Probably the worst experience I had at a store ever. We were about 15 minutes early to our appointment due to their being less traffic than we expected. When we came in there were dresses all over the floor and we didn't even see anyone. The associate finally heard us came out and just said "you're early" in a rude tone, no introductions or anything I never even got her name. She told us to look around while she cleaned up and we only found a couple we liked. There was not a lot of variety and the dresses were dirty (one even had blood on it on the rack). We told the salesperson what we wanted exactly and even showed pictures and she kept bringing us options that were way off and when we picked ones out ourselves she would make rude comments like "oh that one?" There was no help in trying on the dresses and when she attempted to zip it up she made a comment about how tight it was, how it wasn't made for my body type for every single dress and didn't even use any clips to make the dress look nice on. We were supposed to have an hour appointment but we ended up being done after about 20 minutes just because of the customer service. Not to mention the store was dirty and had hair all over the dressing room floor. At the end we decided to take the information for one of the dresses just to think about it but it took her 5 minutes to write it down and then she tried to take a phone call so we just walked out and didn't even consider the dress we liked. Came here to shop for my wedding dress. They definitely had some beautiful/unique wedding gowns. Appreciated that this place didn't charge a consultation fee like some of the other stores. We came on a weekday so we were the only clients there in addition to one that came in to pick up/work on a dress alteration. Met Anna the owner and she was really nice and sweet. Overall had a good experience. Agree with some of the other reviews that there was pressure in buying the dress right away. So just make sure you take whatever time you need to pick a dress. 3.5 stars I bought my wedding gown here in January 2020 before the pandemic happened and it arrived in June 2020. Although I had to postpone my wedding to next year, I'm glad that my dress still arrived based on the timeline that I was quoted. This was the third dress shop that I went to and the mixed reviews did make me a little weary. The dress selection is definitely beautiful but their advertised "$499 and under sales" are only based on off season or off the rack dresses. The other shops that I went to set the bar super high for my dress buying experience. Despite having an appointment, it didn't feel super personalized since the shop was filled with other brides and their families at the same time. There is high pressure from the owner to buy and do alterations there. If you do decide to go, make sure you are a stern negotiator or bring one with you. I didn't do my alterations here or buy any additional accessories. Roya gave me a positive experience though. So I recommend this place with a grain of salt - make it your first stop so that the bar is set lower than your expectations. read more

ALTERATIONS - take it some where else, don't let them do it. I didn't search for an alternative seamstress since I bought the dress here and figured it would be more convenient and trusted they knew how to alter. My final appointment to pick up my dress after the alterations ....was about an hour long. I sent the dress back MULTIPLE times (maybe 4-5?) for them to fix how the edge of the cups were sewn in. The cups were too close to the edge so it was visible. The thread work was also very messy. Each time I pointed out it was not fixed, I was given one excuse or another, eventually it ended at , "once you iron it, it will be fixed". Despite ironing, using fabric tape, body tape.....none of it helped. I also snipped the loose ends of the thread myself since they were poking out and could be seen on my chest. (At this appointment I was helped by the owner I believe... talk, dark hair, always has earbuds around her neck. The amount $$$ they charge for alterations and for such a simple ask ....this is absolutely not acceptable. Should you still want to have your alterations done with them. Be sure to ask for the TOTAL cost of alterations. After my dress arrived and I went in to try it on, I was measured and we discussed what needed to be altered. I also paid for the alterations. My third time there I decided to pull the trigger and have the waist altered since I was so close to the date. At this time, I was told I need to pay $200 plus because it wasn't included in my initial payment for alterations. WHAT ?! I was explained it was not noted on my paperwork and therefore was not charged. (So shame on me for not asking, because as a first time bride I should have known and the ladies working there had no responsibility of being transparent apparently) Yes I did mention the issue with the cups at this visit as well but they stated it was due to the straps and waist not being altered yet. Eat a burger - yes, that was told to me when I went in on two separate occasions to try my dress on. My weight was fluctuating and the dress was looser each time. This was after I stated I was not trying to lose weight on purpose and didn't know why I was fluctuating. Kanika (sp?) - The lady who works only on Fridays and Saturdays (I believe) she was the one who helped me find my YES dress and she was amazing! Attentive, insightful, and professional. I bought my dress here in December of 2018 for my wedding the following December. I was relatively new to the area and experienced intense pressure from the staff to have my dress altered in their shop, which I regretfully went with. The dress shopping experience was great, the fitting was not. Their seamstresses never finished anything on time, and the owner would yell at the seamstress in front of me for not finishing certain things (getting my skirt hemmed, etc). They charged me hundreds of dollars per visit even though they told me at time of purchase that alterations were included in the cost. I was still upset with how the dress fit and how it looked at about four weeks beforehand, and I called them for one final fitting, and got screamed at over the phone. I finally did what I should have done in the beginning, found a different seamstress, and my dress turned out perfect. There were still a few things on my dress from this shop, including the bustle. I had no voice in how I wanted the bustle done, and they did a bustle underneath, and I wound up stepping on the bustle and getting my feet stuck in the train the entire night. It was a truly disappointing experience, and I encourage other brides to be careful and steer clear. read more

