I love my castle because they have small portions and very reasonable prices for a quick fix while you're driving or when you don't wanna cook and you wanna eat great fast food that we know is not healthy for you, but it is a lot of fun. I love that they have fish, nibblers and fish sliders in addition to hamburgers and the impossible burger, which is vegetarian. I'm sad that the clam strips went away. But they do have mozzarella sticks and onion rings and french fries, and cheesy tater tots, for example. This location has open and free ample parking and you can also order through the drive-through window. It was lovely that they gave a generous portion of each item that I ordered. First time going to a White Castle and it did not live up to the hype. I should have figured as I walked in and didn't see any customers. Next thing I noticed was employees in the kitchen wearing pajamas. I had to ask for someone to take my order. After placing my order it was hard to find a clean table as you can see from the pictures. The next issue was the coke machine only having three options. I asked the girl behind the register if they had more drink options at the other machine used for drive thru and she responded with "I don't know". I was at the White Castle on Addison and Elston and I just want to say that they had a ton of business, and for these kids being nothing but teenagers and in their early 20s, they handled the ignorant customers very well. People were getting frustrated because they were waiting. The young man who helped me out had dreads. I don't know his name, but he deserves some kind of recognition or maybe a raise because he was very polite, very patient with me, and made sure that he checked my bag before he gave it to me that I had everything I wanted. In Southern California, I coined a term, LA Disease for the foods that leave me with a bout of Liquid Ass. For White Castle, and White Castle alone, I'm coining the term, WC Disease; for Wet Crack. After my visit to White Castle, the sliders that slid right out of me, left that wet residue, you know where. TMI? Deal with it. So, White Castle was my first food stop in Chicago. It had been many, many years since the last time I jammed those bite sized burgers down into my gut. I was looking forward to the experience for months and months, only to find them just OK in my book. It's probably due to the fact that I don't really east fast food anymore as I'm not into the heavy grease that these patties were cooked in. So much so that the buns were wet and soggy. I could see over the counter and watch the cooking process as my order of 20 sliders was being prepared. Mixed them up, with and without cheese. Preferred the ones without cheese as it's just plain American cheese. Couldn't really taste the difference anyway - just gave it a different texture. This wasn't so much a bucket list item for me as much as it was just the chance to have something I can't have every day; sort of like In-N-Out here on the West Coast. Guess my eating habits have changed over the years because these sliders I was dying for, was just ok. 5 stars for the morning crew!!! I have only frequented this White Castle location in the mornings on the way to work. And from this location I have only ordered breakfast items. That being said, I love the ladies that are here in the mornings!!! They are so cute and super friendly and just nice. If I wasn't always going through the drive thru I'd want to give them a hug. They have never gotten my order wrong and I have no complaints. Way to go White Castle for making great breakfast. You can really taste that the egg is freshly cooked in any of the breakfast sliders, unlike other fast food places that use boxed eggs or fake eggs or whatever crap that is. If you have never had the breakfast menu items I highly recommend them. Even my friends who are anti-fast food love the sliders. Entertaining tired & hungry guests. So when we got "The Crave" we decided to give delivery a try! Delivery was impressively fast! Unfortunately the friendly driver brought our food in an old greasy tote bag. Then he handed me our food in three bare, wet, disintegrating paper bags that were not stapled, sealed or protected in any way. Have they ever heard of plastic bags? MINUS ONE STAR for that alone! The sliders are as good as always and now they offer Impossible sliders so my vegetarian spouse can experience the awesomeness of a sack or sliders. Crinkle cut fries are also a nice addition and I was impressed that they offer some chicken slider options now also. read more

White Castle is also another one of my guilty pleasures. I am so glad that there is one that is somewhat close to home back in Chicago; it seems as if a stand-alone White Castle is very rare! The Original Slider is delicious, and you can add cheese in them if you would like (as there are Double Cheese Sliders as well). It comes with 100% beef hamburger, steam-grilled, and has some onions and a pickle on top in a soft bun. I dip mine in ketchup! These sandwiches are small and you can definitely eat a good handful of them! There are also Chicken Breast Sliders, Fish Sliders, and Chicken Ring Sliders as well, but I always stick with the Original. The fries are crinkle-cut, and they have Coke products. The location had went under a massive renovation since the last time I was here. The place is very modern with the exposed duct work and the openness of the kitchen and the dining area. Very cool. Placing the order of a Chicken Sandwich Combo plus an order of the Mozzarella Cheese Sticks was pretty painless. My friend had ordered Shrimp and Fries. Then were able to find a table - it was 1pm in the middle of the week. Shortly, our names were called meaning to come back to the counter to retrieve your food. We came here not because of "the crave" but because everyone says that "White Castle is the In N Out of the East Coast". I'm sorry but it is not! California does not have a White Castle. Whenever we are in Chicago, we look for one. We love them. This is the ultimate junk food. They are little tiny, super thin meat patties on a small bun. Some people buy them by the bag. I do. If you have had them in the frozen section of your market they are so much better at a White Castle before they are frozen. They just are not the same. They have coffee, fries and drinks. The service is fast because the menu is small. You wait in line for your food and then eat there or take home.
