Very mixed review. When it was right, it was a 10/10. When it missed, it really missed. Had not had this kind of experience at Sheehan's before. I ordered the catfish: Hot Honey Catfish | 26 lightly fried, polenta cake, collard greens, chow chow, hot honey drizzle. It came with grits, not a polenta cake, which was fine except they sat too long and had hardened on top. The collards were excellent but the "Catfish" was pure mush. Really not edible. I had to wait for my plate to come out because they ran out of the chow chow so I think my plate must have sat under the light for a while. I think they should have cooked another piece of fish rather than sending that one out. I could not/did not eat it. The chow chow overpowered the hot honey drizzle completely. The server kindly took it off the bill but I would have rather had a piece of crispy catfish. My nephew ordered the Pappardelle Frutti di Mare| 29 shrimp and crawfish tail meat, mushroom, white wine butter cream, shaved parmesean which was TOO SPICY for him to eat. When we mentioned this to the server she said the spice was normal for the dish and she would ask the chef to mention this on the menu. Didn't help us this time as the menu made no mention of any spiciness and we didn't know to ask to tone it down, which we would have asked had we known it was spicy. There was a special seasonal salad, with blueberries, peaches, and watermelons which was 10/10. We had ordered one to split but fortunately they forgot to split it so we got a whole salad each and I was thankful because it was beyond tasty and filling!! Would go back again for the salad alone!! Hopefully these problems will be rectified and we will give them another chance. read more

After keeping Sheehan's Irish Pub on our list for ages, we finally made it. First impressions were a bit mixed--the entrance wasn't quite what we expected. The photo on line did not give a good representation of what it looked like, which made it hard to visualize the place beforehand. Once inside, the atmosphere was cozy and local. It's a small spot, but spacious enough for groups. We saw a lively group of ladies enjoying themselves, and noticed folks heading upstairs--so there may be more seating beyond the snug downstairs area. I didn't take interior photos since it wasn't fancy, but it had that lived-in charm of a neighborhood favorite. I'd made reservations, but unless you're bringing a large party, you probably won't need them. Finally visited this restaurant. The place is unassuming but when the food came, i was completely impressed. We didn't order a lot but our favorite was the pork belly and the seared tuna. Both are asian inspired and very flavorful. Service was also good but the food did take time to come out. I am definitely coming back to try more! read more

Dinner Review - 3.5 Stars FIRST TAKE - Very intimate setting with dim lighting. Not a huge place but a full bar, which seats about 15 comfortably. We had a reservation for 5 and were set immediately--great service and excellent greeting from Stella. FEASTING - Ordered the Scotch Egg. Beware this is one egg, so if you want to order this for the table be sure to order at least two orders. For the entree I had the Lamb Shepherd Pie, which is a Rotating Special. This plate was great, so best of luck to you that it's still on the menu when you try this place out. FINAL WORDS - Overall this place is very nice for dinner. I took my husband to Sheehan's for the first and he absolutely loved it. We sat at the bar and April took excellent care of us! We had a couple of appetizers and he had the filet and said it was delicious! I like that a couple of days they do small plates or a pub menu. The scotch egg is amazing if you like them! The atmosphere makes you feel warm and welcomed! They also have an extensive crafty cocktail list but April can make you just about anything you want. Give them a try! read more

Sheehan's is one of our favorite spots in the Augusta area. The service and food are always fantastic! Their food and cocktail specials are carefully curated and always delicious when we feel like mixing it up from our "usual" orders. To be honest with you, this is way out of my budget so I wouldn't have come here if someone else wasn't paying. But I was very impressed with my food. I ordered the chicken wings and a side of fries. SO. GOOD. I couldn't stop raving about them. I got some extra ranch to dip my fries in and it was perfect. Whatever they season the fries with is delicious. However, I tried my brother's Shepard's pie and was a little underwhelmed by it -- I felt that for the high price and the small size, the flavor should've been more memorable. Service was great. I didn't like how loud it was inside though, I felt like I'd come out of a concert afterwards. read more

Its been years since we visited here so thought we would give it a try. We booked a table for 2 and when asked if we would like to sit downstairs or upstairs when we arrived we actually prompted for downstairs. Table that we were sat at had food from a previous diner under it, table was sticky and the pew bench seat wasn't very comfortable for my wife so we opted to change to upstairs. Once upstairs we were more comfortable. We both had a glass of the Pinot Noir. We opted to share a starter of the burnt ends (pork belly) which comes with a corn salsa. It was delicious, so tender. My wife then had a wedge salad with the crab bisque. I had the fish and chips. They were ok entrees but the prices .... Also keep this in mind this is an Irish pub, where ar the bangers and mash, where is the corn beef and cabbage? We then shared a slice of strawberry Biscof cake which again was delicious. For a shared appetizer, two entrees, shared dessert and 3 glasses of wine it was just over $100 for the two of us before the tip. The service was pretty good and the food was OK but for $100 I would expect it to be better. This is a pub atmosphere and food restaurant not a fine dining experience. I think the prices should be lower and get some of those good Irish staples in there which were clearly lacking from their menu. Would I go again - if someone in my party wanted to go I would go but I think it will be a long time again before I choose to come here. read more

