We came here for a party for my mother in law. We were tucked away in a corner so it was like we had a private room. I was sad when harvest buffet closed years ago so I never tried this spot. I wish I had tried it sooner because everything we had on this multi-course meal was amazing. Also service from Henry was amazing as well. The standouts of the meal for me was the duck, steak, and lobster.
I found this business looking for a place to take my husband for his birthday. The decor is really nice, the bar is on the right when you walk in, the tables are centered in the middle and a little close together. The tables for larger parties are on the outside. We ordered the soup for two which was really good with shrimp, chicken and various other stuff in a tasty broth. Appetizers: Shrimp toast which I didn't care for, no taste of shrimp anywhere Salt n pepper Calamari was good and not chewy Entree: Shrimp n Lobster Sauce was really good and taste fresh Pork Tenderloin, it was fried and had a good flavored sauce but, the pork was so thin , you didn't taste pork. Mongolian Beef was a little bland The service was on point
We were in the area again and made sure to stop in for another great meal. Lots of gluten free options. Top notch service. Wish we lived closer!
1/11/25. Generally, I am leery of Asian fusion places but I have to say I was quite happy here! The inside is very modern with a large bar. Irma was a friendly attentive bartender. However, it should be noted that every drink is EXACTLY measured so the drinks are very weak, imo. The sushi (clam, fluke, tuna and scallop) ordered was extremely fresh. The branzino (with ginger and scallion sauce) and crunchy seafood fried rice were very tasty. Not oily at all! Ended with really good pistachio ice cream. Just wish it was the pistachio ice cream with cherries that some Asian places have. I'd def return.
Moonstone had a solid lunch menu! For the price, you definitely get a quality meal with attentive service. Since parking can be difficult around the area, it was nice that there were plenty of spots in their parking lot. I started off with a spicy tuna roll and the seafood tasted fresh. For my entree, I got the Moonstone Three Treasures and was impressed with the portion size. It came with a lot of meat and vegetables. The sauce was just a bit too heavy/salty for me but overall it is a good place for a more upscale meal. I would totally return to try their dinner menu!
We had dinner with my parents at this upscale modern Chinese restaurant that used to be East Buffet. The ambiance was a much elevated version of what the buffet set looked like. Prices were pretty high. However, it was worth it. We ordered a bunch of dishes. My husband ordered the four course meal, which was $65, only served Monday thru Thursday. The prix fixe menu had stipulations where sharing was not allowed, but that was impossible because portions were huge except for the key lime pie. My husband enjoyed the wonton soup, scallion pancakes, salmon teriyaki, and key lime pie. The sauce of the salmon teriyaki was great. Salmon teriyaki, key lime pie, and scallion pancake are highly recommended. My dad and I shared the half Peking duck. This dish was served tableside as my dad calls it Hong Kong style from the crepe to the duck preparation and presentation. My mom ordered the salmon with mushroom sauce, which was standard. I also ordered the shrimp and walnut, and omg, the shrimp was HUGE. This dish is worth ordering, too. I'll definitely be back to explore the 4-course prix fixe menu.
Chinese restaurants around NYC/surrounding suburbs are everywhere, but it's hard to find ones that are of a high caliber. So when you do, it's a joyous occasion. Enter Moonstone, a newer Chinese restaurant (opened within the last 2-3 years). Technically in Queens, it sits on northern boulevard just on the border of great neck. Over the last year, we ordered take out 8-10 times. There was not a single time where the experience wasn't great. From top to bottom, it's high quality Chinese food that rivals any high end Chinese spot (Mr Chows, Shun Lee, Hunan Taste etc). Whatever appetizer you want, from their egg rolls to soups to ribs, they're top notch. Their mains are all excellent and the ingredients are noticeably better than a typical Chinese place (i.e. their beef is actually beef, their chicken resembles real white meat chicken, their shrimp seems fresh and juicier than the norm, etc). If you're ordering take out, you're in for an