I bought my beautiful Casablanca wedding dress from here in Jan 2018. After 3 sessions of alterations, I was finally able to bring it home in October 2018. The staff was always helpful and kind. The only downside was having to wait and redo the alterations because the positioning of the bustle wasn't done correctly after the first 2 times. I'm not sure how I even got an appointment here, but I was able to if we wore masks. I was expecting an experience like I have witnessed my friends have, magical, fun, and exciting. This was the opposite. You know when you have that gut feeling as soon as you walk into a place? I had that. I knew instantly this was not going to be a good time. My mom and I walked in, nobody came to greet us. When someone finally heard us, they came out and we told them we had an appointment. There was a lot of awkward silence - so I felt like I would take the lead (huh?) and say what I was looking for. I hadn't tried on any dresses before so I was hoping for someone to guide me. Instead I said "sleeves" and the lady said "yes, we have those"...so I figured that meant I would have to go find them. I hesitantly picked out a couple (non of which I liked) so I would at least have something to try on. When I headed to the changing room, I was surprised nobody helped me. I know for a fact that they are supposed to help you step into the dress, etc. At this point, I was like ok whatever lets just get this over with. I tried on a few dresses, walked out and ASKED them to help me zip them up, they didn't even pick up the train to help me walk. I did some awkward fake mirror looks as if I was thinking about the style, but I just wanted it to be over with. I noticed a sign that said "no pictures unless you purchased the dress" which was also odd. I would also make comments about what I liked and didn't like about the dress to which they didn't seem to care - me: "I don't the low cut on this one" them: "we can fix it" me: "so what would that look like?" them: "add lace". Talk about confusion. After a few dresses, the first lady disappeared and another one just appeared out of nowhere without explanation. The lead lady in charge came and went coldly and then wanted us to buy a dress on the spot. We said we would go to lunch and discuss, and when it was clear we weren't buying right away- THEY JUST WALKED OUT. No goodbye or help out of the dress, no friendly conversation about coming back if I wanted to, NOTHING. I got the heck outta the dress and we ran out of there as quickly as possible. Not the bridal experience I was looking for and sad that I dragged my mom out for such a terrible appointment. Even if I had found a dress I loved, I would not buy it from here. read more

Mother of the groom dress. Limited selection but I found a dress. After I put down my 50% non-refundable deposit for the dress the staff was much less responsive, down right dismissive of me. Before purchasing the dress they lead me to believe alterations were no problem. Well, when I went to the shop for my alterations the ignored me. They had my money, and they were pretty much done. The way they treated me was downright rude. And luckily for me, that was the case because I was so annoyed I wasn't gonna get my dress altered there. They wanted over $550 (more than the cost of the dress) for simple hem and take the sleeveless shoulders up. Fortunately, I did not use them for alterations. Afterwards, I had heard multiple nightmare stories about their alterations. I took my dress somewhere else to be altered for $120. The woman who did the alterations mentioned to me that if they had just ordered the correct size, one size smaller, the dress would not have needed any alterations. Go somewhere else. Anywhere else. I made an appointment, showed up maybe 5 minutes late, and the other appointment was not only still there, but still deep trying on dresses. Fine, no problem, it happens. When I walked in the door the staff turned to look at me and didn't say anything. I was an inconvenience. It took a couple minutes of standing there awkward before anyone came to even check in. Let me be clear, they had the staff. Just no one offered to help. When I finally got to look at dresses they were all gross with with makeup, dirt, and what I assume was sweat. Dresses they wanted me to try on. Then you're shoved into a TINY dressing room and they don't even help you in and out of the dresses. There's enough staff, trust me, that wasn't the problem. They just don't. Probably another reason the dresses are so messed up. Luckily I had my sister there to zip. You walk out to the giant room and they just stare at you. At one point this conversation happened: Me: I'm not sure if I like how deep the neckline is. Them: Well we can put white or nude mesh. Me: Oh okay. What does that look like? Them: White or nude mesh. ..... Basically it was a poor selection unless you want overly beaded and a ton of cheap looking tulle. The staff was not welcoming. The dresses were legitimately dirty. I wanted to love it there, the place has been in Vienna forever. I assumed it would be amazing. I was there for 30 minutes. That was 30 minutes too long. Do not bother making the drive. read more

