Buffalo chicken salad
Miya J.

I stopped by Whiskey Kitchen at RDU Airport and ordered the buffalo chicken salad. Everything tasted fresh, and the chicken had great flavor. The salad was tasty and satisfying, although I would have loved some fried onions for some extra crunch. Overall, a solid airport dining option when you're looking for something fresh and flavorful instead of the usual airport food.

I went here for a special occasion, and they didn't disappoint! The drinks were great, and the burger was delicious. The appetizer was also amazing, I just wish it came with more bread. The server was nice and we loved the atmosphere. I'd come here again!

Stopped by Whiskey Kitchen for drinks after eating nearby. When you arrive parking can be a little difficult in this area as you'll either need to parallel park or find parking in a nearby lot. Walking in to Whiskey Kitchen it feels easy going, stylish, and lively. The bartender was super knowledgeable about the different drinks and made the experience even more memorable, For drinks I ordered the Old Fashioned (Elijah Craig Small Batch Bourbon, Sugar, Bitters, Orange), Twist of Fate (Old Forester Bourbon, Campari, Averna Amaro, Jamaican Rum, Bitters), and the Blush & Brimstone (Cook's Mill Bourbon, Pink Peppercorn Grapefruit Syrup, Lemon-Ginger Juice, Rosemary Peppercorn Bitters). By far the Blush & Brimstone was my favorite as it had the right level of spice and it was just a good drink. Definitely check out Whiskey Kitchen if you are in the Downtown Raleigh area. Btw, if you go here for dinner I hear that the Lamb Burger is excellent.

Whiskey Kitchen is truly a beautiful place, inside and out. I love the cozy vibes and all the plants scattered throughout. I came with some friends on a Monday and my friend got their Monday special: a $12 whiskey flight, what a steal! If whiskey isn't your thing, they've also got plenty of tasty cocktails and beers to choose from (I had a draft beer). The bartenders were helpful and quick. We just stopped in for drinks this time, so I'm looking forward to trying the food on my next visit.

Wow. Visiting Raleigh for work and (sorry) ChatGPT came through with a solid recommendation. Great decor, and of course amazing cocktails. My client loved his burger and I had the lamb burger which was delicious and spicy (and a bit over-sauced so definitely a 5-napkin burger!) And then dessert. Too good to take a picture: Lemon coconut Chess pie. GET THIS PIE! It was SO GOOD. Our server was so sweet (and sassy!) and heard us rave, so she gave us another slice for the road (proud to admit I had it for breakfast!) Will definitely be back next time i'm in town

This place may be a go-to now! I conquered my fear of going out to eat solo in downtown Raleigh. Took a nice walk from the Lincoln to Whiskey Kitchen and they did not disappoint. I had an upscale Mimosa it felt like called the Poinsettia, delish. Then I started with their Smoked Catfish Dip with Cornbread crostinis. It had a bit of heat but it was nice and well balanced with the pickled onions. My entree was the Fried chicken Sammy with a side salad with a super fresh Basil-Rose vinaigrette . Perfect balance of earthy and comforting. It was peaceful and a beautiful location. Will be back!

5 stars for the Fried Chicken Sandwich and Collard Greens. Loved the sauce and fresh pickles on the sandwich and the collards were super flavorful. I also had The Botanist - very good and reminiscent of Christmas with the allspice.

Lamb Burger
Jim L.

We have been to Whiskey Kitchen before and normally have a good experience, but today was disappointing. We ordered the Lamb Burger and the WK Burger with bacon. The Lamb Burger was incredible the last time we had it, but today it came out closer to medium-well and was overcooked and very dry. The WK Burger was much better. It was juicy, flavorful, and the bacon was a good addition. The collard greens were also delightful, with just the right amount of spicy kick. Unfortunately, the entire experience was overshadowed by the flies. There had to be at least 20 houseflies constantly buzzing around and pestering us throughout the meal. It was difficult to relax and enjoy the food. Whiskey Kitchen is normally a solid experience, but the excessive number of flies completely killed the mood today. Three stars because parts of the meal were good, but the dining environment needs to be addressed.

Panzanella
Joseph K.

Panzanella was awesome. Ingredients tasted fresh and with the crispy chicken added it was a huge portion of food. Tons of obscure allocated bourbon and the prices were relativeky reasonable

Anejo old Fashioned

I like the environment and the wait staff is always phenomenal, however this last time I couldn't eat my favorite thing on the menu (lamb burger) like so many other they amped the spice up. I originally thought it was the sauce which the waitress voluntarily remade but no the current chef is apparently fallen into the current dining trope of spicy is better to the point. I gave my burger to someone else at the table to eat. That said everyone else enjoyed their meals and as always, no complaints on the drinks but... I won't be the one selecting/suggesting it when we're going out to each going forward.

Lamb Burger
Drew S.

Whiskey Kitchen was a great experience all around. Starting with friendly service and an awesome espresso martini, I had a lamb burger per the bartenders recommendation and it did not disappoint. I didn't dive into the whiskey collection but given the quality of the drinks and meal, I'll be back for a second run.

Chorizo frittata
Christine W.

The chorizo frittata was on the smaller side but very delicious. Not sure it was worth the price tho! The tomatoes were tasty as well. Service was good for our large group, and the ambiance is casual.