additional treat in that their to-go operation is as good as it gets. Walk in and you will see a table of 10+ to-go bags, neatly packaged and organized with an attentive team servicing to go patrons. Many may not care about this detail, but attention to the little things matters, and opening a to-go order that is thoughtfully packaged and always perfect, says a lot about a restaurants commitment to excellence. Last night we ate there for the first time, which prompted this review. The restaurant itself is upscale, clean and offers good vibes. In short -- not what you'd expect from a typical Chinese restaurant. They've actually focused on ambiance and created a really nice environment to dine. The service is great too -- really kind and attentive staff. Overall, there really is not a single thing I'd change about this place. Unexpectedly Amazing! Came here to celebrate Mother's Day with my family and it was absolutely an amazing experience. The ambience was exquisite! The staff here was extremely well attentive, friendly and always happy to aid us in our needs. The drinks are delicious, with the food being tasty! I will say, the food is served in very large portions that came be shared with 2 people. We did not know that and ended up having take aways! But we thoroughly enjoyed our dinner and experience! Mom loved it! Will return!
Great local restaurant with an extensive menu, waiter was very friendly and knowledgeable. We tried the rock shrimp, sushi rolls, lamb chops, Mongolian beef, & lo mein. Everything was delicious, shareable portions. Beautiful decor, perfect for date night. We had a reservation but didn't seem necessary, was seated right away. Parking lot available.
A little pricy but fabulous Asian fusion food. Elegant indoor space and great attentive service. I thoroughly enjoyed the best hot and sour soup I have ever tasted, which was vegetarian. The spicy scallop dish was tender and scrumptious. Menu is very diverse.
Moonstone is a classy and really, really good Asian fusion restaurant serving up delicious fare on the Nassau Queens border. This was the perfect venue to celebrate my dear friend Rich's birthday. The immediate reaction upon entry and seeing the decor and lighting was Wow! That stayed with us as the service from Alex and Henry was outstanding - very attentive, kept bringing us hot and I mean fresh and hot pots of the gorgeous tea; gave us time to peruse the big menu and then picked up dishes in seconds. Very professional and courteous. The table settings and dishes were exquisite. The food was divine. The House special Wonton soup was loaded and so flavorful. ( photo) . The entrees - the chicken teriyaki and the gluten free ( lots of options) shrimp were delicious. The accompanying bowl of brown rice was really good. This was a very small part of a very extensive menu featuring sushi, special rollls, Chef specials and gluten and kid friendly selections. Something for everyone! The atmosphere was relaxing. There was a big wedding party in the center of the restaurant and it made everything more festive and fun and we still enjoyed our conversation just 30 feet from this group. It came to $154 for the 3 of us for a wonderful and ample lunch( leftovers) plus tip. Absolutely worth it for this quality and excellent service. Moonstone has a private parking lot to the west of the structure allowing for a stress free visit in this busy area. 5 Stars to the Moon( stone) and back! Loved it! read more
Just had dinner at Moonstone again tonight. We've been coming here regularly, almost every week, and it's always a pleasure. The restaurant has crisp white tablecloths, and the bathroom is always spotless and well maintained. It's a comfortable and inviting place to enjoy a nice dinner. The entire staff has always been attentive, courteous, and welcoming. Tonight, we had Johnny, Alex, and Miki, who worked very well together. Everything flowed seamlessly, and they made us feel truly valued and well taken care of. The food is consistently good, as are the drinks. Tonight, we shared a House Mule, which was refreshing, delicious, and a great way to start our meal. For dinner, I had the Crunchy Seafood Fried Rice without XO sauce and the Buddha's Claypot, a vegetable dish. Hubby had the General Tso Chicken. All three dishes were flavorful, satisfying, and well prepared. I even had some of the fried rice left over to take home for tomorrow! Once again, we left happy. That's exactly why we keep coming back to Moonstone. read more