They have beautiful dresses here, and can fit almost every budget (I was shopping for a dress for around $1,000). However, as previous reviewers have mentioned, they are pushy about getting the alterations done in their shop. Not knowing better, I agreed to their alterations and was very disappointed. 1. I wear a B cup. The seamstress strongly recommended large pads for the bust area. They looked ridiculous. There was a gap between the dress and under my arm area caused by the pads and her shortcut sewing technique. 2. The seamstress made the bustle more complicated than it needed to be (7 ties instead of 2 simple hook and eyes) and it hung lower than it should have. Additionally, NO ONE ANSWERED THEIR PHONE OR EMAIL FOR WEEKS AND WEEKS when I contacted them to make corrections. The alterations were expensive and in the end I had to take my dress to another shop to have them re-done. Luckily the second alterations shop was extremely professional, they were able to troubleshoot with me and squeeze me into their busy schedule. My dress ended up fitting like a glove and the bustle was perfect when they were done with it. I honestly think White Swan should refund me for the alterations. read more

I bought my dress here! I like how their dresses are displayed on mannequins, and they have a wide variety of styles. The shop assistants are nice enough, but it is Anna who is the star of the show. She hand picked my dress for me after watching from the corner of the room as I struggled to find what would work for me. I loved my dress. It was a magical moment! And what was even better is how beautifully they tailored it. She took out the sides (I am large busted) and built in a corset inside the dress to help cinch my waist. The disgusting look one of the employees gave my niece when she mentioned her budget was only less slightly disgusting than the look she gave her when she looked at her body type. They didn't even wait until we left out of the shop to start talking about her/us. IMO a wedding is more about the love between 2 individuals and less about the label you have on your dress. My search for wedding dresses brought me here, but I sure wish it hadn't. When I walked in for my appointment, there was no one there to greet me. I wasn't even acknowledged upon entering, so we walked around their mannequins dressed in wedding dresses then finally went upstairs to waste more time. When the girl finally noticed us, she led us upstairs and proceeded to put me in a tiny dressing room that upon hearing I had an appointment she removed another patron from the larger room, put her in the smaller room, since she had been just a walk-in. I felt a bit bad, but I HAD made an appointment and I needed my matron of honor to help me try on dresses. The "large" dressing room upstairs still felt a bit cramped and there wasn't much space outside to really move around because of how many dresses are packed upstairs. It was a bit hot, their HVAC didn't seem to be working properly. I tried on some beautiful dresses and the girl that helped us was very nice but the entire experience felt like being at a department store. The girl would bring us dresses, but it didn't feel tailored to me or that I was particularly special to them. If you want the one on one experience, a room to yourself that isn't overly cluttered, a large 3 way mirror to twirl on a pedestal in front of, and the personal touch of someone to pin your dress, maneuver the large fluffy ones, and make you feel beautiful, go to Soliloquy Bridal Couture in Herndon. White Swan can't provide any of that. read more

I went here for my first time trying on wedding dresses, and the experience overall was not that great. I came in with my three bridesmaids, and when we met up with the consultant, she told me to look around the top and bottom floor for dresses I would like to try on. She did not once ask for my budget, and when I showed her a photo of a dress I liked, she simply told me that the illusion necklines would all be downstairs, aka go look, instead of trying to pull dresses or make suggestions for things that were similar. Halfway through the appointment, she told me that she had to leave, and that another consultant would be assisting me for the remainder of my appointment. I found this both strange and unprofessional. I later discovered that she was new, but I felt like she definitely was not ready to consult on her own and should have been partnered with a senior consultant. She was very sweet, but the entire experience with her was extremely awkward. The second lady who I worked with was obviously a seasoned vet, and pulled a nice dress that was a similar style as the picture I had showed her. I would much rather have had her for the entirety of my appointment. Unfortunately, by the time we were able to work with her, we had run out of dresses that I wanted to try on, and ended up leaving shortly after. My friend found her wedding dress at this shop and was very happy with her purchase, so it's not hopeless - but I had an entirely different experience here. This was about the 6th place I've been to and was hesitate to go after reading the reviews about the customer service. However, I walked in knowing how I wanted my appointment to be and was determined to find a dress regardless of the customer service. I spoke to an associate named Tiffany and she greeted me without hesitation and offered her services. They offer two types of dresses. One in clearance and the other regular price. The regular priced dresses are a bit higher than I would expect but I feel they can reasonably re-price those. Clearance is as sample size and cannot be re-ordered since most are discontinued, but they said they will fix any torn off beadings or laces to ensure the dress is in great shape without an additional price. They even guaranteed me 50% off alterations and added an additional $100 off. So if you're looking for great reasonable priced dress and you know what you're looking for-this might be place for you to look! This was the fourth or fifth bridal salon I went to. After seeing the reviews I was really excited, but when I walked in I immediately knew this was going to be a bad experience. One of the employees looked at me and snidely asked if she could help me. When I told her I had an appointment she went to make sure I did, and then came back to reluctantly help me. Halfway through the appointment she disappeared without a word and another woman came to "help" me. I was forced to do everything myself. Take the dress off, put the dress on (they zipped me up) and walk back and forth to the mirror. They didn't carry the train or even artfully arrange/fluff my dress to properly display it. I was constantly looking for an attendant to help me. There was no seating area for my guests, and the whole place looked a bit old and cramped. I wasn't a fan of the dresses at all. I recommend you go to this salon first before you know what the bridal salon experience should be. I wasn't expecting champagne, but I did expect a baseline level of customer service. read more

