We tried the Pad Thai and Masamun curry for dinner with an eel and avocado roll as our appetizer. Everything was fantastic and served quickly and with good presentation. I go at least twice a week, it's becoming an addiction. I always get the shrimp tempura without the caviar and the Tiffany roll with extra spicy Mayo on the side. I think about this food all the time and can undoubtedly tell you that it is my favorite. The service is hit or miss though, one server is kinda rude every time I come in. She'll be nice to whoever I come in with though which is weird. Whatever though the food is 100% worth it. 1000/10 definitely recommend. WORST SERVICE I'VE EVER HAD! We decided to stop by and get to go after a long day of hiking and the waitress that greeted us didn't seem so happy about that. When it's time for us to pay, she threw a pen on the counter for my husband to sign the receipt with, snatched the receipt off the counter with aggression, and said "shit" while storming off when I asked for a side of sauce. Being a sushi lover, I can say that I know what GOOD sushi is. Although I've heard from many in the area that Wegmans is a great place to get sushi, I must disagree. So I tried out this place as an alternative. I ordered a few rolls that had the spicy mayo, and they were just ok. It's a step up from Wegmans, but I'm not going to lie- they don't have spectacular sushi. The Singapore noodles were actually quite good, and I usually don't even like this dish at other restaurants. The miso soup and salad were great. I would definitely come back to this place to satisfy a sushi craving, but it's not the best food I've had. Their other dishes looked pretty good - I might try those out next time. I also realize that I might be too harsh of a critic about this place and need to lower my sushi standards as I don't necessarily live anywhere close to the ocean. read more

I would not say, from a Japanese point of view, their Japanese dishes are authentic taste, but knowing that this is not a Japanese owned restaurant, they are tasty and fresh. I ordered Oyster Fry, and I wished the Japanese tonkatsu sauce came with it, instead of Thai roll sauce. The source for the Sushi roll (eel and cucumber) was strange. (Wegmans' sauce is authentic) However, Pad Thai was good, not the best I had, but it hit the spot. The server, a young lady, was efficient and pleasant. The food arrived within five minute. Being here for the first time, I cannot comen up with a comprehensive review, but I suspect Thai and Chinese dishes will be great in this place. As for Japanese dishes, I would recommend they learn from some prominent Japanese chefs who reside in Corning. I will continue to hope for the best Japanese restaurant to come in this town. While staying in town for work, I saw the reviews for Wild Ginger and decided on this spot for dinner. Its located on a quaint street full of businesses and restaurants. Street parking was easy to find. Upon my arrival, I was instantly greeted and sat even though they were rather busy. I selected the filet mignon (medium) and shrimp hibachi dinner that came with soup, salad and fried rice. The filet was done perfectly and was tender in every bite. The veggies were crisp with just enough sauce for a good flavor. The rice was a bit dry and bland so I focused on everything else on my plate. Service was good and efficient. This is my go-to easy Chinese/sushi place in the Corning-Painted Post area. I have been multiple times and there has not been a time where I thought I would not go back. My only issue with here? It can be super quiet when no one else is around, like eerily quiet and it can be uncomfortable. I wish they had some sort of music on in the background, I would even take elevator music. It is so quiet to the point where we have put music on our phone and set it on the table very low so it was somewhat better. Now the food is what you really want to know... - Shrimp and broccoli is my go to meal here. Yes, this veg sneaks in her shrimp every so often (don't judge me). I like it, good big pieces of shrimp, lots of rice, and perfectly cooked broccoli. Do I add a little bit of salt? Probably. - Vegetable Chow Fun noodles were great, I ordered this recently on a whim and I really enjoyed the flavor and the portions! Great choice. - Vegetable hibachi is okay, not my favorite here and I don't think I would recommend this one. It's not terrible but I think it lacks the flavor I am used to from other places. - Sushi is good, I love the veggie rolls and the shrimp tempura. I can't judge any others but friends have seemed to really enjoy it. Overall, I like this place and it's a good place for families, couple, and even alone. The people are nice and it is very clean. Finding a place for dinner on a Monday night in Corning NY is like Mission Impossible. Luckily for us someone recommended Wild Ginger. It is a nice small restaurant. It was a rainy night too and the roof was leaking in the back by the bathrooms so buckets were everywhere in the back. However the restaurant was full and for good reason. My girlfriend had the curry shrimp which she said was delicious. I had the three sushi roll combo where you get to choose which three from a long list. I added one more yellow tail roll but three probably was enough. The sushi was excellent. I had a choice of soup or salad with it and enjoyed the small ginger dressed salad. This is a great little small casual restaurant for not just Monday nights. read more

