The cake design we asked for.

We asked for the cake to have sugar petal flowers and they just piped on little blobs and added a sugar pearl in the middle. If they were unable to do what we asked they should have let us know instead of telling us they were capable of achieving what we asked for. The cake was okay. There were lots of holes in the cake itself. It tasted fine but as one of the focal points of our reception it is disappointing that it looked so drastically different than what we asked for.

My email to "who made the cake" to have the cake ready at 10:30am and they didn't

We paid over 600$ for our red velvet wedding cake. I emailed who made the cake a month prior to let them know that our pick up person would be there at 10:30am the day of. They replied to my email and confirmed it would be ready. My pick up person showed up at 10:30am and we're told that it would not be ready till 12pm. So, they had to wait over an hour at the shop. Another woman was there (to pick up her order) and two of the cakes she had purchased hadn't even been made. I had wanted a cake from here since I had the most amazing one over 12 years ago at a friend's wedding from this business). Unfortunately, our cake was dry. It wasn't good. We were disappointed. One of our wedding guests actually asked why we even bought that cake and told us she could have baked us a better one for free. A few of my other "foodie" guests had the same comments later when I asked for their honest opinion on the cake. One even told me HEB grocery store would have baked a better, less dry cake. Let me tell you just how bad it actually was: our dog sitter bought us a red velvet cake from "nothing but Bundt cakes". It sat in our fridge for a week before we got home from the honeymoon and it was still better than the cake we got from "who made the cake"! Don't waste your time with this place. They may have had the mojo years ago but that time is long past. They are running on just their namesake now.

Birthday Party cupcake from Who Made the Cake

This bakery is awesome, beautiful and delicious cupcakes. We had a Lego theme party for my 3 year old great granddaughter. The Lego cupcakes were adorable and tasted great.

Old fashioned vanilla buttercream icing with butter flavor cake. Who Made the Cake custom wedding cake. Delish!

Went back for seconds...not just a second piece but a second cake! Delicious and good value in central Houston for a detailed, custom wedding cake. Needed to find a new cake vendor for our fall 2021 wedding after we were originally scheduled to get married in fall 2020. Our previous cake vendor said they no longer do wedding cakes except "very, very simple ones" and would not even schedule cake tastings anymore. Was worried Who Made the Cake would be overpriced due to its location, but we were so pleased with the results and taste (old fashioned vanilla buttercream icing with butter cake flavor) of the wedding cake- it was a great value to us (3-tiered wedding cake with peony sugar flower cake topper). We had a 100 person wedding and did not want to spend $600+ on a traditional tiered wedding cake- Nadine worked with us to keep our cake in our budget. We came back months later and ordered a simple birthday cake for a family event in spring 2022, and the divine white cake flavor with buttercream frosting was even better than we expected. Moist and crumbly buy not in a dry way. Tips: 1) Have an idea of what design you want before you schedule an in-person cake tasting. 2) Be ready for a serious meeting for your cake tasting- after all it is a business. Nadine does take the time to draw multiple cake designs for you! 3) If you are very indecisive, perhaps set meetings with other cake vendors first so when you meet with Who Made the Cake the choice is clear. 4) Like most wedding vendors tastings are typically held at inconvenient times during the day during the work week, so be prepared.

We love this company! Many of our guests said it was the best tasting cake they have ever head! Here is our flavor we chose, Almond Cake with Vanilla Buttercream & Hazelnut Ganache. They were just perfect to work with, the entire team. We highly recommend them! See our photos on Houston Weddings of the cake, and in attached photos. https://www.weddingsinhouston.com/eblast_images/14_2PDFs/WIH_300_AnitaJohnny.pdf

Cake for our 1 year anniversary. Same flavors as our wedding cake
    Libby H.

Great customer service for a wedding cake as well as in general for buying a smaller premium cake for a special time. We worked with Nadine for our spectacular wedding cake. The service was great and quick email communication. The final product was beautiful and tasted delicious! (Mimosa cake and frosting with lemon curd). The lemon curd is my favorite! So delicious and bright flavors we got the same flavors as a cake to buy for our one year anniversary and still the quality remained delicious, light and fluffy texture. Will suggest this place for custom cakes and wedding cakes! Amazing.

    And who ate it too
    Fox E.

I don't know, but I know who ate it. YOUR MA. It's expensive but they do great work and I fully support them. Nice people and if you want a wedding cake or a party cake or something then they will nail it all the way down and get it absolutely right and it's worth what you pay for it.

If had this cake once at a wedding YEARS ago and there wasn't a day that went by that I thought about where this cake was from. Recently I celebrated a birthday and THIS was the exact cake I wanted but didn't know who made the cake. I contacted the person who had this cake at their wedding and they told me the name, "Who Made the Cake." I thought they were just BSing me until they said that THAT was the name hahaha Luckily they weren't too far away. This size cost $50. Amazing, delicious! Just as yummy as I remembered! Worth every penny.

