On the way back to our temporary home, we were walking along the shops on George Street and ended up popping in for a sweet tooth fix. We didn't have time to do a tour, but we still got goodies! It's small and has a variety of chocolate to pick from. The kids picked out a couple of cute stuffed animals for souvenirs. We got a bag of milk chocolate shells and a piece of birthday cake fudge. We didn't hesitate to open the bag of shells to eat some on the walk. We saved some until we got back home. The piece of fudge was devoured by the four of us while we were eating leftovers the same night though. Go get your chocolate fix now! read more

This was a stop on our St Augustine Experience food tour. We all got a delicious praline and everything looked so yummy.

After the salted caramel whiskey wasn't my favorite, we walked across the street to see if Whetstone had any salted caramel treats and they did! I ended up getting three small milk chocolates filled with caramel and topped with nice salty chunks. I also got two milk chocolate turtles with salted caramel. I'm not a huge sweets eater but sometimes you just need a little caramel in your life, and their caramel was good. read more

This was our last ditch effort in hopes of finding a good strong cup of hot java. ThankGod, she said "yes". They also were going to be open until 10pm. Most other places closed a little early, due to the Corona Virus restraints. The coffee was excellent. I bought a lb. of ground coffee(chocolate). It smells good. I look forward to trying it soon. There were no places to sit inside, as it was small inside, but they had a huge patio with wonderful tables, chairs and umbrellas. We sat for a few minutes and enjoyed the hot coffee. Then, we left. The tour was a lot of fun. Our tourguide Joe was superfun and had great jokes throughout the tour. He kept everone engaged. We learned about the chocolate process and saw a small artisan chocolate factory. Surprisingly they only had 5 employees. It was only 8.95 and you got a dicount coupon to buy chocolate and fudge in their store. Tour sticker also gives you a 10 percent discount at their other 2 locations and some restaurants. We had 5 or 6 samples on the tour. Next to winery and very close to distillery. read more

Ever since I did a tour with them- I have wanted to get back and grab more chocolate. The quality is extraordinary! I thought I loved chocolate, I thought I knew chocolate- and then I tasted fresh chocolate. Locally made- they literally go from bean to melt in your mouth. Being a total chocoholic, this place was MANDATORY on the list of places to visit in St. Augustine. They have an insane selection of chocolates here that range from white to dark and even tell ya a little about the origins of the cocoa bean. I swear i can spend hours here looking at all the products the way one would gaze at the museum artifacts that St. Augustine has to offer, but that's just me. Anyway, being that I love chocolate truffles, I grabbed 4 varieties, two of each kind: cappuccino, amaretto, rum, and Datil pepper (to take a walk on the wild side). These truffles tasted fresh and amazing with the delicate flavors bursting in my mouth as I bite into them. I also got dark chocolate tasting squares and a dark chocolate bar with cocoa nibs since I don't see that quite too often anymore. I'm gonna give this little store five stars. When I first walked into this location, I actually heard singing. Three of the ladies that work in the back with all singing. That is a joyful noise, they had a song in their hearts. Maybe it was the chocolate in their system, I don't know. My wife and I purchased some candy beer, I purchased some chocolate cashew clusters. Which were amazing. My wife came across some candied fruit slices. She says she hasn't seen those since she was a little girl. Great store, great chocolate. Took the tour, the arrogant and even rude tour guide kinda ruined the experience. I have a great, dry humor but I was made uncomfortable by her demeanor. My husband wanted to walk out as he rarely suffers through people who behave in this way. It seems as though the guide doesn't like her job and just endures us ( the customer who wants to know more about the process) I would advise to just buy the chocolate as it is indeed delicious and creamy, the dark chocolate is snappy and not at all bitter. It's a shame, we decided not to buy because of her and she even begged for tips at the end, which I found sad. Tips are earned for a great experience and service. Not plunking chocolate in people's hands and complaining about having to play waitress to the room. read more

I have been known to frequent various whetstone chocolate locations around St. Augustine. I was even offered a local discount once because I come so often. They offer the best chocolate you will find in Florida. I recommend buying these for gifts. Your family and friends will love you for it. They have many different types of flavors in the shape of a shell, it is very cute to look at! Beautiful chocolates! I tried three different truffles, but it was not anything memorable. I mean, I didn't think it was anything extra ordinary. I actually like it when the chocolate is a bit bitter... and I think that is the mark of an extraordinary chocolatier... not all chocolate have to entirely rely on being sweet to be interesting and delicious. So I suggest for more darker chocolate variety that may not be entirely too bitter nor too sweet, but I do know that that can be quite a challenge. All in all, not bad though. read more

My wife and I went here on our honeymoon and did the tour and tasting. Overall it was interesting, but wasn't super impressed. The tour cost $8 per person (Jan 18), was about 45 minutes long, and you get to sample around 7 chocolates. The guide we had was funny and seemed to enjoy his job. The chocolates were great! Some of the best milk chocolate, and the absolute BEST dark chocolate I've ever had. Only 3/5 because the tour shouldn't have been 8 dollars, it was worth being free and the chocolates are a tad expensive. read more

Cute, small shop. It can get crowded easily. They had all of their Easter candy out- cute little chocolates in Easter eggs! My favorite is the dark chocolate caramel squares and the dark chocolate pretzels . The fudge in the cabinet looks amazing. If you are looking for something to do that follows covid safety guidelines, do not do the chocolate tasting tour. The tour is at 100% capacity indoors. The tour guide does not wear a mask (only a face shield). Tour guide goes around placing open chocolates on everyone's hands (I recommend they only pass out wrapped chocolate). We did not feel safe in terms of covid guidelines. read more

This store has very good chocolate. In my opinion though they are very expensive. We bought 2 chocolate covered pretzels, 2 large peanut butter cups ($5.50 each), fudge and some assorted chocolate. Just did the chocolate tour at Whetstone. We did this a few years ago but the kids were fairly young so we wanted to do it again now that they're older. We arrived at 1:30 and thankfully they had room for my family of 4 for the next tour which was 2:15. The tour was very informative and even though it was our 2nd time doing it I still learned something new! You get several samples of chocolate and it was worth the money, if you have time to do this tour I highly recommend it. Our tour guide Joe was very funny and entertaining, he made the tour even more enjoyable! Plus each adult entry gets you a $2 off $10 coupon for purchases at the shop which we took advantage of! The chocolates are very reasonably priced for artisan chocolates. We love bringing these home to our family especially since we love dark chocolate. The Ponce De Leon dark chocolate is my favorite! There are two places in this great country to get chocolate better than the Belgian can make it. The first is Romolos Chocolatier in Erie, Pennsylvania. The second is Whetsone. I haven't yet had an opportunity to take the chocolate tour further back in the city, but upon walking St. George street today, I had to stop in when I saw the storefront. The chocolates are incredible. Better yet, the lady helping me was the most genuine and sincere gal I've ever met. I truly felt like I could stay and live here, just based on how nice she was! I've got a bag full of chocolates now, and I'm not sure it will last until the morning! Decent chocolate. It's not the best around, but some of it is better than average. The service is hit or miss. The toffee crunch sea shells are cool and like a Crunch Bar, but most of their stuff doesn't stand out in St. Augustine. They do have chocolate covered frozen bananas, and that can be fun on a hot day. Still, it's average American chocolate, but it's nothing special in St. Augustine. If you want better quality chocolate, then go to Claude's. Much better chocolate there. read more
