    Lamb Over Rice
    Samantha F.

Decided to give this spot a try because of a Door Dash deal. We were really glad we did! Great food! We ordered the Lamb over rice plate and the Philly. The lamb plate came STUFFED with meat and full of flavor. For my two sides I choose hummus and salad. Both were really good. Salad was fresh and hummus tastes homemade. The Philly was totally full of meat. Good flavor. Definitely worth the cost. We will be back! The location is easy to find. The service was adequate and we were greeted but they do work quickly. The place is small but clean and seems to be well equipped. Give them a try!

First of all for you non New Yorkers, you have to know we thrive on bodegas and cheap chicken joints. We like our food fast and we like our food on the go. A place like this is perfect to us. You walk in, order your food, pay for it and leave. Don't expect to sit. There aren't any seats. And that is okay. We keep it moving in the city. Whether consciously a subconsciously, I always survey the cleanliness of a place before I even before I look at the menu. Smash n grill is brightly lit and very clean. Again you will not find any seating and most of the real estate is taken up by the long counter. Behind the counter you will find some drink choices there's a dessert display and of course the grill. I saw many options of chicken fish and burgers. I decided to get the chicken Philly cheese steak. The Philly cheese steak sandwich is $9.99. I opted to upgrade for 4.99 more which gives you french fries and a canned soda. I don't drink soda so I was hoping for Seltzer water. He didn't have any. Sammy took my order behind the counter. Typical New Yorker. Not a lot of eye contact and very short on his answers. A visitor maybe taking back. For us it's a love language. From start to finish my order took about 15 minutes to get delivered to me. In that time patrons came in and out. Sammy was very personable and even knew some by name. One guy came in and he asked him if he wanted the shrimp. Clearly a regular and it feels good that the man behind the counter knows your order. The food came out and I sat in my car to eat. I had about an hour before shooting a music video so I got comfortable. I got barbecue sauce and smash sauce on the side as recommended by Sammy. Now keep in mind again, this is New York City. There are places like this every couple of blocks. I wasn't expecting much. I was pleasantly surprised. That Philly cheese steak was piping hot. I had to wait for it to cool to even eat it. But when I was able to bite in, it was full of flavor. It was not bland at all. A nice mix of meat and cheese and that bread was as soft as a pillow. There was also an ample amount of french fries and a separate container. The outside of the fried potato was very crispy, the inside was light and fluffy. There is a fast food restaurant that has fries like this but I cannot think of who. Maybe it's Checkers. It's a delightful and pleasant bite, but I would prefer whole potato french fries. This sits in a area that has a lot of West Indian stores and food. So smash n grill stands out as a viable option. I would eat here again. Maybe next video shoot

Situated right across from my apartment, this is the perfect place for a quick fast food option. They're halal, the staff is super chill and accomodating, and the store is spacious enough to not make you feel claustrophobic. That's uncommon for Brooklyn. You will wait if you walk in, so if you're carrying out, I'd suggest ordering in advance. They cook everything made to order, so the wait isn't bad. The food itself is pretty damn good. I'm stuck on the fried fish, but I've had a few items, from wings to the smash burgers. They have Hershey ice cream as well, which is creamy and delicious. Food hack: they can toss your fish or shrimp in Buffalo sauce if you want to lock things up a notch.

This place makes food that will ruin your day!!! My cousins and I came here because it was the only thing open late at night - we should've starved. I got the tender combo... NO FLAVOR, NO SEASONING! The fries have no crunch WHATSOEVER! The chicken has no seasoning, WHATSOEVER. The breading on the chicken was a disgrace. If I were a chicken, I'd be PISSED if this was how my life ended. My cousin got the Diablo jalapeno burger, you woulda thought she had OG Covid the way she couldn't taste the burger. The jalapeños in the burger were the only thing providing flavor. Meat, UNSEASONED. Buns, NOT SAUCED. FRIES LIMP AF!!!! The best part of our meals were the Minute Maid lemonades we got! A waste of time, money and hunger. So thanks smash-n-grill, you did a great job of ****ing up my day! Save your money and don't eat here.

A new delicious spot close to home! I hate to compare to The Munchies, but that's the reason I stopped by. The interior is very similar - bright lights, no seating, simple menu. Smash-n-Grill is a bit bigger inside and has more room for guests to wait. The menu is easy to read. But I think where this place is different is the smash burger and the ice cream offerings. I didn't try either of them because I wanted to compare the fried chicken sandwich to The Munchies. Similar in price, we got the fried chicken hero combo. It took a while to get the order, but it is expected at a new establishment. It also didn't matter because it was delicious. The chicken was juicy and seasoned well. The amount of fries are the same, but I found these to stay crunchier than The Munchies. This place is closer to me (not by much) so I'll be trying more when I'm feeling like eating some fresh, yummy food. The customer service was also great! Welcome to the neighborhood Smash-N-Grill! CASH DISCOUNT TOO!

