Stopped into Northwoods Steakhouse randomly on the way up to our cabin. It looks pretty unassuming from the outside but it's a lot nicer when you get inside. Our server was very friendly and brought our food out quickly. My kids liked their cheeseburgers. I got the Lumberjack burger which had bacon and pulled pork on it. I got it with pink in the middle and it was really good! The burger was flavorful and juicy. The tater tots were yummy too. Nice and crispy on the outside with a good amount of seasoning. My husband liked his BLT with waffle fries. Our whole lunch came to $51 (we didn't get any alcohol), which feels like a good deal. I'm happy to have one more good place to eat to stop in on our way to and from our cabin. read more

They have the best homemade soup. The Mushroom Steak is our family favorite. They have a great variety to offer and a nice spacious dining area. I am in a wheelchair and there was plenty of room for me no over crowding of tables. The people are always friendly and it's not loud so you can converse and enjoy your meal, the bar is seperate and I really appreciate that. How can you screw up a crispy chicken salad? Soggy lettuce and croutons. Chicken was dry. Server was overwhelmed and grumpy.

My family and I where up in the area looking and decided to stop in for dinner. They had both indoor and outdoor seating available so we chose to sit outside. The waitress came right out and took our drink order while we decided what to each off of there smaller / Covid menu. I must say the service we had was great and the drinks came fast as well as the food we ordered. The burgers where awesome and the kids meals had a perfect amount for each of them to be full. They have a smoke house menu. I can tell you that these meats are not smoked. They are baked or boiled. The ribs are not edible. They tasted old and had a strange aftertaste, as if the meat was spoiled. I wouldn't feed them to my dog. The brisket has no smoke ring with the little actual meat you get on your plate. My plate was 80% fat cap. I paid 40 dollars and the only thing I could actually eat was the potato salad. (Yes, they couldn't even manage to make edible cornbread). My wife's New York strip, ordered medium rare, was completely brown inside and tough, The oddest looking steak Ive ever seen. Grey in color with black grill marks. Just weird. But at least they managed to get the basked potato done right, so she didn't have to leave hungry, I guess. They charge you as if this is a real steak house, but this is bar food, Actually, that statement is an insult to bar food. They have no business serving people any type of food at all. We wanted to enjoy a nite out tonite for our 43rd wedding anniversary. Hubby decided that we havent tried NorthWoods Steak House just north of Mora. So we went up around 6:30 to have a nice supper. We got there and they had one older woman waitressing all by herself. There were 29 people there and she was running around trying to take care of everyone by herself. We asked her why she didnt have any help and she stated that someone was supposedly coming in to help her finally. She was not wearing a mask properly, it was below her chin. Probably because she was sweating so bad running and trying to help people. I felt really bad for her. She was sweating so bad that her hair was wet and the sweat was streaming down her face! We ordered the rib special and hubby wanted the 21 shrimp basket. The shrimp arrived burnt, so bad, even hubby wouldnt eat it. And usually he loves food on the over done side. And my ribs were the worst ribs I have ever tasted in my life! Overcooked, dry and had a terrible after taste. I only took one bite and could not stomach any more. I am not sure if this is the normal for this establishment, but we certainly do not plan on going back there anytime soon. We apologized to the wonderful waitress for having to tell her how bad the food was, but hopefully by telling her, they can make the serious changes that they need to make there. We left her a nice tip and told her that we knew she was doing the best she could having to take care of everyone by herself. She gathered our plates with all the bad food on them.
