My experience is based off a Thursday evening for two. The hostess greeted us and told us there was a table available but it was reserved for a party in two hours. I thought that was more than enough time, but the service was unbelievably swamped so our meal really did take up all that time. Like so many folks have said, this isn't an Irish pub. I was very disappointed immediately, but I didn't want to walk out without trying it. Still, it's like going to a sushi restaurant with that only served tempura. Overall, great restaurant. We'll definitely be back. Food was more Cajun than Irish, but that was okay with me. We shared one app, one soup, one entree and one dessert. We had five beers and one martini. Bill was $78--moderately priced. This is a place we will definitely return to. Place was packed on a Wednesday night, so you know it had to be good. We sat at the bar. Our bartender was very nice, but her coworker needs another job--complained the entire time about everything! The place had a nice atmosphere. The menu had great options. We shared a shrimp and grit cake app, which was great! We also had a cup of shrimp bisque, which was a special that night. What is the ambiance? We tried it for the first time and it was disappointing. This neighborhood bar/restaurant was recommended by several people, however, falls far short of other eateries in this area of Augusta. We had the corned beef spring rolls-greasy.. could even taste any corned beef ( at an Irish Pub!!?) the shrimp bisque had a fair flavor, was thick but there was meat in there that was a mystery to me.. THe duck was undercooked, tough as leather and lacked the flavor one expects from a succulent duck, properly cooked. My wife had the filet with shrimp.. for $40 it was tough as leather and flavorless... My dog, not a connoisseur of fine meats was the benefactor of half the meal!. My string beans, sauteed, and flavorless were serve cold. Our waitress thankfully was great. She deserves to serve better to her patrons. Ate here tonight. The service was great and the food was pretty good but the prices were way out of line. Two of us ordered the special fall salad which was supposed to have candied pistachios on it. They must have been ground up because neither of us saw or tasted them. For $12.00 we expected a plate of salad. What we got was about a cup of greens, 2 thin orange slices and 2 pieces of pickled peaches. We both added scallops as a protein. For $16.00 we got 4 medium sized scallops. For $26.00 I expected more than this. The other person we were with ordered burnt pork ends and a salad. Hers was also good but she also needed to order dessert because she was also still hungry even though hers was considerably bigger than ours.I realize they were "small" plates but this was ridiculous. We were lucky to try his venison chili during the winter and it was so delicious we ordered two to go for the next day. Another special if I remember correctly was a crab cake with a beautiful display of vegetables. We had split the appetizer and I decided to order the dinner portion because it was so delicious. We are a big fan and only wish they were on opentable so I can check to make a reservation early on a Saturday morning to see if we can make plans for that evening. Otherwise, I have to wait till about 3pm and we are 35 miles from town. So, if there are no reservations available, I'm all dressed up with no where to go. Last year, I had a few business trips to Augusta, and never having been there, I asked around, and found someone that had. He gave me a list of where to eat, and Sheehan's was at the top, so we went there our first night in town. We were so impressed, we tried going back again later in the week for lunch, but we were sad to see them closed. Attended A birthday dinner here with a large group of girls. We sat outside, so I can't really comment on the atmosphere inside. We were under a large tent, and it was nice to be outside as the weather was perfect. We had two waitresses helping our party of about 15 people. They did a great job of keeping the checks separate without having to be asked, but occasionally were a bit slow on drinks. They knew the specials, and were able to answer all my questions about each dish. I decided to go with the bone in pork chop, which came with grits and collard greens. The pork chop was very good and not overdone. Portion sizes and taste of sides were perfection. Everyone else seemed to enjoy their meals, lots of soups and salads! I'm looking forward too going back with a smaller party to get the full Sheenhan's experience, but it's great to know they can handle a crowd. read more

Why is this place still allowed to call itself an Irish Pub? Overall: Location- Good. Food- pretty good, but definitely Southern. More on this later. Service- Mediocre. After living in Savannah for several years (and being engaged to an Irishman), I am quite familiar with what an Irish pub is supposed to be like. For one, it should have Irish food. Fish and chips and shepard's pie, at bare minimum. This place has neither. It literally does not have a single Irish item on the menu. Which brings me back to my original question.....why is this place allowed to call itself an Irish pub? The food is actually very good, but the menu features teriyaki Salmon, gnocchi, grits, etc. We spoke to the manager, and according to her the owner is married to an Irish woman so he calls his restaurant an Irish pub. "Irish heart, Southern food" were her exact words, before adding that "Hey, we have Guinness on tap." Once we were seated, service was decent but we waited an hour for seats (after making reservations). In hindsight, we should've checked out the menu instead of getting a couple of beers during our wait. Once it came time to seat us, they tried to sit us at a hightop table that another couple was currently at (it was strange) but we were insistent that we would like a real table. At that point, they took us to the back where there were literally about 6 empty tables. I understand they probably didn't have the waitstaff to sit everyone at those tables, but it was a little frustrating to know we had been waiting at the bar for over an hour when there were plenty of tables available in the back. We may give this place another try eventually, but at the moment nothing about our prior experience makes me want to return. read more

