Wonderful service!! I had requested to take off a part of my dress and replace it with elastic, in which they proceeded to make my vision come true. I needed this dress for an event that was a week away and they worked so quickly, having the dress done in 4 days! Very commutative with follow up phone calls and listening to my requests. They are such wonderful people, so nice and understanding through the entire process! I would 100% recommend.

    Purple stain
    Wendy W.

My husband has been going to them for years so I brought in 2 brand new skirts to be hemmed. The women suggested that I hem them to where the knee caps end. I said I preferred my skirts to hit just slightly above the knee. When I picked up my skirts, I noticed a purple stain on one of the white skirts. I pointed it out to the owner. She looked at it and said "ohhh, yah maybe lipstick." I didn't think it was lipstick, it looked more like a liquid stain...juice maybe. I told her I wasn't happy about this because it is a brand new skirt. She said "I know." She said it was an accident. Then she started speaking agitatedly in her native language until her husband came over. He came over, looked at the stain and told me to take it to the dry cleaners, what's the problem. I shook my head (trying to stay calm and professional) and said I was concerned that it will leave a mark. He looked at my other skirt and asked it there was a stain on that one. I said no (although it was also a brand new skirt but looked like it had been rough handled and sitting crumpled on the floor). He finally told his wife to give me $10. Then he walked away with a dismissive wave signaling the issue was settled. First, what is wrong with people's refusal to apologize. It's not a sign of weakness. Whoever believes, never apologize, is conceited and arrogant. A simple sorry goes a long way. It's courteous, shows remorse, and shows empathy. Second, when I got home, I tried on the skirts. I started laughing immediately. Both skirts were hemmed below my knees... Third, I paid $80 to hem 2 skirts. Which may be reasonable for quality work but considering that she did not hem them to my specifications and returned my skirts in shoddy condition was not the service I expected. My husband has never had an issue with the clothes he brought in. And stains happen. What earned this business a 1 star review is how they dealt with the situation. It was rude and disrespectful. It would've changed my opinion entirely if they simply offered to dry clean my skirt and apologized.

The altering is good and they are professional, but I just feel this place is a little over priced sometimes.

I've come here for a bridesmaids dress two years ago and my fiancé just got his tux tailored for the wedding.

My soft cat eye top was taken in and from the front center, which changed the look of the dress and where it sat on my chest. I said it wasn't what we discussed and it changed the dress, and they suggested cutting the cat eye corners. I showed them the picture of how it was before and said to make it just that way and the next week luckily they did--it was back as it was! The hemming was just fine and done well. The bustle loops were made of a material that was like a very thin clear fishing line. I was a bit nervous about how it would hold up but I trusted it since I'm no expert. Sadly 1 of 3 bustle loops snapped before walking into the reception and a second bustle loop snapped 10 minutes into dancing. It looks so weird in pictures but it was game time and we couldn't grab a pin. It was a heavy ballgown with a cathedral train and multiple layers. Because it was just so heavy and impossible to hold up, I had to put on my outfit from the rehearsal 30 min into dancing. Luckily I had it with me, but I was so bummed because I wanted to wear it for at least half of the reception dancing! I'd come here for other tailoring because they're quick and reasonable pricing, but not for wedding dresses.

The opportunity presented itself a couple weeks ago, and they did not disappoint. I needed a tux for a wedding downtown, so I figured I would give WT a spin. Todd was very responsive via email and phone once I filled out the form, and he did some juggling to keep my appointment when I needed it. Upon arrival, he took great measurements and helped me select a fantastic tux. The tux arrived promptly and was easy to pick up and return. It was also of a fantastic quality that I received many compliments on. While returning my tux, Todd complimented the coat that I was wearing. The coat happened to be new and was in need of sleeve alterations. Todd said that he could easily take care of that. He did so to my great satisfaction in a reasonable turnaround at a price that was fantastic. TL;DR-- go see WT if you want great service and a great selection of tuxedos or other custom attire. They're well worth your time. Cheers!

Hmm, where do I start. I'd give this establishment negative zero stars if it was possible. I came…read moreto the store because a good friend (who lived in Fairfax) past away and I acquired his last suit that he purchased at William T. Clothiers, and I wanted to get it altered for me in his memory. While I was there I decided to get 4 customs shirts made, as my last tailor retired recently. The shirt measurement process was strange from the get go, the owner/tailor Todd put 2 sample shirts in the dressing room. He stated 1 was for tighter fit, and 1 was for a looser fit. But didn't tell which one was which, so I put on the closest one to me. Todd then started asking me about how I wanted the length/width and such and started to measure me. Then we started to go over shirt patterns and fabrics, and I started to pick out patterns/fabrics/cuffs/collars pretty standard stuff. BTW, once this process started I never did try on the other sample shirts and he never mentioned for me to do so. After all the measuring was finished the pricing came, and OMG it was crazy expensive! The 4 shirts came to an average of $323.75 each, wow. All of my suits, jackets, dress pants, and dress shirts in the last 20 years have been custom tailored as I am an oddly shaped person. I know custom clothing is expensive, but the most I've ever paid for a shirt was about $200, but I bit the bullet and went ahead and ordered the shirts as I need a closet refresh. After a few days I got a message that 2 of the shirt designs were not available, so I had to basically let Todd pick the new colors/designs. About 4ish weeks later my shirts were ready for pickup, I was excited to see how the expensive shirts looked. When I tried on the 4 shirts, they were so tight that I was really taken aback. It was like his tape measure or eyesight was not working properly, they were so ill fitting. So all 4 shirts had to be completely reorder, and low and behold another color/design was not available again. That makes 3 of the 4 colors/designs picked out ended up unavailable. Well I picked up the 4 shirts yesterday, 5 months after my original order/measurement. Another bothersome thing with this tailor/Todd is that I ended up in that shop approximately 8 times, and Todd was only there 2 times. He as some nice whiskey displayed in the shop, never did he offer any to me. He knew how upset I was, and didn't even have the decency to be present when I finally pick up my shirts yesterday. Do yourself a favor and stay far away from this tailor, there are so many tailors to choose from in the DC area to deal with this tailors crazy high prices, and awful customer service. The shirts are good quality, but this quality can be had for half the price.
