Cute place, super friendly service, food was gross. Typical mass produced institutional crap. Burger looked okay. Fish was a slimy gross flakes between the fried breading. At least the grease was clean but there was little fish and a lot of grease. The lady in the kitchen looked sweet and authentic.........so why the institutional gross food? Sysco products? I think this country has lost what real food tastes like based on other reviews. read more

Stopped Labor Day for breakfast 1st time! Cute little cafe on side 61 with fantastic food! Wait staff was very attentive and kept the coffee cup full and our food was outstanding, 3 egg Omlet with hashbrowns done perfectly, and 2 All American Breakfast with sour dough toast. This place is perfect! Ambiance is cute, service was excellent, food is tasty! Stopped in on a Friday afternoon on our way up north. We were greeted right away by our server and told to sit anywhere. We ordered the cowboy burger, patty melt, and Reuben. All were delicious! I'd recommend the patty melt for sure. For dessert we split a slice of the peanut butter pie - AMAZING. I am so surprised by the positive reviews... I was looking for a place along the route between Duluth and Minneapolis. Hinckley is a great stopping point and I went out of my way to find a place less know than the legendary Tobies. This cafe is clean and cute inside BUT had to take off the stars for the actual food. Let's just say everything we had was below average and the Reuben sandwich I had was purely inedible. I guess it's my bad for ordering an "exotic" food for central MN but it was on the menu... I don't know what it was that I was served but surely not corned beef that goes on a Reuben. Then we thought "maybe this is a breakfast place?" but sadly my daughter's eggs were rubbery, thin and bland, so there goes that theory! read more

A restaurant that makes food that is like home cooking, and not fast food microwaved junk. Delicious food as the cook really knows how to cook. Prices are very reasonable as well. Definitely be back next time we are in town. read more

Tucked away from Tobies in Hinkley on the west side of interstate 35. Interesting daily specials & ones to go with as opposed to the biscuits & gravy- which was on the bland from a mix side. Consider taking in some of the local businesses as you leave the restaurant- a wide variety of second hand stores. read more

Fabulous service. We had to wait a bit for a table but it was soo worth it. Im a Cole Slaw fan and Whistle Stop had some of the best I have found. Stopped in because of Yelp reviews. We were planning on doing Toby's for breakfast but found this little gem instead. Ordered the #5 with sausage gravy and it was outstanding. The gravy had chunks of sausage and the sausage paddies that laid on top of the crispy hash browns and under a blanket of scrambled eggs were awesome. Some of the best sausage I've had. The place isn't large and has minimal seating with one server. Yet, the one server could handle it all. What a great experience and I suggest to all. read more

Best place in Hinckley for a great breakfast! Our group of four was very happy - and very full! The Smokestack is delicious - and huge ... the Eggs Benedict was gigantic and so good, served on a bed of hash browns. The All American and Conductor were excellent as well. What a lovey little place. I'm a full grown alpaca, so I could definitely feel the charm of this tiny small town cafe. If you come during a busy time, expect every booth and table to be in use. Tired of only oats and grass, I went big and ordered the cowboy burger, and I have to tell you, the bacon on said meat patty sandwich was possibly the best bacon I've had out to eat, not flat and over cooked like so much restaurant bacon, but wavy and full of texture. I just hope it wasn't a pig I knew. Have to give a shout to Monica our server, she was awesome. She went away from our table humming a little tune, just like the lady who shears me does. read more

We decided to skip the usual places along the I-35 exit and drive into town, and we are glad we did. Friendly service and delicious food.

If you blink you might miss this gem! But the food is so amazing! Their eggs Benedict are the best I've ever had and I know my eggs Benedict! I've gone here a couple times for breakfast when I've visited my parents, and each time it was excellent. Delicious diner comfort food in VERY generous portions for reasonable prices. Cozy and cute space. Fantastic service. Our server, Monica, was so sweet and attentive even though she was the only waitress and the restaurant was pretty busy (and she had to deal with some adults acting like babies about the social distancing guidelines). We stopped here for breakfast. The cinnamon roll was excellent. Classic breakfasts such as Train wreck and Engineer were also very good. Ordered the waffles with strawberries and the waffle was cold and strawberries were previously frozen and very cold. I would stop here again but stick to classic egg breakfasts. What a colossal disappointment! We searched for a restaurant while traveling and saw WSC as a suggestion. Exited the highway and arrived 15 minutes before they closed. We awkwardly stood at the entrance waiting to be seated and were ignored by three different people. Finally a girl from the kitchen approached us and said they close at 2:00. They should change their hours to 7-1:45 if they don't want to make money after 1:45. Or they could be friendlier about it. read more

This is obviously a cafe focused on breakfast and lunch. Breakfast and lunch are each a full page, and dinner is about a 1/3 of a page. But wait, don't get discouraged. What they do have is outstanding! We tried the Spaghetti Plate with Garlic Bread and a Salad, their special. It was really, really good! The sauce was meaty and full of taste. I usually am not much of a tomato based sauce fan, but this was so much more. And the size of the portions! Neither of us could eat more than 1/2 of our portions. The garlic bread was pretty darn good too. The flavor was strong, not overwhelming, just not bland. Even the green salad was fresh and tasty with a good selection of dressings. Finally, we shared a piece of French silk pie. It wasn't perfect, not enough crust. But the filling was superb with a nice tasty whipped cream topping. A great way to finish a meal. We noticed a table of regulars feasting on hamburgers. I would surmise they are a good choice too. The service was fast and friendly and the prices were commensurate with the quality and size of the serving. The atmosphere could best be described as Hole-in-the wall casual and friendly.
