We had their Baked Oysters, Duck 2 Ways and signature White Radish Burger. The food was decent with reasonable price and great portion. My favorite was the duck, grilled perfectly and tender. My roommate was satisfied with the amazing burger because the patty was juicy and flavorful. However, the staff was still new and reluctant when we visited and didn't give us the menu until we asked for 3 times. They sandwich was great good flavor and great cuts of me nothing fatty (I hate biting into meat fat). The fries were perfectly fried and seasoned. The Parmesan was a nice touch. What an amazing place to have dinner! We missed happy hour but will try next time. I did go through reviews to pick the best things to try! Oysters were 3$ each and fresh tasting. Must is the burrata and radish..I could have taken the plate home! So fresh and the pesto was soo good. The short rib ravioli was delicious as well. It wasn't the short rib but the sauce that made the dish. Ceviche was very flavorful and I enjoyed the pieces of octopus in there! I would skip the mac and cheese and oxtail croquettes in favor of trying the seafood pasta that everyone raves about. Unfortunately we didn't have enough room! Will come back. There were a handful of people for seated service and a couple of folks at the bar when we came on a sleepy Sunday evening. The staff were super friendly and accommodating in revisiting a few times due to us chit chatting instead of focusing on the menu. We eventually settled on a dozen oysters, beef sliders, the white radish burger, panini, duck two ways, brussel sprouts, and the white radish mac and cheese. White Radish is a welcome addition to the neighborhood, with charming ambiance, excellent service and a delicious dinner menu. The name made me think it would be a bit more heavy on veggie options, but it's a very solid variety of steaks & burgers, pastas and seafood dishes. The menu is definitely a bit more elevated than is typical for the neighborhood, and reasonably priced for the quality of food. As of the past couple of weeks White Radish offers every possible COVID dining option-limited capacity indoor dining, outdoor dining with heat lamps and an enclosed, heated structure outside where you have the option to open a window for more airflow. We've opted for outdoor seating and the heat lamps kept us warm, but the inside is tempting because it looks very cozy and charming! Over two recent dinners we ordered oysters, duck two ways, mixed seafood tagliatelle, roasted cauliflower and chocolate chip bread pudding. I loved the seafood tagliatelle so much I had to order it again on my second visit, and the oysters and duck were also excellent. The chocolate chip bread pudding is an absolute must! I'm a dessert fanatic and it was one of my all-time favorites. The only menu item my husband found disappointing was the White Radish burger, which had raw onion instead of onion jam and didn't seem to have any bacon, although the server said it's in the burger. It was a solid burger but didn't exactly live up to the menu description. There's an extensive menu of mocktails and coffee drinks, and we really enjoyed the Blueberry Cooler, Mangorita and a cappuccino. I hope they keep these drinks on the menu when they get their liquor license, as they're really good! I was sad to see Jack and Nellie's that for, nearly a decade, occupied this space close due to the COVID pandemic (As of this writing, J&N owners still have Rove nearby), but according to another Yelper's review the owners of nearby Aged seemed to have capitalized on an opportunity opening (who opens during an apocalypse?!) White Radish soon after J&N closed. While no brunch is served, the well rounded, reasonably priced farm to table menu sure seems to already be pleasing the crowds. During my Saturday afternoon visit, the social distanced outdoor dining was fairly packed and I heard reports of lively dinner service as well. Started with some mocktails since they don't have a liquor license atm - Mojito and hibiscus iced tea. The shrimp and scallop app come with two each - extra jumbo shrimp and large scallops both perfectly cooked and delicious left me wanting more. Got a half dozen of the Blue Points since the Beausoleil ones weren't available. They were plump, fresh and delicious with mignonette, cocktail sauce and lemon accompaniment. The duck two ways was simply fantastic - sliced med well (They don't ask, but if you like it less cooked then remember to request it) duck breast with crispy skin and fall off the bone duck leg served with roasted beets and sweet potatoes. The short rib ravioli were large, truffle cream sauce covered, generous stuff pillows - very tasty and satisfying. Since it comes with 4, I recommend getting this as a shareable dish. All and all a great experience from a place that recently opened. I would say to Jack and Nellie fans (of their non-brunch menu) to give them a shot and you might find White Radish fairly similar, but with some interesting innovations to the food that they are bringing to the table. read more

