I've been coming here my whole life, back to when I was a kid. I grew up going here with my grandpa, going to the cruise ins, seeing Irvin, and eating what used to be some of the best food in Laurens for a fair price. For years, I've also been bringing my grandma here every Thursday. That's been our routine for longer than I can remember. Unfortunately, we're about done. Everyone has a line, and ours is this. A hot dog plate with fries and a cheeseburger plate with fries comes out to right at $25, and that's with NO DRINKS. I always thought a "plate" included a drink, but it doesn't. Add $5 for two drinks. If you throw in a milkshake or a slice of pie, you're suddenly in the same price range as Outback Steakhouse. For us, it just isn't worth $30. $30 and that's the cheaper things on the menu for just two people. I know people will blame the economy, the president, or say "they have bills to pay too". I get all that. But at some point, it stops being inflation and starts feeling like greed. And it's only going to continue until people call it out and choose to eat somewhere else. As for the ambiance, since Yelp asks about it, I'll just say this. In the 30 years I've been coming here, nothing has changed. No upgrades, no updates. It's exactly the same as it's always been. It's clear none of the profits have been put back into the restaurant to improve it. The same drink machine has been filling cokes for probably 40 years, the bathrooms are pretty gross, the parking lot has never been replaced, and they don't take Apple Pay. If you're looking for an alternative, check out Arnold's in the square. The food is better and it's significantly cheaper. It's disappointing, because this place used to mean something to us. But everyone has to draw the line somewhere, and this is where we draw ours. read more

I've been meaning to write a review of this location for a while now. I've tried to give this location the benefit of doubt thinking that maybe... the cooks are having a bad day. Wrong!!!! The food is just awful. You would think that with the reputation of the Laurens location the food should be rated the same. Wrong!!!!! You would think that with the company being owned by the same family members the recipes should be the same. Wrong!!!!! Today was the last straw. I ordered 4 sausage biscuits. The sausages on all 4 biscuits were very undercooked. We just ended up giving them to the dogs. Granted, the biscuits were good, until they decided to put the undercooked sausage in the middle of the biscuit. One day I went there and paid over $38.00 for chicken and sides. What a waste of money. The chicken wasn't seasoned and cooked too hard. The so-called large mash potatoes and gravy, and the green beans were not enough for two grown adults. The cups were not even full. However, they did fill the cup that held the gravy. The gravy was pretty good. The mashed potatoes were runny, with no flavor whatso-ever. I ended up trashing that too. One time I purchased the pork chops. Not one drop of seasoning, only flour. No salt. No pepper. No nothing else. Just pork chops and flour. I never even tried to buy that again because I spent quite a bit of money for the 8 pork chops. I live right around the corner from the Clinton, SC Whiteford's location. I stopped buying chicken there a while back. If I get the taste for Whiteford's chicken; I will drive all the way to the Laurens, SC location to get it. What's sad is that Clinton location is only 2.1 miles or 5 minutes away from my house whereas, Laurens location is 11 miles or 21 minutes away from my house. The only good thing I can say is that the two ladies that are always at the drive thru when I go there are very friendly. No complaints at all with the service I received. read more

The service was awful. Employees were too busy talking to each other to get our order. When they finally took our order they wouldn't look at us when speaking & couldn't or wouldn't answer any questions about how things are prepared which is important when you have allergies. The food was okay and overpriced. We won't be back. read more

I still love the hotdogs and burgers here. I haven't had a disappointing meal since I've been going here.

I had a couple of hotdogs at whitefords today. The hotdogs were pretty in appearance,(see picture)but that's about where the good ends. The slaw was on the verge of being frozen. It was colder than it should be. The hotdog itself had a very cheap feel to the tongue and it was not hot. In fact it was room temperature. My conclusion-if you are going to charge $2.50 per dog, buy a quality dog. And take your slaw out of the freezer before putting on the bun. read more

GPS somehow took me a different route through SC than I had ever gone before. Saw the Whiteford's sign and said "Let's Adventure". I asked for the one thing I should have as I'd probably never be through Clinton again and they suggested the Slaw Dog. I had two, could have gone back for two more. Really good, not bad for a local establishment. Staff was friendly, and accommodating, it was my boyfriend's first time, and he thought the burger was great! We both come from places with those "local eats" and this spot certainly compares. Can't wait to eat here again. read more

Well first off huge disappointment to find out it is NOT a drive in! We drove out of our way to try this "drive-in" out. It is just like any other fast food restaurant except they also serve some country meals as well. I got the cheeseburger plate. The cheeseburger was ok. The meat tasted like the frozen bubba burgers you get from Walmart. Nothing special. Fries were ok. Cole slaw too sweet and was warm. Restaurant was clean. Service typical. They messed up my husbands burger and put mayo on it even though the receipt said no mayo. Is it the worst? No ... decent if this is the only place in town. We initially wanted to go to the pizza place across the street but due to it being packed we came cross the street to Whiteford's. Let me tell you after being out of town for two weeks and eating fast food, it was beyond amazing for home cooking! The staff was friendly and helpful and we came back to nights in a row!! Highly recommend the manager special! The first night we got pot roast, two sides, corn bread, and a drink and a dessert all for like 10 bucks!! Glad we were able to find this place before we left to go back home. read more

Forget Corona, I'm going to die from salmonella!!! The service was friendly but when I arrived home, I had a hard time chewing my chicken strip. I looked & it was almost completely uncooked! This has been in town for as long as I can remember. Family owned and locally operated. They have a large menu with pretty good prices. I have been eating breakfast from here Saturday mornings for many years. My favorite is their gravy biscuits (large or small) add a scrabble egg if you feel adventurous. read more

Some of the worst food I've ever had. There were two unknown hard-shelled insects crawling near the food. The burgers were okay, but the barbecue sause had too much viniger, and took my breath away.