Let's start with the good - the service and ambiance were on point. I went on a Sunday evening around 7pm. It was busy inside, but since I was a solo diner I was seated immediately by the bar. The servers were friendly and attentive. Probably 3-4 different people checked in multiple times throughout the meal. Where I struggle is with the actual burger itself. As a non-resident New Yorker, for me $22.50 is a lot to spend on a burger and fries. It needs to rock my world at that price point. And it just didn't. I got the B&B Burger. The onion ring tasted like it had been refried a second time to make my burger. The bread was crumbly like it was on the verge of going stale. The actual beef patty itself was decent - good flavor. Usually I can overlook an okay burger if the fries are top notch, but these fries were under-seasoned and also 'just okay'. I also got a side of Chicken Tenders. These were good - no complaints here. I really wanted to like this spot, but not sure this would be a return visit for me.

Friendly waitress greeted us and sat us immediately. Menu's came out and they recommended a pizza and burger. We agreed and ordered. Place started to pick up and get busy immediately after we ordered. Food came out pretty quickly. We each had a burger. Not a lot of options on the menu but we all tried the emily burger. It was worth it. Think, juicy and with an amazingly unique taste. The ingredients were high quality, the burger cooked to perfection. The table also split the modern pizza (I think). Not sure what to expect from this one but turns out it was perfect, unique and delicious. The cheese taste really shined through. Overall, we were super happy with the food here. Stop by if you have a chance.

Today however it wasn't pizza that brought me here, it was the famous Emmy Burger. To begin with the atmosphere of the restaurant is dim lighting a few tables with a reasonable sized bar in the middle of the room. They also have an open kitchen concept where just past the bar you can see the cooks working. My server Inda was polite and knowledgeable about the menu. My burger was excellent, normally I don't eat my burger with a knife and folk, but in this case with all the cheese and sauce oozing down the sides, not to mention the caramelized onions, it was necessary. (If I were home I wouldn't mind having burger juices running down my arm, but other people were eating in the restaurant also). The tiny pickles which I can't remember the name of were an added treat to the burger. I decided to order mine with the loaded fries. Just imagine the ground burger with all the toppings covering french fries and add melted white cheese. Since I was alone I didn't order a pizza because how would I eat it all, but next time I will try the pizza. I don't mind paying extra for a burger when it's aged beef and the taste is great. I definitely recommend this location. There is a fast food burger restaurant next door to Emily's but I can't imagine there burgers compare. I will try them another time and let you know. That's all for now, see you on my next review.

Both restaurants have been in business for well over half a century with well-deserved accolades. Despite having grown up in Brooklyn, I hadn't been to either before this year. I read reviews and actually asked ChatGPT what to order at R-N-R. We went with its suggestion: medium roast beef with cheese, onion rings, root beer and lemonade. My sandwich was more well-done than requested. They don't offer 'rare'. The few bites with red meat were infinitely better than the rest of the sandwich. The roll, as everyone points out, is baked in house. Though light and puffy, it didn't outweigh overdone beef. Onion rings were great, root beer average, and lemonade -- per my husband who loves lemonade -- excellent. While I wouldn't balk about returning, my vote goes to Brennan and Carr, though truly, when cooked as requested there is no substantial difference. If you take the train, get off at Sheepshead Bay Road and head south. Turn left at Emmons Avenue and keep walking. Twenty minutes all told.

The bun is soft and sweet and the burger has a good amount of sautéed mushrooms. Truffle Parmesan fries were pretty standard, but still very good. Yuzu honey lemonade has bits of citrus at the bottom of the drink and it was refreshing. I saved the chicken bites hours later and it was still pretty crispy after being microwave. The taste of their burgers is different from most of the burger places I have tried before. I have also ordered Yuzu Honey Lemonade. I was trying to taste the honey in the lemonade. I guess I was expecting too much. The drink was refreshing. I may try the Matcha Yuzu Lemonade next. I met a gentleman who goes by the name Ten P aka 10pushups on IG. He recommended that I try his cola shake. That is what I got, plus the whipped cream. I was honestly looking for the taste of Coca-Cola because Cola is in the name.