This pub is the best, we accidentally walked in on their friends giving trying to get a bite while away from home. the owner and the head chief asked us to stay gave us beer and made us the best plate of wings I've had bar non! In the end they asked for nothing! these are the kind of people I will spend my hard earned money with every time. My wife and I go here at least once a week. They are only blocks from the house, open at 5pm and have great staff, good food and a fairly well stoked Bar. The bar could be better the bartenders are great, but if your a quality rum drinker like myself. Your SOL. Even after speaking to the owner who seemed disinterested in my request. Having Bumbu, Diplomatico or some other better brand would be great. But not a drop. Even after mentioning it to the staff very time we stop in. As for the food it's great try the Shrimp and Grits there the most savory thing you can eat in Augusta with a spoon and top notch burgers and delicious fries. Although we were the only couple in town that did book a restaurant for Valentine's Day, we had a better meal than some of the spots we intended to go to, and that was all because of Sheehan's. The pub was recommended to me by a friend. I think the restaurant is well-separated from the pub. You can't hear anything from the pub while you're in the restaurant, and even so the pub wasn't a noisy bar atmosphere. The candles and dim lights set a romantic atmosphere too. But the reason why I'm ranking this restaurant so highly is because of the duck. There are a lot of things that can ruin a duck (over salting, under salting, trimming the fat, etc.), but this desk was cooked really well. The skin had the crisp texture that it's supposed to. There was a taste of honey on the crispy skin. The meat wasn't overcooked, like a lot of places do. The green beans were crisp too. There was a nice texture to the entire dish. I know the scotch egg seems out of place, but it's a pain to make and I'll eat it anywhere out. The scotch egg was good, not overcooked to the point where the yolk was dry ah..., and the mustard accompanied it well. I'd check out the pub too. The cocktails were so much better than a lot of places downtown. I especially liked the thyme infused gin cocktail. The waitress was kind enough to give me a tip about adding salt to it. It was like getting two cocktails in one. It totally changed the taste and both ways were refreshing. read more

Went to Sheehan's on Friday. Not much changes here. Same great food, excellent service, and a warm inviting environment to enjoy the best food in Augusta. Mary was our server and she was excellent. The staff here at Sheehans' are the best in town. They are always friendly and they know every item on the menu, how it's prepared, and they are always willing to make a suggestion if you are having a tough time making a choice. Always a delight! When I lived here 6 years ago, Sheehan's was one of my favorites, and now that I am back in town it's still just as good. Last night, we started with the spring rolls and the rosemary mussels. The spring rolls were perfectly crisp with flavorful filling. They were wrapped in lettuce and noodles on the outside the roll, which was a little odd and I'm not sure contributed much. The mussels are fantastic and a must order. We have them almost every time we go. They're served in a broth that is so delightful we often ask for extra rolls to sop it up. For entrees we had the honey lacquered duck and the stuffed flounder (a frequent special). The duck here is amazing with perfectly crisp skin, but still the medium to medium rare you want on int he inside. The flounder is stuffed with a mix of shrimp, scallops, and crawfish. The shrimp and scallops used for the stuffing are of generous size. Then the whole thing is topped with a spicy and cheesy sauced and backed with breadcrumbs overtop. The breadcrumbs were a little scan this time, but otherwise it was delicious. read more

First off. I failed. I didn't take any pictures. But trust me the food was delicious. And the price was really good. For starters we ate fried oysters which were really good. But the Star appetizer goes to the shrimp and grit cake. It's grits molded to a block and pan seared for a crispy outer shell. The the shrimps and grit cake is drizzled with a rich sauce. I loved it. Then we had for dinner, a dish I was skeptical about because it had fish with cheese. But they made it work. It was super tasty and perfectly cooked. Our server Hannah has served us the last two times we've been in there. The last time, we had a fairly decent party. We wanted a bottle of red wine, and she recommended meiomi not knowing that this is my personal favorite. The party also enjoyed it. She knew the menu fairly well and recommended some awesome dishes. Where do I start....we started off with the Vietnamese spring rolls..very tasty just not enough. I then ordered a cocktail "What she's having" what a refreshing drink. Our waitress was absolutely awesome and suggested putting a little fresh cracked pepper in the second drink...great suggestion! My dinner was superb. Secondly, the divider between our table and the hallway at the top of the stairs was just burlap tacked to the 2x4s. In front, there is a nice patio with overhead cover. Just too hot outside right now. Also the noise and crowd was a but much around the bar/main dining room for a nice dinner. Service: A+. Our server Mary was fantastic!!! Excellent service, friendly and very knowledgeable about the menu and specials. Right on time with the delivery of the courses. I took her recommendation and was very pleased. Food Quality: A. I had the Surf and Turf consisting of a Filet and Chili Shrimp. It was wonderful. It was one of, if not THE best steak I have had in the CSRA. Melt in your mouth tender. The Chili Shrimp was also a hit. Great Moscow Mules too! Price: B-. It is a pricey establishment. The food quality is on par with the price. I would prefer higher end décor/furnishings/tables/atmosphere for such an expensive restaurant. Probability of a Return Visit: Yes. Ate here tonight. The service was great and the food was pretty good but the prices were way out of line. Two of us ordered the special fall salad which was supposed to have candied pistachios on it. They must have been ground up because neither of us saw or tasted them. For $12.00 we expected a plate of salad. What we got was about a cup of greens, 2 thin orange slices and 2 pieces of pickled peaches. We both added scallops as a protein. For $16.00 we got 4 medium sized scallops. For $26.00 I expected more than this. The other person we were with ordered burnt pork ends and a salad. Hers was also good but she also needed to order dessert because she was also still hungry even though hers was considerably bigger than ours.I realize they were "small" plates but this was ridiculous. I don't mind the prices if you get what you pay for but a cup of salad was crazy! read more