Forest Hills was craving a restaurant like White Radish, which is obvious based on them filling their seats. They have a nice set-up outside, with tables at the street being covered and more uncovered tables on the sidewalk. The staff was very friendly and reservations are suggested since it was at capacity on a Saturday night. Currently they do not serve alcohol but have some nice mocktails. The Hibiscus Tea was delicious and the Blueberry Cooler is on the sweet side which a nice kick of ginger. We started off with the Oxtail Croquettes, which were delicious. Crispy with a creamy inside and wonderful flavor. For entrees we opt'd for the Branzino and the Duck. The Branzino is served whole so takes a little work to eat, but it was cooked well and served with a large salad, a lovely enjoyable warm weather meal. The Duck 2 Ways was very good served with some roasted sweet potato and beets. I agree with a previous poster that the breast felt a bit over cooked, I would have preferred it more rare, but it was very good nonetheless. We also opt'd for couple of sides, the cauliflower in an almond butter sauce was lovely and the potatoes au gratin were wonderfully comforting. We figured we'd go all out and try dessert too and the Chocolate Chip Bread Pudding did not disappoint; served warm, it was decadent and divine. Compared to restaurants with similar menus, the prices aren't bad. It may be more expensive versus other local restaurants, but makes sense for what it is. read more

White Radish is the new kid in town, and they could not have arrived at a better or much needed time when so many of the other restaurants have become stale and complacent. From the service (our server Emory was top notch) to the ambience (the lighting was perfect, the tables inviting and nicely distanced) to the food (OMG ... the calamari and burrata were divine) was stellar. It's hard to believe they opened as fast as they did, having seen them building out the outside seating area -- or that they managed to bring an entirely new life and energy to the spot that housed local favorite Jack & Nelle's for so long (until it shuttered due to the pandemic.) But they did, and in doing so, the owners -- who also run local staple Aged a few blocks away -- have brought new life to a quiet block of "Austin Street." The menu has fierce offerings of farm to table food from salmon, duck and Branzino to a NY Strip and filet. That they are serving Beausoleil oysters is a huge win in my book. Just ordered a sushi roll from White Radish restaurant and inside one of the roll pieces i found two pieces of glass that thankfully I didn't swallow and spit out in time. When I contacted the restaurant, they basically told me that they don't use glass in the restaurant (which is ridiculous and bs) and told me to ask for a refund through seamless. They also said that's it, and bye bye. This is really shitty service for a repeat customer, we've been ordering and going to them for years and this will be the last time we ever order and go there. The service is shitty for someone finding two pieces of glass in their food and extremely dangerous! Eater beware! read more

Really sketchy. Went on a Fri at about 2pm for lunch. Their signature on the menu was not available! Was told that the kitchen that makes it was closed. Also, there was a party of 4 at another table. Three of them were just served the burger! When I asked the wait staff, I was told that the order was made before that kitchen closed. Many other issues also, but we should have been told what was not available and to only select from sushi menu. Yes, we should have left. The food we ordered was a Japanese chicken noodle dish, tasteless and with microscopic bits of chicken. However, the sushi burger dish was surprisingly good. My lovely mother-in-law adores cheeseburgers and friendly atmospheres. For her 75th birthday, I purchased a $75 gift certificate at this restaurant. It was a very easy process...I signed the documents in their record book and I paid cash. In good faith of this neighborhood establishment, I happily presented this certificate to her as a gift on her birthday. Today, two weeks later, my in-laws visited to enjoy a nice meal. When it came time to pay, their total was approximately $50. When they presented the $75 gift certificate, they were informed that they would have to use the full amount or lose the difference. The waiter explained to them that these "rules" were absolutely explained to the purchaser, when in reality they were not even touched on. In order to not waste money that was rightfully theirs to spend, they were unexpectedly forced to pay cash out of pocket. They arrived expecting to utilize and enjoy the full value of their gift certificate in celebration of a milestone birthday, but they left confused and embarrassed by this ordeal. It is unfortunate that a local establishment would employ inconsiderate and illegal practices when it comes to our hard-earned money, particularly in this economy. I've been to WR several times. For appetizers my friend and I had the "Shrimp and Scallops" and the "Charred Octopus". For entrees we had the White Radish Burger and Duck 2 ways. No issues with the food at all and our server was friendly and attentive. I removed 1 star from their rating because the prices are a bit high in my opinion. The total tab for food, drinks and tip came out to almost $190. That's enough to buy 2 weeks of groceries. at least for me. Unfortunately the prices will most likely keep me from coming back anytime soon. read more

