I've been eating Papa Ray's for a couple of years but it was at the location that is now closed, on Sheridan in Uptown. I was happy to discover another location. The service was very nice and the guy ringing us up was helpful. The restaurant was clean with a nice amount of seating. They have slot machines, which is taking me a while to get used to seeing inside of Chicago restaurants and stores. I'm a lover of ribs and unfortunately these didn't do it for me, like the ones I used to love at the Uptown location. The ribs were just okay, a few tough pieces. The sauce was burnt so the flavor wasn't good. My husband liked the wings and my kids loved the pizza. I may give the ribs another try before I say I wouldn't recommend. I've been coming to this spot since 2016 -- that's nine years of loyalty. Back then, their suicide wings were unbelievably spicy and so worth the drive. Over the years, though, both the flavor and the service have gone downhill, and this past Saturday night really confirmed it. My grandma is visiting from out of town and wanted these wings one last time before she left, so we made the 40-minute drive. I even placed my order 20 minutes before arriving, thinking it would be ready or close to ready. When we got there, the lady at the counter told me it'd be about 15 minutes, which I understood -- but 15 minutes turned into over 35 minutes, while people who ordered after me got their food first. When I asked about my order, the cashier tried to get the cooks' attention, but they completely ignored her. She apologized and said it might take another 15 minutes. Frustrated, I went up to the cooks myself, and one of them told me my food would be ready in about three minutes. So I waited again. While I was talking with my grandma about how disappointed I was, a man nearby (who I thought was just a regular customer) overheard and asked what was wrong. I told him I'd ordered a while ago and was still waiting. Not long after that, my food finally came out -- but there was no apology, no acknowledgment for the delay, and no accountability. After driving 40 minutes each way and waiting over 30 minutes in-store, it felt like they'd forgotten my order altogether. To top it off, the wings just aren't the same anymore -- not spicy, not fresh, and honestly not worth the drive. I never thought I'd say this after nine years, but I'm really disappointed in how much this place has changed. LOL but I ordered a supreme slice of pizza, which I steadily questioned them how on earth were they going to make a slice of pizza that was already made into supreme. Furthermore, Papa has a slice of chocolate cake for $6 that has no business being as good as it is. It is moist and chocolaty with frosting that is not at all cloying and sweet. A decadent and insanely rich dessert, it is big enough for 4 servings, unless you are an irredeemable chocoholic. And if you are, believe me, that's OK - this is a judgment free review. I order from here a lot and every time I order for delivery something is always wrong with my pizza. When you go in store your food is alway right but once you order for delivery it's like they just don't care for their customers who order online. They wonder why I do not tip. Just look at the picture I uploaded. Horrible. When I called in to complain the girl who answered the phone had me on hold for 15 minutes and then I finally got to talk to a manager. Turned out to be a decent decision. I ordered the rib tips with fries. Tips were good with a tangy sauce. I was happy with my choice of ordering the fries well done. I hate soggy fries and they arrived perfectly crisped but not burnt. I also ordered the cheese bread which was just ok, nothing spectacular even though I added asiago cheese and bacon to it. For late night grub, it's as good as it gets. There aren't many fast food hubs that will do rib tips and still, do them well. Their food is decent though not consistent. I'm not sure why. Sometimes it's pretty damn good and other times it's passable. A pizza slice and a drink are the often combo, the drink is free and the cost is affordable. The size is much like a NY size slice or the size of a small pizza since that's the size of box that contains it. Service: The guys at the check counter are informative and relatable. But when grabbing food for takeout, if busy, always check your food. A previous experience left me clueless. I ordered by phone and upon entering found out that my food was given to some guys that ordered (inside) before me and somehow I got their food. The guys that work the food counter don't speak English as a first language and sometimes mix up orders..... Since there are numbers on the check, I don't get why this happens? For a place with the "late night" designation, it's pretty damn nice inside. Most locations are kept pretty clean. This is a bigger location, than some of its sister sites. Many of these Papa's are decorated the same with nice full size color photos of foods served. Decorative counter-tops that look like it could be knock-off granite or recycled material. Even the seating is ample, new looking and comfortable enough. It's hard to miss this address at night since its got a ton of neon lighting luring your eyes into their storefront. Late nights can be strange out here since there are a number of transients walking about asking for handouts. This is where the free drink comes handy, I don't drink soda so this becomes the easy handout. read more

I usually never have issues with the food. I have found hairs in my pizza a couple of times but today I'm very upset. I found the longest hair I ever seen.