I stopped by on my road trip from NJ to FL, having had plans to spend the night in Raleigh. My main criteria for a place to go for dinner was proximity to my hotel and something unique to the area, followed suspiciously closely by fantastic, perhaps southern-focused food. Check and check. + Old Fashioned - in all honestly, one of the best ones I've ever had. I let the bartender do his thing since there were far more rye and bourbon choices than I had time to absorb, and the balance of what was put in my glass was A+. + Hazy IPA - always a beautiful sight and it was a great second act to my old fashioned. It was local and delicious. + Crispy Chicken Sandwich with side salad - generously sized, incredibly crispy, and exactly what I was craving. The place itself is huge (with a nice outdoor space as well) but since I was a solo traveler I found a nice spot at the bar just fine. There's plenty of other menu to look over and by the looks of the other reviews you won't be disappointed. Please do take the time to absorb the enormous selection of lovely brown liquids. It's in the name, so it's clear they know what they are doing. If I lived in the area I could see this being a weekend staple.

Delicious, a must order!

Ask the Community - Whiskey Kitchen

Do they allow smoking outside (cigar in particular)?

As of 5-Sep-25 (just called) they do NOT.

Are dogs allowed?

Yes on the patio!!!

Do they have gluten-free options?

Yes, and a couple vegan options too!

Are reservations required?

If you want to sit inside. If outside walk ups are available but I'd make a reservation because it's a popular spot and hard to get a table.

Whether you're a serious whiskey enthusiast or just looking for a well-made cocktail, you're in good hands. Being open later than most Raleigh bars makes Foundation one of the city's go-to late-night options, but that shouldn't overshadow what it really is........a great bar at any hour. The interior features rotating art hung on the walls--which adds a great aesthetic and is even available for purchase if you fall in love with a piece. The staff is consistently polite and welcoming, and the overall atmosphere makes for a solid night out. The only notable drawbacks are the lack of a food menu, not even offering small bites, and a noticeable smoke odor inside that might bother non-smokers. Still, it's a great spot for drinks and atmosphere.

Walking into the cocktail bar/dessert lounge it feels trendy, dim-lit, like something that belongs in a very large city (but glad to have it in Raleigh), and 21+ as I was asked for my ID at the door. Once you walk in, definitely have your ID ready and then you will be seated. A server will then come by your table to take your order. For drinks, I ordered the Fireside Old Fashioned (Maker's 46, cayenne, chili-pepper sugar, Crude smoke-salt bitters) and my partner ordered the Chai Espresso Martini (house-made chai tea, vodka, sweetened espresso). Both drinks were excellent and well made. The old fashioned had a nice full bourbon taste and a really nice spicy flavor at the end each sip. For deserts, we ordered the s'mores sundae (torched house-made marshmallow cream, Valrhona dark chocolate brownie, vanilla ice cream, toasted graham) and the Caramel Apple Cupcake. The Caramel Apple cupcake was good but was more like a muffin vs. a cupcake and was on the dry side. The s'mores sundae was excellent and had so much chocolate flavor. Overall, would highly recommend checking out Bittersweet if you are around the Downtown Raleigh area looking for a nightcap or dessert bar.

We had a reservation and it wasn't busy, with two other groups and one couple dining there as well. We left around 6:30 and it was still very slow with no new customers coming in since we arrived. I think this place is probably more lively on Friday and Saturday nights. The food was delicious and the employees were friendly. When we walked in, the executive chef (Kevin?) asked if we had dined there before and welcomed us with a handshake and introduced himself. When you first enter Cuya there is a casual dining area with a lot of natural light coming in through the windows. That is the cafe portion of their restaurant and where they serve pastries, lattes, sandwiches, salads, and other more casual dining options. It's a cute and spacious spot that would be great for a casual breakfast or lunch. When you walk through the cafe there is a second door that opens into a second dining area that is a lot darker and has a completely different vibe and look. The music is fairly loud so it isn't a good place to go for a quiet meal or date unless you're into nightlife. The music is fun though with reggaeton, some r&b, and other Latin music like Juanes or bad bunny. The decor is super cool and sexy and colorful with fun decorations like a bust/mannequin head wearing a tropical fruit hat, lots of plants and neon lights, as well as framed art featuring different Latin countries. We started off with some drinks: a mezcalita picante and a pineapple jarritos. They even poured the jarritos into a glass and garnished it like a cocktail which was a nice touch and fun for our 5 year old. Our appetizers came after our drinks. We ordered the fritto mixto, pork belly tostones, pulpo, and empanadas. For our main meal we ordered the banana leaf steamed snapper. We ended our meal with mango sorbet. The only desserts available were a banana bread style bread pudding and mango sorbet. I was really hoping for some flan or tres leches and very disappointed by the offerings available. However, the mango sorbet was actually so incredible and delicious with a generous amount of scoops (I believe there were four). You could really taste the mango. The fritto mixto was good and came with a nice marinara style sauce which tasted more like a blended pico de gallo. The calamari was tasty and there were some nice juicy shrimp in the mix as well. The pork belly empanada was nice but not our favorite. We liked the sauce it came with but we weren't expecting deep fried empanadas. It comes with 2 however and makes for a great sharing appetizer for a small group. My favorite appetizer was definitely the pulpo which was so crispy on the outside and oh so tender on the inside and cooked to perfection. It didn't seem grilled as the menu states but was still incredibly delicious. It is plated atop a yummy salsa and served with some fingerling potatoes (some purple on the inside!). The potatoes were no frills and not that flavorful but still nice. Highly recommend. The banana leaf snapper was a very interesting dish with a fun presentation. The snapper sits beneath a layer green olive and capers with arugula and baby tomatoes. The snapper was cooked well and extremely tender. I recommend you mix it all together otherwise the caper and olive mix is pretty overpowering. We had an overall lovely experience and would return again and recommend this place to anyone looking for a delicious place to try! I want to come back to try the noodle dishes, Jamaican curry wings, and the ceviche/crudo items! The tacos sounded delicious as well.
