We had a very nice dinner at the Hideaway! Service was OK but the food more than made up for somewhat unenthusiastic server. What surprised me was the number of very authentic greek dishes on the menu. The Gyro dinner was super nice, and the other meals my companions ordered were also very nice. I would very much recommend a visit here!

Log cabin...yes! Always a great meal at Phil's. Lots of great options on the menu from steaks to fish. I ordered the filet with mushroom buttons and garlic mashed potatoes as my side. Everything was delicious. I would definitely recommend adding the seasoning to any meat option. I also ordered an old fashioned that was just okay (whiskey version). My only cons with Phil's is that it's a very small space but very popular so definitely recommend making a reservation. The tables in there tight and close in proximity against other tables...like the back of my chair was right up against another chair from another party. Cool atmosphere with the log cabin feel and definitely check out the bathrooms (single stalls only).

Our waitress was AWESOME she was very friendly and open to substitutions. My boys had burger patties that were PHENOMENAL! The octopus appetizer was so tender! I didn't love the duck, the oysters weren't great and the steak was average.

Phil's Tara Hideaway is great! The atmosphere has a Wisconsin supper club vibe (and plenty of parking unlike downtown Stillwater). We had a large group but we got a 5:00 pm reservation no problem. Our waitress was great! Very attentive, quick, and knowledgeable about the menu. Now for the food. Do yourself a favor and order the Athenian Fried Potatoes. They won't disappoint! My husband ordered the special which was a steak and mushroom risotto dish. PHENOMENAL! Please add this to your regular menu, Phil's! The steak was cooked perfectly medium rare and the mushroom risotto was salty, creamy, and delicious. I ordered the Hazelnut Encrusted Walleye and was underwhelmed. It lacked flavor as compared to the other dishes. Overall, I can't wait to come back and try more menu items!

Small and cozy (it can get loud when it's crowded) Excellent food, service, and ambiance. Our go-to choice for family celebrations.

Slow service, cold food. Let the server know our meals were cold and nothing was done, not even an apology.

Everything was great. Food service staff every time I have been there. Drinks were good and not watered down like some places.

It wasn't all that busy, roughly three staff members in and out behind the bar inclusive of an employee who was working on a sangria mix? Pre made cocktail mix? Not sure but he was putting something together the majority of the time I was in. I digress. It wasn't just myself and guest who experienced the slow service, there was another group at the end of the bar that had to ask multiple times for their tab to multiple employees. On to the food: -I went with the Royale Smash Burger, which was quite tasty and honestly, the seasoning of the burger and the cheese stood so strong on their own I wish I didn't have the tomato and pickles in hindsight. Really great burger! -the side fries were solid and seasoned perfectly! -the onion rings we split was surprisingly the opposite. No real taste to the batter, came out not super hot, and really soggy. The exact opposite of the side fries and honestly, wish we'd skipped on them. Overall, the service kind of killed the experience, the burger was solid, and I'd skip the onion rings. There's some decent spots in Stillwater and this place always seems super busy this was the first chance I had to stop in and... not sure with the other options I'd jump to go back. Perhaps it was just an off service/off afternoon?

My companion and I both ordered the quesadillas appetizer as our lunches. WOW. The best quesadillas I've ever had. Delicately crispy on the outside and stuffed with all the good things inside. Not hot (aka spicy) at all, which is great for someone likes me who blows up when looking at a jalapeno sideways. Far more than I really needed to eat. The staff were all so kind and enthusiastic. (And hey, I found my keys!) Hopefully they'll get the ladies' room up and running soon, as the men's room was...yeah.

The place is split into a bar area with tables and a smaller dining area. We opted for the dining section since we had little ones with us. There was one server covering our section, which had our table and another table. While she seemed to be keeping up with orders reasonably well, her friendliness left something to be desired. As the face of the restaurant, especially in a family-friendly section, a warmer attitude would've gone a long way. Food-wise, everything we ordered was solid. I had the deluxe patty melt with fries which was tasty, well-cooked, and a generous portion. Others at the table had walleye strips, nachos, mac and cheese, and another sandwich (can't remember the name). Across the board, everyone enjoyed their meals, and the portions were definitely generous for the price. Overall, Howard's delivered on food and portion size, but the service could use a little polish to make it a more welcoming experience. Would I come back? I'd likely consider, I just hope the service is better this time.
