We enjoyed the ambiance complete with sturdy 1970s brown coffee mugs, rosemaling and dalla horse decoration. The coffee was fresh and kept coming, the service quick and friendly, the classic breakfast offerings done right. My hubby had apple fritter French toast and loved it. This place is in business since before the '40s, and by that I mean 1940 + when the grandparents of the current owner purchased it as The Palmer Cafe. Not a very large place, and if you have a big group like we did today, better call ahead and let them know. Food is good and plentiful on your plate. I had Swedish Meatballs and it was good. I'm guessing their clientele is older enough to watch the sodium, so you might need to add some from the table shakers. Very reasonable prices, a cheeseburger is $2.75, but don't plan on washing it down with anything but water, soda, or coffee 'cause there is no liquor here! If you're in the area, and hungry for something different, it's worth a stop. Parking can be tight, especially in winter when snowbanks are everywhere, but fortunately some on street parking is available. read more

My family and I love to support the small businesses in our community. Kaffe Stuga was our choice for breakfast today. The menu is simple, nothing complicated about it, which is great!! My wife and I ordered our kids the 2 pancakes meal to split between the two. The pancakes are pretty good sized pancakes so it was plenty for them. My wife ordered the Stuga Stack, she loved it. And I ordered the Country Fried Steak. Crispy steak, with a good amount of gravy but not drowning in it. (Very good portions btw) Over medium eggs on my split biscuit with a tad bit of gravy on it was fantastic! Service was great, my Coffee was never empty and she was very friendly. The atmosphere was calm, as customers left after their meals and new ones came in. It's our first time here. And it will not be the last. Thank you for the delicious meal! See y'all soon! read more

I've been to Kaffe Stuga many times as it's very close to where I live and I want to like an old Swedish inexpensive restaurant. Unfortunately I've never thought much of their food. On the plus side it's modestly priced, has a clean comfortable feel, easy parking, and the service is friendly and competent. But the food just isn't as good as you'll find at other successful restaurants. Maybe it's just me as I'm continually shocked when I read other reviews. If you just want an easy stop to fill your belly at a reasonable price you'll be satisfied. But if you crave something really tasty I'd try elsewhere. read more

We ate at this restaurant twice. The first time we were hoping to have breakfast but they stopped breakfast and were serving lunch. We split the meatloaf dinner with one salad and one cup of chicken noodle soup. It was delicious. We were able to get breakfast on our second visit. We tried the Apple Fritter French Toast and pancakes. The pancakes were delicious but the French Toast was a little sweet for me. It's one of the most popular breakfast dishes so I'm sure it's to most people's taste. The bacon and coffee were great. Aww memories of this place....it has been way over five years since we have eaten at this establishment. Years ago, we lived in Harris and ate here at least once a week. The salad bowls are the same, the French dressing has not changed, the décor is the same old pictures of Harris times past. I ordered an old time favorite, the shrimp burger and onion rings. My husband ordered the Stuga Burger and fries, which was his go to item in the past. This place is a timeless treasure, a place that still has the same quality of food, prices that are cheap and a homey atmosphere. Four stars only because the wait staff is rather slow. We went to Kaffe Stuga on a Saturday morning, it was busy but they staff were great! We had 4 adults and 5 children and they were able to accommodate! The breakfast was delicious! I had the Apple fritter French toast with eggs, sausage, and hash browns which I shared with one of my kids and we loved it!!! Everyone was satisfied with our meal and service! It was nice to sit down order and eat in a decent amount of time as we had a few wrestling tournaments that day! We will definitely be back!!! read more

Um, well first thing is I'm not rating it for food taste but the nostalgia of food taste. Salt and pepper appear to be the only spices used here, and even then sparingly. However, if you grew up in Minnesota before the influx of new immigrants with all their "flavors" you will appreciate this old style Minnesota restaurant which is increasingly becoming an endangered cultural institution. The Atmosphere was calm, relaxing, family friendly, not filled with loud noises, and there was no pressure to wolf down our meal and leave. The service was a little slow but we didn't care because the staff were friendly and kind. The food was excellent with generous portions at very reasonable prices!!! Our hot food was hot and the cold food cold; which to me is extremely important. We have put Kafe Stuga on our lists to revisit. My brother, sister and I had lunch here yesterday. It is one if my brothers favorite places to go for lunch. This is comfort food with a capital C. We had ham and scalloped potatoes, and stroganoff, the special of the day. Huge servings, delicious food. They make their own French dressing and I'd love to get the recipe. Sweet and a little spicy. Perfect on iceberg lettuce. So I'd absolutely go again the next time I'm in Minnesota visiting family. The service was friendly and familial.