Ordered the octopus and pork appetizers, the short rib pasta for our main, followed by the chocolate chip bread pudding. Pork was ok but the octopus? The octopus was the real prize. Tender, flavorful - even the beans that came with it were great. Short rib pasta was good as well. I don't know why I assumed it was going to be in more of a red sauce, so when it came out with a white sauce I almost sent it back...but I'm glad I didn't. Ahh so good. My mom and I went here for lunch after my second covid dose. We got seated right away and the ambiance was too cute. We started with a crab Caesar salad to split. Nice and light with huge chunks of crab. It is a very traditional Caesar dressing with anchovy (which I LOVE). We both got the lobster rolls after. The lobster meat was fresh and delicious and the chips were really good too. The only complaint was it was just a lot of bread. Like I wound up only eating the meat out of the second because the rolls were a lot but thats a personal preference. So glad to have checked this "new" restaurant in Forest Hills! I had seen a lot of good reviews and had wanted to try it out. Inside the restaurant, the tables have been spaced out accordingly (with also outdoor dining available); we received temperature check and left our information for contact tracing. One of the things that stood out to us was how polite all of the staff were, from showing us our table, to providing us the menu, to answering our questions, and to responding any miscellaneous request we had. 100% service! We ordered mussels, charred octopus, blue point oysters, and white radish burger. Of all the dishes we ordered, there was not one dish I didn't enjoy! The octopus was tender and juicy in the middle, blue point oyster was surprisingly fresh with no sand whatsoever in the oyster so we were definitely surprised. Loved the white radish burger - this is one of the few places where "medium rare" is actually medium rare. Cutting into the burger (since it was so huge), I could see the red juicy meat, as opposed to going to many burger places where medium rare becomes medium, so I definitely appreciate the quality control. I highly recommend getting the burger, the food is well portioned (if not over portioned because I wasn't able to finish), with grilled brioche, lettuce, tomato, onion jam, aioli, and crispy fries. I've been here several times before but this time I came solo for a nice quiet afternoon to just unwind and chill on a Friday afternoon after a morning massage. The oysters were fresh (came specific for oysters and is the only restaurant in Forest Hills with raw oysters), the charred octopus was tender and tasty the beans and tomato added a nice mouthful flavor. Since these were both appetizers and I waited awhile for the dishes it would have been nice to bring one out at a time as I had to eat the octopus first since it was hot and I didn't want it to get cold. Service was good, I made a reservation for 12pm when they open except I had to walk around the neighborhood as the staff was not in yet. A bit disappointed. I scheduled a take out order and picked it up myself at the restaurant. Unsure if it was the owner or head waiter but he was very unfriendly, barely said hi, didn't give a smile, didn't tell me how much I owed, just took my card and ran it to the machine. Didn't say hello, goodbye or thank you... even though they seemed busy with indoor dining, I expect the restaurant to be friendly! The Burrata appetizer was the best in my meal. Fresh, the beet around it was refreshing, the fresh cherry tomatoes and hint of pesto were the perfect balance Meatballs - only 2 meatballs. Would rather have 3-4 smaller ones than 2 big ones. They were super super dense and not moist inside. The tomato sauce was nice and light, a bit creamy. The meat was hard to cut into though and basically over cooked cause the balls were so big, you have to overlook it in order for the center not to be raw... Potato au gratin - too much liquid cream, not enough Parmesan cheese on top having grilled. Potatoes were thinly sliced but it the dish was too creamy with liquid cream rather than thick and cheesy on top. I will say eating it hot does help so make sure you're heating it up if you do takeout. The sauce is creamy/buttery but more liquid. Overall, disappointed by the lack of friendliness/care for customers upon entering the restaurant to pick up and take out. Food was good. I recommend the burrata appetizer. We have been to WR a few times now and I have to say this is a necessary spot in Forest Hills. In a neighborhood that is predominantly bars/restaurants is a welcome change from the bar snack menus. When it first opened I believe that we made reservations the same week. And what an event that was. It was of course outdoor dining. And I think it was incredibly risky to open during the pandemic but obviously it has worked for them. We have ordered quite a few different items on the menu. Here is a list: PORK BELLY pickled vegetables, shaved carrots, parsnip 9.5/10 Delicious I only wish there was more of it!! OYSTERS 10/10 Very fresh. CALAMARI spicy peppers, sweet chili sauce -- grilled -- crispy 7/10 Pretty much ordinary CRAB CAKE orange citrus aioli 9/10 delicious! the aioli was very flavorful BOSTON WEDGE blue cheese dressing, crumbled blue cheese 8 house-cut slab bacon 10/10 large portion that could be an entree. Definitely get the bacon slab! RADISHES & BURRATA watermelon radish, burrata, cherry tomato, dry tomato, pesto, olive oil 10/10 delicate and the burrata was very fresh, it had an airiness about it. WHITE RADISH BURGER 50% beef, 50% applewood bacon, white cheddar, onion jam, garlic aioli, lettuce, tomato, brioche, fries 7/10 nothing special about this burger DUCK TWO WAYS roasted beets, sweet potato, orange sauce 25/10 absolutely one of my favorite dishes from WR. Make sure you tell the server the temperature that you want the duck to be. FILET MIGNON / 8 OZ tenderloin 10/10 delicious, tender, and you could get away with using only a butterknife to cut this filet. SHORT RIBS RAVIOLI truffle cream sauce 10/10 the sauce is the key point in this dish. the portions of the ravioli are perfect too. ORANGE CAKE 7/10 this dessert was decent. nothing spectacular SALTED CARAMEL BUDINO 8/10 pretty tasty ( I told you we have dined there a few times LOL) The service is always fantastic.