It's not a pub in the way I think of a pub, it's actually more like a nice restaurant. But, it does have a nice bar, with a number of options for beers on tap, so no issues there. It was, overall, a really nice dinner. The decor: A Service: A Price: B--a bit pricey, but worth it Food: A--probably one of the top 3-4 restaurants in Augusta. The stilton cheese grits are great. I loved this place. It's a divey yet an upscale restaurant all in one. It has a great feel to it. It has a great food. And it has a great bar. The last time I was there I got the Sriracha Shrimp for an appetizer which was fantastic and grilled salmon for my entree, which was even better. The salmon was still me of the best salmon I have ever had and the mash potatoes, which really how I judge my food, were excellent. The bar had a great selection of beers, wines and spirits. We called at 8:15 on a Friday night to see how long the wait was and were told we could be seated by 8:30. We got there at 8:30 and although it was crowded, the hostess was true to her word. The place looks small but they have additional indoor seating upstairs where it's quieter than the entrance/bar area. I had a Sweetwater and I'm pretty light weight, also this was more than three months ago, so I don't remember exactly what the appetizer we got was, but I think meat and a fried egg were involved. Mark my words, it was delicious. For my entree I had the seafood pasta. Happiness in every bite. That is all I have to say. This is a much classier place than the category "pub" generally insinuates. For an average date night with drinks, an appetizer, and entrees the bill was about $60, so it's a bit on the pricier side, but well worth it. read more

This is a hidden gem right in Augusta that has a friendly staff with amazing food! My cousins ordered the shrimp and grits appetizer (which was good enough for a small meal)- it was a block of fried grits, shrimp, in a tasty tomato sauce and I highly recommend it! I ordered the fried green tomato salad and they were accomodating by adding a couple of scallops (an extra 4 bucks). The scallops were on the smaller side but they were delish! I wish this place had two things: more dessert options and a drink menu! I ordered the hello dolly which was a martini glass dessert that had some type of bar, vanilla ice cream, and strawberries. Even though it hit the sweet tooth spot.. I wanted more than just two dessert options. Bottom line.. I would come again! read more

Came here after one of the Master's practice rounds. Overall the food was very good. As far as the name of the restaurant goes, don't expect this to be a typical Irish Pub. Rather than serving up Irish pub classics, Sheehan's takes a more Southern approach to their menu. Also be prepared that it may be pricier than you expect. Entrees run in the $25-$35 range. I ordered the honey lacquered duck, with stilton cheese grits and fried green beans. The meal was delicious and I paired with with something more traditionally Irish, Guinness. One member of our party ordered a seared tuna that looked like it was perfectly cooked and he enjoyed it very much. Two members of our group ordered the Catfish Louisianne which came highly recommended by the waitress. They did not seem disappointed with the catfish dish at all. Disclaimer: I may have hyped this place up a bit much seeing as I've been trying to get here since I moved to Augusta three years ago. That being said, the entire experience wasn't awful, but it wasn't great either. The drink I got, Jessie's girl, sounded like it should have been right up my alley, but tasted a bit like it was the first time anyone had mixed those flavors together. Wasn't enough for me to send it back or complain, just wouldn't order it again, that's all. Tried the scotch eggs which were a special and really enjoyed those, the fries and the honey mustard that was served with the two. I also ordered the rosemary mussels appetizer as my entree and really wasn't impressed. The flavor was overpowering and took away from the mussels themselves and the bread seemed.... days old? Which is odd. I think I've had better bread from Kroger. Most places in the local area do a great job with the toast points, rolls, etc. that they serve with the mussels but I would not order these again either. This find offers a very nice dining experience in Augusta. While waiting for my meal, I enjoyed some wonderfully fresh rolls with butter. The service was excellent. For an opener, the Shrimp & Grit Cake was remarkable. With a crunchy crust, the grits were firm but moist inside, the addition of the corn & red bell pepper was just right. The stars of the plate were the smoky andouille sausage and the perfectly cooked shrimp in a sweet sauce with just the right kick! This is highly recommended! My entree was the Ahi Tuna; pan-seared with a little crunch on top top. This was served with an aioli and Asian vegetables. (snow peas, carrots, light sauce) I enjoyed the tuna, though it was not as rare as I had hope. This is a restaurant worth recommending to your friends. read more

I was pretty surprised by Sheean's. It calls itself an Irish pub...I've never been to Ireland, but are pubs supposed to be this nice? I treated myself to a "welcome to Augusta, Timber" dinner here, but I probably won't be going back very often since it was a little pricey. My companions and I sat on the closed-in-yet-still-kind-of-outdoorsy patio. There is also true outdoor seating just beyond the patio, and on the lower level, there is the indoor portion of the restaurant that seemed to be really loud as we stood there waiting for a table. For my appetizer, I got scallops (3 in the dish) and gnocchi served with spinach and a seemingly tomato-based sauce. I thought it was a large appetizer, so large, in fact, that I had to take the majority of my delicious entree home for lunch the next day. I had the ahi tuna steak served over sauteed snowpeas, carrots, and red peppers. It was divine! read more

Reservation for 7:30 seated upon arrival. Waitress provided excellent service start to finish. Food was excellent fair prices for quality -upscale clientele and atmosphere. Nice relaxing dinner very good server -great for special occasions or a girls night out. Sheehans is the best restaurant in Augusta. The owner John is always out hanging with the customers and most of the people are regulars which is a good thing. The honey lacquered duck with the grits and green beans are unreal! Not only is the food great but it has a fantastic bar with a great draft selection, great wine list and great selection of good liquor.
