I'm not the biggest fan of brisket when visiting BBQ restaurants but theirs is amazing and I highly recommend it! I learned the hard way on my first visit and my son allowed me to try some of his. The sides are very simple but they compliment the BBQ. Fried okra was fresh and cooked to perfection. The jalapeño cheese grits are unbelievable and a must try! Service was a group effort by several waitresses who took good care of us. If you ever near Clemson, I would definitely make this a stop.

There are no signs, and if the staff are all busy, like they were when I visited, you just wander around and guess. It's a buffet, but do you sit, do you go ahead and make your plate? It turns out the beginning of the buffet is at the back of the restaurant (again, no sign indicating this). The servers make your plate for you, like a cafeteria, then you pay before you eat. Like I said, the ribs are boiled. I can't get over that. I had turnip greens and black-eyed peas for sides, and they were both good, but not great. My verdict is that there are much better barbecue places in Greenwood.

First off I attempted to order a half chicken & was told they don't serve them until after 1pm. After 1pm? Lunch is dying off by 1 o'clock, in Texas most BBQ joints sell out by 1 oclock if not you're stuck with whatever is left. Secondly, I ordered Brisket. In Texas we ask "Lean or Fatty" I wasn't asked that here which I thought was odd. So I watched the young lady cut the brisket, there wasn't a drop of juice on the cutting board & she tried to cut off the fat and not offer it to me! WHAT!?!?!? I ordered a half pound of sausage and got some super dry...I don't even know if I'd call it sausage. I will just because I don't want to be disrespectful. But it tasted horrible & no cheese in your sausage? You need a fat in sausage to prevent it from being dry! Also ordered a pint of the Brisket Chili...Such a sad attempt at Chili. Tasted like tomato sauce. Sadly it was the moistest thing I paid for. I'll never go back nor will I ever recommend CJ's. Wow, I'm ashamed.

You order at the counter and they prepare your food as you are on the other side of the glass. You are given the option to pay with a card or get a discount for cash. You get your drinks and find a table. As busy as they were, we wondered if we would be able to find a table. There were plenty of they also have some tables outside but it was super hot. I had the pulled pork plate and my son and husband both had the chopped brisket. The pork was good but the brisket was amazing. Brisket is amazing when done right and this was done very right. Full of flavor and moist and juicy. AMAZING. You have three different sauces you can try. They are at the tables. Hot, regular and mustard based. All had great flavor and the hot wasn't real hot. As sides we had the Brunswick stew, Mac and Cheese and cheesy hash browns. The Brunswick stew is less chunky and more fine. The flavor was good. The Mac and cheese was very creamy in a white cheese sauce. It was really good. The hash browns were full of flavor. I would definitely order the Mac and cheese and hashbrowns again but probably would skip the Brunswick stew. Not that it wasn't good. I would just try other menu items first. Just FYI. No alcohol. But you're coming here for the food. You won't even miss having an adult beverage. The tea is freshly brewed and all you need. All three of us left stuffed. I took half of my meal home with me. Not sure if it is available every day because the menu just offers a dessert of the day. Two of us shared it and there was plenty to share. Of course, this was after we each had already eaten our dinners. And we're already stuffed. But the person at the table behind us was raving about how good it was so we couldn't resist. The employees were friendly and they kept the line moving. There were two kind ladies out in the dining area refilling drinks and making sure tables were cleaned as soon as people left. This is the kind of food you dream about after you've been there. So very good. We will definitely be back soon.
