Visited Watershed with some friends for dinner. They have a back area for extra space so we were seated there. They had water already on the table which is a plus! Note that you have to order here before being seated. Not too bad but does put the pressure on to order quickly so you can be seated before others. I went with the turkey melt and upgraded to fries and my partner got a turkey club with a fries upgrade. Together, this meal totaled just over $40 (no extra drink, we got waters). I feel bad giving a low score because of this but I do have to mention that the prices feel much higher than the quality of the food. Yes, we added fries instead of chips which might be the cause for the higher prices, but you can get two well made burgers for less than this so it doesn't feel justified. Additionally, the food was good but not great. My tuna melt lacked a bit of flavoring and only tasted of mayo. Normally this would be fine for me but not when I paid above average for my food. This really is a nice restaurant and in an area that doesn't have too many of those. My wife and I wanted to get a little more riding in before the season comes to an end, so we decided to take the motorcycle up to Osceola and grab dinner at The Watershed Cafe. When we arrived, the area was packed, and there wasn't a single open parking spot within a few blocks. Thankfully, we were on the motorcycle, so we found a place to park right away without any issues. When we first walked in, a gentleman greeted us and was ready to take our order, but we learned by looking at the menus at the front counter that dinner service didn't start until four o'clock. We decided to take a short walk around town, enjoy the scenery, and then come back once they started serving dinner. After returning, we realized the restaurant has a slightly different setup, you place your order at the front counter, and then one of the servers seats you and brings anything else you might need once your food comes out. I ordered the herb roasted chicken, a farm-raised and seasonally inspired dish that came with freshly prepared sides broccolini, mushrooms, and carrots and seasoned potatoes. My wife went with the Peterson steak, made from Peterson Craftsman Meat, served with seasoned potatoes and a mix of vegetables that included broccolini, mushrooms, and carrots. The food was excellent, packed with flavor and cooked perfectly. It was the kind of meal that makes you want to shake the chef's hand and thank them for the experience. The restaurant itself had a nice atmosphere, plenty of seating inside, and even a patio for when the weather's nice. Great ambience great service and good food. It was a little more expensive than I would've anticipated. The food was really good. I had the Reuben and fries, my wife had a quiche. I've been wanting to check out the watershed for sometime now and today ended up being the day! There was a line out there door so I suppose that's a good sign. It was a bit of the wait but the food and service was great. We were able to dine outside which was great on this perfect day. We ordered the Wisconsin board to share - cheeses, sausages, grapes, nuts, strawberries, apple slices and berries it was delicious. The tomato basil soup was delicious but a different more brothy base than I'm used to, the Cobb salad was filling and delicious with crisp fresh greens. We all enjoyed the pastries as well. The food is usually good. We live an hour away so I tried to call to ask if they currently had a particular item in stock, their sour cherry pie so I could save quite a bit of time 2 hours both ways. Called at least a dozen times...no answer went to voice mail then disconnected me no option to leave message either. I told him I don't live close and wanted to save time. He tried to defend his lame uneducated response and said we are right and you are wrong again in an insolent tone that any smart owner would have fired on the spot. Then he started yelling at me because he doesn't know how to talk to people because he's not socialized to be kind or friendly. Just to let you know from the moment I walked in there were four twenty something workers standing at the counter with their thumbs you know where staring at the customers like a deer in headlights doing absolutely nothing all looking able to answer a phone call. I hate unprofessional service people. I love a great career server who understands the source of their paycheck and livelihood. There is NONE of this here. Table service is definitely hit or miss. This young man at the counter needs his career redirected ASAP. Anyone over 40 would be upset with how arrogant crass and disrespectful this young man is. I hope you don't need to deal with him. We came in wanting to support a local place and were treated very poorly by the workers behind the counter. They were not helpful and talked in demeaning ways to multiple people in our group. After ordering and checking out at the counter, I presented a gift card only to be told that there was some issue and they were not able to accept gift cards that evening. I could not believe how good the food was! I was so surprised to find such a great place for lunch in a small town. The watershed has a good size menu for breakfast lunch and everything in between. Hmm how to start. This place was spectacular in every aspect. Super adorbs and quaint interior! Cute vibes. Friendly and lit employees (shoutout to the employee who i don't know his name but was awesome and i think maybe had glasses and longer hair) that checked up on us and held a lovely conversation. We are in town for a family reunion this weekend and several people recommended we visit The Watershed while we are here. We had a fantastic time canoeing this morning and decided to stop in for a quick coffee on our way back to the Inn. There were six of us, so we were a big group entering, but before we could even form a line the barista told us to step to the left of the register away from the door. We all looked behind us wondering if we were blocking someone trying to get in. No, it was just our party and two other people waiting to order. Despite the menu being to the right of the register, we were now all crowded to the left. We've never been here before, so rather strange to not be able to see the menu. Then the cashier seemed less than pleased that we weren't ordering quickly enough. After we ordered we all naturally started stepping to the right of the cashier to wait for our drinks. The barista again scolded us and asked us to step back to the left away from the door! Our party was literally crowded in the small space where the bathrooms are afraid of "getting in trouble again." This was not the welcoming and friendly experience we were expecting. The two staff members made us feel like they were tolerating us. As we walked to the car my kids said they didn't want to go back there. We were planning to place a To Go lunch order tomorrow for 18 people but based on this experience we will order someplace else. read more