This is the first boutique that I went to, and they get any stars at all only because they have a pretty good selection of gowns, and the girl helping me, Tiffany, was amazing. However, the owner, was extremely cold, unfriendly, and oftentimes condescending attitude. While Tiffany was more than happy to work with me on suggesting different gowns at different pricepoint, the owner lady was basically telling me, oh you don't like the price of this gown? go somewhere else then. And that's what I did. The friends who went with me sat at front waiting for me the whole time, and they also observed that the owner lady being mean to all her customers. White Swan is a hidden gem! Definitely go here. They carry some unique designers that aren't common around here. Something that made White Swan stand out is that they give you more privacy than other boutiques! They don't go into the dressing room with you and allow you to change by yourself, which I loved. The staff was incredibly kind and several different consultants helped me throughout the appointment, which allowed me to have all of my questions answered and get lots of opinions. Went in after having a bridal dress disaster (at another store ) and was so depressed. I called White Swan on a whim and the woman encouraged me to come in that day, so I drove over right away with my mom, niece and my brother's girlfriend. Walked in, again a bit depressed and not expecting to find much. We are greeted by a collection of beautiful dresses and a warm sales woman, Megan. She asked me several questions to help me pinpoint on an idea and budget. We went upstairs and tried on several dresses. After a few I finally found my dress! I was so excited that it took everything in me to not bawl my eyes out. 24 hours later I got a call that they ordered my dress and it would be ready in a few months for my first fitting. This was the first boutique I went to and the lady who helped me was very unenthused the whole time. I almost felt bad that I was so excited to try on dresses because I could tell she was clearly not into it. I went to a few more boutiques and the associates were so much different. Granted, the dress selections weren't the greatest at other places, but I was astounded by how big the difference in service was. I returned a few weeks later by myself (I needed to go alone without family/friends' opinions) to try on a few more dresses and give the boutique a second chance because they do have nice gowns. I ended up finding *the dress* but again, same lackluster responses. The first lady who helped me didn't even blink an eye at me when I came back in. (I'm going to just assume she didn't remember me.) Whatever the case, I ordered the dress from another boutique because the service was that much better. Customer service really is everything! Especially when a bride is trying on wedding dresses. Get excited with them! This is a big moment! Plus, I learned that the price they were going to sell it to me for was for the "women's size" (16 and up). I am a size 2. I got the dress at a different boutique for $200 less. Went with my friend for her bridal fitting and my bridesmaid dress alterations. She and I are curvy girls, but we have strong opinions and the staff were friendly and helpful once they realized that. We had a blast. The owner asked what we wanted, and my friend said "make my waist tiny" so she proceeded to pull and push and declared a corset could be added. On the day of, her waist never looked smaller, the dress fit perfectly, and all the changes she asked for were perfect! My bridesmaid dress had to fit around my 38DDD boobs and be high enough in the back to cover my bra. The alterations were brilliant, I looked amazing, and so did my boobs! read more