We went to Corning to celebrate my daughters 20th birthday and her favorite food is sushi, so I hopped on Yelp and found Wild Ginger had good reviews. I made a reservation for 5 and a highchair for 1830 with a polite, but difficult to understand Asian woman. I thought I explained it was a celebration for us, but either she didn't understand or they don't do anything to celebrate birthdays. We arrived at 1815 and they had a table set for us. Well, it was a two top table pushed against the four top booth... A really weird set up when they had room for a 6 top table in the middle of the restaurant. We ordered Coke product soft drinks first and then they came back for the food order. My husband ordered beef negimaki, the birthday girl ordered salmon teriyaki and a TNT roll, my other daughter ordered a chicken teriyaki bento box, my oldest son ordered a salmon teriyaki bento box and sushi that was wrapped in shaved cucumber and I got Singapore Mei Fun. Three meals came with a salad, which had an excellent ginger dressing on it, and the miso soup was the best my son says he's ever had. The sushi was beautifully plated and delicious. (I don't eat sushi, but the kids raved about it). The bento boxes were gorgeous, and every bit consumed. My husband hates egg rolls, but couldn't steal enough bites from the spring rolls in the bento boxes. My Singapore Mei Fun was excellent, with enough spice to make my nose run and enough chicken and shrimp to be filling. Why am I only giving this four stars you might ask? Sounds like the food was great... Right? Well, it was offensively quiet. The kind of quiet that permeates the room when your mother accidentally calls your husband by your old boyfriends name at Christmas dinner. My youngest child is just shy of 2 years old and he was having a rough time waking up after the car ride. We had to leave with him because he was the only noise in the restaurant and we didn't want to ruin everyone's meal. We took turns going outside. And there was an older Asian man who stood next to the kitchen like some sort of bouncer, staring down customers. He never moved and I have no idea what was so important in that kitchen that needed to be guarded. The atmosphere was just weird. And let's talk about the celebration dinner... I love sushi. I could live off of sushi for the rest of my life. So when I heard that there was sushi at this new Asian fusion restaurant in town, of course I got excited and had to try it! I honestly had low expectations because all the other times that I've had sushi in Corning, the fish had never been fresh. Granted, I am used to eating sushi from some of the most amazing Japanese restaurants in Philly and I can imagine how difficult it must be to transport fresh fish to central New York. However, I was pleasantly surprised to find out that the sushi from Wild Ginger tasted fresh and was not fishy at all. I called-in to order the Salmon Lover roll for pick up. My order was ready within no longer than 10 minutes. I have no complaints about the service that I experienced. Looking at the menu online, there was a fairly large array of food items to choose from, varying from Chinese to Thai to Japanese dishes. A lot of these were reasonably priced, however, the sushi here is slightly overpriced. My Salmon Lover roll was roughly $13. Although it was tasty, it was a bit underwhelming for the price. The Salmon Lover roll has spicy salmon inside, topped with salmon on the outside--very simple. Back in Philly, I could get bigger, more complex rolls with more ingredients for the same price. Regardless, I would order sushi from here again if I ever need to satisfy another sushi craving. Terrible. Visiting family in the area and had high hopes based on other reviews. Maybe we went on an off night but from start to finish there were too many red flags to recommend anyone ever trying it again. We walked in and were not acknowledged by staff at all. There were no signs indicating whether they are a self-seating or a host-seating restaurant. (FYI it's self-seating). We ordered drinks and were brought the wrong flavor soda, only one glass of water for the two of us, and only one cup for the bottle of sake we ordered to share. These errors were quickly corrected by our server. Maybe things would get better... Nope. We ordered crab rangoon for appetizer. Dough was extremely under-fried and almost raw in certain spots. The filling was way too sweet. I didn't even eat a second one and I'm not one to pass up a crab rangoon, like, ever. What seemed like an eternity later we finally got our entrees: beef pad see ew and hibachi shrimp. I was famished but couldn't help but notice that the beef had a weird flavor and aftertaste that could have been seasoning...or could have been rotten meat. A few more bites and my SO agreed--something was not right. The hibachi shrimp was over cooked and the sauce was overly salty. We ended up taking a couple bites each and not wanting to