The food was delicious!! I enjoyed my catfish, fries and wings! Everything was made fresh and hot!

We randomly came across this on yelp. I got the fish and prawn order, my boyfriend got the fish sandwich. Didn't have my hopes up b/c ratings on yelp can't always determine good food. Anyway, the fish and prawn were so so good I was in shock! It didn't feel like he cut open a Louisiana fish fry mix , it tasted like he used his own ingredients made his own mix and freshly fried our fish. I took the first bite and just didn't even care to take a picture because it was so good. The sandwich was amazing ! Living around in the east bay it's so rare to find a good seafood spot where they just don't have your food laying out under a heater or using questionable grease and questionable fish. This place knocked it out the park. Definitely coming back! And I'm already looking forward to it. Try it , be patient it's fresh! And so sooooo good. What a gem. read more

Juicy and crispy fish, and probably the best fried shrimp in the area, combined with that homemade tartar sauce makes this place the best place to get your seafood fix. My life is a series of food cravings.... But, I'm currently pregnant which gives me extra leverage with my husband. I was having a flash craving for a fried fish sandwich and was sure I'd have to go all the way to Oakland but this place came up on Yelp and did not disappoint. The fried fish sandwich is a definite winner. Hot, fresh, seemed to have lettuce, tomato, cheese and tartar sauce. Hot sauce on the side. Fair pricing. My my my - when I telling you I can still taste the flavors after finishing all my food. Cause Whew! My fried prawns and chicken were sooo delicious. Another member of my family's eyes rolled back and they threw up their hands after tasting the fried catfish. The potato salad was also good and tasted homemade. The owner was so friendly and helpful and took the time to share his story and a little background about the dishes. Everything tasted fresh and I had to start eating immediately in the car because it smelled amazing. It's so good we are tempted to go back tomorrow. I highly recommend this joint - make sure to get enough so you can have a little for later because you are gonna want more, believe me. read more

I'm new to the the Pinole/San Pablo area. I was driving home from work today and was excited to see a food truck near my home that specialized in fried fish - my favorite Friday night treat! But I saw the word "Cat" and cringed a bit. I am not a catfish fan, as a rule. My experiences with it had always left a bad taste in my mouth, literally. But I stopped by anyway, with hope in my heart, and belly... When I pulled up to the truck, there was a friendly looking gentleman sitting in a lawn chair outside of the truck. I got out and greeted him. I told him I was new to the area and just checking things out. I then asked if catfish was the only option. He looked at me, knowingly. I wasn't the first person he encountered with an aversion to catfish. He then proceeded to school me on the wide variety of catfish that exist - some 50 I think he said?? He believed he could make me a convert. He then offered me a "welcome to the neighborhood/you're gonna like my catfish" sample. I was certainly curious. He went into the truck and quietly instructed his cook how to proceed. 5 minutes later, with no old grease or any fish odor emanating from the truck, he emerged with a perfectly golden brown piece of catfish.... I was hungry as I hadn't eaten lunch yet. There was not the familiar muddy, bottom-feeder smell I had come to expect from "cat". It smelled clean - precisely what Jesse the owner had promised. The first bite was crispy, piping hot, with a moist interior. The fish neither tasted nor smelled of mud. It was remarkably fresh. Dipped in his homemade tartar sauce, I took another luxurious bite. His classically-southern cornmeal crust was perfectly seasoned and matched well with the tangy tartar. It was divine. Jesse's customer service was top notch. Been driving past this food truck that's near my home and after running into the owner at the supermarket I decided to come support as this is a desperate need in my area. Fried catfish, prawns, wings and more! First things first the owner is very friendly and gives you service with a smile. The food is extremely fresh and hot. The catfish was really good, nicely fried and seasoned. The prawns were also fried well and seasoned. The fries are really good and fresh and seasoned. I have been seeing this truck and finally got curious to stop by. I decided to go w the fish and prawn entree. I wasn't disappointed. The portions were great and that seasoning! My kids loved the prawns the most and I will agree. Fish was cooked to perfection. I will be back. Not to mention the gentlemen offered to bring the food back my car instead of waiting outside. Many restaurants are ripping us off these days with prices that are sky high, but quality and quantity are lacking. Who Dat Cat provides a great value by comparison. My little cousin and I was actually looking for a fish n chip spot since the one we wanted to try was closed. We happen to stumble across this wonderful food truck. I am glad I did and may I say the owner is super welcoming. He even walked over to our car to give us our food! Anyways let us start with the chicken wings. I actually loved the chicken wings. Crispy and seasoned really well. You can literally just eat the wings by itself or you can dip it in the garlic ranch and kick your taste buds up a level. I would get the wings again for sure. My little cousin got the fish sandwich and he loved it. It was hefty and delicious. The fish was hot and overall one of the better fish sandwiches I have had. I got the 5 cat fish PC that came with either fries, potato salad or a salad. I went with fries and the potato salad. Fries are seasoned well which i was super happy. The cat fish was delicious because it did not have that overwhelming muddy taste that usually comes from cat fish. Fish was fried to perfection and the breading was delicious. I will for sure come back. I do wish that maybe in the future he can make some homemade drinks like sweet tea or lemonade. Overall no complaints! read more

Walked the dog past this truck and it smelled fantastic. The owner Jesse is a great guy and he's really enthusiastic about his food. He'll hand you a sample to get you hooked, and the fish is so good. Great light crust with flavor and crunch, perfect light cooked fish, no oil taste at all. Sample on the white napkin barely left any oil marks. Super light, no way could I do this at home. Home made Tartar Sauce is insanity sauce and it goes on everything, get extra. Got the Fish Sandwich and fries, big piece of fish on good size soft roll. You do not need teeth to eat this sandwich, and I couldn't finish the entire thing. Still delicious a couple hours later and again, no oil. Had a great time talking to the owner Jesse, the guy is filling a hole in the local cuisine and he cares about every order going out. Next time I'm getting the Poorboy that wasn't on the menu. read more

The owner was also super friendly and accommodating for us too - we showed up right when he was about to close up and he happily prepared us our meal. Would definitely recommend and will come back! I dont waste time giving reviews to just anyone - I only bother using my time to give reviews to those that deserve them, either really good or very bad. With that out of the way, I am here to tell you - YOU GOTTA TRY THIS FOOD!!! I am typically not a fried fish guy, but I stopped by and figured I would give it a try. Well, suffice it to say that the Owner has made a believer out of me! Best fried fish I've ever had - perfect spice level, and perfect cook - not overdone. The shrimp - DABOMB! Also perfectly cooked and seasoned. The wings are great. The fish sandwich is incredible (its that tartar sauce!) and the po'boy is freakin awesome!! The fries - I don't know what he puts on them, but damn they are good too! Trust me - just try it. It's well worth the price - the portions are large as well!
