We did takeout tonight. Normally it's really good and we have everything in our bag that we asked for. Tonight that wasn't the case. We ordered a pound of meat, three 1/2 pound sides with extra sauce. There was no extra sauce and two small cups for a pound of meat. The food was okay, but the meat was extremely dry due to not enough sauce. The bag was tied off when my husband picked it up so we could not "check" it. While we will be back, we won't be leaving without the bag being opened and checking to ensure everything is there. read more

This restaurant used to have really good food . I don't know what happened but don't waste you money. We were served cold food that tasted like it had been prepared weeks ago and heated in a microwave but not even hot. Tray was thrown on the table for everybody to eat out of with cold reheated fries. It was May 9th, 2019 when I first drove into the sleepy little town of Simposonville, SC. It reminded me so much of Mechanicsville, VA I felt instantly comfortable. My wife wanted BBQ and so whatever wifey wants; wifey gets. Henry's smokehouse seemed to be about the only option in town. Thank God for the Yelp app! Without it we would have never found this place. I got the wife on the Yelp train so that's awesome. Anyway, let's get to it about the food. I thought it was A-OK! The ribs fell right off the bone and had a pleasant smoky flavor. The sweat potato mash thing was good and the Mac-N-Cheese hit the spot! I really got a kick out of the slice of white bread and pickle. That's how they do it in Texas so it was cool to see South Carolina represent. My sister got a pulled pork sandwich along with some fries and that was also mighty tasty. Would I go back? Henry's was Open On July 4th, So that's a positive. A party of six of us went in to have lunch. Unfortunately, we were unable to stay, because every meat they have is cooked with tomato (BBQ sauce), and I have a tomato allergy. I asked, Chicken? Nope, it's BBQ chicken. Hash? Nope, it's made with the meats they cook in sauce. Well, okay ... so, we left. I would suggest that Henry's provide at least one meat entree with no tomato products, for a few reasons: 1) Tomatoes are a common allergen. 2) Tomatoes are a nightshade, and many people avoid them for that reason. 3) Because tomatoes are fruits, diabetics are instructed to avoid them. read more

BEST bbq around town!! That is always our go to when we are craving some bbq. Their sides are just as good as well. They give you very good portions as well. Big disappointment. Came here with my fiance to try their food as a consideration for catering our wedding. First thing, sat down to a sticky table(not dirty; table finish was sticky) and proceeded to order our food. We ordered the 3 meat(pork, chicken, ribs) combo plate and a also the bbq sandwich plate. Sides tried were Mac n Cheese, baked beans, potato salad, and sweet potato casserole. Food came out literally 2 min later. First sight looked good but the ribs were barely warm, dry, very plain tasting and didn't seem fresh. The chicken was over cooked to the point it turned to a paste-like consistency once in your mouth. The pulled pork was ok at best and required sauce. Baked beans were very basic off-brand canned beans...nothing special. Same goes for the Mac n Cheese. Potato salad was good but nothing fancy. We didn't eat but a few bites before concluding we would not chose this as an option for catering our wedding. I wouldn't return as we couldn't even finish our food because of the items explained above. read more

Finally got to try Henry's today after moving to the area not to long ago. It didn't disappoint! The ribs were so delicious, fell right off the bone and full of flavor. We tried the burnt ends and brisket as well, so good! Staff there were super nice and helpful, loved the decor inside too! By far these are some of the worst ribs available in South Carolina. When we got our food, the ribs were cold and partially uncooked. Also, the tables were extremely sticky and the restaurant I don't think has been clean since the late 80s. I just wish we picked a different restaurant to eat at. The only hot thing on my plate were the fries and they weren't even salted. Beans.. they definitely came from a can, and judging from the temp and lack of seasoning, they were poured directly from the can into my bowl. My daughter had hash and she said it was just "okay".. My kids are straight up L-A-Z-Y. All they do is sit around the house all day reading book after book after book. If they aren't reading they are building skyscrapers with Legos and making intricate villages replete with coffee shops, libraries, and Bed and Breakfasts. I mean, you're 8 years old! Why am I telling you about karate and failed athleticism when I am supposed to be talking BBQ? I'm getting there. We went to look at the karate place next door after school, and we were starving. So we stopped into Henrys to grab a quick snack (finally made the transition). We all split a BBQ sandwich and fries. I actually thought the bbq was pretty good. It was tender and flavorful. Maybe not full of smoke but that's okay. The bookworm was really digging it too. She ate the hell out of her half of the sandwich. The other half of the fam ate the fries. They are had chopped from real potatoes and taste great. A little salt was needed but I like how fresh they were. If you have lazy kids, take them to watch karate and then eat a sammich like we did. We have yet to see if they will advance past the initial rainbow and unicorn belt onto the prestigious 18 degree black belt, but only time will tell. read more

Sometimes you walk into a hole in the wall and are blown away by the food. You don't mind the dirty floors and sticky tables because the food is soo good. Sadly such is not the case here. The hole in the wall look matches the quality of the food (or lack thereof). The chicken, super dry. The ribs, did not even smell of meat. They smelled like they've been in the freezer for years. I didn't even take a bite for fear of getting food poisoning. The brunswick stew tasted like it came out of a can and then they added the leftover dry chicken into it, but a soggy shredded version. The shredded pork is really moist and tender but I was disappointed in the lack of favor and the choice of bbq sauces. We are bbq nuts and have smoked our own before. If we see a bbq place we always try it so this review might be a little harder than most locals. I have tried several things from here. Pictured is the bbq sandwich, mac n cheese, and beans. All are just average at best. The bbq does not even taste remotely smoked or wood burned.