risk eating any more. Decided to pay so we could go to the grocery store and make grilled cheese sandwiches at the hotel. From start to finish the service was SO SLOW and we were at Wild Ginger for two hours. Water was not refilled once. I looked around and many other tables were also waiting a long time for their food, and once they had their food most patrons did not look particularly pleased. Save your time and money. I am very picky when it comes to my sushi. The sushi was decent but I have had way better at other places. This is small restuarant in a small town. Not a whole lot of seating. There was not wait what so ever. When we ordered the sushi was in front of us in under 5 minutes which kind of scaried me. The prices I felt were a little over priced but from what I have seen in this town/city everything seems over price so that should be expected. Food has been great but the service is horrible. Last time we came in for lunch with our son the hostess seemed very irritated that we had a child when we walked in. (We were the only people there at the time) She seated us and aggressively put the silverware onto our table. Ate here with family for a birthday celebration. We were seated quickly and had great service for our party of 7. Ordered a bento box and the food was fresh and cooked perfectly. Every one of our meals was very tasty. The portions were decent in size and we left rather content. This is a great restaurant because you have the option for bento box, sushi, shashimi and various Asian cuisines. This place is small so the tables fill up quickly. Since we are early (6 pm) it wasn't an issue for us. Check this place out, you won't be disappointed. In the past 2 years I have been to this restaurant at least 30 times . By far my favorite In the area . As an lover of anything seafood (and notably sushi) I have tried many items on their menu. I also steal off my husbands plate as he favors their hibachi/bento/Thai options First off all the staff is fantastic ! So polite and accommodating , even though sometimes we only get down their once a month - the waitress will recconize me and know what I want to order (she'll often finish my sentence while I'm placing my order !) Now for the food - I frequently order the sushi triple delight (tuna, salmon, yellow tail, and a spicy tuna roll)it comes with either soup or salad (which I have to admit was the biggest disappointment when I first came here as many sushi restaurants will give you both not make you choose ) Both their miso and salads are great , I love the dressing on their salad , fresh and not mayo based . The fish is always fresh , I've never had questionable sushi here . I also will typically order a side of mackerel (Saba ) as sushi and I have to say it's some of the best I've ever had -I've eaten sushi in NYC , Seattle, and other big cities , but this is super fantastic . They put a just dollop of sweet glaze on the top ( maybe a pineapple reduction of sorts ?) along with some sesame seeds and sliced green onion. It's the perfect complement to a strong fish . If I could I'd order a whole plate of the stuff ! I've also ordered the love boat a few times to split with a table mate . Waitress and chef are accommodating and when asked will put in a few pieces of specific fish (if it doesn't come with it ) it's always pretty and plated nicely . My husbands meals have always been good , he's ordered lots of steak hibachi , general tso's as well as a meat wrapped asparagus dish I'm forgetting the name of now (which was my favorite by far , but he loves the hibachi ) Aside from eating in the restaurant I've taken out several times when I'm in town . Their pick up times are always accurate ,I've never had to wait for them to finish up . Often times when I take out- I'll explore other options on their menu (as this is an Asian fusion restaurant after all.. ) I love pad Thai and sometimes get their shrimp or veggie one , it's good - not the best I've ever had , but definitely satisfies any pad Thai craving I have . There so much room for error in Asian fusion cuisine. One of the biggest mistakes is the lack of fresh - and not fried - food options. I imagine this place must need to have a large menu to attract the broadest crowds, so purists would be slightly disappointed here. To appeal many customers, Wild Ginger promotes take-out. In order to pick-up their food, customers have to walk through the center of the dining room. Apparently staff tries very hard to give correct time estimates, as I did not see many people waiting around. This is good, because I already found it quite distracting to witness the entire exchange. It reduced the pleasure of the meal; making it feel more like a fast-food joint then a dining experience. On the whole, I found the food to be good. The salad was simple - mere greens with one tiny slice of tomato. The dressing had a sweet and sour taste, which I was unfamiliar with. The steak teriyaki was well-seasoned, although the Bento box was smaller, with less food, than what I am accustom to. The husband's sashimi was satisfying. One of the elements on his tray was fried instead of typically steamed, as I mentioned earlier. The atmosphere - besides the clatter of take-out customers - was pleasant. The facilities looked clean. The husband frequents a Wild Ginger in NYC and thought perhaps this one was associated with it. It was not, but certainly we enjoyed our meal. read more

