No soft pillowy bun which is what like from other burger joints. Maybe my mistake was that I should have ordered a specialty burger. The waiters and waitresses and even the kitchen stuff were nice and accommodating. It doesn't have all the liquors available though. And the cocktail we selected, they didn't have or couldn't make. There's a dining area and separate bar area. Different ambience in each room, less lighting in the bar area vs more lighting in the dining area. First time trying Bareburger and, unfortunately, I wasn't a fan of the burger. I liked the option of customizing a burger and adding as many veggies as you want. They definitely piled the veggies on, which I appreciated. However, the beef patty was not great texturally. There seemed to be an issue with consistency, three of us ordered the same burger cooked medium rare but our burgers were cooked with different levels of doneness. One was perfectly medium rare, one was very rare, and mine was in between with some parts that were rare. The rare parts felt (and looked) too much like raw ground beef, tasted mushy. It wasn't a big deal though because it was still edible. If I come back here, I would probably just order medium to be on the safe side. What actually ruined the patty for me was the chewy, rubbery gristle. The other burgers didn't have as much but mine had gristle in nearly every bite. Thankfully, the brioche bun and veggies kind of made up for the meat. The onion rings were really fried and super crunchy; they almost looked burnt. It was a little too fried for me but I still enjoyed it. The spicy barbecue sauce was really good and had a tiny kick. I preferred the spicy barbecue sauce to the garlic aioli. The aioli was too thick so I liked combining the two sauces. The fries were basic chain restaurant fries, crispy and fluffy. I would be happy with ordering either fries or onion rings again. I've been craving a smashburger for a minute, and since Forest Hills is still waiting for the greatly anticipated 7TH STREET!!, I searched smash burgers, and Bareburger came up. They have a whole section of their menu dedicated to smash burgers and various options, so I figured this would be a good choice to hold me over. It was not. I'm not sure how you can sell smash burgers while demonstrating you don't even know what a smash is. Should be thin, crispy around the edges, which leads to a cooked through burger. What I received was basically raw, no caramelized edges, and zero taste anywhere. I tried the regular and the truffle. The truffle wasn't even in the room with me, but it did have about 50 huge mushrooms. Just call it a mushroom burger at that point, because truffles and mushrooms are NOT even remotely the same, and are they are not interchangable, so basically false advertising to use the word "truffle" as your burger's name. I had to take all of them off because there were just so many, they were so big, and didn't taste great. There was not even one pepper flake or one salt crystal added to season the beef. Literally tasteless. I upgraded one burger to a meal and got a side salad and water, the salad stating on the menu that it came with green goddess dressing. For almost $30, I got: a tasteless burger, a raw burger, a salad with not dressing, but rotting lettuce pieces instead. Huge disappointment to have given almost $30 to this place. What is even the point of serving people food like this? It only ensures a lost customer. read more

It's a fairly large spot along Austin Street, when you walk there's a big bar area (where you can also eat), and the dining room with tables and booths is on the other side, separated by a wall. To my surprise, it came as a double patty, which made it a lot of food. I finished the burger but only managed a couple of fries. The burger was tasty, though not as crispy as a typical smash burger, but still enjoyable. The restaurant was pretty busy, and service was a bit slow, but my server was helpful whenever he came by. My daughter and I had dinner there on a cold and windy night. The place has plenty of seating and there wasn't a lot of people on a Wednesday night. We were told to sit anywhere and a friendly waiter handed us some menus and brought us water and some popcorn. The menu has changed a little since last week came. There is now an option to get the burger on a bed of lettuce. I got the elk burger with blue cheese, kale, and an egg. My daughter got the standard burger medium well done without the pickles. Her burger was simple but full of flavor. It was a solid burger. My elk burger was done medium and it was very juicy. If you had told me it was a hamburger instead of an elk burger I would have never thought it was elk. There was a slight gaminess but the blue cheese hid it well. Came here for dinner a few times. The service is always REALLY spotty. I feel like it takes forever for someone to take your order and they never come back and check on you. My brother ordered a burger and it had a hair in it and the server replaced it, but didn't seem apologetic or fazed by it at all. The food here is standard, nothing special but nothing bad either. The happy hour seems amazing. I might check that out and sit at the bar and perhaps there is going to be better service there, but I don't think I would recommend eating here. The turkey was definitely the better of the two, especially with a extra side of garlic aioli. However, like the last visit, their beef burger just lacks flavor. Maybe it simply needs more salt to bring out the beefiness, but it pales in comparison to Shake Shack across the street. With that said, their bison and elk burgers are all quite yummy from previous visits. The fried pickles are a good appetizer and goes well with the burgers. Came here for lunch. We got seated almost immediately. Each table is pretty isolated and separated by these large plastic separator. Because of COVID, they only offer individual portion sizes. I got the Wrangler and a side of fries, which was a hefty meal for lunch. The burger was great, with plenty of toppings. The only criticism I have is that my medium rare burger was definitely well done, making the burger a bit dry.
