Prior breakfasts were good. TODAY, potato pancakes sucked - they were like lightly browned mashed potatoes!!! I ordered the board special which included toast. Oh... there was an up charge, which is on the hard copy menu that I did not get. And, there was an up charge for the half of a teaspoon jam! Also, they don't have applesauce for what they called potato pancakes! Suggestion: order from the menu and be sure to read all the fine print! read more

Stopped in there for lunch on Memorial Day. I had the Italian Philly and it was absolutely amazing!! My wife had the Club and it was also very good. We will definitely stop in again when we're in town! It's pretty small so not a lot of seating, but it's worth the wait! Very small town feel and had great service as well. read more

This place is really cool. It's no wonder it's a popular spot. The waitstaff was really friendly. We will be stopping again for breakfast or lunch. We had a veggie quesadilla for a starter. It was delicious with a nice crispy exterior. The veggies and cheese were melted together. My husband had veggie eggs Benedict and I had a veggie salad which was huge. This is an adorable spot for breakfast! It's in an old bank, with the vaults still in the restaurant. Our waitress was quick, efficient, and never let my cup run empty. We were traveling and needed a place to stop for a good breakfast after a terrible night at a (not so) cheap hotel. Merchants Cafe delivered with high marks. Everyone cleaned their plates, including my grandson. Great portions, good flavor, and priced right. It's terrible to pay high prices for a breakfast, when just a couple years ago we could have had a nice dinner for the price we paid. Unfortunately, these businesses have to raise prices to keep up and I understand that. Just order what sounds good, it's worth it here! I had the veggie omelet without cheese, but added ham (i like veggies and avacado) and the had gluten free toast to my surprise! My boyfriend had the French toast with eggs and bacon and my grandson had kids French toast and sausage. Our companion has the two egg classic breakfast. Stopped in for lunch on a Sunday. The place was packed. A giant table was quickly cleared for my husband I. We both ordered salads. The crispy chicken and the Cajun steak. They were huge! Prices were reasonable. The stand out was their house made blue cheese dressing. The server told us most of the sauces and dressings are house made. Our server was happy, was singing to the music. Traveling through NB this morning and stopped in for Breakfast. So glad we did. Service was friendly. Unique location in an old converted bank. Wall safe doors were still in use. Now for the food. Delicious! The portions were big! I was told by the server they don't skimp on the meat around here and she was spot on. The sausage patties are handmade, big and delicious. Paired that with 2 eggs and load of hash browns, 4 large pieces of wheat toast. Hubby had the same with bacon and home fries. Wonderful meal for both of us. Highly recommended and will be sure to stop again when we're passing through. Plenty of other options on the menu we'd love to try. read more

The sirloin steak was lean and moist, poached eggs could have been cooked longer. His burger was great and the fries were fresh cut and yummy. It was recently a cold and foggy morning in late July. Go figure! Stopped at Merchants Cafe for breakfast that am. First time because of reviews here had been good. Walked in and you could hang meat in the cafe it was so cold. All ceiling fans going full tilt. Now it's in the mid 50's outside too. We asked can you turn down or off some off some of the fans. Answer is nope! " You could sit somewhere else". Every customer was cold. We talked to some and could see it in others. Many looking up at the fans. When my food came after a 45 minutes in the cafe. I was served my over-easy eggs. "Sorry one yoke broke. Is that ok or do you want a new one?" Why not just redo a not perfect plate when serving a customer? Besides that better eat fast. All food because of how cold and breezy it was in there made all our breakfast cold as he!! before we could finish. You folks need to work on your ambience and service. Will not return. read more
