorite Thai food places in the neighborhood. Quick and reliable service and delicious food. W

I have been going to this location for a few years now and it's always a pleasure to come back. The restaurant is pretty big and perfect for both small and medium groups (maybe up to like 10 people?) They have a large array of food options (appetizers, combos, lunch specials, noodles, fried rice, and dessert!) Coming from queens, I would say the price is slightly higher than what I'm used to and the portion size is enough for a single hungry person (not really enough to share between 2 people). My friend and I ordered 2 items that cost ~$17 each and it was a perfect amount for the two of us. Both came with a small bowl of rice (either white or brown rice) We also ordered a shrimp and pork dumpling appetizer, which was about $7 for 6 pieces (tasty, but not worth it honestly) The waiters/ waitresses are always nice and do come by to fill up your water cup or ask if everything is okay. I really like how there's a large parking lot since this restaurant is located in a mini shopping center (a constant struggle for non-long islanders) I will continue to come back here, but not often because of the price. read more

One of my favorite restaurants! The food is always super delicious. This is actually my boyfriends all time favorite restaurant in the neighborhood. He's always bugging me to go weekly. My favorite appetizer is the lettuce wraps. Cooked with peppers onions fresh herbs and ground chicken. Paired with a couple big pieces of fresh lettuce on the side.. so good! The best part is the sauce they give you to lather on... mmmmmmm! I ALWAYS get the chicken sambal sambal. It is to die for! It's chicken cooked in some kind of red curry sauce with yucca, eggplant, and veggies. Sort of like a spicy stir fry! I'm obsessed. It is served in a crunchy chip bowl (best way to describe it) the chip bowl sucks up all the extra juices and it's the best part of the dish at the end! My boyfriend always gets the sushi! So fresh... unlike other joints in the area. I'm not a sushi person but it's pretty damn good here. The service is always quick and friendly. You gotta check this place out! read more

Quite mediocre. I have been here a number of times with work colleagues. Its an ok place to go to to have drinks after work, but don't get your hopes up about the food. I have tried a number of different dishes here: Garlic Shrimp - reasonable taste (5 shrimp) mostly onions Sea bass - no texture to speak of, sauce was ok seafood salad - seems like it came prepackaged dim sum platter - seems like it was frozen dumplings spring rolls (really egg rolls) - oily and soggy on the inside Fried dumplings - tasted good, but hard to screw up ginger chicken - tasted alright compared to the rest chicken pad thai - ok, but no authentic taste beef pad thai - same as above Overall this place is a big disappointment if you come here for the food. There is a lot of room for improvement. I don't have much else to say. Don't waste your money. If you are hungry go to the chipotle next door (though that's not particularly good either). This shopping center could really use some better options. read more

Fell in love with this restaurant last night. Has an awesome city vibe to it, so it's like you're stepping out of Great Neck for a moment. Great for family, friends, or dates. The décor is beautiful. The space is huge. The service was solid. And the food did not disappoint. I got the Chilean sea bass, and it may have been the best I've ever had. Melted in my mouth. Came with bok choy and rice. Also, you HAVE to get the Vietnamese salad. It's out of this world. I tried a scallops dish and a shrimp dish, and they were delicious and fresh. Our group ordered the mango bomba and green tea ice cream for dessert, and they were the perfect ending to a lovely dinner. read more

My secret santa gave me a gift certificate to wild ginger, I was kind of hesistant to go because of the crappy reviews. Overall the food was meh, service was attentive. My boyfriend and I came during lunch time and the lunch menu is very reasonable, dinner not so much. We started off with a spicy tuna roll...tasted like supermarket sushi, the rice was really hard and the fish did not taste fresh. Pass on the sushi. I ordered a hot and sour soup which was pretty good, but extremely salty and oily. Also ordered the thai coconut curry chicken, came with brown and white rice. Big portion for 10 bucks. Once again, it was soooooo salty, kinda hard to enjoy to the food when your chugging water every two minutes. Boyfriend ordered the grilled sesame crusted salmon. He liked it but also said it was way too salty. I think I'll give this place one more shot. read more