I found my perfect wedding dress here today. We first went to David's Bridal to try on a variety of styles, but our consultant only had me try 2 different styles and wasn't much help, so I came here knowing a friend bought her dress here a few months ago. I love that all the dresses are on mannequins so you can see their shape, and they were having a huge sample sale with dresses 50-80% off their original prices (most cost $300-$1,400 plus tax). The sample sale dresses were not on mannequins though; they were on hangers inside clear bags. We originally had a 3pm appointment but when I called to see if we could come earlier because of a schedule change, they said yes and that they would accommodate us. Our consultant, Zina, was wonderful! She asked questions about my venue, what type of styles I liked, and she had me try on each type of silhouette once to help me get an idea. She also had me try on veils to go with my top 3 choices. She listened carefully to what I liked or disliked about the dresses and made sure to only show us dresses in our budget (without making us feel bad about it, as some stores can). In the end, I went a bit above budget because there was a dress I saw that I instantly loved, but that was my own choice. Zina was never pushy and always eager to help. The store owner offered us a generous discount if we bought the one I tried off the mannequin today because it was very close to my size and she knew we loved it but the original price was above our original budget. She also offered a discount on a veil and any headpiece, and gave us chocolate, gift cards to Colour Bar in Tysons, and a travel package offer with Liberty Travel. read more

This is the first bridal salon I went to for my dress. I really like how they have the dresses on mannequins instead of racks--it makes it really easy to view the dresses, and you don't have to push around 20 lb dresses on the hangers. Minus some stars for removing certain tags and telling me the designer is "J." Um, no, it's not. Prices were a bit high, too. And the girls working there seemed like high school age - they were of no assistance at all (and I had an appointment, too)! Luckily, I had 2 of my gals with me, so I was all set. An update on this place - after going to 5 additional shops, the service at White Swan was BY FAR the worst service I received anywhere. I had personalized service at every other place I went to. This place was a waste of time and the dresses were much more expensive than other shops in the area. Changing to 1 star. read more

I am SO happy I didn't listen to reviews and chose to visit White Swan Bridal when searching for my wedding dress. I ended up purchasing my dress and veil here after going to 5 different boutiques between Virginia Beach and Northern Virginia. Working with them was almost so easy that it seemed a little too good to be true. 1) I was able to negotiate the price of my dress with them (it didn't take much, trust me I'm not a good negotiator) and was able to get it $300.00 cheaper here than all of the other boutiques I had visited. Also, they originally didn't have the dress I was looking for at their boutique and so they ordered it for me. 2) The price of my dress INCLUDED unlimited alterations (not including bustle). This came useful as I got my dress altered twice. 3) The owner was very honest with me. Some may not appreciate this (she can be a little blunt), but I did since I often had to come in alone for fittings being that my family and close friends live 3 hours away. She helped me make a decision on which jewelry to wear (I brought in 2 different sets of necklaces/earrings one day and tried them on with my dress) and I couldn't decide how to wear my hair, what type of veil to get... you get the picture. I was sort of a mess. And she was very honest and helpful. 4) The owner gave me a $50.00 gift card to a spa as a bridal gift. I don't know if they usually do this or if she just had one laying around and happened to give it to me? 5) Regarding the boutique itself - it isn't the fanciest boutique and they don't give you wine or anything like some other fancy ones do, buuuut they have a TON of dresses displayed on mannequins so you have an idea of how the dress is meant to look. Much easier than some that only have them in hangers. If you walk in with an idea of what you are looking for, it definitely will make the search a lot easier. read more

Brides, it's your big day and you want to feel special. BEWARE! if you want to feel special, this is not the boutique for you. I have never dealt with a business as rude and unprofessional in my life. I think they order the dresses from a wholesale Chinese website (based on the quality and sewing) and they change the tags on them. Actually, I am pretty certain they do this. The dresses felt and looked EXTREMELY cheap. What else can I say? 1. I wasn't greeted when I walked in 2. The sales people are not available unless you ask them to come help 3. No clips or undergarments 4. Rude staff, I was told one of the dresses was $5000.00 and they never let me try it on, even though I did not have a budget specified. 5. Attitude from owner once I decided I'm not buying any dress from this place. 6. Cheap, outdated dresses 7. Fitting rooms are very small, minimal mirrors, dim lighting I can go on and on, but I don't need to go any further. Just stay away from this place, as it it not a good experience. read more

Went here to help a friend pick out a wedding dress. This was the third place we went to and by far the best place. First of all, their dress collection is displayed on mannequins, instead of being stored in garment bags hung on the racks. This saves time because you already have a sense of what the dress will look like on as opposed to randomly picking dresses based only on beading, lace or other details you can discern through plastic. Second, the staff here was the most courteous and helpful. They did not only pull dresses and put them in fitting rooms for you. They gave their advice on the the different cuts, colors, and details of the dresses and their opinion of what does and does not flatter your body. At no time did they rush us. My friend was able to keep the dresses she liked on for as long as she wanted/needed. Instead of simply ordering dresses in pre-made sizes, the dresses here are ordered custom fit. So that will save over the long run on alterations. The accessories here (hair jewelry, veils) were expensive, but besides that, the dresses seemed reasonably priced. read more
