Traveling a lot for work these days, I often get led to the restaurant with the "city's best burger." Well, if Whiskey Bar Kitchen claims to have the best burger in Augusta, I'll believe it. I visited for lunch and was ready to eat! The menu is a unique blend of bar favorites like burgers and fries, as well as Asian fare like teriyaki chicken and Japanese curry. It was a tough decision but I think I found the perfect solution: the teriyaki burger! A juicy patty with teriyaki, grilled pineapple, smoked gouda and Asian house white dressing. On the side, I opted for sweet potato fries and the suggested coconut cream dipping sauce. As I mentioned before, this burger was GOOD but definitely messy. The sweet potato fries were tasty, as well. If you're a coconut fan, you'll definitely enjoy that sauce. I'm not so opted for the fries rather plain, but they also ten different sauces and eight dressings to spice up any dish. My lunch date got the pig sandwich - panko breaded pork loin, Asian slaw, katsu sauce and wasabi mayo, on lettuce instead of bread. In other words, if you want to be a little healthier, they can accommodate. We weren't drinking this afternoon so I didn't get to try any of the whiskey! I came here for the first time in my birthday and the service was okay. For places like this I know i won't be amazed but it wasn't terrible and wasn't incredible it was just okay. But the fooooood. The food is amazing. I had the Hawaiian burger (i think that's the name) it was fantastic and i loved that the burger wasn't drenched in sauce to the point it was just a soggy mess. The bathrooms are all the way in the back and a bit tiny. There is some outdoor seating in front of the restaurant and then booths inside and the bar and tables in the back. I went during the day and it had a fun atmosphere, my family and I can't wait to go back because the food was amazing. read more

What a great place. Visited with family, they suggested we go here. There were 6 of us, booths were nice and big. Place is busy, they do not take reservations. We have our name and then headed for a walk to see the James Brown Statue. Onto the food.. Burgers are insane. I had the Elvis inspired one, I was being adventurous. Peanut butter, bananas, bacon. So glad I was, burger was awesome !!!! Cooked perfect and delicious. Waffle fries were great , and the sweet tea was spot on. Added to the wait for this place because of the reviews - at 6:45 on a Saturday we were told there would be a 40-45 min wait, which was to be expected downtown on the weekend with nice weather. They take your phone number and text you once your table is ready, so we were able to walk up and down the street while we waited. Unfortunately everything was closed at 7pm on Saturday (?) but it was still scenic for out-of-towners like ourselves. Plus there was no waiting area inside/outside so we didn't have much choice. We were seated almost exactly 45 minutes later. Our waitress was kind and helpful, didn't bother us too much. I ordered a sour beer which was fine, but my boyfriend ordered the Kopparberg Strawberry and Lime Cider, which is no-joke the best cider I've had in my life. We each ordered a burger, I did a plain WB(K) burger with cheddar cheese and waffle fries. The food was brought out maybe 30 minutes later. I don't know what to say other than it was aggressively fine. Nothing was bad, it's certainly a good burger and the fries were good too - it's just nothing that stood out to me as amazing or unique that would bring me back. This was a great experience! I really like the decor. We went on a Friday afternoon and there was a short wait but they texted us when a spot opened up. I went for the teriyaki and the grilled chicken breast was amaaaazing. I enjoyed everything except the apple honey sauce I got - the hubs got the remoulade and everyone enjoyed it. Service was a little slow but they were down to three servers that day and it was slammed. The hubs was not sure the price balanced out with portion size, service, and presentation. Perhaps the most interesting burgers in Augusta! Whiskey Kitchen has a wide array for exciting and interesting burgers. I personally get the Teriyaki burger, which comes with an zesty pineapple on the burger! The waffle fries are also crisp and favorable, especially with their special sauces- I am on a mission to try them all. The largest drawback of Whiskey Kitchen is that I have never been seated in under an hour. Granted, this occurred both times on Saturday mornings, but waiting over an hour for a burger of this quality is not truly worth it. We were driving through on our way to Charlotte and this restaurant was one of the few open on a Monday. Glad we found this one. We ordered potstickers and they were crispy, hot and the dipping sauce was delicious. My husband had the far east chicken bowl and loved it. My burger was juicy and excellent. The only slight disappointment was the side Caesar salad. The dressing was good and the lettuce was plentiful but several pieces had browned. The crisps on top were great. I'd ask for a larger bowl to mix the dressing in or ask them to mix it up before bringing it out. Service was excellent. We've since moved to Fort Bragg two years ago, but this place is still my favorite burger place within three hours. Fresh and creative burgers, always hot and tasty, food has never come out slow. We've never had an issue with the service either. Small plates are super delicious too - love the wings and edamame. The coconut cream that comes with the sweet potato fries is the most amazing thing ever. Drinks are tasty and cheap too, depending on the bartender. We love this place! read more

This was my third trip to the Whiskey Bar Kitchen. The food is great, and they offer military discounts. Other than a few hiccups, I enjoyed each trip. Don't try and customize your burgers and your meal will be great! The first, had only a couple bumps due to customization of the burgers, but the food and service was still great. My second trip was made during a work lunchtime. With the restaurant being near the medical district, I figured they'd be prepared for the oncoming lunchtime rush. I was proved wrong. A few people who were seated and placed orders after us, received their plates before us. That has always been a peeve of mine. By the time our plates arrived we had to ask for to-go boxes as our lunchtime was ending. Even though it was eaten at my desk, my burger was still good. The most recent visit was actually most disappointing to me. I learned a lesson and didn't customize my burger, but I did ask for well done fries. My date made a joke that since the waitress didn't write any of our orders down she would swap it and make my burger well done and fries medium. So it's crazy because I have visited this establishment before and it was amazing! This time was slightly different. The restaurant was super packed so we sat at the bar and service was slooooow. Our bartender wasn't the most friendly but she did ok. The sad part was how long the food took to come out and the fries were sadly cold. I ordered a basic burger with bbq and waffle fries. It was amazing and cooked to order, but make sure you really like Blue Cheese and spicy Buffalo Sauce, they do not skip on portion size. Waffles fries were perfect, crispy and just the right portion. I went here went a group of friends. It's located in the main strip of Broad Street in downtown Augusta. You can tell this is a popular spot because it stayed packed! The atmosphere is nice with a lot of energy. There was fully stocked bar and TVs. The staff was helpful and energetic. Some of the group was here for the first time, and our waitress gave us some good honest recommendations. It could be a little difficult to accommodate a group of 8 or more, which we had. They quickly accommodated us by pulling up 3 bar stools to our booth. The food was good. I can see this being a place to eat, drink and hand out with friends. read more
