Got here at lunch time on Tuesday ,ordered ribs potato salad and baked beans. I tried to eat it but was just bad fast food. The ribs had been on the heat table for months,dry,very dried out the beans are just pork and beans with small pieces of Bologna chopped up in it. Potato salad was fair. Very good - cute short blonde took my order - suggested the sour cream potato salad, really good. Had the sarge which has every meat in it which was really good but next time I'm going to try each separately. This is hands down my favorite BBQ in the Ozarks. The portions are big and the flavor of the sauces is even bigger. The music is great. Got into town and after reading the reviews decided to try Whole Hog Cafe. The woman at the register was most rude, short,and did not greet us or in any way seem inviting. Then informed us they were out of chicken, sausage and brisket!!! WHAT!! Read rave reviews about the cheesy corn. It was ok but not anything to write home about. Had to get pulled pork and burnt ends that were ok. Roll was cold. Baked beans were ok but had a tang! So unfortunately will not be returning to Whole Hog Cafe. But will try another place that at least acts like they want our business. read more

A really good price for really good food. I walked in for Friday dinner and ordered my sliced brisket with baked beans and potato salad. The potato salad is really unique by the way. By the time I paid and walked to the end of the counter and filled my water glass, the girl was holding my meal waiting for me to find a place to sit. What a great value for ~$10.00. I got a fair amount of very good hot brisket, a decent helping of beans and really unique potato salad. Just what I ordered and I had a variety of flavors of BBQ sauces to make me happy. Very disappointed. A chalkboard showed prices incorrectly and our lunch was too high prices. A waitress acknowledged the error and the manager was busy at the time but ran out to the car as we were leaving. No offer of refund or anything else except would correct the error. There is a truck stop on the other side of the interstate so we were able to drop our trailer and drive over there. Had plenty of space to park and it was a quick in and out. Ribs were on point! Got a half slab and wish I had bought more. Very creative touch they had on their sauces. Instead of names they sorted them by number and texture/taste. Their sides were really good. Their take on sweet corn was unique. Really cheesey. My least favorite on my plate was the dinner roll. It was kind of similar to golden corral but it had no taste or even butter. I grew up on Texas BBQ so it's hard for me to judge other places... that being said this place isn't bad, the sausage is good with a little kick, the brisket needs some more smoke but it is tender and does the job. Second time here, and, yes, rock solid bar-b-que! This place has it all, huge menu of delicious options, clean, super friendly staff and to me, the key for a solid BBQ restaurant - great sides. I've tried the pulled chicken and beef brisket before and both were great. The brisket was well seasoned and juicy, the chicken had just the right amount of smoke flavor and was moist and meaty, perfect. This time I got the pulled pork and sausage link. The sausage was very good with just a hint of spicy but the pulled pork is the winner. I like pulled pork that is moist but not soaked in the juices - it should be able to draw in the sauce and that's another thing - the sauces. Six choices and endless combinations if you like to mix 'em up like I do. Sauces number 1, 3, and 5 are my favorites because I like sweet, heavy and sometimes hot/spicy sauces. Simply put, Whole Hog Cafe is my favorite BBQ in Springfield. And what's not to love about a successful locally owned business? I've been to two of the locations in SGF, and while both were great, I tend to suggest the N. Glenstone location to my friends. It generally seems a bit less hectic during heavy traffic. Food-wise, I always stick to the basics. Pulled Pork Sandwich with a slew of sides. And while we're talking sides, you'd be dong yourself a disservice if you didn't order the Burnt-End Cheesy Corn. This is now my favorite way to eat corn. In closing, as a testament to my love for great barbecue, last summer Whole Hog catered my wedding reception and it was a hit all around. Very reasonably priced (which is important when you're looking at feeding 150 people), they were also polite, helpful and very appreciative of our business. I was disappointed. I spent almost 20 bucks on Dried out ribs & brisket, pork with big pieces of charred skin and small portions. Manager wouldn't budge so poor customer relations as well. She came over afterwards to ask if I was full, I suppose to prove her point that the portions were enough which is totally not the point. Beef brisket was EXTREMELY FABULOUS! The potato salad was like no other potato salad I've had. Very original and treated great. The only suggestion is make for this restaurant is to add bbq sauce to the baked beans. This place is gluten conscious but doesn't have gluten free bun or gluten free beer or cider. We just stopped and ate a late lunch. Got the 3 meat plate and hubby got the half rib plate. I got the pulled pork, brisket, and sausage. Came with 2 sides. The potato salad was very good and made with sour cream so it wasn't super sweet and had a little bit of a tang! Liked it enough that I found the recipe on Pinterest and will attempt to recreate. I generally don't care for pulled pork and it ended up being my favorite! Very moist and not over smokey. Brisket was a little dry and sausage was ok. The ribs were very good and tender. We will definitely put this on the repeat list for our next trip through. Very clean and the staff were very friendly. Family oriented and highly recommend. Being from Texas, it is hard for me to get used to the style BBQ around here, but, this place does a really good job on the meat. The numerous choices of sauce is a nice touch. I enjoyed trying them all. I ordered the whole hog plate and got to sample more of the meats and veggie choices. The ribs were the best and the coleslaw was very good. The beans and potato salad were not very good and a cold, hard roll served with the meal was terrible. That said, I am giving it a three star on the basis of the sides.