Best Thai Food I've had since returning from the west coast. Decently priced, service was nice and a simple menu. I ordered the Beef Satay (yummy) and Pad Thai (also yummy). Great for any occasion. I come here for birthdays, causal weekdays, weekend date nights with the wife, you name it. You can take your time here and never feel rushed and relax, or if you want to be in and out quickly, you could do that too. Want sushi? Awesome sushi (especially spicy crunchy roll). Want duck? Get any number of dishes, all great. Want thai? Chicken pad thai to die for. Service varies. Some servers are great and make it such a pleasant experience. Some servers are... cold. The one gentleman with the pony tail (forgot his name) is THE best server. Nice and efficient. Prices are reasonable for the area. Parking lot is mayhem however, but nothing the restaurant can do about it. read more

For the most part I really like wild ginger. Ive tried the duck and the chicken and the thing that comes in a bird's nest looking thingamajig and dont remember having issue with any of them. What stands out to me in memory is the seared tuna and soba dish which is fantabulistic. it is very light and it is very tasty a great combination if i do say so myself. Some of the appetizers are meh as they seem like an afterthough and a ripoff of chinese dimsum but whatever. +1 for the giant glass partition with water flowing over it. Stuff like that always amaze me and force me to touch it to make sure its real. Def worth trying! read more

This restaurant is overpriced and overrated. I adopt an "expect nothing, experience everything" kind of attitude when it comes to food (and life in general). I was ecstatic to learn about an Asian Fusion restaurant that was a mere ten minute drive away from my home. In a flash, I got up out of my man-cave, warmed up the bat mobile, and left a note at the dining table informing my mother of my whereabouts. Onto the food! When I see curry on the menu, it usually means trouble. Trouble for my intestines. Yolo. I love green curry. I love beef. Sometimes I like beef in my green curry. Today was that kind of day. Unfortunately, I was served some of the blandest tasting curry that has ever had the opportunity to grace a pair of luscious lips like mine. To add insult to injury, the bamboo shoots were undercooked causing a severe hypoglycemic reaction. No bueno. Not in my wildest, hypoglycemic-induced nightmares would I recommend this restaurant to anyone I consider a loved one. To the fine people of Great Neck who consider this restaurant a local gem, ya'll need to get out more. read more

Nestled in the heart of a shopping plaza, Wild Ginger is a surprisingly great find. Normally, I wrinkle my brow at the thought of Asian Fusion, but Wild Ginger gets it done right. Dishes are bursting with flavor, perfectly salted, and served in generous portions. Affordable lunch options ranging from $9-12 won't leave your wallet empty. Rice is available in either white or brown, for those that cry foul for the processed kind. My absolute favorite lunch entree is the "Mango Sauce Special" with tofu and brown rice. Tofu is crispy and served with freshly sliced mangos and jicama, all covered with a slightly sweet and spicy sauce. Also, word on the street from all my coworkers, is that's the best special on the entire menu! Decor is beautiful, interior is brightly lit and sunny, service is great... there's no reason not to come here! read more

Where can I get a decent panang on the north shore of long island? Why can't I find it? WHY do I live here? Wild ginger is strip-mall thai fusion.... which translates most often to; "we weren't that good at making one cuisine, so why not try 3?!!" Despite it being a thai place mainly, there isn't a single good coconut curry on the menu? But then there's redeeming things like the szechuan dumplings in peanut creme. Dumplings?? in PEANUT CREME?? This could be the appetizer equivalent of heroin. Thankyou thai ginger... I will long for you in the middle of the night and in the middle of completely unrelated conversations. If you happen to be ordering here for delivery, be careful with some of the dishes; many dishes die in a steaming delivery hell. The food here truly is hit or miss, with some dishes being great, and some just being confused and so-so, but great thai food is a hard commodity to come by on the north shore.... thus wild ginger survives. read more