I have tried several sushi places/places that provide sushi in the area and let me say- the buck stops here! (Literally!) I have become utterly obsessed with this place :) The interior is classy and from the walls to the bathroom stall it is very clean! I hear people comment about how there is no subtle music in the background, but I honestly don't mind- it's peaceful. Every single time I've been there my experience has just kept getting better. The staff are sincere and attentive (as can be- granted it can get very busy at times).. But I've never felt overlooked or forgotten. Any time I finish something and put it off to the side it's not long and they have cleared it away for me, they keep an eye on my water and ask if I'd like a refill, and I've never had to wait for a check.. I think they do a good job gauging when I am nearing the end and in a non-presumptuous way lay down the check and assure me I can take my time. Perhaps I have noticed this efficient and genuine service because I normally eat there alone and a single diner is easier to assess. Either way I've been pleased and have been tipping about 50% there. The food itself has been great and outstanding. I have had a meal with "Asian cuisine" but I mostly get their sushi. The food I had there along with the sushi has been a sheer delight! Any vegetables have been flavorful and crisp, any meat has been tender and done just right- sauces are used appropriately and not too light or strong. Mmm delicious I'm getting hungry just thinking about their food! The sushi had been made to high standards in my opinion, always beautifully crafted and displayed.. Furthermore fresh and delicious. I'm sure if you compare this tiny place in upstate NY to that of a genuine on-the-shore place you'd have something negative to say- but I have only good things to say! My only complaint for being the first time actually eating in was it was SOOO QUIET. They had no music playing and you could hear a pin drop I felt like I was in school again at the library!!! I just finished up dinner here with my dad and we both had the same reaction to Wild Ginger. It was okay. At 6:30 on a Saturday the restaurant was abandoned, save one family. It was oddly quiet (the other family was whispering so as not to disrupt this. Kind of made me feel like I was back at my university's library). We were immediately greeted and pointed to a booth to sit in. The menu was pretty large. It felt a little overwhelming. Lots of variety though which was nice. My dad ordered hibachi scallops and chicken and I had chicken pad Thai. It took about fifteen minutes to get our food. The ingredients seemed like they were high quality (veggies weren't anemic and meat wasn't stringy/oddly chewy or tough). We both thought our dishes were alright but we'd both had better. The service wasn't particularly friendly (they tended towards cold) but they were pretty attentive. I'd definitely give them another shot next time I'm in town but this experience was solidly average. read more

This is an Asian fusion restaurant. Excellent sushi, Chinese food, and nice Thai options. I would say their sushi and Chinese food is their specialty. The pad Thai didn't use the right noodles and the Thai curry was more of sautéed vegetables without the deep broth you typically get for a Thai curry dish. We did take out to take to the Elmira Drive-In. They made our food fairly quickly, had to wait about 25 mins but when we arrived they were packed! So they did a good all things considered. Great size portions! My bf got 3 rolls and I decided on the Drunken Noodle which was good, but not the best I've had. I eat Thai fairly regularly and thought that the heat factor on this noodle dish was lacking. Drunken noodles should have a pronounced spicy flavor and it wasn't really going anywhere for me on the Scoville scale. I did enjoy the dish nonetheless but really wish it was spicy. The portion was huge. Really 2-3 meals worth! So even after I finished what I wanted my bf cleaned up! He said he sushi was very good and fresh. Me and my colleagues were in Corning for work for a couple of weeks. We've tried a good number of restaurants and the food were ok. We were not expecting much since we've all from big cities. Asian food was pretty bad in one of the Chinese takeout places in Corning as it's been heavily modified for small town taste and they burnt the food. Didn't expect much here either but surprise surprise. The food even though there were different Asian foods like Thai, Japanese, Chinese, etc, they all taste pretty good like you would expect in a big city Asian restaurant. The taste were quite authentic with maybe the spiciness dialed down a notch. Maybe not be top notch in a big city but I have to say it's definitely pretty good for a small town since the Mexican and Italian restaurants were below par compare to their big city brethren. Also have to note that the waitresses were friendly and had patience. Sure made us laugh a bit. Appreciated after a long day. P.S.