My son's absolutely perfect graduation cake!
    Karen S.

Pricey...but excellent artwork and impeccable taste! The cake was actually a replica of my two older sons who graduated in 2012 and 2014. That business has since changed ownership and sadly so has the quality of their cakes. I remember "Who Made the Cake" from my days of planning my wedding but chose another vendor. A good friend of mine offered to help with the planning of all things graduation and recommended them!! The name is catchy but the deliciousness of their cakes is the hook!9

We came back after 7 years and it was just like we remembered! We ordered a cake for our daughter's 2nd birthday. We were expecting to have a lot of cake left but our party nearly demolished the cake. It was a huge hit! Their cakes are beautiful and delicious! Thank you!!

Strawberry cake - copy of our car, and they did a great job!
    Melissa M.

We ordered two specialty cakes from "Who made the cake" for my father's birthday. (see photos) The staff we dealt with were very kind and responded to emails quickly. I believe we dealt mostly with the husband of the owner. He was very nice. They asked for several photos of the car that we wanted replicated and did a fantastic job! Both cakes looked great!! In the past, when I've seen a super fancy highly sculpted cake, I've often found them to be dry and not flavorful. I was incredibly surprised to find delicious cake under all the elaborate frosting. The car cake was strawberry and the frosting (below the fancy fondant) was really really good! The golf cake was Italian cream and it was delicious! We easily had enough cake to feed 200 people! The price tag for the cakes is really really up there, but we asked for a very special cake and we got what we asked for. We also paid extra for Sunday delivery and set up. They were right on time! When I need another specialty cake, I'll definitely be back to "Who Made The Cake"!

When I stopped by on a weekday evening at 9pm it was packed. They had stations setup throughout the store to order different goods, which helped to alleviate the rush. Knafeh ($6) - They offered 2 types of knafeh, one with cheese and one with custard. I went with the one made with Nabulsi cheese and topped with shredded phyllo, and soaked in sugar syrup. It was warm, crispy and delicious! Karak tea ($5) - This milk tea drink was made with aromatic spices, primarily cardamom, cloves, ginger and cloves. I was happy to see they used whole milk instead of evaporated milk. The drink was incredibly rich and creamy and tasted great. Turkish delight ($18 / lb.) - This was extremely fresh, soft and chewy, made with cornstarch, sugar, nuts. Some of the varieties I tried had chocolate and/or fruits. The baklava here was fresh made with layers of phyllo dough, chopped nuts, and held together with some honey. The nut offerings here included, almonds, walnuts, peanuts and a few more. Overall I was impressed with everything they offered here with the exception of the nuts, which I thought were just ok. I'd definitely return if I was in the area.

Also got a bag of chocolates, which are weighed by the pound. The only qualm I have is that the chocolates are not labeled, so when you mix them all together, it truly is a bit of a Russian roulette on what you'll get. Everything was super yummy. Our pass was for 1pm and we were inside by 1:10pm. They do reserve the tables initially for the fast passes, at least when we came in at our time and it was great because I couldn't imagine being here without a table since I had a group of little ones with me! The staff were super friendly and worked as quickly as they could. There was a little bit of stress because of volume of orders and people, but they did the best they could and handled the traffic well. We literally got one of everything on the menu and I wasn't able to grab photos before the kids enjoyed them, but that's the whole point! The add ons can become pricey, but for the enjoyment of your little ones, it's definitely worth it! For food, we got the Derpy spam rice, ramen and grilled cheese. Inside you will also find French pastries, coffees and teas, gelato, milkshakes, sandwiches and macaroons. I felt the most interesting items were the French pastries as they are cute and tasty as well. Also, they plate the pastries nicely when you dine in as an added bonus. I tried the Chocolate Royale and the Ruby. Chocolate Royale - a petit chocolate mouse slice with flat chocolate panels along the sides. It is delicate and tasty. If you're a chocolate lover, this is definitely up your alley. Ruby - visually this looks like a strawberry Hershey kiss, with red powder on the exterior and a top piece of foil to resemble foil on the wrapper of a hershey kiss. Inside, it's filled with a strawberry cream and has a chocolate base. I just wish there was more chocolate in this one. They have plenty of seating inside as well as along the sidewalk. What's nudged this place up to 5 stars for me is they have really improved their coffee game, specifically their quality of cappuccino's. Previously it seemed more of latte, but now to me its a legit Capp. Their choice of pastries hasn't changed, which gives you a good assortment of choices and they have added an additional barista or server which also is a nice touch for service.