My wife and I got the chance to check out Moonstone Modern Asian and Bar. And I have to say it e did not disappoint. We started with the Egg Drop Wonton Soup which was delicious. For dinner we enjoyed some fried rice, General Tao Chicken, and a Rocky Road Sushi roll. The portions were quite generous and the prices were fair. The restaurant itself is lovely, featuring a modern vibe with plenty of seating and bar. read more

I order from Moonstone and request delivery. The order is generally wrong and it takes a full hour at minimum to get your order. They require $45 minimum to get delivery. You spending ENOUGH money why can't moonstone get your food right and under 30 minutes. Ridiculous and disappointing read more

Dined in for a group of 5 on day before Thanksgiving. Place was half empty, spacious, nicely designed. We ordered - Spicy edamame Rock shrimp tempura Pork Shumai Chicken Shumai Hot & sour soup Beef short ribs Lobster+shrimp wonton Cucumber roll Mango shrimp roll Fried black bass While Beijing duck Vegetable fried rice Shrimp lo mein Thai chicken fried rice Beef chow mein Dranks - Ozeki Sake Lychee martini Volcano blast Emperor's mojito Our waiter Eric was a disappointment. His friendliness was rough around the edges, borderline aggressive. Not much help when asked to reccomend items off the menu, constantly walked away while asking questions and/or taking down orders. Quickly leaving and walking by as if thsy were full house or short staffed (place was half empty and staff everywhere). Anyways, food was okay. Nothing special. Beef ribs, lobster&shrimp wonton, fried black sea bass are worth noting. Drinks were fine. Price to taste ratio is disappointing - mediocre taste for Steakhouse price. Whole duck is better at Flushing, Queens and much cheaper. After all, it is Great Neck. read more
How did I previously give Moonstone only 4 stars and not 5? It is truly fine dining...at its finest. Tonight, for a belated birthday celebration for my dad, we ordered some of our usual (pan fried noodles and yang chow fried rice), and we also tried some dishes for the first time: crispy lemon chicken and tangerine scallops. Boy, am I glad we decided to deviate a bit from our norm, because both of these dishes were distinctly, lightly citrusy...and delicious! We've been missing out! The sauce for the crispy lemon chicken complemented the chicken very nicely: it was not tart or sour but rather light and pleasant in its citrus flavor. Really, these two dishes just married fruity and meaty so perfectly! As I recall from previous visits, the servers were very courteous and attentive. Decor and setup of the restaurant is very classy, and the restaurant is also nice and clean. The menu is extensive, with unique dishes categorized - and it's actually a shame that we hadn't ventured off to try new dishes until tonight! I recommend going for something that sounds interesting, bc Moonstone has yet to disappoint (and I doubt it will!). read more

Came on New Years Eve with my friend Carol. We had the wonton egg drop soup and then we shared the kung pao chicken and the mushrooms dish with bok choy. Both were delicious. Best part was the service. Waitress was super nice and she did not rush us out of there. She kept saying take as kind as you like to talk. We were here for the first time and really enjoyed the ambiance! read more

Came here for Mother's Day dinner and had the best time. The staff were super cool and funny. The food came out family style and we didn't even realize. We definitely could've shared our entrees, but we all took doggy bags to go which isn't an issue. The roast pork is absolutely my favorite thing we ordered. So juicy and flavorful. Every dish was amazing though. I love that they give fried wonton skins as a free nibble. It's cute and a bit upscale inside. Better to overdress than underdress I say! read more

Have been here a few times now and have to say the food is just delicious! The perfect neighbourhood spot with classic and modern Chinese/Japanese eats! I came in for a taste test while I was looking for venues for my sons first birthday and was just blown away by how beautiful the restaurant is. It's modern, chic, and a little edgy, all while being spacious and welcoming thanks to the incredible staff! The dishes I've tried so far are the crispy eggplant, hot and sour soup, dim sum platter, crispy prawn balls, avocado sushi, chicken clay pot, prawn Szechuan, Thai chicken curry, and the cheesecake. I don't think I've had a thing I haven't liked!!! The crispy eggplant was sweet, spicy, and perfectly textured, especially with the crispy peanuts thrown in! The prawn balls, so juicy and flavourful, and so so filling! They were just massive! The dim sum platter was ok, I've had better but all in all a small variety of dimsum options that will do the trick if you're in a pinch. The chicken clay pot was so so innovative, LOVED this dish the most, the flavours were so interesting, a classic Chinese dish, with a basil twist! The Thai chicken curry and prawn Szechuan I had during my most recent trip and they were absolute perfection - the only thing that made the meal even more epic was the INCREDIBLE cheesecake - which they said was made in house! You'd think there was a baker in the back making these incredible cheesecakes fresh!!!!! So unexpected but a welcome surprise! Looking forward to coming back again:.. and again!!!! I understand why this place has such great reviews. It is extremely cozy, yet roomy inside. The staff is very kind, inviting, and attentive. The menu has so many different options, it's extremely hard to choose what to have. The food and drinks were brought out extremely quickly. The food was hot and fresh. When leaving they faced our leftovers very neatly. The ice cream hit the spot after dinner. A must try. I will definitely be back. read more

There are no private rooms for families, but I have seen them set up areas for large parties before. It is semi-private.
Do I need to make a reservation for this Saturday before Mother's Day?
