    Clam chowder

Was a great little find outside of the rush of downtown Stillwater. I had ribs, my husband had salmon, they were both delicious. The best part was their soup though. Best clam chowder and French onion we have had in ages. Our waitress was very helpful in making a selection as everything sounded wonderful on the menu.

We originally tried to get in a German restaurant, but they were packed so we decided to give Patriots Tavern a shot. At first glance, it kind of looks like a hole in the wall but to our surprise, it was very modern. The good: I asked for the chicken wings to be double baked so they could get a little crunchy on the outside. They were not as firm as what I thought they would be, but they were still quite good. The soy ginger flavor was also delicious. 4/5 The fire cracker burger was cooked perfectly with a little pink inside. The bread was nice with a firm texture. The Bad: The fire cracker burger was not as hot as what I thought it would be. Other burger joints with jalapeños are on the hotter and scorching side. It would be tough for me to get this burger again. Also, fries are extra and not included. kind of a bummer. 2.5/5

Another Patriot meal for the win! Try the sirloin dinner with Gorgonzola mushrooms and a fabulous Demi glaze - excellent!

Food so good it will make you weep! Hands down the best burger I have ever eaten (I had the fungi burger). The beet salad was also wonderful! The vegetables were fresh and colorful and did not disappoint. The server (Chip) we had was top notch! He checked in without being intrusive. He was friendly and accommodating. The ambience is that of a New England tavern with revolutionary war period decor. It's absolutely wonderful and warm. Great place to stop and eat great food and have good conversation. I would highly recommend stopping if you are out this way!

Excellent food quality, atmosphere, home brew beer and service. Must try! I had the turkey sandwich and onion rings. The onion rings look normal but they taste above normal, so good.

Fried Walleye was great! Patriot burger too. Service was good. Katie, in the kitchen, is the best!

Great staff. Fun bartenders and a good kitchen. Also a very good location overlooking the Delaware River. Deck dining.

The food includes the Irish stuff you would expect, and in the past they've been great. Think fish & chips, Shepards pie (actually cottage). My friend and I had sandwiches this visit and they were great. The menu says you get chips. What you get is a generous portion of deep fried potato rounds, just a little thick. Some crunchy and some a little soft. The dill pickle... not my favorite but that's my take. Do Not skip the appetizer. The mushrooms are amazing. They are roasted or braised, and they are delicious. There are Irish beers here including Guinness, Harp, etc. or if you prefer something else there's a full bar.

I was delighted they had it on the menu. One lady was the bartender, order taker, waitress and even bused all the tables. This is the Midwest work ethic I was raised with! She did a great job all the while maintaining a smile and good humor with the customers. Every table including the bar was filled and everybody left happy, including us. My friend had a Ruben sandwich w/ coleslaw and I had the deep fried Walleye sandwich with chips. It got real quiet while we were eating which is a good sign the food was good. The accompanying potato chips were fabulous! Never had fries done this way. They are thin like a chip but actually fried potato medallions. Definitely will come back when in the area again.

On awkward waiting wondering if this is one of those places where you can just seat yourself. The place is clean and the ambiance has some very nice touches to bring intrigue. The subtle candle-like light fixture was corky and added to the charm. Prices are very reasonable! I had a good idea what I wanted prior to stopping in. Food came out quickly. Less than 10 mins. Lupia was hot and delicious. My first time having one so wilk not compare it to an egg roll. The braised beef rib was tender and juicy. I pulled out the knife but only a fork is necessary. I do wish the meat was a tad saltier but just a personal preference there. Service was pleasant, attentive, and quick. The gentleman who greeted me also thanked me on my way out. It was rather pleasant experience overall and am planning on coming back to try more of the menu!

It's a restaurant, perhaps reflecting its neighborhood, where people have an occasional beer, but George and the Dragon isn't a drinking hole. That changes the ambiance. The patrons looked well-off, but in that way in which they try hard not to look like they have money. Most of them wore clothes that made them look as if they had just come off the tennis court, or their bike, or after running a five-mile for a great cause. My wife and I still try to look nice when we go out. We don't dress down. Most of the people at George & the Dragon were in their fifties or sixties, including the servers, who were very earnest, if you know what I mean. I'm in my seventies, grew up in NYC, and still try to look hip, and I drink vodka quite often. Maybe that's why I felt uncomfortable. That decade and a half makes a huge difference in how we grew up, and what I experienced in the sixties and seventies. The food was okay, not great. The burger and chicken schnitzel tasted fair to middling. The room was also very loud, filled with exclamations from the tables of "women who lunch," feeling more comfortable with no men at their tables. That's also a demographic and Minneapolis thing. I doubt I'll return to George and The Dragon. I like bars.
